I really wanted to like this place since it's so convenient to where I live, so I tried it twice. Both times I had a masseuse named Sara. The first time, she spent 30 minutes out of my 90 minute Swedish massage doing what she called "dry work" where she poked and prodded me while I had a sheet/blanket over me. There was no massaging at all for that entire time. So, the second time, I told her specially I didn't want dry work. During my second massage, my eyes were closed, and Sara walked out without saying anything around 10 minutes before the end of my massage while she was in the middle of massaging my feet. I figured she went to the bathroom, so I waited and waited, but she never came back. I got ready and went out and told her she disappeared without saying anything and she responded with "I thought you were asleep," implying if my eyes were closed she'll end the massage early?! That showed me a complete lack of integrity and diligence. On top of that, they only take cash and check, so it's a bit of a pain. Overall, I was not impressed with the quality of their service at all and wouldn't recommend this place. read more

It was was first time here and I had a very pleasant experience! I requested an appointment online and I was followed up with right away to schedule a time. When I arrived I was greeted by my masseuse and filled out the paperwork. I really enjoyed my massage. The pressure was perfect. Before we started Sheryl reiterated this experience is all about me and to make sure I let her know if I want her to go lighter or deeper. She asked where I was feeling pain to make sure she addressed it. The set up in the room has two beds. The beds are heated which I love. It was calming music in the background. Sheryl was very professional the entire time. She also gave me recommendations on how to help relieve some pressure in my back. Yes, one star in harsh. But I'll explain. In Short: Bad customer service. Bad waxing results. Inappropriate conversation during session. I called to make an appointment, Teresa answered and asked if I could come in at 5:30. This was in 15 Minutes, I agreed and rushed over. I was 5 minutes early and the doors were locked. No one was there. I called Teresa and she said "I figured you weren't coming so I left" This made no sense since I wasn't late and we had just spoke on the phone 10 minutes ago. I was a little annoyed at the unapologetic attitude she showed. But brushed it off and continued with the appointment. During the session (under arm waxing) she began to make conversation with me. It was pleasant at first, but quickly she began to ask me about my religious beliefs and was evangelizing Christianity. This made me feel awkward, as she began to quote the bible. Now, I was raised a Cristian and I have read the bible back and fourth many times over. But I came in for waxing not a bible lesson. Anyway, I went home and in better lighting realized there were many stray hairs and patches. A lot of the hair wasn't pulled from the root but broken off. It was a bad experience and I wanted to share it because no one should have patchy wax jobs with a side of evangelization. read more

Since my wife does not Yelp, then I must speak out on her behalf. Teresa is awesome. I gave my wife a mini-spa with a one hour facial, followed by a one hour body massage. She and I have been to many of the many wonderful beauty salons and health spas in the area (seriously, the whole Monterey Bay Area suffers from an embarrassment of riches with relax and rejuvenate options), but, for her, this is the "one" she will prefer. Teresa is an expert, spoils clients (only one at a time), and does most of her business by word-of-mouth (i.e. she does not need to advertise). Ironically, for my wife, she could not be closer, since Touch of TLC is just down the street from our house; it is one go Marina's hidden gems (although customers come from all over). Since she works one client at a time, it is best to make reservations, for at least one day in advance. I cannot recommend Touch of TLC enough and know you will not be disappointed. read more

My husband and I booked massages (swedish for me, deep tissue for him) with a Touch of TLC because of the wonderful reviews. We were celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary/babymoon in Monterey/Carmel. It was easy to book with Teresa as she had a consultation with me over the phone to ensure she'd have the best massage therapist to address our needs. I believe Dara was our massage therapist and she did a wonderful job. She combined various techniques that helped with my circulation, flexibility, and trouble spots (shoulder blades and upper back). This was my husband's first professional massage by a massage therapist and I had to twist his arm to book one with me. He later told me he was glad he got a massage. Dara worked a lot on his upper back (his trouble spots too) and stretched him out, which he enjoyed. He's now open to getting massages with me in the future! Our appointments with her were in the morning, yet we still felt so relaxed later that day we ended up taking a nap in the early evening and completely missing dinner time. We followed Dara's instructions on drinking tons of water that we did not feel sore the next day. I would highly recommend a Touch of TLC for a massage.
