The food was sub par compared to when they first opened. I know they had some issues and are back open again but they forgot the name of their own restaurant. If you serve fish in Louisiana it better not be frozen fish from overseas. My advice would be just don't have fish on your menu at all. read more

We've gone to Toup's many times for breakfast. We drove one hour each way. The best breakfast place around. Good coffee, good breakfast combos, good prices and good service. There's usually a wait but it's worth it to us! Every server we've had, has been pleasant and on point. The decor is really cool, it's clean and the layout is nice. Just moved here last week and was looking for a breakfast spot and I think we found it. It's a come in and find your seat kind of place. It's not very big but it's clean and the kitchen is fast! The menu (sorry I didn't take a photo) has everything from breakfast, lunch to dinner. I had the cakes and eggs and my husband had the chicken tender dinner. He said the chicken was good!! Great food and great atmosphere. We came with a huge party of teenage boys after a basketball. Not only did they swirly accommodate us, but told us not to rush as we checked into the hotel next door. We sat down and Heather promptly greeted us and took our drink order. She was so sweet and kind and handled our party sized with ease! Our food didn't take any longer than what an average sized party would take. To help Get the food out Mr Will came and helped get everything to everyone while it was still piping hot. I went in for breakfast but the shrimp Poboy sounded so good I couldn't resist. I ordered grilled stomp on it. The service was fast. To fast... the shrimp didn't have any cooking marks and were barely cooked. You could see they were raw south opening the sandwich. Raw shrimp for breakfast. Yum The waitresses were great. In the midst of several small restaurants this seemed to stick out as being something a little more special. Fried pickles, boudin balls, fried mushrooms were a great start to a meal of etufee, fish, and gumbo that checked all the Cajun boxes. Clean, family environment. Clean restrooms. For the location it is above average breakfast joint. What I love about it is they are pro military and try real hard. Nothing here is just over the top fantastic but again for the area is your #1 breakfast choice. If you go on a weekend morning go early or your good service goes down as most staff gets overwhelmed. There isn't a system here for efficiency. I've had issues with my food every time I come, but I like my food to be hot and delivered how I order it. They do great eggs and waffles. The chicken tenders if cooked to order are great. This visit my food was obviously microwaved and tried to pass the chicken fried steak off. It was certainly cooked earlier and covered with hot gravy to mask. It was so hard I couldn't cut with a serrated knife. I should've taken a picture but I sent it back with no recook. Who wants another recooked fried steak in the microwave not me. The over easy eggs were perfect. Our server was prompt and soft spoken seems really nice. Coffee was fresh. Only giving 2 stars because the chicken was good my husband ordered and he cleaned his plate with microwaved biscuits and microwaved hash browns. But he ate raw goat in Afghanistan so I'm certain he felt like this was a fine dining experience. PS no bill adjustment - I would have been fine paying for eggs and biscuits but we paid the entire bill. No concession for the cement steak. read more

Had breakfast here on Nov 26, 2021. Hash brown breakfast bowl arrived barely warm, but the real reason for my 1-star review is the asterisk in the menu that states "All seafood sourced from East Asia." Is that why their "Kajun" is spelled with a K? It should be renamed Kasian. With all the awesome seafood available in LA and MS, this really pisses me off. How can you even claim to be a Cajun restaurant?!?! Lastly, I'm embarrassed to have the Toups name in my genealogy! read more

My husband and I LOVE this place. Not many good breakfast spots in town but we definitely found our "one". Great menu selection, (breakfast served all day I believe?), food is always fresh & hot, and regardless of how busy they are, the service is immaculate. Coming back to Louisiana after 20 years being away. Had a hankering for Cajun food, Toups' delivered. Etoufee and fish over jasmine rice was scrumptious, also had boudin balls, dynamite. She introduced me to another favorite drinks, cranberry and crown. Have to have one for breakfast, kickstart my day. Been back to Toups' for breakfast also twice. Terrible food,no where near CAJUN, had red beans and rice a bowl of beans with ZERO seasoning, no onions,and 2 small pieces of cheap sausage grilled and put on top of beans,( none cooked IN the beans) reminded me of the dollar red beans and rice days at dairy queen years ago, had chicken fried steak straight out of the Walmart frozen package with instant mashed potatoes, no seasoning flavorless,only cajun thing was crawfish etouffee, ( gravy with crawfish on top ) seriously dont go to this Cajun restaurant it gives real cajun food a undeserved image,wont be back read more
