This is a review of the whale watching tour. Pros: Prompt pickup, great crew. We actually got to see some orcas... but (Cons)..they overbook tours so you are competing with other tourists who are often pushy and vying for first in line. There is only so much deck space so consequently, we got no pics of the whales because we were not in the "front row". Also, you need a professional camera (think oversize Japanese tourist type) because you need a camera with an extremely high shutter speed to catch images of the whales, which move rather quickly. Also, a camera with a no glare lens, which rules out many point-and-shoots. Would have been helpful to know this beforehand before laying out $200. read more

Took the city tour today with Gary as the driver. He is knowledgeable, personable and funny. He made the best of the small snow flurries. Great to get a quick tour of the various parts of Seattle and get advice for what to see on the rest of my stay. read more

Like many others before me I have to rate this tour company top notch. On a whim we picked them on a recommendation from our hotel. Although we questioned that we went ahead because the vans are small and they pick you up and drop you off. I have to say this was the best tour we have been on in years. Our driver Joe was fantastic. He was energetic and excited about everything we saw and transferred that enthusiasm to all of us. He had stories and information galore. If you go to Seattle you have to use this service to get a good feel for the city and surroundings. I only wish we had more time to book a Mt. Rainier tour. Be sure to ask for Joe. read more

Our driver Brian was knowledgeable and good at answering questions. He knew all the great places to hit and when to go there. We saw a great overview of the park, as much as possible in the time allowed. In addition to a wonderful tour, Brian told us about the surrounding area and Seattle highlights. Spent $75 for the Boeing tour only to find out that the ticket at Boeing for their tour was only $20. $55 for a 90 minutes worth of pick up and drop offs and change of bus was definitely not worth the charge. What a rip off!!! read more

Recently took the Mt. Rainier tour and had a great experience. As out-of-towners visiting with no vehicle, this was the best, most affordable option for us to get out to the park -- and it was definitely the right call! We would not have been able to see everything that was fit into the tour if we had tried to go on our own! Chris was an excellent tour guide, shared tons of knowledge about Rainier and the surrounding area, and was very friendly and funny. I took my family from the midwest on a tour with this company because my efforts to show off the city has been stretched to the max. This tour was outstanding and taught me so much about a city I've been in for more than 10 years. Geography, culture and history were blended with humor and big sights and observations. The guide was a retired attorney and it was fascinating how he on occassion would toss in a legal case: murder, land use, etc. My family went the next day on their Boeing tour and I was able to get back to work. I recently took the Mt. Rainier tour while visiting Seattle based on reviews I read saying how great it was. I highly recommend to anyone who wants a fun, informative, comfortable, really cool day trip to Mt. Rainier. Very comfortable coach bus, excellent tour guide. He took us to see so much more than I could have seen on my own. He shared a ton of interesting info too but it was not boring or silly. Perfect day - really enjoyed it. Traveled solo - everyone else with someone or others but I felt comfortable and it took the stress out of driving there and planning on my own. We used these guys to go to Mt. Rainier. They picked us up from our hotel bright and early and we had an unforgettable day trip. The tour guide was extremely knowledgable about the flora, weather, routes. It might cost you $15-$20 more than a Gray Line tour but its a small, more friendly bus, and easily worth springing for. read more

I had asked earlier about what time we would get back so I could pick up a rental car for my next tour appointment that day. We went to Mt. Rainier and they picked us up from our downtown hotel bright and early, and dropped us off there at the end of the day. Our tour guide, Mark, was wonderful. I can't say enough about him. Upbeat and friendly, his love of the area and especially Mt. Rainier shows throughout the tour. The tour is long - 10-ish hours - so be prepared, but if you like national parks, you'll love this tour. read more

We had a great time on our Mt. Rainier bus tour and it was made more enjoyable due to our tour guide Mike! Mike was very knowledgeable and created such a friendly atmosphere with trivia questions, fun facts, and some great dad jokes. By the end of the day he felt like an old friend. We stopped at many points in the park to explore, and had the opportunity to hike some of the trails when we stopped for lunch. The scenery was breathtaking! Our tour ended with stopping for some delicious huckleberry ice cream. Our tour was great. Mario picked us up at the hotel, gave us a brief, & suggested we sit on the right side of the bus to get the best views. He also knew to get us to the Space Needle early to avoid the crowds and avoid the afternoon shower. He provided a lot of details about Seattle that most probably don't know. We also spent two hours at Pikes waterfront area for lunch and shopping. I would highly recommend this tour on your first day, then go back into the city if you want to spend more time at one or two places. read more

Great city tour of Seattle with CC! We had taken the Mount Rainier tour with Chris the day before, and so thoroughly enjoyed it, as soon as we got back to the hotel, we went online and booked the city tour. Being without a car, this was a great way to see the city we would not have otherwise been able to do. The tour price included tickets to the Space Needle, with a re-entry later the same day. We only had 2 and a half days in Seattle and we chose to tour with Tours Northwest and it was the best decision we made. We got to see so much of the city and surrounding neighborhoods that we would have never gotten to by foot or city buses. Our driver/guide was the best. He knew "everything". The bus was comfy, we got picked up at our hotel and dropped off wherever we wanted to end the tour. I did the basic 3 hour tour on 6/23 and it was fantastic. I ran the Seattle Marathon the day before and did not see any of the sites in the city. This tour took me around and showed me everything I missed. Our tour guide was very funny (and full of information!) and accommodating to every one on the bus. I've already recommended this tour to other people visiting Seattle next week. Def worth the $60! read more

Mario was our tour guide and he was so informative and friendly! We felt like we saw the entire city in 3 hours! Highly recommended tour! The ONLY complaint I have is that they were not clear about the timing of events. When you go online, it says it's a 3-hour tour. Well, let's say you pick one that starts at 10am., They spend the good first hour picking up people from the tour from their respective locations, THEN start the 3-hour tour. THEN, when it ends, they spend another 40-50 min. to drop everyone off. SO give yourself a good 5-6 hours to completely end a 3 hour tour. read more

My husband and I had a great tour to Mt Rainier on 8/19/14, our driver Will was phenomenal! The bus picked us up from our hotel around 7:15am which was very convenient. Since there isn't a bathroom on the bus i would recommend you hit the bathroom before you board the bus. We did make a stop at a Safeway about 1hr into the trip so we were able to use the bathroom and purchase items for a snack/picnic. Our driver brought a cooler with ice that we could all use, he also provided waters. Although it is a long day (10hrs) I would definitely recommend this tour, we met alot of great people from around the world & really enjoyed the experience & the beauty of Mt. Rainier. read more

I went on Tours Northwest Three-Hour Seattle City Tour and really enjoyed the tour. Captain Ron was the guide. I liked that the tour was not all 100% about what's great and positive (like in most city bus tours), instead it also covered a couple of past disasters Seattle experienced. And when it comes to the town's achievements and pride I've learned a quite a bit too. The tour actually lasted 3.5 hours, and included 4 different stops. I learned a lot about the town and where to go and what to see next time I visit. We went to places I didn't expect we'd visit, and somehow managed to not get stuck in traffic anywhere.The seats in the bus recline, and the last hour I just kicked back. I had 7 hours to myself in Seattle, and I'm very glad I took this bus with its huge windows and a guide that knows everything having lived in Seattle for decades. I know where to go once I exited the bus. Ron's a great driver too, but does need to take a cell phone photography class (once it becomes available :) I had several folks take pictures for me (on THE spot you should not miss in Seattle). That one and only SPOT. Take the bus there, unless you are visiting someone in Seattle who owns a $5,000,000 house with THE view. read more

We went to Seattle for sightseeing and Tours Northwest was just the ticket. The first day we went on the Boeing tour and had a very nice tour guide. The size of the building and the overlook of the planes being built was awesome. We were impressed with Tours Northwest picking us up at our hotel and dropping us off anywhere in the city we wanted after the tour. We decided to take the City tour and Mt. Rainier tours with them as well. They were also both excellent tours. The City tour guide had knowledge incomparable to any tour we had ever been on and the Mt. Rainier tour was a very relaxing day seeing many sights on the mountain with another wonderful tour guide. read more

Went to Seattle for the first time and, since I was spending most of my time in the City, I did not want to rent a car. However, I really wanted to see the Boeing Factory. However, it is a good half hour from the City and I could find no easy public transportation alternatives to get there. So I looked through various tour companies and picked Tours Northwest, greatly based on their Yelp reviews. The tour guide picked us up from our hotel promptly at the stated time. We made a few more stops to other hotels and we were on our way. During the drive, the guide told us stories and insider tips about Seattle in general and about Boeing. He pointed out places of interest that we passed. I found the little tour bus to be very comfortable and clean. And he was a great driver (I have been on some tours where I am a bit scared of the guide's driving!). We got to Boeing and he guide handed us our tickets, pointed us in the direction of lockers (no bags or cell phones allowed on the tours) and where the tour would start. I loved the tour! Great behind the scenes overview of how planes are built and the little "city" that supports round the clock work and 30,000 workers. After the tour, we had time to visit the museum and exhibits. The tour guide politely rounded up our fellow tourists at the designated time and we headed back to the city. Again he gave us more stories and tidbits, and answered many of our questions. He dropped us right back at our hotel safe and sound. This was a great experience, and I would highly recommend this tour and the company. read more

My wife and I were starting a tour from Seattle out to Idaho,Montana and back on July 23, 2015. We arrived from New Jersey around 9:30 am pretty much on time into SeaTac airport from Newark. Our Seattle city tour was booked online by ToursNorthwest itself on their site, toursnorthwest.com. Originally I had come across a Seattle city tour booked through Viator and the tour looked ok but I had a question about our particular hotel being one of the "downtown" hotels to be picked up from. It seems that you would only be picked up at certain "downtown" hotels and if you weren't staying at one you would have to get to one to be picked up for the tour at the appropriate time. Since this was our first time to Seattle, we weren't sure whether "Sheraton" was the Sheraton that we were staying at since no address was given on the Viator site. The Viator site had a "contact us" help section so I told them about our situation and gave them the address of the hotel that we would be staying at. I asked them to verify our hotels' address to make sure our hotel was one of the "downtown" hotels to be picked up from. Viators' site said questions would be answered by e-mail within 24-36 hours. Three days later my question still had no reply. While I was waiting I decided to do some research and read other experiences from people who had taken Seattle city tours and ToursNorthwest got some very good reviews and that most of the hotel concierges were steering people to ToursNorthwest. Well, that was good enough for me. Still no reply from my e-mail question to Viator after three days so I went to ToursNortwest website and signed us up for the 3 hour tour of Seattle. When signing up they have a list of downtown hotels with addresses to choose from. Our hotel with address was listed,checked it off as a pick-up point and we were done. Our driver Loren picked us up right on time in front of our hotel. Being a native, he had a tremendous knowledge of the area. As soon as we got underway, when everyone had been picked up, he asked if anyone had to be back ontime because he had so much to show us that the tour might be a little late coming back. He of course explained that staying a little later had to be unanimous, because if anyone had to be back then he would just keep the tour at 3 hours and be back ontime. Fortunately everyone could stay later because our 3 hour tour turned into a 4 1/2 hour tour. Loren took us every where in and around Seattle. We covered 60 miles on the ground, from downtown to Freemont to the Ballard locks, seeing the "troll" and getting all the great commentary along the way. Loren took what would have been a pretty much wasted day for my wife and I waiting for our official 10 day guided tour to start the next day and changed it into what felt like a full day's adventure and saved a wasted day. We would gladly do this tour again whenever we come back... (and we do plan to come back, Montana,Idaho and Washington state are incredible ! ). Now we know why the hotel concierges steer people to ToursNorthwest. By the way, after signing up for ToursNorthwest, Viator did answer my question......no regrets going ToursNorthwest though. Couldn't have been a better experience for my four friends and myself to hire these guys to take us out to Woodinville in Seattle, stopping off at various Winery tasting rooms, the Red Hook Brewery, and then even one of the new Bourbon Distilleries that are now in the area. The whole tour was done in a Mercedes SUV and we definitely turned heads when we arrived at all of the locations. Steve (Tour Leader) was great: Knew all the best wineries to go to, at all the right times, avoiding the rush for most of them (It was a very nice day, and there were a lot of people around, but we never really were swamped). Finally, dropped us all off at our friends' house where we were staying for the weekend. As a Minnesotan who doesn't know a thing about the Seattle area, it was great hearing some of Steve's anecdotes and entertaining facts, and even our friends that have lived in the city for the past year found things they didn't know. Completely great, and the next time I go back we'll probably look these guys up for a different tour (Rainier or something). read more
