Who doesn't love a large selection of sweet and savory carbs?? Freshly baked and nicely organized, this shop boasts a variety of pastries, pies, coffees, and so much more. There were some mixed reviews about this place which made me hesitate to stop on it but the real review for me would be my own experience. Today I decided to give this place a try and see what its about and I am very happy I did so. As mentioned before, there are samples next to the item that is for sell and you can try before you buy! Some items I tried I loved - others not so much and that is ONLY due to personal taste and NOT from quality. The quality is great and the prices match what you pay for. There is so much to choose from I had a hard time deciding what to purchase - but that is just fine as I know I will be returning back. They do have a nice fresh coffee selection, bake cakes, a beautiful bakery case and counters aligned with many delectable treats. Everything is fresh and the aroma fills your nostrils with comfort and delight. Even though they were quite busy today, the entire staff was attentive, answering questions, and very pleasant. Good pastries but not all sadly. Some are a miss like their french macarons, the texture seemed off/felt few days left out with room temperature. The coffee aren't as I would like them. I had a regular iced latte but the after taste was over toasted/burned coffee and my mother didn't enjoy her today's coffee as much. However, we enjoyed their green tea cloud cakes, cream mochi and twisted donuts the most. Eventually I'd come back here for their cakes but not much for drinks. read more

This place is super cute and a great date spot! I came around 7pm on a Saturday night and most of their packaged baked goods were gone which was disappointing since they close at 9pm. I wasn't able to get much of a selection. I picked up a few packaged sweet breads and danishes and also got a slice of Milk Choco cake. The slice looked good, however it was very small. It was $6 and overpriced for the size and taste. If I pay $6 for a slice of cake I expect it to at least taste pretty good. The other packaged baked goods were great. I also asked for a cup of water and they told me they sold water bottles. I ended up buying a water bottle, but all the restaurants/bakeries I've been to give water for free which I feel like is common courtesy. Whenever I'm close by I just HAVE to stop by here for some sweet bread/pastries! The bread is so fluffy and soft! I love their milk bread with cream, with custard, with red bean and cream. So many combinations! I came by recently, at the right time it seems, and they had samples for everything! Everything was so good! I bought a big bad that day. I have mixed feeling about this place. First, their baked good are seriously delicious, baked fresh every day....and then wrapped, individually, in plastic bags. They even provide canvas bags for purchase, also wrapped in a plastic bag. Their lavender lattes is also really great. I just can't get passed the absurd amount of plastic waste this place creates. Drug some friends in here...kicking and screaming they were too full....then I had to drag them kicking and screaming back out ('cause now they wanted to stay!) We'd eaten some great grub of the non-poke variety...hibachi....and were stuffed...I knew better than to come in here first and hungry. Really great bakery with a huge variety of amazing treats. What's so special is that they have small samples of most of them for you to try before buying. After spending a vacation in Tokyo last Spring I've come to appreciate Asian baked good which generally aren't as loaded up with sugar as are our American treats. Every time I come to Austin, I stop at this little bakery. It is a Korean/ French spot. I recommend you go early for the best bread/ loaf / muffin / croissant selections, because once they are gone for the day, they usually don't make more. I enjoy the milk bread. At times they have different flavors of milk bread. Today I picked up a mango and a strawberry flavored one. They also have some desserts as well, but those are a little pricier than the packaged milk bread or other variations that they have. read more

We drove up to Austin to pick up the Birthday Cake we'd ordered for our Daughter's birthday and it was well fighting the usual traffic to Austin because we found delicious French-Fusion cakes and pastries that reminded us of the ones that we used to enjoy while we were in Japan. The pastries at this bakery are delightfully, lightly, sweet and airy. Truly delicious and well worth the 2 1/2 hour drive to Austin from our home. I like thinking weird stuff, and coming here right after a ramen trip to Michi is my version of the Texas Two-Step. Asian in Austin is definitely its own world, and I'm semi-fascinated when people don't jump in and take a shot - you can find some remarkable stuff you weren't expecting. And I think this particular chain is just fun and oddly addictive: From each individually wrapped piece of pastry - Lawd, they use a lot of plastic baggies here - to the loaves of "whipped cream" bread and baguettes and those trays and tongs that you load up as they whip out those cool TLJ bags for you at the counter, and to that whole refrigerated counter filled with pretty cake slices that you know will be light and airy and mildly sweet and not require teeth. Tour Les Jours has the Asian bakery formula down, and they do it well. I've never done anything from the hot case by the cashier, or that mini-entrée display when you first walk in - I'm here for those little pre-wrapped pastries. Everything I get is about $1.50 or so, and it's all been good. Sometimes, I just like the change from the $2.99 slice of whatever at Central Market. I do get a lot of those $3.00 Castella cakes from TLJ, but that's a childhood baggage thing I'm working on with my therapist. As far as the Korean/round-eye connection goes, here's a ten-second story: I was here with my daughter once, I mentioned they were playing some weird K-Pop through the speakers, and my daughter sighed and informed me it was Gorillaz featuring De La Soul. The counter staff just looked at me and rolled their eyes. I was more fascinated that everyone in the place apparently knew Mr Gorillaz, but I didn't. The first time I visited Tous Les Jours, I wasn't sure what to expect from this bakery. Sure, it smelled great, and everything is shiny and fresh. I knew it was a chain, but didn't know this included stores actually in Korea itself back to 1996. I enjoyed what I got, but wondered if some of it was trucked in. The biggest problem was it was evening, and there was just a slow trickle of customers. The two boys running the counter were either bored, or most likely tired in the last hour of their workday. It didn't leave me with much of an impression. But.... My second visit was Saturday morning, prime time for those making a bakery run. The store was buzzing. Some folks grabbing one or two things, while others used the wooden trays near the front to gather many items to share with their families (or eat alone in front of their TVs in shame... don't judge!). There's coffee and a few small cafe tables. The lady and young girl working the counter were both charming and vibrant, answering all my questions and then some. Yes... Everything is made in that store daily, not a factory in Dallas. Yes... They do sell croissants (though I wouldn't freak out if they didn't). Yes... They sell most things in individual servings, including several cakes (see my pic). "Tous Le Jours" ------ Every day. If not for my wife's gluten allergy, I could see going there frequently. Before feeling like you are being deceived by the name, do a bit of research. So why does a Korean bakery have a French name? First off, bread and pastries as Westerners know it is not a part of the traditional Korean diet. Recently, however, Korean bakers trained in France and Germany have opened small bakeries. To my knowledge, it's very popular in Seoul. Tous Les Jours is a successful French-influenced bakery chain. They use French techniques and make pastries and such to suit Korean, and I'm going to go on a limb and say all Asian tastes. Typical Asians tend to have a dislike for overly dense or overly sweet desserts. I'm so happy we get to taste a bit of modern Korean culture. Korean food is more than bad Bulgogi and Kimchi. I'm hoping a Vietnamese bakery will follow suit. I love that the products rotate and baked fresh everyday. I've been a few times and each time, they had different stuff. The pastries must be eaten in the same day. Mousses and cakes need refrigeration. The mousses and cakes have this slightly sweet, and a flavour that is distinctively Asian...the same flavours that reminds of candies I've eaten as a child. The fried pastries are light and airy. The bread is spongy. Come with the right expectations. Nothing is very sweet, even though one might expect them to be. The flavors can be a bit different for a dessert or bread, ie..melon flavored pastry. The labels don't tell very much about a product so it's sort of a guessing game. read more

This place will break your resolve to diet and avoid sugar. It is so delicious. I love the texture of their milk bread, so soft and fluffy. Their hazelnut cream bread is also one of my favorites. The best goods sell out early, so come in the afternoon. Also if you come early, there are tons of samples everywhere, but watch out, you'll end up buying even more then your plan. I've checked in here over 65 times... so I guess it's time that I reviewed it. I'm actually now updating this review after today's experience and dropping it a star to 2 stars. I was almost ripped off $9 after one of the most confusing interactions at their register ever... and I caught the error, but the manager DIDN'T believe me. It took 7 minutes of arguing, wherein I was told I was wrong the entire time to clear it up... are you kidding me? I'm a regular here to the point that they know what I order... what a complete failure in customer service. Continue on to read the rest of the review and why it barely gets the 2 stars I left it. Also note that their prices significantly increased... cake went from $3.75 to $5 a slice and their shaved ice went from $4 and reasonable servings to only $9 and massive bucket servings. All other pastries jumped in price as well... it's now ridiculous to purchase something from here. I like Tous Les Jours as a chain coffee shop/bakery. The coffee is great here. The reason I'm always here is that my home office and office that I share on Lamar are almost equidistant from it north and south... so it makes sense to come here a lot. Why did it keep 2 stars? The place is always super clean, the wifi is always awesome and the coffee is always good. Another detractor? The girls that they have working here are almost always talking smack about customers and giggling. Some of us, including my korean girlfriend speak korean and understand exactly what they're saying. It's rude, unprofessional and immature. It's not all of them, but it's enough of them to lower the star rating from what should be 4 or 5 to a 2. Superb place to grab Asian/Korean bread & pastries! What a great find!! I've been searching for a legit Asian Bakery in Austin for a while. So glad we stumbled across this place. We were randomly walking around the plaza since we were grocery shopping at the nearby market. The pastries and bread here are a little more expensive than I am use to. However, from all the items that I purchased, I definitely think its worth the little splurge! They have a variety of sweet to savory buns/pastries as well as an assortment of delicate cakes, croquettes (kimchi croquette! super interesting), drinks and Korean shaved ice. PS. After doing some researching online, I realize that this bakery is actually a huge chain with many locations across the US and of course in Korea. I wish I could say that this place is worth the visit, but it's really not, but I guess that depends on what your expectations are. 1. This is not a French cafe, it's an Asian franchise. 2. If you know anything about pastries (croissants etc) lower your expectations a lot and you might be able to finish your croissant. If you are happy with Starbucks croissants you may be happy with these. 3. Cakes are passable but nothing special. They have the best pastries! OMG! Their cakes are really yummy although they are very expensive. They have fried "donuts" that have a sticky rice consistency with delicate fillings that will melt in your mouth. They have shaved ice and even homemade popsicles. They also have croquettes. Everything was good except the croquettes. The interior space is not too big but there is definitely enough space for you to sit and talk while you enjoy your pastry and goodies. Holy Mother Earth and all things wonderful, how in the world have I worked across the parking lot for the duration of time they have been open and not been there??? What a waste of time! I could be shoving their delicious sweets in my mouth on a daily basis...so for that, I am thankful for only just discovering their glory! However, now that I have, I will have to pray to Mother Earth that she help me have the restraint to visit only once in awhile. My first visit was to pick out a cake for one of my staff member's last day. There were plenty of cakes from which to choose. All kinds and shapes; more of a smaller variety and price ranges of $25-$35-ish. We chose a vanilla nut cake that was decorated sparsely with dried fruits and a cream cheese frosting. They even put a cute little chocolate guitar pick shaped piece and wrote, "Please don't leave us!" on it for us. While waiting, I tried a lavender blueberry 'macaroon'...if that's what you call it. It was small and cost about $2.25 and worth every penny!!!! The flavors went perfectly together and the texture was creamy, yet fluffy. Ok, this is starting to sound all food porny, so I'ma stop there. The staff was very sweet and told us that they bake the breads (which looked fantastic) on site, but all else was made at a different location. They had several donuts there...one in particular, I will try next. It was a big round ball that was pumpkin flavor and looked like it had poppy seeds in it and no sugar coating. Chocolate Croissant!! - make sure and grab that! This is a magnificent little spot where you can relax and stuff yo face with all the treats you can handle. They also have some great breads as well. The little alcove in the right corner is a nice spot to relax compared to the bench style seating on the left wall, those put you at an uncomfortable height with the table and are not back friendly if you are using a computer. Almost everything I've had... Even the hotdog wrapped in dough and pizza sauce... Not sure if that's the technical way to describe it.. But that's exactly what it is! - is good! Great place and friendly service! They even let me order a coffee 45 minutes before they were open, just happened to walk in and the door wasn't locked or anything and had no knowledge of hours when I walked past the sign. Just in case you didn't catch the fact that it's located in a Korean shopping center, Tous Les Jours is not, as the name might lead you to believe, an authentic French bakery, but it is an authentic Korean bakery. Go in knowing that and enjoy! The place is absolutely adorable, and everything from the individually-packaged baked goods to the workers' cute uniforms pulls the aesthetic together nicely. They have a wide assortment of items ranging from the Asian favorites, such as buns filled with sweet beans and the like, to the French-influenced items like baguette. Just a tiny warning: If you're used to super authentic French pastries, and you've never had French pastries done in an Asian bakery, it won't be what you expect. Don't get me wrong. I freaking love Asian bakeries, and Tous Les Jours is doing a wonderful job, but it's just slightly different. I've tried various sweet breads (pillowy and delicious) and their lemonade, which was kind of weird, but not bad. It didn't taste like instant, but there was something different about it that just didn't taste like fresh-squeezed, either. Maybe I'm just imagining things. They also have a few coffee drinks. A good amount of seating is available both inside and outside, but it's not a huge space, so when it's crowded, as it was this morning, I'd imagine it's better to grab it and go. Its actually a branch of a Korean bakery so they always have the freshest ingredients from Korea. If you are ever in need of a birthday cake, Tous Les Jours has the perfect options from potato cakes to chocolate cakes. On my visit to this bakery, I actually ordered a chocolate cake for a friend's birthday. The cake turned out to be perfect! The cake had just the right amount of sweet to it. My friends and I really enjoyed the cake. In addition, I really like breads that they have here such as the pasty with sausage. The bread is perfectly toasted with the sausage. Overall, Tous Le Jours is the perfect combination of quality and quantity. They have endless amounts of perfect pastries and desserts. Even the service here is impeccable. read more

Having lived in Korea for a few years, and visited the chain in Korea, I was very happy to find the Tour Les Jours here in Austin to be identically the same as the one back home. They have a wide selection of quirky Korean baked goods, most notably they also have very delicious Korean rice cake treats. I highly recommend them, they're usually in a basket by the cashier. Their bakery is also set up as a sit down cafe, so you can buy coffee or hot chocolate to go with your bread & just chat with a friend. Go early if you want to try different breads, towards closing everything gets bought out leaving only the less popular flavors to choose from. The employees themselves are friendly and helpful. I love all their breads especially the pumpkin sweet potato its delightful so flavorful. I love how they have the most amazing cakes, in my case I had a slice of cake the tiramisu and strawberry they were so fluffy and sweet and yummy.
