Yellow Brick Bakery is such a gem! My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a quick snack and were greeted warmly as soon as we walked in. Service was kind and patient as we picked out what we wanted - a butterscotch blondie bar for me, and a lemon curd hand pie for him. Both were so darn good! The blondie was absolutely to die for - delicious crust and toppings. I can't wait to try other items. Not only do they serve a variety of delicious baked goods, but their store also carries with other local products. I love the shop local mentality! The inside is nice and quiet, with seating available to enjoy your treat or visit with a friend. Definitely a must visit! read more

This women-owned business is a delightful from-scratch pastry haven!! A quiet and quaint store, I'm sure they'll have what you desire--savory or sweet! They have a special or limited edition **St. Patrick's Day Menu** (now until at least St. Patrick's Day and maybe through Saturday). I didn't see this menu online and if it was listed at the store, I overlooked it. Very cute bakery. We picked up several small pies and a hand pie. Only got a photo of the apple since we dug in immediately. The strawberry rhubarb had a very nice tartness. The apple was perfect. The lemon hand pie was huge. The cherry pie was very sweet. We had good service and reasonable pricing too! read more

We obviously don't get out to any of the Farmer's Markets in the area as much as we should or we would have discovered this bakery a lot sooner! Fortunately for me, they decided to open up a store close to my house! After seeing pictures online of their cronuts, I knew I needed it ASAP. Unfortunately, they were out of cronuts both times we had stopped by but it allowed us to try other items. So far we are absolutely OBSESSED with the pecan sticky buns and the candied jalapeno, bacon and cheese hand pies. The crust on the hand pies is AMAZING! I normally don't like pie crusts but these are so buttery and flaky after you have warmed them up. I can't wait to try something new each time we visit. read more

Omg, the pastries!!!! We got a variety to try. choc fudge cronut- the choc frosting was just right, not too sweet. Sundried tomato feta hand pie- savory and delicious. Almond bearclaw- filling was a little strong, but good. Blueberry cardamom pastry- def a fav, everyone loved it! Ham and Swiss croque monsieur- nice flavors. The bakery opens at 7, I got there at 830 and a few things were already sold out, so I'll have to come earlier next time to try more options! read more

Hidden little gem in Olathe! Had read some good reviews so thought I should check it out. Skylar the owner introduced himself and told me how he and his wife source the ingredients locally which I think is really great. Everything in the display case looked interesting and yummy. Lots of different choices of hand pies, pies, cookies, danish and cronuts. Some sweet and some savory. Many things I've never heard of but want to come back and try later. Today I ordered the cronut holes and a raspberry danish. Both were fantastic but especially the danish. Don't even try to take a bite in the car on the way home though because the pastries are so light and flaky you will make a mess! Trust me - I know! I will definitely be back and so happy this little gem is practically right in my backyard! read more

I met YBB at the Lenexa Farmers Market and pre-ordered their pumpkin & apple pies for Thanksgiving. You guys, this bakery is AMAZING! From my super simple phone order with friendly staff, to the easiest pick up at the holiday market (where they had it set aside and ready for me), to trying a slice before Thanksgiving (come on, they were staring at me), to enjoying them with family on Thanksgiving day - 10/10 experience!! Side note: My husband who isn't even a big pie fan said the apple pie was the best he has ever had and was one of the best desserts he's ever had too! This was my 3rd time enjoying treats from this bakery. Everything has been amazingly delicious. The cookies are addictive - perfect balance of flavors, perfect texture, no weird aftertaste. Best cookies I've ever had from a bakery! The bear claws were also really good. I've heard they have good cronuts, but I'm not a fan of cronuts so haven't tried them yet...but after 3 successful visits to this bakery, maybe I just haven't had a good cronut and that'll be next on my list of things to try. Gluten-free options are delicious! I stopped there for the first time this weekend and found 2 of the best GF cookies I have had to date. The snickerdoodles and the mudslide cookies were absolutely fantastic. None of the sandy, gritty texture that often accompanies the gluten-free flours used and the flavors were heavenly. I also tried the cake bites which exceeded my expectations-moist and packed with complex flavor! The pastries which weren't GF looked amazing but I couldn't try them. prices were as expected for gluten-free. This small local bakery is well-worth trying. read more

I called on a Thursday to order a chocolate Bundt cake for a birthday. I was told it would be ready after 8am on Saturday. Showed up to pick it up and the cake wasn't made. Now I'm scrambling to find a cake with no notice! Yellow brick might have good pastries but do not count on them for special orders. I have never been to this business. I have never been to Olathe, KS. but through a complicated series of events I accidentally sent the last 50$ to my name to Yellow Brick Bakery via Venmo. As soon as I realized this my heart dropped into my stomach thinking this money was gone forever. As a last ditch effort I called Yellow Brick Bakery hoping they would see my accidental transaction and send me my money back. I did not have high expectations considering the times we live in. I was proven wrong. An extremely sweet, helpful, nice, and professional young lady (wish I had caught her name to give her proper credit) answered the phone, heard my plight, and relayed this to the owners of Yellow Brick Bakery. They promptly sent my money back to me just when I needed it the most. These people restored my faith in humanity. If their product is even as half as good as the way they do business then I would highly recommend. I have half a mind to make a detour through Olathe just to make a stop here in the fall.
