    Guster
    Mary T.

Guster brought me to Buffalo late last month. The band had a show at Town Ballroom, which is in the city's theatre district. I am normally not a fan of general admission shows. You never know whether your standing room-only experience will be horrible or enjoyable. It was the latter case. I was pleased and relieved! I drove down from Niagara Falls, NY, where I was staying for this visit. All parking on the streets was taken. Instead, I found a parking lot across the street from this venue. I paid for parking online and then crossed the street to line up with fellow Guster fans. The process to enter this venue was civil and well-organized. Two folks way before you got to the main entrance checked your ID and then placed a bracelet around your wrist. When you got to the main doors, you had different lineups for will-call ticket pickups and another to show your ticket barcode on your phone. Mine was scanned and I was good. I don't know whether there's a bag policy. I tend to visit concert venues and sports arenas with my phone, keys, and a credit card. This theatre is a cozy throwback to decades ago, but restored to be current. I saw the lineup for Guster merchandise. I had to get a t-shirt and paid with a credit card. I used the washroom twice -- before and after the concert. This place designed the women's washroom nicely. Each stall had the door open away from you when you exited it. The doorknob was a large crystal knob that looked classy and pretty. The stall was spacious and clean. There was a woman sitting by the sink area. She had a table where you could freshen up with perfume and other items. There was also a tip jar. I didn't bother with any of it, but it was cool to witness. I washed my hands, dried them, and left. There was a coat check. It was $3. However, it only accepted cash. I didn't have any. Next to that was a snack area. I saw everything from hot pizza slices, to chilled bottled water. I don't normally get an alcoholic drink at a concert. At this classy place, it felt appropriate. I got a coconut rum and coke. It was $9. Not horrible! I was fortunate that the bar accepted credit cards. I paid and tipped with it. The drink was perfect. I got a decent spot to see Guster. I was off to the side, near the short set of steps by the stage. It was perfect to hang my jacket on the handrail. There was also a small ledge to place your drink on it. I was extremely happy, especially saving $3 for a coat check! My view was decent, despite having a few folks in front of me. It helped that they were shorter in height. The concert was fantastic. Guster rarely comes over the border (I have only seen it happen once), so I tend to see the band stateside. This concert in Buffalo was the shortest distance that I have travelled stateside to see the band. Doors opened at 7 pm. The concert started at 8 pm. No opening act. The show started on time. Guster put on a stellar performance. It was excellent all around. Staff were super nice and friendly. I loved my first concert experience at this venue. I'd return again to take in another concert. Full house for Alexandra Kay. 10/8/2025.

Great mid size concert venue and reuse of old space in a historic district. Only down side was the outdoor wait to get in the doors for the show. Facility is general admission and most is standing only.

Love this venue. The club has great acoustics, plenty of bars in both their room with the stage and the lounge area where you enter the club. I didn't have to wait for the bathroom either, which is a huge plus. Every time we've been to town ballroom, it has been a blast.

You simply can't beat this place as a music venue. Years ago, the sound was garbage and the place was kind of divey, but you can tell that this owner has put a lot of money into the place to upgrade everything. The sound, and especially the lighting are fantastic. If you have a chance, check out the front room (opposite the doors). The owner has collected a ton of memorabilia for the "Buffalo Casino," and it's so cool to see all the big names that have played here over the years.

As far as the sound quality and view of a band/artist for a concert venue, this is my favorite spot to see a show in Buffalo . Only a couple of complaints . Standing for a 3hr plus show (standing room only here) can be exhausting for the 40 and over demographic. Also two drinks came to just under $20! (nothing fancy just soda and a mixer!) If you have to pay for parking and coat check , it can make for a pricey night . But with the great acoustics and historic atmosphere, you will no doubt have a memorable night . I got the pleasure of seeing Twenty one Pilots and Walk the Moon here before they were on the radio and seeing them set up their own stage is mind blowing thinking back on it. 10,000 maniacs and The Great Train Robbery played this last Friday for a charity event and the crowd was really engaged with the show. Check out their vast variety of artists performing on their website!

Town Ballroom is my favorite concert venue in Buffalo. It's not super dirty, a great size, and you can see no matter where you are in the venue (I'd know since I'm 5'2" and have stood nearly everywhere lol). The sound quality is fantastic and they always put on a great light show and use tons of confetti. The bar is white large and wraps around so you can easily find a spot to grab a drink. They have some of the best bookings in Buffalo. Definitely a venue you need to check out if you haven't yet!

The best concert venue in Buffalo. Big enough to host a well known band but small enough to make it an intimate event.

We want to come to town to see Sylvan Esso. I do not see a seating chart so I am assuming there are no seats??????Did Al Capone sit? Just kidding. Look forward to the show

No seating in the performance room. You stand and there are some area's to set your drink, but if packed limited. Some sitting in the lobby.

Where is parking for the Town Ballroom? Is it safe? What is the cost to park there? Thanks

You can often find parking up and down main street that is metered parking, or there are several near by lots that you have to pay for. I like to park in the lot that is behind the ballroom, on Washington (again, a pay lot).

What is the average beer price there?

I believe the average beer price is about $5.00!

Her bass player is amazing! He sounds like Brad Paisley! I have no musical talent so it really moved me how well he played the bass. The other artists played well too! The venue is fantastic. It was my first time here. Sportsman's Tavern bought the venue three or four years ago. It isn't a dive bar like Sportsman's Tavern though. It's much more intimate. It's classier too. I liked the way they had the tables set up. I loved the stage area too. There is a small bar area where you can order drinks. There was also a waitress coming around asking if we wanted drinks or food. They have a small menu, and the food sounded good, but I wasn't hungry. You can park on the street or in their small parking lot, which holds about 25/30 spots. You'll enter the venue via a dark door near the front parking spot. There is much more room inside, than how it looks from their lot. The lot was a bit hard to find. I ended up driving around the block and then I noticed it. I'd love to come back here and see another concert soon!

Best to get there early! - at 7:45, most tables were taken. By 8:30 the crowd was packed at the bar and there almost wasn't enough room to even stand (maybe it's not normally that busy?) - bathrooms were clean and spacious - staff were all friendly - i recommend buying your ticket online ahead of time. I had to go early to buy one at the door (when I called at 7, they said they expected it to sell out before 8) - it looks a little odd from the outside, but The Cave is definitely a cool spot to stop at if you like live music!

Iron Works is an ideal venue in a lot fo way- not too big, not too small, and the perfect place for an intimate experience with a band you enjoy. Most recently we saw Caligula Blushed for their first visit to Buffalo. My other half has been a fan of The Smiths since forever, but we have stopped seeing Morrissey in concert. This was the next best thing to seeing Johnny Marr in concert. Great show, good crowd, not too crowded, and people were actually there to see the show unlike when we saw Nick Lowe at Iron Works and some people would not stop talking!! Post-pandemic, but also anytime, I have to say how incredibly wonderful it is to get fresh air during a show. The garage style door by the stage was open letting in some natural night and lots of fresh air on a cool night, which is really perfect for a show. I'm over crowded, stuffy, hot, and dark. The opening leads to an adorable patio with lots of tables, chairs, and string lights. There's a platform with seating and a little balcony with seating. There are lots places to set your drink whole dancing as the platform and pillars all have ledges. There are two selve-serve water coolers, which is also great to see. I tried a summer cocktail - a Loganberry Dirty Shirley, which was super sweet but that's what it's designed to be. A Coke was $3 and the cocktail specials were $10. Mocktails are $8 and there are other n/a offerings as well, along side beer, liquor, and what have you. They have a garden burger and fries on the menu, in addition to other meat and cheese foods. Tickets to this show were $12, which is so reasonable for a night out. This is more fun than going to the movies and should definitely be a go to if you want to get out of the house. Fresh air, water, seating...all this sets Iron Works apart. If you haven't been, go, and of it's been awhile, go back. My other half was reluctant to go out but was so glad he did.

It features: 1) reasonably priced drinks, a fundamental part of the constitution of dive bars, offered in exchange for you overlooking the generally aged and squalid character of the establishment as a whole. 2) Two large indoor areas (the up and down of a split-level), the rear of which frequently hosts often-free live music (there's a Thursday open mic I attend), plus an outdoor patio for the warmer months. 3) Multiple TV's for the sports fans plus electric darts and a jukebox to pass the time. 4) Surprisingly good bar food that is also surprisingly veg and vegan-friendly. This is also quite reasonably priced, but the incredibly tiny kitchen area at the west end of the bar can get overwhelmed during rushes, leading to lengthy wait times. 5) Folksy and direct service of the dive-bar variant: friendly and colloquial, the more so the better known you are, without the greasy and obsequious taint of corporatism. Parking is on-street, but maybe you're allowed to use the lot across from it? It has no sign and I've never asked. In any case, CPG is a keeper if you're partial to the benefits of shot-and-beer, working-class local pubs.

The museum was fantastic, truly a hidden gem and full of lots of local music history. George Scott, the president of the museum, gave us a tour and he shared incredible stories that really brought the history into modern day context. There are several exhibits, including: - a timeline that follows the evolution of American music. Each genre is associated with a time period and has a number, which can be punched into a sound stick so you can hear songs from that era.
