I have now bought new tires for two of our vehicles at Town Fair Tire, Middletown, RI and have been very impressed on both occasions. This time around I wanted to mount more comfortable tires on an additional set of rims for my Wrangler, as the OEM ATs were surviving Aquidneck Island's never ending potholes and frost heaved roads, but were sending too much of our third world road's jolts to the passenger compartment. I called to get help narrowing down my research to one of two tire options, spoke to Delton and his knowledge of the tires was not only very helpful but exceptionally impressive. Delton had my tires in the shop as well as mounted on my extra rims within 24 hours and though his coordination and oversight of my preferences was impeccable, Ed also was ever vigilant to ensure everything was happening on time, up to their high standards and that they were meeting my every expectation. Since COVID a lot of businesses have had to lower the bar for a multitude of reasons, but Town Fair Tire Middletown, RI still has their bar set high and has the highest professional standards and level of customer care. If they tell you a time don't plan on that time. Additionally I asked if my vehicle wasn't going to be ready by the 3pm then let me just get the keys and go, so what do they do? They pull it in at 2:50 now it's 3:30 and I have somewhere to be at 4pm been sitting here since 1:30. Not at all happy about that. Better than expected. Service was great. The service agent looked over my Ford Escape and gathered the info he needed (driving type, average miles I driver per year, what the car is used for, etc.) to help me decide which option was best. The last time I bought tires no one ever looked at the car first. He showed me several different tires and I have to say I was very impressed with his working knowledge of each, where it's made, the manufacturer's history, what actual materials go into them, even explaining to me what each tread actually does. I thought I knew something about tires and I discovered I know nothing. I have bought tires many times but this was the first time I bought them because I was shown such meticulous details about them. No hard sell, no attempt to bump me up to a higher cost set. Just straight no-nonsense let's get this done attitude. They also conducted a suspension system inspection and informed me I needed new tie rods, which I already knew. Everything is put in writing. Very satisfied with my new tires. One caveat, these guys get very busy. This was the day after Christmas and I thought the store was surprisingly crowded; the agent said no this is actually pretty slow for us. It did take about 2 hours before they took the vehicle into the garage and a total 3 hour wait for new tires and an alignment. I can't fault them, they have only so many bays and high volume customer traffic. Point is be prepared to wait. They do text you updates regarding their progress on your car. Otherwise they were thorough, they did the job right, and when speaking with any employee I always felt I had his full attention. Overall a very positive experience. read more

Awful service. Called to make an appointment, said not needed. Arrived to a 45 min wait to check in for a tire repair. No one in line in front of me. 3 reps typing on computers, taking calls. I should have left then. Finally leave car, they say 1.5 hours. Call back at 2 hours. Not done. Call back at 3 hours and told in the bay. So get a ride back there after 4 hours expecting car to be done? Nope. Sitting in same spot but told I was next. Took my keys and left. Unbelievable. Avoid this place!! read more

They damaged the back of my car backing out of garage, incompetent help! I guess you have to open the garage door before backing out. Had to go back because they could not complete the alignment job. Had an appointment for 4:00....evidently an appointment doesn't mean anything there as I waited 45 minutes and they still had not brought my car in. Took my keys back and left. I worked with Jordan to get new rims and tires on my car. He was very helpful, walking me through the process, and showing me the different options vs. price points. He even carried the rims I was thinking about out to my car so I could see how they would look. I had my husband help me look into the pricing since he wasn't with me when I purchased, and he concluded their price points were fair and reasonable. The staff is friendly and does their best to accommodate. However in my experience, the service is slow and less than optimal. Several employees are at the front desk, but there's still a very long wait time for a simple tire repair. We had to take our car in 2 times to fix the same problem- only to be sent to a different auto shop in the end. Overall, there's probably a better and faster place in town to get tire work done. read more

Had all 4 tires replaced a couple of weekends ago at the Middletown RI store. Ed, Joldan, Steve, and Mike really took care of things quickly and got us out with plenty of time left. While they were at it they also replaced a bad TPMS sensor. Very happy with the prompt service; they got my car right in and there is a monitor in the waiting area where you can watch them work on the car. They also estimate how long before your car is finished. Very good experience and I would definitely recommend them for wheel/tire/alignment work. They have a lot of tires on the shelf, but not my first choice, which is why I rated a 4. I'm sure if I had my heart set on getting my first choice they would have gotten them. read more

Never had a bad experience. Got my custom wheels from them, and new tires. Taylor is a nice guy who seems to know his stuff. Usually crowded, but there's a reason for that. If you schedule an appt on their website it will notify you there is a possibility you may wait up to 30 mins past your appt time, to reduce any frustrating surprises. Only thing is, count on adding $150-$200 on whichever set of 4 new tires you purchase to calculate a rough estimate of the actual price. Can't vouch for every Town Fair Tire, but this one is hard to beat. read more

This will be my tire shop from now on. They are very nice and accommodating. They charge very reasonably and you could see they really take care of your car. I made an appointment and it was on time. There was no delay or any problems. They have a lounge where I can wait. Mili was the pne that helped me with the wheel alignment . He explained the packages they had but not pushy about it. Overall pretty good. I happened to slash my tire at five thirty pm and had to fly out the next morning. They didn't have the brand of tire I needed which led to buying all new tires but they mounted and balanced them for me right there and got me good on the road. Some places would have turned me away and said they couldn't do it because it was too near to closing but they didn't. That was pretty cool of them. I purchased 4 new tires about a month ago. I worked with Michael he was very knowledgable of the current sales and treated me fairly. I went in knowing which tires I wanted---he showed me the tires I asked for but also pointed out similar tires made by the same manufacturer just a different trim---because they were on sale. He was mindful of my budget and that means a lot. I recommend this location, and I'll go there again next time I need tires (hopefully not anytime soon though!) read more

I'm from out of town and was enjoying Newport until I clipped my tire and punctured the outside of my back right wheel on Friday afternoon. I went right over to town fair tire because it was the closest place. The one tire we ordered was not going to be there until Monday, we showed up to our eleven o'clock appointment and was disappointed that the tire had still not arrived. Even though the tire was not put on on time we got a call from the manager at this location a week or two later who very sincerely apologized and even sent us $50 back for our trouble. I was very impressed by the costumer service (especially the managers) and because of him we will remain costumers, not many car places would have gone to that trouble to reach out to a disgruntled costumer. read more

Really bad experience there. Took 45 minutes to pick out tires because the salesperson continued to ramble on. Then took an hour and a half to put on a few tires. There was no one in front of me. My car actually sounds worse after putting the new tires on so I'll probably go elsewhere to see what they messed up. I would not recommend them. read more

The employees are SO RUDE. Not helpful at all. They were so nice to every white person in there. As soon as I said I have an appointment the tone changed. I waited to ask someone a question and he walked away. Nothing was done to my car that I had talked about with the "tire expert " on the phone. Smh. Typically my husband deals with most of the car issues and has dealt with TFT a number of times in the past. Personally, I love Johnny's Getty. Not only are they professional and courteous, they are also really good at what they do, which is why they are always slammed and sometimes hard to get an appointment with on short notice. Getting back to TFT, my husband had a busy schedule so I took the car in yesterday because there was some vibration when stepping on the peal and my husband suspected it might be a tire related (i.e., balancing) issue. We bought the tires from TFT so it made sense to go there instead of Johnny's. Anyway, as i started to describe the vibration issue to the guy at TFT he automatically assumed it was the brake pedal. Right away he said, "that's not us, that's brakes. trust me I've been been a mechanic for many years." I stopped him and said there is vibration when you step on the GAS pedal. He said "Well you said brake pedal" I told him, "No, I never said BRAKE pedal." In addition to the his rudeness and poor communication skills I was kept waiting for a long time at the counter. One guy was taking care of a customer, while the other was doing something with papers behind the counter. As i stood there the guy taking care of papers took a call, left the front desk to go find who ever it was that they were calling for, came back to the person on the phone, said something and then went back to look for the person for a second time. When he finally came back to the counter he asked if he could help me. While he is helping me another call comes in, and he takes it. Then he has the nerve to turn his attention to the people behind me and ask if anyone is there to pick up a car. I'm sorry, but I waited patiently for someone to work with me. Is it too much to ask for some dedicated attention when it was finally my turn? Good customer service means focusing on customers' needs, and making them feel like you are there to help them. When i went back a few hours later to pick up the car it was the same thing all over again. I had to wait and wait. The man behind the counter was on the computer and never acknowledged me. When he was finally done on the computer he looks up and said, "You here to pick up your car?" No hello or how can I help you, no customer service skills whatsoever. I paid and had to ask where my car was because he just took payment and moved on to something else. Good customer service goes a long way. This place lacks that!! Maybe a little customer service training or hiring more people for the counter would help improve customer experiences. I'm not asking for red carpet treatment just common courtesy. read more

Great at selling you tires, horrible customer service once you have the tires. I made an appointment and brought my young child with me when I had a nail in my rear tire. When I arrived, the man who made the appointment for me, "Ed", stated there would be a 2hour wait time. I informed him that he had made the appointment earlier in the day and I was unable to wait 2hours, as previously stated on the phone. He was unable to accommodate me so I went to Monroe and received excellent, prompt service/repair without the attitude. Won't ever purchase from this chain again. read more

I was in the market for new tires and wheels for my Jeep Wrangler. I walked in and was greeted promptly, Taylor asked me what I was looking for, we looked over possible combinations, along with pricing. Taylor even brought out different wheels to show me what they would look like up against my jeep. I left that day with the quote and returned first thing in the morning to order my tires and rims. The customer service was so professional and helpful. Taylor never pressured me into buying anything or made me feel like I HAD to buy from them. I was updated numerous times as to when my tires will be in, and once they were An appointment was made then installed with precision. All the employees were so helpful and stayed very professional. The knowledge and shop service at this Town Fair Tire is good and prompt, but be careful at the front desk. In 2014, I purchased the Road Hazard Guarantee ($8.99 per tire) from another TFT -- which is clear to any TFT in their shared computer network -- but the Middletown TFT said I had not purchased the guarantee and charged me for the replacement tire. I mailed in my records to TFT headquarters in Connecticut and kindly received a full reimbursement for the tire within a couple of weeks. read more

I recently took my SUV here for new tires. The initial experience seemed fine. The salesperson did not seem pushy and I had no complaints, until the first time I took my car on the highway and it started to shake at 62. I took the car back, and they claimed to rebalance the wheels and I was told they stripped all the weights and it was all set. I promptly took it out on the highway (it was snowing that day so I couldn't go far), and it still vibrated. My car was smooth as silk before that point. I took it right back and after being looked at like I was crazy, I was told to bring it back the next day so their most senior mechanic could look at it. I promptly took it over to Sullivan Tire (I had bought tires from them a year earlier for my Subaru with no problems). The technician told me that not only were ALL 4 tires out of balance, but that Town Fair had not stripped the weights off the wheels, but had piled on 9 weights on one wheel. According to the technician, this was more than even a large truck would ever have. I promptly took the receipt for the balancing from Sullivan Tire over to Town Fair and they reimbursed me. The only reason I am giving them 1 star and not 0 is because they made good on the money I paid for the balancing at Sullivan. Do not waste your time here. I will never go back to Town Fair. Sullivan Tire has a good reputation and they do good work. Town Fair is incompetent. read more

I'm not sure why they have signs up to review them on Yelp because nobody was happy in the waiting room when I was there earlier in the week. I had bought 4 tires from them last fall and had terrible service from them at that point. Not going to go in to everything, but let's just say, I didn't want to go back. But I had purchased the hazard insurance and had hit a pot hole and had a tumor on a tire so I went back. I wish I had know that I could have brought it to another location... However, I made an appointment for 9:00, showed up 10 minutes early. They sold me on tire rotation and told me it would only add 10 minutes so I agreed. I explained that I had an appointment to get to so if they were sure, I would do it. OK, do it. Well, at 9:15 my car was still sitting waiting. I asked if they still thought they could get me out of there by 9:40 and of course they assured me they could. At 9:40 they told me it would just be 5 more minutes. I got my car at 9:55. While I was sitting there I met a couple who also had a 9:00 appointment. Their car was still waiting to be taken when I left. I will not go back to this location. read more

Worst Customer Service EVER!!!! I went into there yesterday at 4:42PM with a flat tire.......the guys at the counter said that they would look at the car in 30 minutes then decide and would either fix the tire or replace the tire. At 6:05PM one of the guys comes out and tells me they cant get to the car and sends me on my way with an almost flat tire........after making me wait an hour and 23 minutes. They couldn't figure out that they couldn't get to me before stealing almost an hour and a half of my day. They gave me some BS about I didn't have an appointment........well its difficult to make an appointment for something that hadn't happened yet. Should I have looked into my crystal ball to see if I was going too get a flat tire??? You would think that they would do the right thing and help a customer in distress..........nope. At that point it was too late to go to another tire store so I had to deal with a flat tire this morning in 30 degree weather. There are many choices for tire repair and replacement out there.......don't choose these guys!!! Save yourself the trouble!!!! read more

Bought 4 new tires on the promise of free rotations, well, everytime I tried to take the car in without an appointment, after calling and someone saying I could get right in, there was always at least a couple of hours wait. WHO has that much time to wait in the waiting room. This time is the last straw, I called the night before and spoke to someone about bringing my car in the next morning, they said they open at 7:45 and if I got it in early they could get it done quickly, well, I was there at 7:50, the guy who helped me says it is going to be at least a couple hours, and that they were in working till 9 the night before and they were slammed. If they knew this the night before, Why they keep lying about being able to get it done makes no sense. I would recommend as Im going to do from here on out is go to BJs. The main guy there, I think his name is Ed is great. Ive had no problems with him, he has always been a straight shooter when talking to me, but Everyone else just say what they have to say to get you in there. read more

Unfortunately I have a poor review. I arrived at 1130 am today to have my winter tires changed over. I was told it would be 30 minutes to get my car in and another hour to change them over. I had an appt elsewhere in 2 hours so I agreed. I returned after an hour and 20 minutes and my car hadn't even been brought into the service bay yet. I asked if I could take my car because I had an appt and to come back later. They said yes and I made an appt at 4 pm to get the tires changed over. The gentlemen apologized and said that would be fine and that an appt was a good idea because when I came back my car would get priority. When I returned at 4 I was checked in and said it would get started within 30 minutes. After 40 minutes I checked outside and my car still had not been brought in to be serviced. I approached the desk and asked the gentleman working at the counter what the holdup was. I was explaining to him my experience earlier in the day and he interrupted my to ask my name. I continued to tell him my earlier experience and he interrupted me again and said he would go find out my cars status. I sat down and he never came back to give me an update. I got a text from them at 519pm that my car was ready. I approached the service desk and saw my car in the tv monitor with all 4 tires off still. I waited another half hour and finally my car was done. They gave me my keys no apology nothing. I will not be bringing my business here in the future. read more

I am stationed in Newport, RI and I thought Town Fair Tire would be a good a place as any to get 4 tires for my 2012 Charger R/T. The Michelin tires that were on my car were way out of my price range. That's when Town Fair recommended Nexen tires. I spent $993. on 4 tires. The next day, I took my car for a ride and I wasn't happy with the rougher ride. My father spoke to a Good Year salesperson in Illinois (my home town) and they said that they too sell Nexen tires and that they make a lot of money on them. The Nexen tires are not nearly as good as the Good Year Assurance tires that Good Year recommended. Good Year quoted my father $1037. out the door including rim cleaning, balancing, tax and a 65,000 mile warranty. I went back to Town Fair Tire 4 days and 50 miles later to see if they could take back the Nexen tires and allow me to purchase the Good Year tires that they also sell. I was told my tires were old and they couldn't help me. I totally feel like they took advantage of me. Now I'm stuck with 4 tires that I'm extremely unhappy with. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere when you need tires. For roughly $40. more, I could have had better made tires and a smoother ride. Town Fair was just interested in making a bigger profit on the Nexen tires. Shame on you Town Fair! read more
