We celebrated Father's Day with my uncle at Town Kitchen & Grill and enjoyed ourselves. The food was good and the service was okay. If it wasn't for the location, I don't think the restaurant would be nearly as popular. Our server was friendly, but not as attentive as we would've liked. We were seated outside and I found myself looking inside for her on more than one occasion. Even with the good company, I felt the dinner dragging because of this. I ordered the Grilled Chicken Bowl while everyone else had pasta. We enjoyed our food, but agreed that neither the portion nor the flavor entice us enough to come back. Tried Town again after not liking it much the first time and had a similar experience this time. The positives: Ambiance was nice, service was friendly and efficient, and my husband and friends liked their food OK. (My husband had the steak and mushroom penne, friends had the Chimchurri steak and the wedge salad) The negatives: I had the shrimp risotto and found it blah. The serving was very small - i feel like American portions are often obscenely large (and don't like that), but this was much smaller than average and I was still hungry after eating it. The flavor was ok, but nothing to write home about. And the shrimp were very small - what my husband and I call "bait" shrimp. Not the large shrimp you usually get at a nice restaurant. Since i was still hungry, I ordered a cobbler. It was fine, but not great. Texture was a bit strange - not traditional. Probably won't come back. The food is just not that interesting. We got the branzino which was also super good. The skin wasn't as crispy as I would have wanted but the flavors were really good and I'd still reorder that. The chicken bowl was underwhelming. Definitely dont do that dish. The lasagna was great. Came in a huge portion. Super yummy! We will definitely be back because the food was great and the service was good. While spending a Saturday in Montrose, we decided to try a local restaurant around 2 PM. Despite the quiet afternoon lull, the diverse menu caught our attention. The experience exceeded all expectations. We ordered the Schnitz Double and the Shrimp and Lemon Linguine, both of which were exceptionally fresh and flavorful. We also took advantage of their Happy Hour specials with a glass of wine and an Old Fashioned. Combined with excellent service and a wonderful ambiance, this was one of the finest meals we have enjoyed in quite some time. Nice place in Montrose to grab a bite. They have a bar and nice dark lit ambiance inside. We ordered two town burgers and a shrimp and lemon linguine. The service was quick and polite, we didn't have to wait to be seated. Both town burgers were pretty good. They each came with fries and were very filling and fresh. The linguine was also tasty and filling. Portions are reasonable and prices too, for a fancier restaurant. Recommend coming here to grab a bite! We live within walking distance of The Town Kitchen. We probably go there once a week and really enjoy it. If friends or family are visiting w us, this is the place we take them! The service is really top notch, they are kind and professional. The food selection is wonderful and have never gotten a meal that we didn't enjoy. Got seated right away on a busy Saturday evening! We were craving pizza so we decided to give it a try here - a regular pepperoni pizza. It was okay - nothing special. The superfood salad was pretty good - super healthy and light! There also had some promotion going on where if you answered some questions correct that was on the seasonal menu, you get a free dessert. We chose the cinnamon bread pudding! That was delicious!! Arrived at 5p Tuesday night. Pretty empty space. Told to sit anywhere. Just a party of 2. We ordered Brussel sprouts, my friend had pizza and I had a cup of pumpkin soup & 2 crab cakes. We paid and even tipped 20% for a 15% type service. My friend was finishing up the 2nd glass of wine when the male host came over to say, " We have a party who has reserved this table and will be here in 5 minutes. " What??? Yes, it was fairly crowded but there were empty spaces. My friend said, I will finish my wine and I don't see anybody waiting. A few minutes later he came back and said, " the party with reservations will be here soon. We need this table." Me," I don't see any one here yet. We will leave soon." Oh my gosh!!! The sever had asked if we had wanted dessert or coffee. How would that have worked? It's not as if we were 2 gutter rats bringing down the property value. We received a gift certificate to the Montrose Kitchen Grill for Christmas. We were intrigued because we had never been there but the person who gave it to us sang their praises. We finally had the opportunity to go there for lunch yesterday and it was indeed fantastic! Such a lovely little place!! The inside would be nice for a cozy dinner but since we were there for lunch we chose to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine and people watch. (Great location for people watching!) The food and service were both great. I ordered the Chicken Caesar Wrap and my husband had the LA Cheesesteak Sandwich. Both were delicious. The wrap was different because it was made with balsamic dressing rather than ranch and had croutons inside which gave it a crunch. The cheesesteak sandwich had nice flavor kick to it. I will start with the good. Service was very good. Our server was very nice and attentive. My wife had a pasta dish with zucchini noodles and she liked it very much. I had the chicken sandwich and I did not . Chicken over cooked and very tough to eat. Overall very disappointing and we will most likely not be back. Our "hard pass" items: - steak quesadillas - this was close to disgusting. It tasted like a wet towel to me... I don't usually waste food but I couldn't get this one down. HUGE pass, big regrets. - Peroni on draft was NOT tasting like a Peroni. It was oddly citrus-y, I bet we got a bad batch or just the bottom of the barrel. The Blue Moon draft was MUCH better. - Ribeye steak - meh, too well-done and a bit bland. Sadly it needed ketchup to add a little flavor. The fries were good though! The "good"! - BBQ shrimp - I enjoyed this dish! I liked the Cajun flavors and the hint of spice from the sausage. It was a pleasant surprise after a few unfortunate bites of food prior to this meal, so I was quite pleased. - Pepperoni pizza - I liked the hint of honey, adding a bit of sweetness to the crust and dough. Big generous portions, good to share. - Cinnamon bread pudding - totally unnecessary but a tasty way to really stuff you up at the end of the meal. It was really warm (close to hot!) which made the bread and ice cream really tasty. This was a win! Parking on Honolulu isn't bad at all. First time here in a couple of years, and it just was okay. Service was great, very friendly and helpful. Drinks were outstanding. The food, which should be the star, was okay. The online menu doesn't match the in-house menu, and the mushroom lasagna that beckoned was no longer offered. My wife's first choice, Short Rib Quesadilla, was not available because they'd run out of the short rib. SO, it was plan B for both of us. We shared a winter salad that sounded great but had so much salt on it that we only ate half between us. Why would you salt a salad!? The server took half of the cost of the salad off of the bill, but it was still a disappointing dish. I chose the Bayou Pasta that was good, but somewhat dry. My wife got the regular lasagna, and it was good. We'd go back, but won't be in any hurry to do so. AND, will make sure to request the kitchen not add salt so liberally, if at all. read more

I haven't been to Town in a while, honestly it has been almost 2 years. My last experience was fine but not amazing mostly because our food then was not memorable. We came in last Saturday night for dinner, we ordered a pear salad to start, I had the Schnitzel my husband had the special Braciola and our daughter had a kids cheese burger. The food was outstanding!!!! The salad was a perfect balance of greens and toppings lightly dressed. My Schnitzel was crispy and delicious and the special my husband had was savory and tender, even my daughter talked about her burger being juicy. We ended our meal with the cinnamon roll bread pudding, nothing was left behind. Our server Kristi was incredibly attentive, and made our experience enjoyable. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun with the Dodger game playing in the background. We will be back soon. read more

Food is generally good, when the restaurant isn't busy. Otherwise expect long waits, cold food and poor service overall. Establishment has 1 waitress for floor, 1 for patio, and God knows what they have in the back. We waited so long everyone lost their appetite. I karened out on waitress because she was gaslighting me that the food can't be cold cause she just got it from the kitchen. Means zero if it is "cold!" Then she came and filled my water abruptly towards the end - I should've listened to my gut - I felt like that water pour was payback for my attitude - but of course I never listen to my gut - she likely put Visine in my water - barely made it home with a rumbling grumbling stomach followed by painful you know what. No matter, now I have room for scrumptious dessert in my own home. It's too bad - Town had such potential. But now the poor experience during and after makes this place a big fat ZERO! Worse yet, I did apologize for my lash out and said "it's not your fault, it's managements for not having enough staff" yada yada and we did give her 15%. Not 20 but we felt that was fair considering the overall experience. My Yelp New Year's resolution is to work my way through places I've book marked, so while scrolling through the list Town seemed like a great option on a Sunday evening. The place was fairly empty when we arrived. There were two regulars at the bar. Tamar greeted us when we sat down. She has a warm, upbeat personality. I adored her immediately. PIC got his usual Jack n Diet Coke. The Cucumber Mint Gimlet caught my attention, so I went with that. They also have 4 different Old Fashioneds on the menu (which are barrel aged in house), and a flight is $25. Next time I think I'll try that. PIC couldn't decide between the Miso Glazed Salmon or the Filet so he asked Tamar what she recommended. She said the filet so he followed her advice. I was still stuffed from my pig out fest at The Melt so I stuck with my cocktail. By now I noticed the bar had filled up. Everyone was talking to one another. It was obvious this was their regular spot. The Filet came with smashed potatoes & green beans. PIC said it was cooked to perfection. I tried a bit of the smashed potatoes with the Dijon Beurre Rouge sauce and it was very tasty. The green beans were slightly crisp and also had a very nice flavor. PIC loved it and cleaned his plate. When it came time for dessert we couldn't decide between the Town Brown and Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding. Since Tamar nailed it with the entrée selection we asked her to choose. She said the Town Brown was the way to go. When it arrived it looked like heaven on a plate. The dessert consisted of a house made double chocolate brownie topped with McConnell's vanilla bean ice cream and a caramel and chocolate drizzle. The brownie was cut into pieces and was still warm and gooey. Every bite was gasmic! I also got a glass of 20yr Taylor Fladgate Tawny Port. It was lovely. The food at Town is made with fresh locally sourced ingredients and you can taste the quality. The ambience is warm and relaxing and the vibe is neighborhood friendly.
