A friend from the area recommended JQ's and he knows good food so our group went in already expecting deliciousness, and we were not disappointed. Enjoy the atmosphere, the friendly service, Housemade, potato chips, fresh cut, french fries, and also delicious, pulled pork, barbecued chicken wings, and more.

Street Corn Dawg with baked beans

JQ's had been on my list a while, and I finally got there moving week. We actually went twice! The first time, they were out of pork and hotdogs, which is what I wanted, so we went back for lunch. I got the Street Corn Dawg with their famous baked beans. The dawg was gigantic and full of flavor. I had to eat it with a knife and fork. The beans were so good. They were thick, I don't like runny baked beans, and had pulled pork in them... could be a meal by themselves. Hubs got the nachos. They were piled high and the pork was so good. We also got the 5 wing special with the sweet and apicy D.A.T honey. He had a kick you may not expect and I love the jumbo wing over a party wing. They have both inside and outside seating. It was a beautiful day for sitting outside. The decor inside is very cool and interesting with all the memorabilia. The service was excellent and the staff were so helpful with recommendations and letting us try a taste of things before purchase. You must visit!

Dropped into JQ's for lunch today for the first time. I knew it was going to be delicious when I saw how small it was. Just a little "dive" is what I like to call it; these places always have the best food!! When we walked in we were greeted by a girl behind the counter who asked if it was our first time in. HUGE plus on service there. She gave us some suggestions and told us we could sit wherever. We ordered at the window. Service was extremely quick and tentative. The fat boy bacon cheeseburger was made with ground briquet and HUGE! It came out piping hot with melted cheese and fresh crispy bacon. Delicious and juicy. The fries were hot and also very crisp and tasty. The wings were smoked and tossed in dat honey sauce. They were in fact jumbo wings. The wings were not my favorite, although I think it may have been the sauce. I would try them again with another sauce.

    Pulled pork BLT

One of the best pulled pork sandwiches I've ever eaten! It was the pork BLT, and it was fantastic, even though, I have to admit, I ended up taking off the lettuce and tomato. The bun was nice and toasted, the pulled pork was smoky and tender, and the bacon was perfect. The fries were good, but, I had forgotten to ask for extra barbecue sauce, and ketchup gags me, so I ended up taking them home and reheating them later. I used their curbside service, and my order was ready quickly and brought out promptly. I was very happy to see that they did not use Styrofoam for their take-out container! Definitely will go back here next time I am in town!

Absolutely do not miss! So delicious, made to order, and unique! While there are many fun things on the menu, I opted for the Fat Boy Burger and it did not disappoint. Thick, juicy, with delicious signature sauce. Only seating for about 15 and you will definitely want to channel your inner Guy Fieri as it feels like a hidden dive. Would certainly be worth a drive over for take out if you don't want to stay. So glad we came over when Prison Brews had a closed kitchen. Fat Boy Burger

Pulled Pork Nachos. (Half of portion)

Wow. This place was so good. Food is the show. No alcohol, no fountain sodas. Fresh items on Nachos and pulled pork made for amazing taste. Portions big enough for 2 meals for me. Food made me bring back the fifth star bc I was taking away 1 for no beer. Quick prep, friendly people. Will be back. Clean hole in the wall quirky place.

    KISS collection on display !!

We were closer to the mall location than the downtown one. As we pulled up, it was located in what is a sad reminder of our culture gone from the 80s and 90s....an old remodeled Pizza Hut. But I'm sure glad I made this stop as it is being put to good use. I went with the 2 meat plate with pulled pork, brisket, potato salad, and jalapeño grits. My buddy with me ordered the same except he ordered mac and cheese instead of potato salad and got a half rack of ribs. The pulled pork and ribs were superb! The ribs had a sweet smoky glaze and was very meaty. The pulled pork was seasoned well and was very tender. The brisket was ok but was nowhere near the level of the pulled pork and ribs. The jalapeño grits were thick and everything I want from grits. I'm from Alabama and grits are hit and miss for me. The jalapeño ones were some of the best I've had. Solid potato salad with the mustard mayo concoction and red potatoes. There are 5 sauces and the KC Sweet stood above the rest as an elite sauce. The mustard one was very good with the pork. The hot sauce sorta was interesting and could be a good match with the correct entree. The Texas and Midwest Heat were good. They had fresh-brewed sweet tea that made this Bama Boy smile! Sweet Smoke is a solid BBQ option for central Missouri. Go with the pulled pork, ribs, and jalapeño grits with some KC Sweet.

Besides my family-in-law's cooking this was the highlight of our Missouri culinary experience…read more After a 3 hour flight it was a three hour drive to our destination. About 2 hours in we see signs on highway 54 for "Barnyard Smokehouse". Drooling over the signs and starving my wife start calculating by the time we arrive at our destination it'll be too late to eat with family so we follow the signs. There's no offramp, just hang an instant right off the highway onto the dirt road at the barnyard. Used to clearly marked offramps I missed it and had to take a detour. Luckily in Missouri you can make u-turns on the freeway :-D The entire property is the "Central Missouri Meat & Sausage". There's a deli, market, and restaurant called "Barnyard Smokehouse". Beef and pork is locally raised and butchered on site. Walking in the door we're greeted by warm and friendly people telling us to sit wherever. The restaurant is inside the market/deli to the right. Lots of tables. To start we order some fried pickles. They're sliced thin and battered in cornmeal and served with ranch dressing which is one of the food groups in Missouri. I wish the pickles used were more sour but they tasted really good. For dinner I had their smoked brisket with Texas toast, BBQ beans and Mac-n-Cheese. My wife had the same thing but with "bacon, cheddar, and ranch potato salad" and mac-n-cheese. When it came out I was skeptical since the tri-tip came out in paper thin slices but I shouldn't have judged a pile of meat by its looks since it was fantastic. Beef was saturated with smoky goodness and due to the thin cuts it was super tender. On the table was several made in house BBQ sauces. I really enjoyed their spicy one and my wife liked the sweet one. Side dishes were great too. Due to our odd flight times we only had a tiny sandwich on the airplane so we both devoured everything on our plates. While waiting for our food I walked over to the dessert case and perused. Another standard item in Missouri are refrigerated whip creamed based "pies". We ordered the oreo cookie one. It was gut busting rich. Thick slab of dense vanilla custard topped with crushed oreos and whipped cream. Super rich and decadent. We both felt like we were going to burst after our meals but it was a great start to our vacation. When walking around the market after we saw these giant 6 to 7 foot cured meat sticks made from pork. Since we were going to a potluck in a few days we got 4 of them and at the party cut them up into bite sized pieces. These pork sticks are AMAZING. The BBQ flavor was the favorite followed by the jalapeno. They have them in more reasonable sized pieces too that are vacuum sealed. I bought some for myself and some co-workers. If you find yourself driving on Highway 54 through Fulton, MO do yourself a favor and follow the signs to this great place!!

Very rarely have I had a meal here that didn't live up to my expectations. From Pizza to Burgers and everything in between my sit-down experiences have been really good, with few exceptions. The Brews available have been great as well, although they seemed to jettison the growler promotion awfully fast. In my mind a solid piece like a growler bottle is not only a collectible but it's free advertising since the customer paid for it. I'll keep politicking management to bring it back, but I'm not optimistic. They do serve 32oz Beers in freshly sealed cans (from tap) that are tasty and great competition for other spots closer to home for me, so there's that. Interior decor is stylish and memorable, and the multi-tier design helps sequester the bar area from the restaurant without being obvious in doing so. Bathrooms are eclectically designed and clean. They also have an adjacent spot in the same building for live music (think acoustic or small groups...they currently host things like Blues jams to decent turnout) So, now that the good things that carry the place have been listed, here are the improvements I'd like to see: Host and Hostess quality is all over the place. Ranges from wandering space-cadet kids to courteous young adults that unfortunately have a habit of hosing orders pretty badly. The actual wait staff and bartenders are fairly top notch when you sit down for a meal, so the disparity of quality on to-go orders I can attribute to the person taking the order. Toppings missing, order mixed up and someone else's meal were all experienced on to-go visits. It makes me covet the times in my work week I can sit down and enjoy a meal here (happymeter- near 100%), but obv that can't happen all the time. Unfortunately these are the things that can kill an otherwise great location, and the actual products here are *great*.
