The sushi, the miso soup the salad is excellent also enjoy the Goya. The service has always been excellent on the half dozen times we've been here. I found anything with meat like teriyaki or chicken or steak is under seasoned, dry, and not really good. On the lunch menu the wife and I have tried all of it. The restaurant is always clean. The servers very attentive, and the bathroom clean as well. Knowing this, we stick with what we like and what we like has been very good. We would like to try the dinner menu at some point. This place rocks! The food is so good every single time. The servers are all wonderful and sweet. Every time I get Sushi anywhere else I'm always comparing to "my sushi spot" which is Sakura. The plating is thoughtful. Everything is consistent. They still take pride in the art of sushi being beautiful and not just clunky rolls jammed with crab and cucumber. My favorite is the Beauty and Beast roll, kani salad, poke bowl and seared pepper tuna! Shrimp asparagus, udon, hibachi chicken and salmon tataki is also good. You just can not go wrong here. Lunch from 11:00-3:00 except Sundays when it is dinner menu only all day. We will try the dinner in the near future. They have an all you can deal for just $21.95 & if you can eat like I can eat you'll make out like a god damned thief in the night. Not a huge place but there was still quite a few folks waiting at the entrance to be seated when I finally decided to walk my fatass out the door. I ate some coconut shrimp, teriyaki steak, habachi shrimp & chicken & it was all so fucking tasty & it came with rice & fried veggies like zucchini & holy shit it was great. The only issue was with the shitter, it was somewhat messy & disheveled in there & there was only one toilet which sucks when theres a lot of folks that gotta go. We were in town for a sport competition and was recommended this spot for lunch. Coming from Virginia Beach where there are a ton of sushi and Japanese restaurants, I was not impressed with the quality of seafood or taste of the food at this restaurant. It is good for cheap sushi and Japanese food. It is all you can eat ordered from your table. The pricing was super affordable. The service was fast and food. Our food came out fairly quickly and within food plate portion. So I do recommend it while you're passing through as Moyok is a small town. Just do not expect top notch seafood or sushi. read more

Used to like this place. My older daughters were big fans. Ordered it last night for 4 of us. 2 got steak and chicken hibachi and the other 2 got shrimp. The 2 who ate shrimp was my 19 and 7 years olds. They woke up a few hours after eating with food poisoning. Projectile vomiting all night. Couldn't even take a sip of water. I don't like to feel rushed, as if the waitress wants me to eat as fast as I can and then get out of the restaurant. That makes me feel as if I am valued only for the money that I leave on the table when I walk out. But, that is exactly how I felt when I left last night. Now, don't get me wrong. The food was delicious and the waitress was there, a lot. As soon as I sat down to meet my sister (we were celebrating her birthday), the waitress came over and asked me what I wanted to drink. Water, and it was there in under a minute. And when we ordered an array of both hot and cold food, my portion and her edamame arrived in just a few minutes. Before she finished her appetizer, her rolls arrived. I was amazed at the fast food preparation from the kitchen. As I ate my food, someone arrived with a fresh water glass for my sister, and a minute later came back to refill mine. Periodically, someone would arrive to take away our empty dishes. I had already finished my seaweed salad (delicious) and sushi appetizer (six pieces), so I began working on my California roll and coconut chicken (very sweet). I sampled a few pieces of my sister's rolls (three she had not tried in previous visits, and they were excellent), and ordered ice cream to top it off. When the bill arrived, I ignored it for a minute since I was talking about my business and trying to figure out how to man-age time and energy, but got prompted again with the waitress standing nearby, so I gave her my card. It was my treat, be-cause that's what you do to celebrate someone's birthday. I'm not into giving gifts, but I like sharing meals. And this meal tickled my taste buds and left me feeling happily full. But I really like to talk when I am out. It's a confined space and the person I am with has my complete attention since we are stranded among strangers and we can just talk. Yet I didn't get that on this trip, but felt the silent urge from the restaurant to eat and get out. They didn't tell me that in words, but by their constant presence. I think that this is due to their desire to meet the needs of the clients, so I don't fault the establishment. Part of this pressure may be because the place was busy when we arrived and packed when we left, on a Sunday evening. Maybe the staff thinks that customers want their food as soon as possible, and that they want to leave as soon as possible. Well, I didn't, and I left feeling rushed. I don't like that, even though I really like the food. So, if you want delicious Japanese food, this is definitely the place to go. Don't even think about going somewhere else. After their recent reopening, we have an opportunity to go several times, as you know I count on consistency along with taste, looks appealing and last but not least, service... Sakura is still hitting all cylinders in every category... Taste is just as great as the original and maybe better with the new kitchen... The new look of the front of the house is so much more appealing and lit just right, not too bright for dinner and not so dark so we can still see the food!! Service has actually picked up with what appears to be a couple new waitresses on permanent staff... Favorite items are the gyoza, hot clear soup with mushroom slices and fried onions, and the fresh salmon still melts in your mouth and is great with the appetizer Jalapeño Sashimi and sushi because they don't overly serve huge servings of rice, the salmon covered it all!! read more

Two stars for service and cleanliness. Where to start, the tempura vegetables were not cooked thoroughly and therefore the dough was raw in the inside. Very unpleasant texture and taste when not cooked through. No salt was added to them. It was just blah. The spring roll reminded me of frozen ones I can get at the store. The sauce was nice that went with it. I ordered the hibachi chicken and fried rice. No flavors at all, the rice wasn't fried. It was more white rice that they added some soy or sauce to make it semi brown. It lacked flavor all around. My wife had the chicken teriyaki and vegetables. They put more onions on the plate then anything. The chicken was thin and dry with very few actual vegetables. We tried the sake roll fried and it had the most flavor but still wasn't good or great and more rice then anything else. The house salad was just a mess and not a good one. I can't even explain the dressing on it. The miso soup was just ok. This place needs to add spices. Have they not heard of salt, white pepper, garlic and ginger etc. Better places in va that have all you can eat lunch. I would probably never be back. Ok, so I was working just up the street and was craving (as I always do) some sushi. Pulled up the trusty Yelp app and this place is the only one within 45 minutes. I passed up the chance to come here a few times, fearing that I would obtain food poisoning from such a place in the small town of Moyock. After a little more investigating I saw that they had an AYCE special (All You Can Eat). Alright Sakura, you got me. The entire menu is at your disposal when you choose to order the AYCE which is a rarity, no matter where you hail from. When I ordered my Nigiri she asked if I wanted it "sushi or sashimi"....uhhhh, well, Sushi is a blanket statement for your fine assortment of fish but I want sushi if that means that it comes on a tiny pillow of rice. I assumed correctly that my Nigiri was going to come on an overly large pillow of rice in order to fill me up. But what I found odd is that I can order it sashimi style (no rice) if I wanted to. That literally makes zero sense. Anywho, be prepared to have an incredibly small slice of fish on a body pillow of rice. Fish quality is not bad at all and is well worth the money you pay. This will curb your fix for sushi, regardless of where you're from, but do not expect anything more than a poorly ran sushi restaurant in Moyock. How is the place poorly ran you say? well the service is absolutely terrible. They will NEVER fill up your drink unless you hail down and whistle like an attempt at getting a taxi in New York. The beer selection is decent, when they have the beer in stock (which is rare). Maintaining a stock of beer on your menu requires you to order more whenever your stock is low, apparently this is a difficult process for them. All in all, it's worth the price, you wont get food sick and it will curb your craving for some raw fish. I'd hit it again. read more
