Was recommended this place by a Peruvian co-worker who knows his Peruvian chicken. I ordered a half chicken with fries and a side of beans. The chicken was meaty, juicy and well seasoned. The steak fries are crispy on the outside and soft inside, while the beans, with bacon mixed in, were delicious and well-portioned. Definitely use the thick green chili sauce. Topped the meal off with an Inka Cola. Price: only $10. They also have an excellent salad which is lettuce on a bed of cabbage in a light lemon/vinegar dressing. The salad is actually juicy! The place is small but comfortable, clean and orderly. Service was good and attentive. Only complaint would be the open door that could allows in flies, though I didn't see any. Having recently moved to Downey, I have been exploring the area looking for places with good food. Toyitos does not dissapoint. Toyitos has really yummy rotisserie chicken served with aji verde (a spicy peruvian sauce). The beans are very tasty as well, whole beans with bacon and some other seasonings. The people working here are very nice as well. They also serve some different types of soda, Inca Kola was one. Will have to try one of these on my next visit Downside - Place is a hole in wall located in a strip mall. If you blink you will miss it. I was craving some pollo ala brasa and wasnt willing to drive to Gardena so had to settle for something closer to home, which is how I found Toyitos. Toyitos does only one thing, chicken. your not gonna find lomo saltado, cerviche, papas la huancaina or any other peruvian staple here. its chicken, all day and every day chicken only! So of course I had the chicken with sides of rice, beans and salad. The chicken is good, but was kind of missing those peruvian flavors. And I think they were missing cause they dont use a wood burning oven. Ok, cant knock them for that. And be aware the restaurant is really small. just a few tables and when I was there they were busy. I originally ordered to go cause no tables were free but luckily a table freed up after placing my order and had no issues converting my order from to go to eat there. The service here was welcoming and friendly. Certainly a bonus. I wouldnt mind coming back to get some chicken when i start craving pollo ala brasa. read more

Very satisfied with this place. There's not a whole lot of variety within the menu but the chicken is amazing! Great seasoning, very well cooked and reasonably large portions. They serve great freshly made hearty chicken soup (the broth and seasoning were flavorful but not overpowering) Great value for money too, the place was inexpensive.The hostess was very friendly and was willing to accommodate our large party even though the dining area is on the smaller side. Been here several times off and on and have not been unimpressed for what you get. I usually get the chicken, rice and salad plate to go. The salad comes with a tangy dressing that makes it light and unique. The chicken is flavorful and has a nice citrus flavor that keeps it light. way better then the El Polo chicken. the rice is the only let down in that it is Meh. and then you have a small tub that green sauce that you pour on the chicken and make that meh rice much more palatable. I have coworkers who swear by it and will get every few days. The day they are closed during the work week can throw your off as well as the hole in the mini mall decor, but the food is legit and good for the price. read more

This is food like you made it at home. The chicken is juicy and has a great flavor. The beans are very simple probably out of a can but hey for the price what do you expect. The salad was good but would recommend providing an option for different lettuce. Ice berg lettuce is just cheap and in general doesn't taste like much. The tomatoe on the salad was one big slice I had too use my fingers to eat it cause no knife was provided. So overall good cheap food like you made it at home. The sides of rice and fries are well cooked as well with the rice having a subtle taste that makes it addictive. We have been coming to this place for quite some time now and would like to say at least 10 years. By far the best Peruvian chicken place in the area without a doubt. The chicken is very well marinated and has a really good flavor to it! For a family of 5 we usually order two chickens with rice, beans and the green salsa. The green salsa has to be the best I have tasted between all the Peruvian restaurants we have been to. The green sauce poured on the rice is really good and I personally don't like to put the green sauce on the chicken because the flavor is so good. Highly recommend this place!
