They had one server and it was a little slow for there hardly being any people in there. The sushi was actually pretty expensive in my opinion. Although, the dinners seemed pretty reasonable for prices. I ordered a sushi pizza and a viagra roll. The sushi pizza was pretty good but there's a thin chip on the bottom causing the whole thing to actually fall apart because it is so thin. Other than that it was enjoyable. The viagra roll was not good. It had little crunchy flakes on the outside but tasted like it was fried in old oil. The inside on the roll had shrimp tempura and was soggy. Been here twice and both times the food was great. Truthfully, we've only ordered sushi and saki though. If you like sushi, try the purple haze (I think that's the name). I think it's raspberry-flavored saki. Not an overpowering btw. Well-balanced. We tried all of the other saki flavored ones they have and that one flavor gives us cravings to come back. Unless he doesn't like sushi, then you also have to teach him to cook." - Auren Hoffman Lounging around in the Big Boy domicile, I was beginning to feel peckish and so grabbed my random name generator and punched in some parameters. While it was doing its thing, I grabbed the keys and headed for the door. By the time I was out the door, it was done and flashing a name for my destination. It would appear that I am having sushi for my next meal as the name of Toyo Sushi, in Suntree was flashing at me. Bummer. I have to eat sushi...again. If someone has to suffer as such, it might as well be The Big Boy. Located in the beautiful newer storefronts within Suntree, Toyo Sushi was a gorgeous spot in which to dine. After being shown to a table and handed a menu, I began to read the menu while waiting for my wait staff to arrive. The interior was spotless, quaint, inviting and tastefully decorated. Empty as a Best Buy after the Black Friday crowd, but nice nonetheless. I was soon approached by a lovely younger lady going by the Anglican name of Chris. Chris was very efficient, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Chris was the best thing about this place, but I get ahead of myself. I asked Chris for one Melbourne Roll, surf clam nigiri, spicy tuna nigiri (my sushi joint barometer) and one order of Uni nigiri I was feeling adventurous and Chris assured me it was fresh. Chris was back before too long and after snapping a few pictures, I placed my napkin on my lap and proceeded to feast. First up was the Melbourne Roll. Toyo's Melbourne Roll consists of tuna, salmon, yellowtail and cucumber on the inside with more salmon, some avocado, eel sauce, spicy mayo and crunchy onions on top. The roll was fresh, albeit smothered in sauce. A bit much for my liking, however, it was edible, just not a bell ringer. The Surf Clam, which is usually served frozen in a single layer, was adequate. I am assuming it was freshly thawed to order as it had none of that pasty feeling you get on the palate from not-so-fresh frozen seafood. My sushi barometer of a spicy tuna roll was seemingly prepared correctly, but I found it to be severally lacking in the taste category. I don't know how they messed this up, the ingredients appeared fresh, but it was just a bit outside the strike zone. This brings us to my final item up for review, the Uni. If you are unfamiliar with Uni, it is the interior meat of the coastal Sea Urchin found up and down the Pacific coast, well, all coasts really, but the best stuff comes from the Left Coast as the cooler waters lead to a sweeter, firmer texture. The only thing to remember when it comes to Uni is that it HAS to be fresh. If it is not, it can be very hard to get down. I remind you that my waiter, Chris, assured me the Uni was fresh, after one bite, I assure you it was not. Uni should be a stronger taste than say, tuna, but it should not have a bite and it should not leave a bitter aftertaste behind. This did both, ergo, it was not fresh. It almost wasn't past the edible point, as in it wasn't going to make anyone ill, but it was not proper freshness for the discerning sushi connoisseur, hell, even for the passing consumer this was bollocks. We love Toyo. We've been going there for several years now. Have tried most every new sushi place as it opens in the greater Melbourne area but always return to Toyo. Toyo is consistent in quality and freshness. We never worry about that. We tried one sushi house off Babcock that was good, but it was hit or miss. One time good, then the next time the same roll would taste different. Not consistent, so back to Toyo. Toyo's servers are prompt and kind. Inside it looks fine, clean but nothing fancy. They rely more on good food than Knick knacks. We are glad to have Toyo. It's a great place for tasty, fresh sushi. read more

Have seen this place for a number of years in the neighborhood, but always have my sushi favs and afraid to change - finally decided to give it a whirl. Showed up around 7pm, we were the only people there - which frightened us a little. The greeter ( lady) and eventual server was amazing and so very personal and very concerned about providing us excellent service - very refreshing and her effort is greatly appreciated. But even EXCELLENT service cannot make up for mediocre food. Although the edamame was cooked perfect and the salad was adequate, The sushi rolls were just Blah. A little smaller than other places around Melbourne and just didn't have the taste and fresh taste of some other places we frequent. It's a little pricier for what you get than their competitors- I don't mind paying a fair dollar for good food, but this meal was about 15% more than paid at Thai Thai and a few other places, for what you get. For us, sushi lovers, we probably won't be back unless every other place is full - but again, our sushi bar server could not have been more pleasant - just wish the food was as good as the service. It can be fixed - but someone (owner?) will need to do it. Create a menu and taste that Stands out. read more

These guys are not taking COVID-19 lightly! They have dining completely sealed off. In fact, even you are completely sealed off from them until you pay. Place your order online or over the phone, show up, tell them your name, at which point the person on the other side will lift a little block for a tiny slot that's only big enough for you to slip your money or insert your credit card. It's entirely contactless. They then drop your takeout into a box, which you open from your side. Sushi's alright. Lacks finesse. The soy sauce is oddly watery. This is a review of the takeaway service only...it has currently been 1 hour sine I ordered my food. I was given a 30 minute time to pick up. They are not staffed appropriately for this type of service. As I sit here with 7 others awaiting takeout, I can tell the in restaurant service is suffering greatly. They appear to have one waitress for 13 sat tables. Many have been waiting for a while and are looking around in an annoyed manner. I haven't gotten the food yet and it may be good, but this is not a sustainable business plan. This will be my last time. The flavor of the two rolls I got was all there. Honestly I would come back any day and get the Melbourne roll. I could only order the Melbourne roll and be satisfied. I also ordered the shrimp tempura roll. Absolutely delicious. The restaurant does a great job of doing only carry out and delivery due to the pandemic. It was quick as well. My ONLY issue was with portion for price. I didn't feel full after two rolls and it took me no time to eat. The shrimp tempura was roughly $10 and it was 5 decently sized pieces. And the Melbourne roll about $15 and had 8 small pieces. I can get a monster roll at Fujiyama for the same price (and those are shrimp tempura rolls on steroids) and I'll feel full after that one roll. Or at Thai Hana I can spend the same amount and I'll have leftovers I'm so full. Again, I thought the food and service was fantastic and would eat the Melbourne Roll for every meal.. Stopped here on a Road trip to Georgia with the Family. Customer service was very friendly and attentive. Restaurant is clean and presentable. I had the tuna and avocado salad and super rainbow roll both very good. My husband and son had hibachi and they loved it said it was very fresh. My son had salmon with chicken and loved was surprised how good the salmon was. My husband had the chicken and was happy with it. BEST ASIAN FOOD IN VIERA! We went our first time this weekend and had sushi, which was amazing. They are on par with Thai Fuji in Rockledge (only faster service). I had the Diamond Roll and my husband had the Red Hot Roll and steamed dumplings for an appetizer. A day later, we decided to order traditional Chinese foods (general tso's and spicy mango chicken). Hands down, there is no comparison. The food is fresh with rich, flavorful sauce, sticky rice and sooooo yummy . They are the best in the area! LOVE LOVE LOVE everything here. I just found my new sushi restaurant. If you like sashimi the dinner is awesome and the pieces are huge. They have lots of options if you want no rice or very little rice on your sushi rolls. The soy sauce is made in house and there is white pepper on the table(awesome!). If you want something that is cooked they have really good Asian food too! We got the eggplant in garlic sauce. Needless to say everything was fantastic and we couldn't finish it all. Our waitress was super nice and more than happy to help us box our food and give us a bag of ice for our drive home. read more

Visited Toyo for the first time with a couple of girlfriends. I was after one thing: sushi. Wasn't looking for pad thai or curried chicken or any entree like that; I wanted them to bring on the fish! I ordered the special roll of the day, the spiderman roll. It had tempura crab, avacado, asparagus and cream cheese topped with tuna. I also ordered the spicy salmon roll. The spiderman roll was pretty good, it was pretty big as far as rolls go. The spicy salmon roll was regular sized, and honestly, not that spicy. So the verdict on the sushi was - meh. I've had better. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't up to par with some of the sushi I've had at local sushi joints. The service was exceptional - the waitress always kept my glass full and was very polite, even letting us stay and gab long after we had finished eating when it was close to closing time. I may give the place another go, but it'll be to try one of their entrees. read more
