we have always come here for seafood for several years running when we come to Vermont every summer, and have enjoyed it, but tonight the food was unsatisfactory. my husband and son in law ordered and couldn't even eat their baked stuffed haddock because it was fishy smelling and tasting, not fresh at all. my clam strips were chewy and only semi-palatable. also, we arrived for a 6:30 reservation and waited for our food for too long--we didn't even get served our main meal until 7:45!! we were also surprised/suspicious that the dining rooms were not even half full, usually they are up to capacity....now we know why; don't think that we will be coming back again! our server was friendly, but offered no explanation or apology for the delay. we know it wasn't his fault that the food was so slow and so subpar. read more

The food was delicious!! Unfortunately we felt 45 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering was a little much. My fries were room temperature but we waited long enough that I wasn't going to send it back. It was Mother's Day and we were a large party but that was quite long for the younger ones to wait. There is a reason this restaurant has survived all these years. Great food and great service. Adore the fried clam strips platter ( like don't talk to me for a few minutes after I start enjoying them.) Our waitress,Lisa, was clearly a favorite amongst diners. The only reason I gave a 4 v 5 stars is because the raspberry pie and the strawberry rhubarb pies' crust was tasteless. They may have been frozen and not made in-house. Wonderful seafood restaurant in central Vermont. Great service and fabulous food. Hubby has a shellfish allergy so we were hesitant to eat at Tozier's. The staff took great care to explain the separate fryers. We were told everything he could safely eat. The specials change daily, but they usually have prime rib on Friday. The prime rib is excellent with a crust like my mother used to cook. Best creemies in Vermont. read more

We've been to Tozier's many times over the past 10+ years that we have vacationed in the Killington area, and usually take guests there as well. We are amazed that a restaurant in rural Vermont/central New England can serve such wonderful/fresh-tasting seafood at a reasonable price...and we grew up in the Boston area! Love their onion rings, too! However, for the first time last night, we were very disappointed with the meals we had. I ordered the baked stuffed shrimp, though I usually go with fried seafood. Thought I'd try something different, and crabmeat stuffing sounded good...but it was not good at all, no crabmeat evident, and it was gooey and not tasty. I did eat the shrimp, there were 6 jumbos, but they were bland and flavor was not enhanced by the too-"herby", not buttery, pasty stuffing. The best part of my meal was the salad (good maple balsamic) and the fries (crispy/non-greasy). My hubby ordered the baked stuffed haddock, which he'd enjoyed here before. But he said it was not fresh-tasting, was a little overcooked, and the ritz cracker stuffing was not buttery or seasoned well. He also enjoyed his salad and the mashed potatoes and gravy. Who would think that you could get great classic traditional seafood dishes in central Vermont? Toziers is a Vermont staple that is not open in the winter months. So my husband and I were excited to be up in the late summer and able to get in. I haven't been in the dining room area since I was a kid so it was very nostalgic to be back! I had a generous glass of Chardonnay. We started with the fried clams, which were delish! My husband was craving a turkey dinner so that's what he got and he enjoyed it! I got the haddock with ritz cracker topping. Also very good! We were disappointed to find out that the ice cream stand was closed for the season. So instead we split a slice of their homemade raspberry pie upon our server's recommendation. You don't see raspberry pie on too many menus. We loved it! The ambience is very old fashioned Vermont. I could do without the mounted deer staring at me as I'm eating but hey, that's just me and I'd go back because the food is terrific! read more

I've been dining here multiple times when I visit Killington area. This place is unique to have dine-in restaurant area and curbside shack stand like outside ordering area. If weather is nice, you can eat your tasty food at picnic tables adjacent to the building. Inside fine area, calm and spacious into two sections and you see lots of deer hunting stuff hang in walls. Although they located in the middle of the state, they serve great seafood dishes with quite crispy french fries (although at my last visit, it wasn't great as before...). All dishes i've tried are great so far and i highly recommend this place. Seasoning are relatively strong so you might enjoy them if you prefer seasoned well dishes. This place seems the dine in place for locals obviously. From here there is a farm called Kiss the Cow, about 15min., and they sells raw milk 24hrs. I am not an affiliate with them but they have a great products such as rich creamy ice cream swirl I also highly recommend. read more

What's not to like? We took 2 small children here to eat, and unexpectedly found that they could eat for free. Nice surprise especially considering their portions were sizable and included a free ice cream at the end. On top of that, the service was great, and the food was Excellent (notably the ribeye steak). Prices were very reasonable for the quality of the food. A local gem that has some of the friendliest staff and service, good food and a happy all around atmosphere and vibe. Also love the window service and sitting down by the river. We came in Friday night, it wasn't the first and it won't be the last! The new owner, Steve, introduced himself and made a point to walk around checking in on all the tables. This is kinda nostalgic, but when I was growing up my family dined at your establishment once a month.It was a treat as my dad was a farmer and that is a 24/7 day job, plus we lived in Barre, Vt.. and when we got back home, it was back to work. I was a bit disappointed! My husband and daughter brought me here for an early mothers day dinner, we drove and hour to eat here. I ordered the seared acallops with ritz topping. My scallops came out raw, I sent them back while waiting for my food to come back out the waitress came over and asked if we were getting dessert or if we were ready for the check because she had 2 people waiting for a table and if we were through she'd appreciate if we left. I then explained I was still waiting for my under cooked scallops to come back, but I was planning on getting dessert. She responded "oh shit." And went to the kitchen and brought my scallops out. This restaurant was a much needed stop after a long motorcycle ride, dodging the rain also. With the crushed and compacted gravel parking lot surface, we had a choice to go inside for the restaurant or stay out for ice cream. We chose ice cream and were happy with the quality and quantity. Then sat at the picnic tables which were a little difficult seating because they were small and narrow, made for small and thin people. Onsite bathroom which was handy. A family tradition eatery for generations. We drive out from the midwest every year. One of the must-stop places on our checklist is Tozier's. From the vast menu, including lobster rolls that make you think you are on the coast of Maine, to the rustic wooden dining room, to the drive-up window with creemees (and most of the food items from inside), this place knocks it out of the park. You may see people in suits and ties or swimsuits and t-shirts here. All are welcome. I think they have a full bar, but I have only ordered beer here. This is the kind of place you imagine if you were driving in your Model A and you hear about the great crash of '29 on the radio...you'd pull into to escape the world before facing up to reality. I don't know how to explain this place other than to say, I hope it's here for generations to come because America must have quality roadside restaurants with sit down dining rooms and walk up windows. These shall not perish from the earth. Why not five stars, asks my wife who is reading this over my shoulder in an uncool manner. They do close seasonally because sometimes capitalism requires you to shut down when there is a dearth of customers. Seasonal closures are necessary, but if you happen upon this place when it is closed, it's like getting to Wally World when they are shut to clean and repair America's favorite family fun park. So sad. So damn sad. Make sure you arrive when it's open. Great place to aim for on bike hikes, too. read more

Stopped into Tozier's last night for a cremee after a wonder dinner and swim at Silver Lake. Upon exiting the truck the Tozier team member said "You have to pay cash". It would have been nice to have been greated with hello welcome to Tozier's let me know if you have any questions about our menu. We driving a vehicle Ontario plates as had flown into Ottowa for a wedding. It alienated that the Tozier Team member made assumptions about us based on the registration. We decided on maple creemees and found out they were not made with Vermont maple syrup. I think that it would behoove a person advertising maple creemees in Vermont to use Vermont maple syrup. read more

I absolutely loved this place! Their clam chowder was really good My family ordered oysters on the half shell and ahi tuna and it was amazing. And their Maple Creemees at super yummy and Maple-y .. I would definitely return! I'd also forgotten my debit card behind on a Sunday and they were closed for a couple of days but I give them a call on Wednesday and they still had my debit card and even offered to mail it to me because I'm out of state. I've been in here twice and both times it was a flop. Basic bland food choices, overpriced, tasteless. Yesterday I had their lobster chowder and it was god awful. The chowder was basically canned soup and they put two nickel sized pieces of lobster and called It lobster chowder, that for 10$ a pop, c'mon really now. I was so disappointed. 0.2 miles away from our cabin in Bethel was this gem of a sea-food restaurant. Honestly, a life saver, because we had been driving quite a while away all week to Burlington for our foody fix. Tozier's practically drips with nostalgia from my youth: reminiscent of old school sea food shacks my parents would take my sister and I to in New Hampshire. The kinda local spot where you get lemon scented wet naps and a bib with your lobster dinner, all while watching a bear stagger out of the woods looking for the garbage cans from the safety of your booth (so, childhood memory there). This place has been here longer than I have. Really solid, consistent service and portions. The creamies are the best I've had, the owner says he uses 10% milk fat for them. We were quickly seated and greeted. We ordered a lobster role, a kids fish n chips and an adult one as well. I also had a cup of New England clam chowder, which was very good. The lobster role was good; quite rich. The gush n chips were good, and the cole slaw was enjoyed by my wife who doesn't generally like slaw. Our son was able to war for free since he is 5.
