So disappointed I bought a furnace, heat ducts in attic and an air con system...over $12,000 from Trabuco air. My drains in the attic kept running out the side of the house...I called Trabuco air . They came out and charged me $647.00 on 9-8-2023 On 7/23/24, I called Trabuco air with the same problem. They came out and again charged me $388.37 more I called the manager 2 times. I feel it was not done right the first visit. I found out that the manger was the one performing the first $647 service He was rude and dismissive. I will no longer deal with this company again. CEO Benny Godoy acted like an employee, he gave 5 year Warranty on Refrigerant. But it all leaked out the next day. He said, "You have to replace a Condenser to a whole new unit." And then, he will order it for me but it wasn't a brand name and I have to give him cash ahead of time. (Fraud) He added, "the Company doesn't know this secret deal. They will not support this and fire me. So, No warranty." I refused to give him several thousands of dollars somebody who acted like a fired employee because of this deal. I asked for Refund of $800 for the Refrigerant that got all leaked out under Refrigerant Warranty. He denied and pushed me into the Unwarranted non-brand name condenser that his company doesn't back up. I took him to a court, he lied to the judge, "I have HOME WARRANTY insurance. They could cover the damaged condenser." He only had BOND and they wrote, "We are not home warranty insurance." He damaged my AMANA condenser and did not Honor his "Refrigerant Warranty for 5 yrs." - He lives in a hundred-million dollar mansion. - read more

8/15/25 was charged $1000 to have the condenser line rerouted to the laundry room drain, which was about 7 feet from the A/C condenser pump. Also had another condenser pump installed on 8/15/25. When A/C and furnace was originally installed 11/21/20, the condenser line was routed about 35 feet to the other side of the house so the condenser pump had to work harder and as a consequence, I had to pay $398 8/3/23 to have it replaced. I spoke to John who is a partner at the company since I was not allowed to speak to the owner, Robert Decker. I told John that I was relying on the installers experience and knowledge to know to run the pipe to the laundry drain rather than to the other side of the house so the condenser pump would not have to be working so hard. John was unwilling to negotiate about the $1000 cost and he said that he already gave me a $500 discount and the job should've cost $1500 and that the condenser pump was $1200. I looked on Amazon and I found Goodman condensers were about $70. I asked John if he was willing to give me additional free A/C and heater tuneups to make up for the installer mistake and he declined. This is terrible customer service and I should not have to pay for the installers oversight and John was unwilling to accept any responsibility for the mistake. Trabuco came out to my mother-in-laws place where she lives with her mom. They were quoted over $600 initially for a part that was under the mfr warranty. The Tech tells them if they do it under warranty it would take 1-2 days. It's July 7th, it's HOT!!. He tells them he has the part in his truck and can install it today. I think he tells them $600 + initially, then he drops it by $89 I spoke to him on the phone and asked why cant they reduce it to labor only since the part is covered? They are just going to warranty the part anyway. He acknowledged that was the case and would talk to his boss. They reduced the cost $50. Bunch of thieves! I had the annual maintenance done on both the AC and the furnace. The technician recommended that I replace the AC contactor, AC capacitor, and recharge the freon. The original quote for this work was $1500, but they reduced it to about $1200. I went ahead and had this work done - about an hour's work. He also recommended replacing the furnace inducer motor for about $900. I asked him how much to replace the air conditioner fan motor, and he said $1500. I went on YouTube, and there are clear instructions on how to replace the capacitor, contactor, AC fan motor, and the furnace inducer motor. I took the part numbers off the existing parts, and I ordered the parts online as follows: capacitor - $20.00, contactor - $13.00, AC fan motor - $178.00, furnace inducer motor - $129.00. So, I can do $3600 of repairs myself. read more

Our air conditioner went out 2 weeks ago at 6pm on a Saturday night during this last heat wave. Called numerous HVAC companies, couldn't find anyone until I spoke to Benny. Benny was working, but told me he may be able to come that or next day which was amazing. Benny wound up coming that night instead of just going home, total life saver. Fixed the issue in 15 min as we just needed a new capacitor. Thanks again Benny for coming that night even though you were beat from working long hours since the heat wave started. We had Trabuco install our air and heating in 2016. Until never really cooled down past 74 in the summer, I didn't realize this was not normal until my mom had a new unit put in and hers worked great. I just thought it was do to the high temp outside. Called in 2021 and they put in $500 worth of Freon bc it didn't have enough. Fast forward to 2022 it went out again, after calling in Trabuco wanted to charge a service charge to come look, I was fine with this but asked if it was do to the same problem (which was under warranty) would the fee be waived. Told no I would have to still pay. Asked for a Manager, took 2 days to hear from one. John was the rudest person I have ever spoke with. The tone from the beginning was awful, when I asked why he was being so rude to me I was told he didn't like ppl saying they were "ripped off". I never said this but the receptionist told him I did. Their calls are recorded so I suggested he go back and listen. Told him the system issues and that I didn't think it was the Freon he told me it was a clog in the attic bc I am a negligent owner. He also told me their paperwork doesn't show I purchased an outside unit, which we did and asked them to move it, which they did. Concerning they don't have good records and that their staff including the Manager is so rude. Called another company to come check the issue. Was nothing close to what John thought it was, a clog. Nobody enjoys the stress of their AC going down, it always happens at the worst time and, without a home warranty, it can get expensive quick. PLEASE ignore the entitled 1 star reviews provided by people like April C, who clearly couldn't see paste her bill and made NO COMMENT of the great service you receive. I had a terrible experience with Trabuco Air. Robert Decker who is the owner of the company came to fix my neighbor's air conditioner on 9/15/14. I asked him to look at my unit also since I did not feel a cold air coming out of mine. He asked me to turn on the unit. The blower which was located inside was blowing air out, but the condenser unit which was located outside seems did not work. The condenser fan and compressor unit did not making any sound. He then proceed to open the side of condenser unit. He checked the part, Capacitor, with Volt-Ohm meter. He said that the Capacitor was defective. He had a new unit in his car. Even after he replaced the Capacitor, the condenser unit did not work! Then, he asked me where is the circuit breaker for my house. After he tripped the breaker, the unit started to work. I told him that may be it was my circuit breaker not my Capacitor. His response was that he can tell a bad part with a just visual inspection! I don't want to argue with him so I paid $311 for his 15 minutes of labor plus a part ($25). After he left, I had a suspicion about his diagnosis. So I installed back my part with his new part. Wow, the unit worked! So I posted my experience at Yelp on 9/18/14 (Trabuco Hills Air). Robert called me the next day asking me to drop my review because it would hurt his business. He did offer me to come out and check the unit again, but he DID NOT OFFER ME A MONEY BACK! I just do not trust him. So I packaged his new part and mailed it to him by Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation on 9/29/14 with Demand for Payment letter which I posted below. "Re: Demand for Payment Dear Mr. Decker: Please be advised that you owe me the sum of $222 because you made a mistake replacing a good part. I enclosed your part with this letter. My old part that I installed back has been running fine since the incident. Thus, I am willing to pay $89 for a service call, not $311 for just resetting my tripped circuit breaker. This will be your only chance to settle this matter before I file suit against you in Small Claims Court. I am agreeable to a lump sum payment. Please contact me on or before October 10, 2014 for purposes of settling this matter. If I do not hear from you on or before October 10, 2014, I will file a lawsuit against you without further notice. I will also file a formal complaint with the Contractors State License Board. It is in your best interest to settle this matter before a lawsuit is filed. If a judgment is obtained against you, it will negatively affect your ability to get credit, you will be ordered to pay court costs, and you will incur interest at a rate of 10% per annum." Ok. Here goes. My AC was blowing cool but Kathy and I have our system serviced every year. It's easier to yell at someone if you've paid them to make it right. Well Robert came out and disassembled the outside unit (whatever it's called). I'll explain mortgages to you all day, but these things are beyond me. He took the top and sides off. He showed me all the build up of crap from at least 6 years. He back washed all the grills. Holy crap (that's what it was). Our system has a leak. He showed me. We have to completely disassemble that outside unit and do a deep clean. We have to fill the system with Freon and check for the leak. Robert was very thorough. Couldn't ask for a better inspection. I told him to put his sticker on the system so I know who to call. Trying to get in touch with Bob to get my system fixed up. Ok. Here goes my update. Brandon showed up for my appointment on time. Great guy. He went through my AC system, cleaned it, charged it. We have lived here for over 6 years. Our AC has never been this cold. Never had anyone pay this attention to detail. We had someone watching the house while we were on vacation. They notified us the AC quit working. We called Trabuco Air, aka, Trabuco Hills Air. We had a friend come over and wait a couple of hours for the tech to show up. (They have a 4 hour window) When the guy arrived he called and said, he thought he was here for a water leak. We told him it was for the AC. Now that we have that straight. The guy looked at the unit for maybe 15 minutes. He called us back and said the Blower Motor was burnt out and it was going to cost $1,400 to replace. Since we were on vacation we decided to wait until we got home. Once we arrived home. Somepeople might not like Roberts direct approach, but one thing Robert does well is install Heating and Air Conditioning. We had moved to Orange County and about 2 weeks after living there the A/C went kaput! We called everyone even the places that claimed to be 24 hours and Robert came out and took a look at 9pm and said that if he could not fix it for under $200 the service call was free. He came by and determined the a/c compressor was shot and the 23 year old a/c system was not worth fixing. The landlords went ahead and went with Mr. Decker after they got a quote from someoen else that was nearly alot more then the same quote. I would advise everyone to read his website very closely and really educate yourself on how HVAC companies and Brands work. Mr. Decker speaks his mind and provides a direct approach to his business model and provides people with a quality install. Not only did Mr. Deckers crew show up ON TIME to replace the entire system, they installed it correclty. No cut corners, I never seen such a through job in all of the days I've seen HVAC people. I'm talking UV tape on all the joins, someone that actually screwed down the outside unit, even made sure everything had a clamp and screw onit. It's almost a piece of art. I would encourage everyone to give Trabuco Hills Air a shot, Robert isn't going to hustle you with the lies and threats, he speaks the truth without a filter and will advise you the best way to go. REALLY long story short..He might be able to install a unit but DONT hire him for repairs unless you are ready to buy a new unit. I got three quotes and he was the only one who said I needed a new one. hmmmm... His "service call" left my furnace a COMPLETE mess to the point no one else would touch it after him. See my pictures. He absolutely refused to return my furnace to the condition he found it and when I called and asked (I did not think to check before he left) he yelled something and HUNG UP ON ME! I even called back because I was desperate and offered him more money, but he still refused. SUSPICIOUS! He then sent a text to me by mistake "she is a dipsh*t" Now who do you think he was talking about??? AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!! UPDATE: He has THREATENED TO SUE ME because of my review and looking at other reviews I am not the first one. I will clarify a few points: The service he provided was "an in depth investigation, not just a service call" and it was dismantled to "save me money." If that is his highest level of service I shudder to think what is available at lower levels! He only said a new furnace "is an option" he did not require it (whatever that means). I have now lowered my review to 1 star from the original 2 stars. Robert had called me very dis-pleased with my comments on His company. His justification for canceling me at the last minute: 1. His first service call to my home was free, besides asking for $20 in gas. 2. I had told him I would like to write a review on Yelp to get the $25 off coupon he had mentioned if I do write a positive review. I did not write the positive review which in turn I did not receive the coupon. In his call to me which mostly ended in him yelling and being a hot head for the entire call, he said "if you do not have time to give me a positive review, then I don't have time to fix your ac unit". I feel I was completely cheated and wrongfully cancelled on at the very last minute. The review was completely optional and I would only get the coupon if I wrote the positive review. I did not write the review, I then did not get the coupon in return, Therefore why am I being yelled at and cancelled on? My feeling Robert, you were very aware of my condition as I had told you from the last service call an you purposely canceled on me at the last mintue. I truly appreciate Tim coordinating a same day A/C service and next day replacement of my Heat Pump Air Conditioner System. This is my second time with Trabuco Hills Air. In 2012 my A/C went out and they sent a service tech same day and the repair was done within a few hours(replaced compressor & fan started). I have not had another problem till this past Thursday night, when my renters texted me that they were only getting hot air. With temperatures climbing to the 90's, I needed a quick response. I called Trabuco Hills Air and Tim had someone at my house that Friday afternoon. It was a major problem and we could have tried a fix on it for $2500 with no guarantee or replace my 16yr old A/C unit. I went with a new Goodman 2.5 Ton 14 SEER Heat Pump Air Conditioner System and Tim coordinated the replacement for the next day, Saturday. Saturday, December 14, 2013 I called the phone number on an old service sticker on my HVAC heater unit in my garage this morning (12-14-2013); in hopes of getting help with a new Honeywell WIFI Smart thermostat ($225 Home Depot) diy install. This Lennox, Conservator, G12E must be almost 30 years old, because my house was built in 1980 and this is the original heater. The sticker says Sea Air Heating & Air Conditioning. I've talked to half a dozen HVAC technicians before today; trying to get some accurate wiring requirements for "C" common wire connection required for my new thermostat. This is a review for Robert without actually contracting him. I installed a new Digital Thermostat in our home 2 days ago. For the life of me I couldnt figure out why the AC wasnt working after my professional install job (ya right, i can barely mow the lawn). Anyways, I emailed Robert around 5am the following morning. He got back to me via email immediately stating that he was booked until Friday(tomorrow). Robert realized that we were in dire need of AC and couldnt wait till Friday. After the integrity and generosity their people showed me on a service call during their busiest time of the year, I will be using them for any of my HVAC needs moving forward. I had a technician from another company come out to fix my broken AC unit who said I needed a new contactor. After a couple days, he then called back, said he couldn't get the part, and was leaving for vacation the next day. I bought the part myself, installed it, and still no AC. Trabuco Hills Air was able to get to my house within 24 hours during the hottest week of the year and when every AC company was booking weeks out. Tim and his team quickly diagnosed my issue which turned out to be a very easy but very hidden reset button. After almost a week with no AC, another company mis-diagnosing the issue and leaving the job unfinished, and me installing the wrong part that they had recommended, I would gladly have paid DOUBLE their service fee for the 5 minutes it took them to identify and fix my issue. However, Tim said I had been through enough and refused to accept any payment. He was able to squeeze us in the next morning at 8 a.m. Brandon showed up right on time and was very knowledgeable and meticulous about his work and clean up. I called this company based on Yelp reviews so I'm happy to contribute and pass my review along. Robert fixed my heater and AC in one visit that several other companies failed to do in more than a half dozen visits. Very impressed with his expertise and ability to troubleshoot complicated issues. My AC/heater had been disassembled after nearly 10 visits by several other companies just to get the AC working. I'd used PennySaver and Coupon mailers to try and save a buck and they did get the AC working but by sacrificing the heater. Called Trabuco based on Yelp reviews and it took about a week for him to come out but he fixed the initial problem and fixed what the other companies had undone to the heater. I did but yet another thermostat which seems to be a common recommendation with HVAC guys I've had out but Robert made a strong case for why the one I had was wrong and I have enjoyed the wireless phone controlled upgrade. I waited about 3 months to write this review as before other companies would get it working and go out anywhere from same day to one or two weeks. Heater has been working perfectly for 3 months and I have a old 20 year old system. Price was fair (a few hundred dollars plus Thermostat) and evaluation of my old system was reasonable without pressure for expensive upgrades. The other guys were cheaper initially but doesn't mean much when the problem isn't fixed and then I can't get a hold of them. I recommend Trabuco Air based on my positive experience. I called Trabuco Air after my furnace was no longer producing heat. I got their number off the Goodman-Amana website as an authorized Goodman dealer. I had also called several other authorized dealers and explained my problem. Each dealer quoted me a minimum of $150 to $250 just for a house call. Robert from Trabuco Air returned my call and I explained the problem with my furnace as I had done with the other dealers. Robert spent about 20 minutes on the phone with me giving me step by step instruction on how to diagnose the problem. After completing several tasks and test, Robert determined my furnace had a bad pressure switch. He told me I could order a new pressure switch online for about $30. Trabuco air could have easily quoted me the same as the other dealers. Instead, they fixed my problem over the phone for free. They saved me easily $200 and they didn't even make a dime. True customer service is what's doing best for the customer, not for the business. This level of service will bring me back to them in the future. After looking at all the Yelp reviews I figured I'd give them a shot. I know a thing or two about Air Conditioners but I don't have the tools to repair them. Diagnose? Yes. Repair. No. This guy came over in a Prius. I don't know about you but most repair people come in trucks or vans unless its computer repair. A/C units get dirty, your tools are dirty. He ran through the system and said it was electrical line in and was going to charge me $400 to repair the system...not including what he might have charged to refill the AC (I hadn't had it serviced in 5 years so it's probably low). Took him an hour to determine that. You can figure that out in 5 minutes with a multimeter. I paid him his service fee (I wish I hadn't), shooed him away and broke out my own multi-meter. Capacitor. Really I didn't need to test it, the capacitor was bulging and leaking! In the end I paid $50 for the part and $69 for the "expert". I still need the AC recharged at some point but not from them. Makes me wonder how many of these people giving glowing reviews are getting screwed over bad diagnosis and wasted service fees. read more

**This review is for customer service over the phone, not service received on-site. It was almost 100 degrees today and after having some minor issues with my a/c unit, it shut off. I knew there was an obstruction and believed there to be more damage than there ended up being. Immediately I started calling HVAC companies and was being told that they had appointments from anywhere from a few days to two weeks out. Robert answered right away and was very sympathetic to my situation, telling me he wished he could fit me in sooner, but he couldn't until Saturday, two days away. Long story short (a few more back and forth calls and texts happened), he ended up giving me an appt for the following day. He was so kind and genuinely seemed like he wanted to help. I am not a person who takes time to write reviews, but this time I feel a need to do so as a consumer who has felt immense frustration with this company. My first bad experience begins when I enlisted the services of a ghost AC company, one that was recommended by a neighbor, to replace the AC unit and they replaced the air ducts inside the attic, or so they said, because inside there were no new connections and to make a story short, $5K later I decided to find a licensed company to repair all the terrible work done, I contacted 3 different companies and decided with Trabuco Air. They arrive, give me an estimate of $2.5K, but I accept, they do their job, reinstall the ducts, and SURPRISE! There's another issue that the ghost AC Company left, a gap between the roof and the unit which runs the risk of leakage during rain, it's another $3K to fix it. I don't have much of choice at this point, at least you think when you're mounting up to $6k and you're frustrated beyond belief, but it doesn't stop there. Barely 6 months later after they fixed the previous issues, the pipe that drains the water from condensation breaks and begins to leak on my roof! I call Trabuco Air thinking they would come to fix the broken pipe and surprise "Unfortunately, that's not covered in your contract" Robert says and it would be best if I call a handyman because it would be cheaper with them . Pray tell, how is reattaching a pipe not in the contact, but charging me $3k more to protect me from leakage but they can't fix a leaking problem made on their end? How ironic!! I explained to Robert all the bad experiences that have happened and all the money I lost that I had already paid to replace and fix my AC unit, almost $11K and he pretends to understand and says... "Sorry, I didn't know all that, you sound like a good person. Next week, we'll set an appointment to repair the pipe." I call the next week, he says this... "You know, call and ask for a maintenance service and with the technician there, you can show him the problem," Why to call for a maintenance if they worked on my AC less than 6 months ago??!! I won't lie and be dishonest like Robert and his company Trabuco Air, I only want, as a consumer, support when I need it. I paid thousands of dollars and Trabuco Air doesn't want to respond to me or build good morale with its clientele, instead they prefer to lose those relationships in favor of a couple bucks compared to the tons I've wasted. I don't know if all their "good" reviews are real or if they've asked family and friends to write them in and speak wonders of their work, but what I can say is that this one is coming from a client who is very real and very angry with Trabuco AC. read more

I was extremely happy with Trabuco Air. Robert was on time, well organized, and very knowledgeable. I called to have my air conditioner looked at since it was leaking a lot of water. I was tired of emptying a bucket every couple of hours and I was concerned that there might be a bigger issue. Robert is very knowledgeable and is willing to share his knowledge to whom ever is willing to listen. He showed me the potential problem and walked me through the steps on how to remove the clog. Unfortunately the previous owner had an unusual setup that was "Mickey Moused" together and the clog couldn't be reached at that time. Robert gave me multiple options for solutions and wanted me to schedule another appointment to do some time consuming rerouting and another possible solution. He said since he didn't solve the problem, HE DIDN'T CHARGE ME, not even for the house call. As an engineer I couldn't leave the leaky air conditioner alone, especially after learning where the problem may exist. After some experimenting I was able to knock out the clog and fix the leak! I called Robert about how he helped me fix the problem and he still didn't charge me. The old school philosophy is still alive, if you treat your customers well they will come back. After talking with three companies, we chose Robert at Trabuco Air to install a new A/C unit, move our heater up into the attic, and replace all our ducting. This was part of a large remodel project on a fixer-upper house we purchased in November 2012. Robert did a great job, with care and attention to detail. When we finally moved in, June 2013, we discovered that the thermostat had inexplicably stopped working. We were in the middle of a heat wave, I was 9 months pregnant and due to deliver any day, and frankly I was miserable! We called Robert to ask him to come see about the thermostat, knowing that he was probably slammed with work due to the heat wave and expecting a long wait. Nope! Robert really takes care of his customers! He came out early on a Sunday morning (I was in early labor at the time!!) and jerry-rigged the broken thermostat so that I could have a cool house that very day. We have found Robert to be extremely knowledgeable, willing to take the time to give careful explanations, and unfailingly considerate in all our interactions with him. He truly understands what service is. We will be using his company for all our future HVAC needs. read more

Ok, it's not often that I get to say...Job well done! What a great team to work with..starting with Sandra who was my first point of contact. Friendly, efficient, personable and reliable are just a few works to describe my experience with Sandra. Considering that I live in Northern Ca and my work request was for a home in SoCal., Sandra was amazing in coordinating my service request with my local broker! It didn't stop there. Robert then took over in delivering the service and working with my Agent and brother. He returned my call, discuss possible problems, and then went out and delivered! Thanks for the AWESOME service!
