We are so happy to have Jim from South County AIR come over this morning to fix our Air Conditioning! Wow, he replaced the capacitor and added a new filter and got us in a comfortable home again. We also upgraded the thermostat to digital so we can control the house with our phones. Jim walked through the house and explained how to get the best air flow and how to reduce the heat from the sun. All appropriate social distance protocols were followed. I want to thank Jim and his crew for doing a fantastic job of changing out our furnace. After the gas company determined that the firebox was cracked from 20+ years of use, I used Yelp to request several quotes for our project. The new environmental law requiring Super Low NOX was just implemented 2 months ago so I received all types of bids and prices, and all were very expensive. I thought maybe the S. Orange County area had premium prices so I also requested bids from the Los Angeles area too. After going over the bids and talking to the company representatives, we decided to go with Jim and have no regrets; he had the best price and service. My air conditioning went out the week before the 4th of July. My elderly parents were coming to stay at my home and attend a funeral the following week. I called South County Air. The owner Jim came out right away and looked at my unit. He was able to diagnose it and found that it could not be repaired. He very kindly fit me into his work schedule during 4th of July week so that I could have air-conditioning when my parents arrived a few days later. The new air conditioning works great and was affordable compared to what I've heard others had to pay. Jim and his company came highly recommended from one of my neighbors. Jim came by, couldn't find ac unit outside (even though he found it but assumed it was someone else's). Said the filter was clogged. Took the reusable one that just needed cleaning, put in a paper one, and then left, charging $100. The paper one didn't fit right either. It is bent and air passes through the sides. Additionally he just left cause he said he didn't want to work. And our ac is still broken. When we made an appointment he never gave me info on pricing, quoted me $25 then later said it was "in addition" to his hourly rate. This guy has been dodging my calls and now I'm contesting payment due to him taking the reusable filter without discussing it. Worst service I have ever experienced. Jim is an asset to have in our area. I had a condensation draining issue due to the coil not being level. The first company that came out said they couldn't access it because it was in a tight space in the attic, didn't know how they could fix it anyway, and offered no solution. They happily took their service call fee and said they'd apply it to the repair that they didn't think they could do. I called South County Air for a second opinion and Jim came out the next day. He crawled up in the attic and was able to build a brace that leveled the coil. Not a fun job in a small hot space. Problem solved in an hour. He's definitely a solution guy and the one I'll be calling when I need work done in the future. read more

I have been very impressed with South County Air Conditioning & Heating for many, many years. After we had an addition to our home constructed, we needed the 30 year old air conditioning system removed & replaced with a more efficient, up to date system. Jim & his team did the work magnificently, and gave us a totally new system. Our electricity bill for cooling dropped dramatically, and it cooled our much larger home perfectly. They have instructed us on how to replace the air filters periodically to keep the system running cool & efficiently. Today, Jim came by personally to re-set our Float Switch, and to clear out the water drain line (which was part of our home's original 35 year old drain system, and which had never before been cleaned out). This he did for a very reasonable price, and the system is now running and cooling as if it were new. Such a pleasant feeling! Thank you, Jim! They came out the same day I called. Very honest -- keep reading why. . .First time using SC A/C and Heating. Everyone I dealt with was very nice and friendly. My upstairs A/C was not blowing out cold air inside the house. The problem with my A/C not working was super simple and the technician, Zack, pointed it out and fixed it (blown fuse) in seconds. I felt Zack was very honest and could have easily gone down a fix it road I would have to pay to follow :) So overall, excellent, honest service. I called and left a message on Monday around 5:30pm. First thing Tuesday am, Dana called me and scheduled a same day appointment. I spoke to Jim, the owner, to pay. So overall, Dana, Zack, and Jim were all very nice and easy to work with. The only glitch was when I went to pay using a credit card over the phone, Jim the owner, was going to charge me $89. I said the website said $69. Jim said that was only for when a technician comes out for 45 min or less, which would have been the case with me, but I said there was a $20 discount offer on the website. Jim did not know what his website said and had to look it up. The website said, first time customers get a $20 discount so Jim honored it. $69 total. Minor minor issue, I will call them again for sure next A/C issue. read more

We hadn't had our A/C serviced for quite a few years so we were quite overdue. Jim came out to check things out and was direct and clear about what we did and didn't need done. We scheduled the service date and Alex and Jim showed up on time and did a fantastic job. Alex was so thorough and courteous. Our coils were in really bad shape having not been cleaned in so long but they seemed to get every bit of dirt out! When he left, you couldn't even tell that there had been a service guy here.. the areas were spotless. Buyer Beware !!! This company is a ripoff, I purchased a heating unit which turned out to be the wrong size for my house, it was supposed to be able to have air conditioning on this 3 ton unit. Found out the unit he installed coulld not handle air called Jim who pretended he did not know what I was talking about. He knew he had ripped us off and was playing dumb !!! He sold us a piece of cheap junk, and would not make good on his mistake. I called in several heating and air experts who told me the equipment was sub par and was worthless !!! I am giving them a 1 star, although they deserve less. My AC stopped working one summer and they came to fix it. they said it was a minor problem with my air conditioner and got a part. The installed it and it would not work. After about an hour of inspecting and trying they could not start it. then they tell me i need a new compressor and that they can sell it to me at a discount. i said, No. I called another company and within 5 minutes the guy says they had installed the wrong part for my system and he told me that it could have ruined my system which was only 5 years old. After other company's said we needed a new condenser that by the way was only 5 years old , Jim came over and rewired it and it was back up and running and has run flawlessly for 2 years now. We had a pretty complicated situation where central air would be somewhere between difficult and impossible, and with all floor air vents, not very efficient anyway since cool air falls.
