The entire system indeed, needed replacement! Capistrano Air came in at an honest quote and it was quite a bit less than a prior company's estimate, yet Capo. Air would be providing us with top-of-the- line equipment! Installation was scheduled and took place in less than a week. Shane and his crew were punctual, immediately set to work on removing the old, large heating system and outdoor unit, and worked tirelessly all day! We were constantly informed of each step - where the routing of tubing within the garage would be placed with attachment to the outside unit, and where its' location had to be, etc.. At completion, the system was tested, along with our Venstar thermostat - all functioned perfectly, and the property was left in impeccable condition! The technician, Luke, showed up on time for our scheduled appointment. He put his booties on before going upstairs to check the thermostat. Turned out, it was the capacitor in the a/c unit, so in our backyard. Luke explained everything and gave us a quote. We agreed and he fixed it in less than an hour. A/C was up and running. Luke also helped us changed out the filter. Clear and positive communication throughout the entire process. We felt that they were honest and price was fair. McShane was our technician and he's the reason I'm even leaving a 5 star review. He explained what he was doing and answered all my questions. He was respectful of the property, used shoe covers before entering, and asked permission before moving things around. You notice those little things when you've had a bad experience in the past. I called Jesse Moreno on Tuesday, he gave me a quote for a dryer vent cleaning over the phone and came in person to do the job that same Thursday. My dryer vent is odd and goes up through a wall in the center of the house and exits on the roof on the 2nd floor (thanks new home builder). I also asked him to inspect the full length of my vent tube, since houses in my area were known for rushed shoddy construction and part of the vent tube had come apart some years back (but was repaired by some AC guys I hired a few yrs ago). Jesse showed up 15min early and got the entire job done within about 35min, including a full cleaning of the vent tube from the roof all the way down to my dryer without having to move anything, take anything apart, and he spent a minimum of time inside my house. At my request, he also ran a camera down the tube to ensure there were no unrepaired breaks or leaks and everything was intact and working the way it was supposed to. At the end of the job he provided me with the video which showed my vent tube was sparkly clean, and he ended up charging me exactly what he quoted over the phone and not a penny more. Yes this job can be DIY if you have the right tools. But Jesse was so fast and clean and did the job so effortlessly, I feel like I will keep his number and call him every so often and save myself the time and effort. Our home was built in 1924 and the downstairs was graced with a floor heater that rattled and banged its way through years of doing the best job it could given its advanced age. I found Jim and Orange County Air a few years ago and was so pleased with the knowledge and skill that he graciously supplies, particularly with one of a kind homes in Laguna Beach. This year our diligent heater breathed its last sigh and Jim planned and executed the perfect solution with a wall heater that is nestled into the decor and is spreading consistent warmth and cheer just in time for the holidays. So the A/C goes out on my house Friday of Labor day weekend. My wife is freaking out for she needs/wants her air. Yes it is hot but I work outside so I am used to it. She calls me and informs me that she has someone coming! It is Labor day weekend Saturday. Is she crazy! Nobody comes out Labor day weekend on the Saturday. Does she no how much that costs! So while at work all I can think about is how much this is going to set me back. I get home from work 1:30 hot part of day to a Cold house! So yes a cold house does feel good after working in 100 degrees. I also was surprised the bill was extremely easy to swallow. The guys at South County Air were nice, punctual, and very knowledgeable. We have been using South County Air for over a decade at the Manzanita Cottages in Laguna Beach. Our historic property has "historic" 1927 floor heaters in all the cottages, and Jim has been taking care of them, since no one else seemed to know what to do except to try to get us to install new ones. I found out that the manger was the one performing the first $647 service He was rude and dismissive. I will no longer deal with this company again. Update. Trabuco air was sold to the current owner...maybe that is why their service and employees are not as good.

CEO Benny Godoy acted like an employee, he gave 5 year Warranty on Refrigerant. But it all leaked…read moreout the next day. He said, "You have to replace a Condenser to a whole new unit." And then, he will order it for me but it wasn't a brand name and I have to give him cash ahead of time. (Fraud) He added, "the Company doesn't know this secret deal. They will not support this and fire me. So, No warranty." I refused to give him several thousands of dollars somebody who acted like a fired employee because of this deal. I asked for Refund of $800 for the Refrigerant that got all leaked out under Refrigerant Warranty. He denied and pushed me into the Unwarranted non-brand name condenser that his company doesn't back up. I took him to a court, he lied to the judge, "I have HOME WARRANTY insurance. They could cover the damaged condenser." He only had BOND and they wrote, "We are not home warranty insurance." He damaged my AMANA condenser and did not Honor his "Refrigerant Warranty for 5 yrs." - He lives in a hundred-million dollar mansion. -

I called another company who tried to clear them and indicated it was impossible and that they would need to pull up hardscaping and replace the lines and quoted a 5-figure sum to do the work. I decided to get a second opinion and called Kevin at Kalka Plumbing. Kevin was incredibly honest and upfront from the start. He indicated that he should be able to clear the lines, but there may be sections that might have to be replaced but would do his best to at least clear the lines in the hardscaped areas. Kevin and his team were able to clear everything and did an excellent job cleaning up and leaving my back and front yard pristine (cleaner than when they started). Instead of pushing for the most expensive or invasive 'standard' fix, they saved me a significant amount of money and the results were exceptional. It is so rare to find a trade professional with this level of integrity and problem-solving skills. If you want someone who is honest, fair, brilliant at what they do, and truly looking out for the customer, look no further!

He recommended to replace a motherboard since it was "fried" on the outside AC unit. Scheduling the next appointment was a nightmare. We had something in the books so my wife was at home waiting the entire day for the guy to show up but never arrived. No text.. no call..nothing. I had to personally call the company and let them know they never arrived, they apologized and scheduled me for the following week. He arrived with the part and installed it and the unit was still failing... he didn't know what was going on so they brought out the senior technician to take a look and the bigger issue lied within the furnace in my attic which was going to cost a few grand to fix. I agreed to get this fixed and was notified the part would arrive in about 3 months or so. So here I am in February excited to get some heating and air conditioning back in our home. I call the office and it turns out they never ordered the part...... I'm flabbergasted at this point because not only did they not order the part but they quoted me a few grand higher than the original estimate. I've wasted my time and money here. I've paid for a motherboard that didn't resolve anything and waited 3 months for nothing. If you're looking for HVAC service I would not recommend this company. The search continues for an honest contractor...

We'd been without heat for a couple of weeks (and, as Southern Californians, we are unaccustomed to freezing to death in our own family room). I'd worked with another vendor in the past, whom I'd found to be trustworthy and professional; but alas, they were shorthanded and overbooked. So I went back to Yelp and found Family Heat and Air. They're local and well-reviewed. As I mentioned above, Imelda got back to me right away and had a guy standing here (fully masked, without my having to specifically request it) an hour later. Our furnace is under the house in a yucky crawlspace, but down he went; half an hour later, there was hot air blowing from the floor vents! Imelda also did me an additional favor by checking on the age of our furnace (the house is 35 years old). Turns out the previous owner had replaced it twenty years ago or so, which certainly doesn't make it new but should be well within its expected lifetime. That was reassuring! At $170, the service call was on the high end of what I'd expect to pay (but, to be clear, it was the exactly the price they disclosed beforehand). On the other hand, I was more than happy to pay it considering how rapidly and how well the situation was resolved. At the end of the day, I'm able to compose this review sitting in my family room in my shirtsleeves, sans the layers of sweaters I'd been wearing the past two weeks. As we're all stuck at home again thanks to omicron (and our neighbors who refuse to wear masks or get vaccinated), we spend a lot of time here, and we'd rather not shiver while we're doing it (it makes it hard to type). Let the thaw begin.
