GETTING HERE: Located in the old Toys R Us off Johnson in Ventura. (Across from where Mission Church --RIP Century 16-- is now) MOOD: Looking forward to checking this out! Let's shop. REVIEW: This was a good time and I can't wait to go back. I didn't have anything specific in mind for this first visit, but I can always find myself a new Yeti or something of that nature. They carry so much and it's a huge footprint inside. The service was nice and much appreciated! I came in after July 4th and was looking to see if they had any items on sale. I found a couple of America 250 shirts and was pleased. When I was at the register the employee they were only on sale for a "Flash Sale" for the holiday and were back to full price (which didn't reflect the prices on the posted signs near the clothing.) I came here looking for something to help get my chickens to stop bullying each other and they had a variety of products to help me. The store is quite large, and as I walked past the baby chickens, an employee who was inside the fenced area with them greeted me warmly and asked if I was interested in any of the chicks. I was happy to see they had guinea fowl there. I'd love to get some, but not right now. They have a ton of stuff for farm, garden and livestock. Right at the entrance they had a large number of flat top grills, which I've heard great things about, and also some big gun safes. The young woman behind the register was friendly and professional. Store was clean and well stocked. Parking is easy and the location is easy to find off the 101. read more

It's so nice to finally have this location open. I no longer have to make trips out to Moorpark, stop in at the Fresno location when visiting family, or visit The Wharf and pay for the pellet bedding I buy for my rabbits. This location is HUGE! There is a section that is wide open that you can see leads to their storage area. I like that this location has lit up boards telling you what section you are in. Precious locations were kind of mess in that way. I got what I wanted and briefly looked over the store. The small animal section (rabbits, guinea pigs, hamster) is really lacking. There was like 4 chew toys available which rabbits can't even had some of them and the small animal bagged hay selection was minimal ( although I don't even buy bagged hay) but it's nice to have options of I was in a pinch. read more

They have reasonably priced pet food here like dog, cat, bird, chicken, etc. Lots of brands and variety for your pets here. I also liked the bird house selection here. Not so much gardening stuff but more like stuff you need to work on the farm. They have a lot of grass seed here though. They have good safety glove selection here. read more

Needed to fill propane tank for bbq grill and tried TS. Perfect experience. Called to get info and then drove over, walked in and informed cashier what I needed. Drove around side of building and an employee came out promptly and filled up tank. Payed with credit card on site. You pay for what you need, my other fill station had to pay a flat rate even if it still had gas in it. So you don't have to use it to dead empty to get your moneys worth. Finally, an REI version of ranching and farming equipment store! Came in to check it out over the weekend and was not disappointed. Plenty of everything for the home garden, to a large working ranch. Need a new tractor? They've got it! Tools, gear, feed, mulch, seeds...they have everything, heck, even a new pair of work boots and work shirt! Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. read more

Shout out to Tractor supply Ventura. Since they've opened in Ventura it's been my go to for lambs, chicken and ducks. On top of everything else home and garden. The staff has always been top notch with help finding a unicorn (hard to find) chicken coop to helping breakdown and package a dog run that was built and the only one in the store! It's been a great addition to the area and glad to see the old building it's took over in use again! read more

It's so strange having the old Toys R Us building in use again. I grew up going to that place. You walk in and remember the coin machines and rides, now replaced with farming supplies. The location has new life and I'm glad to see farmers and livestock enthusiasts have a new place to go. Hopefully, this means the stores that have been closed in the area will get populated again. There's broken windows in some of them. Sad to see. I run a guinea pig rescue and sanctuary, and I was disappointed in their selection unfortunately. I hope they remove the junk food for small animals and replace with Oxbow. Hamsters and guinea pigs should never have salt licks, treats with honey or seeds, or soy/wheat as the main ingredient. The cages aren't good either. Either get one midwest habitat per guinea pig, or build a C&C. No pet store cages or hutches. At least their wood shavings are kiln dried and they have Oxbow hay. Please add larger bales and prioritize Oxbow treats and pellets. I did find Ivermectin though, which is great. read more

What a great place! We loved walking around and checking out the variety of merchandise they have. There's even a dog washing station. The thing that impressed me the most were the employees. They were readily available (unlike most stores) and very helpful. We happened to chat with the store manager and she was fantastic! This place deserves your business. read more

What a great addition to this side of town. This store is filled with everything from garden supplies to live chicks for sale in the store. I bought a great hummingbird feeder for $9.99. The customer service is great and Lisa at the check stand is awesome. They also sell the dog food that my 2 French bulldogs eat. I'll be back :) read more
