Never actually visited but sent several emails to inquire about a Mazda5. Internet Sales person "Bill" responded with a low price, about $500 lower than other bay area dealers. They also offer an "unlimited engine warranty" through "Western General Co". They push this no cost to customer warranty as a unique advantage over other dealers. I kept asking for specific info on the terms of this warranty and Bill just kept telling me good stuff about it, but avoided ever providing a copy or sending the details. Tracy is a fair drive from the Bay area and I'm not going to drive out there unless I know all the specifics. Even though their stated price was lower than other closer dealers, it really makes me suspicious if they won't provide info to me so I can make my own decision as to the value of their offering. After buying over 7 vehicles over the last 20 years, I've learned that you should try to get as many of the details of a price/package negotiation settled before walking into a dealers' showroom. read more

4 Stars strictly from working with Joe. This time around I came with my gf's family to help my her find a car. I didn't get any pushy vibe from him unlike when i visited Tracy Hyundai a long time ago. Mind you we went ON 4th of july, so I was surprised he was so relaxed. Anyways. Informative: Pretty much knew the ins and outs of the car, other brands, and his entire business "system." I expected to catch a lot of mistakes or bs because from past experiences, some salesmen have tried to BS into buying the car. Personality: Good guy, brought up his wife here and there which earned him points with my gf lol. Sale: He helped when we needed him, and gave us room when we needed to talk. He was able to actually help us more than simply trying to sell. Also, since we were with my gf's parents, i expected a lot of hurdles. Fortunately, he was able to play nice, and straighten out a lot of the confusion they might have had. Aside from this he also made sure to go over various details about the car AFTER the sale instead of forgetting us like a few other salesmen i saw on the lot. He pretty much made sure we knew how to break-in the car, and the various features. I mean, it's expected, but you'd be surprised how many times this is really skimmed over. Also got to talk to him after the fact for reasons im lazy to explain. I got to really know the guy and actually talk to him about various car related topics. You can tell he's an enthusiast, or at least a "driver" more than just a car owner, even working on cars when he was growing up among other things. I plan to work with him if I ever go back here. Car salesmen will always be car salesmen, you should expect it. But make sure it's not a sleazy one and that he knows what he/she's talking about. If you want a mazda, I highly suggest this guy. I have never dealt with such a condescending Finance person in all my years of car purchasing. No customer service in his attitude. First he says I may not understand him because he speaks too fast since he is from the East Coast, what a joke. Maybe because I was a woman?? As I said condescending. Then all he can speak on is the after purchase warranty. I'm sorry, as a buyer I want to know about the deal they are making me. He was unable to give information on purchase price, trade-in value, cost of loan, any negotiation available. All he wanted to know was if I was buying an additional warranty. When I questioned him he gave me a number I had not heard before and he just said where do you think the interest and taxes come from. Nasty man. No sales technique at all. I felt bad for the young salesman watching. Please do not emulate this persons conduct and attitude. The car I looked at had about 4000 miles, it had over heating issues, electrical issues and they seemed to think it was just because they hadn't started it in a while, really....it was cheap looking, poor line of sight, and even though I was only able to drive at 35 mph (overheating) very poor driving. I drove a long way to look at this car, Cars.com had a finance cost online which was totally incorrect, and they didn't even try to show me something else. Never go there. read more

I was pretty pleased with my experience with buying my new car. I gave 3 stars just because I was a little irritated with the way they handled my online price quote request. I emailed to get a quote on the car I was looking at. I had been into the dealership a few months prior to sort of scope out the car I was interested in, but knew I wasn't ready to buy. At that time the salesperson I dealt with was very kind and patient and understood that I was just looking and wasn't pushy at all. When I emailed for a price quote I got a reply back asking when I was looking to buy. I stated I was looking anytime between the time I sent the email and a month from then. The reply I received said, call me when you're ready to buy. Well obviously I wasn't looking for that, I was looking for a price quote. I really didn't want to drive to another town to look at cars, so I again visited Tracy Mazda. We went again and looked at the car I was interested in. Received a lot of information and the sales people weren't too pushy. Of course we did get the standard, "What's keeping you from making a purchase today," question. 2 days later we went in and purchased my new car. We were out of there in under 2 hours. Just got my first oil change at Tracy mazda service center. I was excited to get my oil done at a dealership since I always have it done at a 3rd party place but I am extremely disappointed. First the guy tried to charge me $45 so I reminded him it was my first oil change with the new car, so it should be free. He agreed but when I received my invoice it was $33. I'm assuming since it was free they used the coupon price or they just did the cheapie service. Either way it's shady. I had an appointment for 10 an he said it was going to be 1.5 hours. After 2 hours of waiting I went to check on it an he said it was almost done. 15 min later I finally get my keys and leave. What's the point of having an appointment? How could they be that far behind only 2.5 hours into opening?! When I got home I popped the hood and inspected what they did. Since my car was dirty I could see what they touched. They did not check my air pressure in my tires, washer fluid or anything else. Only the oil. On top of it all they didn't wash it. If they would have I probably wouldn't have noticed that they didn't do anything. Who knows if they even fixed the recall on my car. Needless to say I am extremely disappointed and probably will not be back to the service center read more

I have been a loyal costumer with Tracy Mazda since 2016. I have taken my vehicle there for all of my maintenance needs. The ladies at the service department have always been professional and transparent when it came to my vehicle's maintance needs. I am not sure what happened in the last year but I have not had the same customer service as I have the first five years. The new customer service representative does not seem to be knowledgeable nor does he seem to be willing to fully hear out the customer. I replaced both my front and back brakes as needed within this last year. My front brakes began giving me problems and making a horrible sound as well leaving a burning rubber smell. I took it in and the gentlemen in the customer service counter was trying to dismiss me after 30 minutes. I chose to talk to the mechanic directly and went for a drive with him. The mechanic was eventually able to do a better inspection and was able to identify that there was a problem with one of my brakes. The previous mechanic did not resurface one side of my brakes when they were replaced. I appreciate the mechanic, Joe's, willingness to listen to me and take me serious unlike the representative. The young man was new so I chalked it up to being a new employee hiccup. I've been new at jobs before, I understand it takes a bit to get into the flow of things and understand procedures. I was hoping that if we had another encounter with him he would do better at listening to the customer and relaying the information to the mechanic. A few months have passed and my back brakes have sporatically begun to engage while driving. We took it in and the same representative was there and provided the same condescending service. I am beyond disappointed with the quality of customer care we have recently received. One of my back brakes began to engage while I was driving leaving my rotor glowing red. We have video and photos yet were told they "mean nothing if they cannot recreate it while test driving it" by the young man. Any decent mechanic shop would not dismiss something so alarming and dangerous. My brake can catch on fire or completely lock up on me and cause an accident. When that was brought to the gentlemen's attention my fiancé was told that they would not be liable for that. All I wanted is for them to look into why my car was having serious issues. At the end, the mechanic was able to come out and explained that he was not told the specifics of the issue and to just check the previous work done on the brakes. My fiancé showed him the pictures and explained to him the situation. The mechanic agreed that it was definitely a safety concern but he didn't have time that day to do a full inspection. Again, the customer's concerns were not relayed to the mechanics. The next available appointment for them to view my car was for a week later. I chose to contact a different Mazda dealership and was able to get an appointment right away. The other service department listened to our concerns and were able to identify the cause of the issue. My goal here is not to bash Tracy Mazda, I have had countless excellent experiences with them in the past. I am hoping that they look into how their future customers are being addressed. I am concerned other customers will be dismissed and placed in potential dangerous situations. Personally, I have chosen from now on to take my car to another Mazda dealership. read more

The car was fantastic and Jim made the sales process very pleasant. They detailed the car and gave me some touch up paint as well. I drove 1.5 hours to get there but it was worth it. I went for a diagnostic for my sunroof that was not working, I specifically asked to not check anything else as I was in a hurry. The diagnostic was 80$ and all the tech did was press the " open close " button on the sunroof and determined it was a 800$ fix . The sunroof control pad was also left Filthy with car smudge and my car smelled of gasoline. I did not pay 80$ to tell me something I already knew and to dirty my car. On top of that they ran diagnostics all over my car and left me with my check engine light on , something I have never had in 3 years of owning the car. I have been to many dealerships and this is by far the WORST dealership I have ever been to. Avoid this place like the Black Plague. I will be leaving a review on the BBB as well. read more

Where to begin... I visited Tracy Honda (yes I know this is a review about Mazda bare with me) on April 9th and purchased a 2016 Honda CRV- SE AWD. I was misinformed by the sales associate as to what engine was in my car, the mileage of the car itself, and how the car ran in general. I was given a horrible deal on a car while 8 months pregnant, and left with a bad feeling in my stomach. It wasn't even 24 hours later I found out that the car I had just purchased had an idling issue while in drive. My whole car would vibrate when I would be stopped in traffic, or in a drive thru. I also saw that the CRV was only getting 17-22 mpg when I was told it would get what my 2014 Honda Civic got, which was 28-32 mpg. I took the car back that Friday April 12th furious as to what I was sold. Trying to find a manager to talk to, Brett Allen the General Manager of Tracy Honda came out of his office, over hearing that I needed to speak to someone of importance. Right off the bat Brett made me feel welcomed, and made me feel as if I was his top priority. I told him the story, and right away he got the service manager to come out and help me out to make sure the idling wasn't worse than what normal 2015-2016 CRVs have. (Which I did not know and was not disclosed at the time of purchase by the sales associate) Jeremy the service manager which was super knowledgeable and very nice sat in the car and road around for about 15 minutes before telling me the cars issue was something that couldn't be fixed. At that time Brett made it his mission to get me in a car I could see my future family in. I left that Friday for a doctors appointment and came back Monday to talk to Brett about a new car to get me out of the CRV. I test drove an HR-V and liked it, but it was out of my price range and not worth what I was going to pay. Feeling lost, I left and came back Tuesday for a fresh start. I was told by Brett that Tracy Mazda was owned by the same person who owns Tracy Honda, and that they don't do it often but they could switch out my CRV for a CX 5 Mazda. I was scared to stray away from Honda (loving my civic so much) but decided to test drive one and see how it felt. Brett went inside and got the most amazing sales person I have ever met Kristie DeBenedetti!!! She was kind, honest, caring, and she knew her product well which made all of the difference! She got the keys to four cars that were in my price range, and we started test driving. We started at a 2016 CX-5 touring addition that was 3,000 under what I paid for the CRV. I got in the car, LOVING ever feature it had to offer (way better that the CRV). We then left on our test drive, where she helped me understand what the car could do and how it handled, and boy was it beautiful! We got back to the lot and I was confident I found the car I was looking for. All it was now was to pick which one! The other models were the same, but more expensive for different colors or AWD so I decided to stick to the one that was 3,000 dollars less than my car, with better everything. I was so ecstatic! We then went inside to do paper work. I started to get really hungry and Kristie was kind enough to go into the back and bring me out a taco that Tracy Mazda provides to their employees as a gift. She made me feel at home and made conversation the whole time I was there! It was never awkward and all she wanted to do was help me and my family get into a better car situation. I cannot thank Brett enough for bringing her into this crazy mess! If not for her I wouldn't have the car I love. Next, my finance gurus Zamir Amin and Carlos Vega came through and got me an amazing percentage rate even with the negative equity I was transferring from my old car. They called in some favors with some friends and got me the best deal they could!! A whole 4.5 percent better than the car I had just bought at Honda! The whole time in Zamirs office he made me laugh, let me check out his phone cause mine broke, and helped me calm my nerves with everything going on! I couldn't have been more thankful to him. Carlos was checking on me throughout the process and making me laugh the whole time as well! They really made me feel like family waiting for my new car purchase and being 8 months pregnant with new car stress, that's all I could ever ask for even dealing with a big corporation. I have never had such a pleasant experience with such pleasant people in my life. Brett was checking in the whole time from the time I walked into his office, from the time I hugged him and walked out with my new Mazda keys. 10/10 service, 10/10 all around. I'm blown out of the water! Thank you so much to every single one of you guys who helped me get through this process at Tracy Mazda and Tracy Honda. Last week my 2014 Mazda 6 began having some problems, I called Tracy Mazda where I purchased my very first new to me car back in 2015 (which was also the quickest car buying experience ever, I would state the lady's name but I can not remember it- but she was amazing too)-- to see if I was covered I spoke with Amanda in the service center who has been a pleasure to work with during the entire/ongoing ordeal. She got all the information, helped me with the process as its my first new vehicle with a manufacture problem, and I was unaware of how to handle ANY of it. Upon diagnosis she realized the part would take much longer than normal. She explained everything in detail and had a loaner waiting for me upon my arrival. She literally had all my paperwork waiting for review and signature and I was out the door. Although having a my new-ish car need repairs under 100k is frustrating, and the part taking above average time to get in I know that's not Tracy Mazda's fault. Tracy Mazda and Amanda have definitely given me good reason to continue to shop with them and use them for servicing needs. read more

Really frustrating experience but you be the judge... 1) I spend 48-hours negotiating my needs with numerous Mazda dealers in the area and receive multiple great offers 2) 'Nick Tan' tells me that he can beat my lowest offer and provides the information [FIRST time the numbers were confirmed] 3) Over email, I ask Nick to make absolutely sure that he double checks the numbers [SECOND time the numbers were confirmed] 4) Because of the great conversations and assurances I receive from Nick, I decide to move forward with Tracy Mazda 5) Nick tells me he won't be there the next day, but his colleague 'James Anthony' will take care of me 6) I call James to make absolutely sure that he double checks the numbers [THIRD time the numbers were confirmed], and set up a time to come in 7) I drive 45 minutes to get to Tracy Mazda 8) James goes through the numbers with me at the dealership and we do 30 minutes worth of paperwork, everything looks good [FOURTH time the numbers were confirmed]. ----- Side note, I proceed to tell James that I'm looking to buy my wife and my friend a Mazda and because of my great experiences with Tracy Mazda so far, I was coming back to give him more of my money over the weekend ----- 9) I'm asked to wait as they call the "warehouse", and it would only be a little bit to get the car 10) Ten minutes afterwards, James tries to upsell me in the same car with the $1,425 package; I assure him that I wouldn't use the added features 11) Another 10 minutes passes, James tries to upsell me on a different color car, I say no 12) Another 15 minutes passes, James goes back to trying to upsell me the same car with the $1,425 package and tells me he'd do me a favor as it would "ballpark, just add $40 to my monthly lease payment"; I let him know that I can do a little math and $40 * 36-months = $1,440 -- ie. more than the package itself (and this is for a lease!!!) 13) Another 15 minutes passes, James alerts me that after talking with his manager, there has been a "mistake" in my rebates and that suddenly, my monthly payments increase $60 a month. 14) I ask if they are going to do anything about "their" mistake and James tells me that they would be "giving the car away" at the price they had agreed to me on FOUR separate occasions 15) I say no, and James proceeds to tell me "better to find out now than wait two hours for the car to get here from Mazda San Francisco" (a dealership that had offered me a similar deal) 16) I proceed to call and then drive to Mazda San Francisco, and they honor the EXACT deal they promised me. And their deal was $2 cheaper per month than Tracy Mazda. And I got out of there in 40 minutes flat Clearly, Mazda San Francisco "gave away the car" to me when I signed the lease for exactly what they promised me over email / phone. I also like the old 'bait and switch' tactics from Tracy Mazda to get me in the door, only to try and upsell me because they literally didn't even have the car they were trying to sell me in their inventory (and then they tried to keep me around long enough for them to find the car) Shady shady shady. And infuriating to deal with when I'm doing everything in my power to try and avoid these terrible car salesmen tactics. ---------------------------------------------------------- Dear Mazda Sales Manager: I read your comments on all negative Yelp feedback requesting to call you. Let me tell you what I want: 1) Reimburse me for my three-hours of wasted time ($100/hour = $300) 2) Reimburse me for the fuel I wasted to get to and from Tracy (60 miles = $6) 3) Print out a large poster and put it in the front window of your dealership publicly shaming the employees who implore these tactics 4) Take a picture of that and put it on Yelp so that everyone knows exactly how committed you are to avoiding these types of tricks Do that, and then we'll talk about me changing my rating. I'd been researching the latest Mazdas in search of a new car to go with a new job, and wanted to give the new 3 hatchback a test drive following rave reviews across the Internet. Since I'm originally from the UK, I really wanted to find a manual transmission - starting with an email to online sales, I spoke to Jim who was very helpful and patient with my requests, and able to accommodate us coming in to view and test drive at short notice. The dealership is in a good location, just off the freeway but seeming much more 'out of the way' than it really is - this gives it a less busy atmosphere and allows for a proper test drive on quieter backroads. As soon as we arrived, Jim had a new automatic and manual for me ready to drive, as I'd wanted to try both to aid in a decision. At no time did I feel pushed or coerced into a decision I didn't really want to make. Once we re-visited two days later, decision and paperwork in hand, we were helped through the quickest and easiest car sales experience I have ever had. There was transparency and verification of correct information all the way through, and we were helped to find the best loan rate possible. My purchase even came with a first free oil change! I only don't give 5 stars as once we reached the stage of signing the financial paperwork, the finance guy seemed to want to overly push extended warranty and gap insurance onto us - at one point he praised the virtues of gap insurance, and then once we had said no he said, 'Well your downpayment is a good amount of equity on the vehicle, so I wouldn't feel comfortable selling gap insurance to you anyway'. That came across as a little shady, but he was very pleasant and friendly as we were going through the rest of the process. Delighted with my purchase so far, and I hope that, once I need it, the service department holds up equally to these excellent standards. 5 starts to Shane in the service department. I am unable to drop off my vehicle and pick up a loaner due to my work schedule. Shane helped set me up with a loaner car and drop my car off after hours. He went out of his way to help me get my information setup to pickup a loaner car after their department closed. He left all the needed paperwork and keys with sales. After a couple of months I found out that Thrace Mazda charged me more than $7000 extra for a guarantee and the manager didn't tell me about it.
