Im gonna go ahead and give this place 5 stars because while I'm sure they can improve in one area or another, they're always consistent and on point when I'm here, which is at least a couple of times a week. They always have full shelves and are willing to go to the back and grab whatever you need. Tonight I went looking for something specific based on my friend Cheryl M's review. I have been wanting to try Kunefe for a while now and thanks to her review I am going to try it out tonight. In the "spirit" of tomorrow being the first day of fall, I wanted to pick up some fall kinda treats.. I got Maple Leaf cookies, Pumpkin Bread Mix, and Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake Mix! I love Trader Joe's. Its my favorite grocery store and the customer service at CV is exceptional. So much selection, and everyone is so willing to help. Never again. I've always been a big fan of Trader Joe's--from their fresh produce to their convenient ready-to-go items--but this experience was different. I decided to try something new from their frozen food section: the mini cheeseburgers. I followed the cooking instructions exactly, but about two hours later, I became sick and was unwell for two days. That day, I ate my usual meals, with the mini cheeseburgers being the only new addition. I'm not sure if it was a bad batch or if the cooking instructions were off, but I wouldn't recommend them. If you do try them, make sure you have some Imodium and plenty of Liquid IV on hand. One star for the food product. read more

Did a little more shopping than planned and realized I somehow left my credit card at home...grrrrr...embarrassing as I only had $40 in my wallet...it's already 8:35 pm and place closes at 9. Ugh! Of course I'm expecting *scoffs*...loud *sighs* and an eye roll from the checker...NOPE! JOSH was a true professional and sincerely made light of the situation and said no worries..*ding ding* rings the bell..more attention!) The crew manager walks over since mentioned I would go home and get my card. Again, embarrassing and expecting him to be impatient or make some snide remark...it's so sad that's the reaction one expects (these days) as good ole customer service is a rarity Crew Manager, LIONEL was totally understanding and mentioned it happens all the time. All I can say is...after my sister helped save me (as she lives close by) Josh and Lionel just had me smiling and laughing while walking out the store. This is my favorite grocery store. Things are priced just right. I prefer getting fresh cut flowers from here because of the price and the quality. The produce is of great quality as well. Do try their salad kits which are delicious. They also have ready to eat meal kits. Some of the favorite things to pick up from this grocery store are juices, coconut water, fresh produce, ready to eat salad kits, frozen Indian food, canned fizzy juices, potted plants. Also they have an amazing customer service, the staff is great, super nice and helpful. Have had the same experience in every Trader Joe's store I have been to. Read a nutrition blog about smoked salmon, eggs, and kale. It referenced the ingredients all from TJ's. Everything But the Bagel Seasoned Smoked Salmon mixed with Soft Scrambled Eggs, on a bed Kale. Sprouted Wheat toast optional. The salmon is farm raised and not overpowering mixed in the the eggs. 4 oz equals the size of your palm, so I mix in 1 oz with 3 large eggs. Trust. Love this TJ's for being conveniently close to my house. The location is pretty accessible as well. The parking is a bit tricky sometimes as it does get busy and a bit crowded. The selection here is great they have all of my go-to items usually such as fruits, my favorite cheeses, frozen items, etc. They always have a good rotation of what comes in and out too. I always see new candy on the shelves or new chips, thats really fun! I love trying new things that come into TJs! The staff is very friendly and will always strike up a convo with you. The reason for my stars is that even tho they have a good rotation sometimes I find myself looking for stuff like the Assorted Crackers (4 diff kinds), Chili Lime Rolled Chips (taki alternatives), and more so it kinda lets me down but i still love this place regardless read more

Well as usual this Trader Joe's employee's are the best. I Have been wanting my pumpkin items. Trader Joe's lady on Instagram always keeps me updated. So I get there hoping everything would be there. Everything was there besides my pumpkin ice cream cones. And Punkin yogurt I was lucky to get one thank you for the people that didn't buy them all and left me one. My grandfather always serum by the last of something. But grandpa and 54 I'll be 55 Sunday I have to do it I had to get the Punkin yogurt. Specially because they didn't have my pumpkin ice cream cones. And I'm sure if I would've went up to the front of the service place they would've told me when they were coming in. Because they always on top of everything such nice people. My cashier was so kind oh my God he was a gentleman. The bottom of my receipt got torn off unfortunately and he should have his name on top! I don't ow which register I was at. He did tell me where he goes to this restaurant that has Punkin tempura. He is conversation was so nice and friendly and not overbearing. He's just a really nice man. I'm gonnaLook for him every time I come in there even if his line is around the corner. I'm gonna get in the line such a nice person. My shopping experience was just very pleasant it's 8:36 PM. I know when I used to work in Montgomery wards oh my gosh some of my age. I did not like last minute customers. I love Trader Joe's!! That's it. That's the review. . Just kidding. I appreciate this location because the staff is always really friendly and helpful. The store is well maintained and clean. I've gone Sunday evening during football season and there is no one in the store. I went on Thursday and it seems like that's the day they restock a lot however, I did go closer towards the store closing so maybe that was a factor. Trader Joe's is the last of the really great grocery stores out there. Whole Foods was so popular and famous, etc. and I have been delivered their food to Amazon because I am old and crippled and I thought well I'll have to eat this $10 fee but the truth is the food and any other products from them. They are Amazon products and they are knock offs just like everything is on Amazon. No quality knock offs are inferior products. Though I don't get into Trader Joe's very often because I am housebound a lot. The other closest location in San Leandro! (wishful thinking is WHEN will the 'Dro get their very own TJ's that seems like a #1 wish for residents?! Hmm..) Anyway, this convenient establishment of a specialty grocery store is a destination primarily for the Heart of the Bay (Hayward) & its surrounding cities. Many San Leandrans make a trek over here to do some high-quality grocery shopping at a fraction of a cost, in addition, to indulging themselves in a specialty grocery hunt that could only be found here - among their many unique items that not only I, but my family & friends continue to enjoy! They have so much variety - from the different ethnic cuisines, to providing the freshest produce available at reasonable prices! You really can't beat that anywhere else! Ample parking is available, in addition to having some shared spaces with its neighbors - it couldn't get any easier. At the earlier stages of the pandemic, long lines were formed almost around the perimeter of the store; however, as the cases have decreased & almost into opening things up to normalcy, those lines are long gone - and you could shop here with ease! Just know it DOES get crowded during peak times on weekends, and may have a line just to get inside - remember, patience is a virtue, ya'll! I feel as I don't come here often, since I prefer to hit up the Alameda TJ's due to a straight shot down the road on Doolittle from the West 'Dro - however, I am grateful that this Castro Valley location is another option for those who live around the area, and provides so many items for those who wants that TJ's experience! Always met with friendly, helpful, and available service here. I love coming here for their frozen produce and their seasonal novelties. The only thing is that parking can be a bit of a hassle, so I'd recommend going earlier in the day. I love coming grocery shopping at this Tradder Joes. It is super busy here during the weekends, I try to mostly come through the week. The fruits, veggies, meats, and dairy are always fresh. Let me start by saying I Love TJ's! Well clearly so does everyone else and since the pandemic, it's a rarity to just walk-in without having to wait. In either case, I was having a snack attack and wanted to run in quickly. Well it wasn't quick but I will say the line usually does move quickly. I ran in and grabbed these Saddle Potato Chips that I've been purposefully not buying because I feared I would love them and that is exactly what happened. I hate I ever tried them because I literally have to buy them by 2's ‍ OMG - they're on the order of Pringle's and super DELISH! TJ's you have a very special employee who deserves recognition. Carole is an absolute delight! She gave me a warm enthusiastic greeting and worked quickly. While she was checking out my groceries I mentioned missing out on a certain cooler bag color and how much I really wanted that color. She said oh I purchased that color its in my trunk and I never use it so you're more than welcome to have it, in fact I want to gift it to you. I said oh no! I can't its yours and such a pretty color please at least let me pay you. She said absolutely not! I have a break after my next customer I will run to my car and get it. As a Black woman dealing with the current admin. temperament/climate it's exhausting! Therefore, I'm a bit guarded, however, Carole's kind gesture literally restored my faith in humanity!!! This is the only Trader Joe's that's keeps a line wrapped around the corner. In scorching hot weather they keep the lines moving at 1 person at a time. Even Trader Joe's in Los Angeles they offer water to the people in line. So sad to see people standing outside dripping sweat. Go to Dublin or Pleasanton you're treated better! read more

This is the place to go for fresh food, great selection, and friendly staff. The store is always clean and seems welcoming. Unfortunately, I'm addicted to Diet Coke and have to go to Safeway to get it. Every time I go to Safeway is just a reminder why I prefer Trader Joe's over Safeway. Safeways customer service used to be good about 20 years ago. They don't pay what they used to and just seem to attract a bunch of employees who take zero pride in their work. I've even called corporate multiple times about the Safeway on Foothill in Hayward and it just keeps getting worse and worse. The last time I was there the lady working the floral department stated yelling at me in Chinese because I wanted to pay for my floral items and a bag of chips at her register and not wait in the long line with two available cashiers. I went here with my family on Saturday. I expected us to find a world of chaos, but my wife and son were quite surprised (my wife brought up the Fremont location a few times, but the situation is the same there). We only found parking because a black car was heading out when we arrived. The parking lot is kind of small and tight (limited parking seems to be a common feature of the chain- it has even been joked about on a popular podcast that I listen to). You may need to park by the church that's on the right. The hours are great. This location is open daily from 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Some homeless people hang out in the parking lot. They're not obtrusive (people go up to them, not the other way around), and I partly mention this because I give to homeless people all the time. The store is small, and we couldn't casually look at anything. Two shoppers in particular made us feel rushed. Even standing in line was a minor ordeal. We only walked out with 1 item. The 16 oz. bag of turkey meatballs was only $3.99 (it features about 12 medium-sized meatballs). A bag of Korean short ribs was $12.99, but I just wasn't intrigued enough to get it. The cheese that we were looking for isn't sold here (Cracker Barrel Havarti Cheese). We also checked out some other items (ice cream; snacks; drinks), but we weren't really interested in them. There's a solid selection of meat (the selection of liquor also stands out), and the store is clean and organized well. I stared at the murals and signs inside. They're very cool and colorful. The employees worked hard and were friendly. Our cashier was Jake, and I especially give him some props (he could see that I was in a bad mood, but he was quick and very nice). I don't know if we'll be back. I love shopping at Trader Joe's. It is close to my home and work - super convenient. My problem is with how long it takes to check out. I seriously wonder if moving as slowly as humanly possible is part of the employee training. While I appreciate the friendliness of all their employees, if they are so engaged in conversation that they pause between bagging each item to laugh and chat as if we all have nowhere else to be, I'd almost rather they be rude! This has been bothering me for a very long time, but today just put me over the edge, and I felt like I had to air my grievance. I really really like this Trader Joe's. It's not super close to where I live, but it's worth it for me to travel 15-20 minutes to get here via the freeway. It's located very close to the 580 and it's easy to pull in/out of the parking lot. Vegan/plant-based options, frozen options, produce, etc. is pretty standard and do not disappoint. I always get suckered into those snacks in the back, ugh! The everything but the bagel potato chips and the rolled tortilla chips with chili (TJ's version of Takis, basically) are my go-to snacks. If you are looking for something healthy and think it's a long drive to Sprouts in Fremont, this may be the ticket for you. There is something for everyone in this store and the store is very popular as you can see in the photo I've posted, lines can get long. But if there is one thing I admire about this store, they handle their lines quickly! I've seen other stores (think threes a crowd) that have lines and they are slow to move. But Trader Joe's does a fantastic job with moving things along. Especially our checkout guy, Brian, he was fantastic! You can find the same stuff here, packaged salads, meats , craft beers, natural household goods , pet foods, wines, etc. A little bit more on the pricier side compared by supermarket standards, but you really get more for your buck here. Racism cannot be tolerated at trade joes redwood rd. A tall white female checker assigned operated the "items and less lane" which is the checkout lane closest to managers kiosk This lady had served a customer in front of me. It took but 20 seconds for her to behave as if she had not serviced a customer in front of me. She was still open in her lane prior to me being there. There was no mistake to this fact. It was about 7:40pm 12/8/2022 Yet she turned around looking the other register operated by her Trader Joe's female white employee. Something made her want to send me there but I didn't budge. She said aloud to me that I should go there. But stopped short of that idea when I didn't reply. I placed food items on the pullout table available for the tall lady to scan, she scanned the ice cream, facial oil, popcorn, and bread. I had my wine and yogurt in my arm. I brought out my id. And as she read the id she was silent, but after she reached out to me to hand the id she let out a fussy noise about eight times as she handed the I.d back. My id was valid no comment was needed. A proper thank you sir was what I needed! Clearly this lady had further problems viewing a legitimate identification and a heavy spender. Did I mention as if she didn't notice I black man and had a black teen with me? This one has always been an OK Trader Joe's. Always crowded, horrible parking, often sold out of things, and the pre-made salads and produce are usually on their last leg. This location is no longer enforcing masks, even though there is still a statewide mandate. Odd coming from a company who has always claimed to be concerned about health and safety throughout the pandemic. Seems they really don't. No mask is OK, but you are required to sanitize your cart and not allowed to bag your own things, because of Covid. Makes total sense, right?!?! I won't be back for a while if ever. read more

For nominal $.. yes 2 buck chuck is now $3. But its still hits the mark. My gotos. Bean and cheese burrito and the kale slaw. As well as the organic lollipops and kettle cooked chips. Hard to keep those item out of my basket. And yes they have that short line with 2 count them 2 cashiers , so you can just jet outta there. While I'm a Sprout's girl, TJ's was my first love when it comes to health food stores. I come here on the weeks I don't feel like traveling all the way to Sprout's. The clerks are so friendly, and there is usually pleasant conversation at the register. Price wise TJ's can be affordable or expensive depending on my shopping strategy and what I'm getting. If I'm here to get some key items sure it's affordable; if doing a full shopping trip for a week worth of food for my whole family it adds up fast and I can easily go over budget. Some items such as ground turkey are more affordable at around $3 per pack. Fruit is more expensive, and I buy majority produce. It's a nice time browsing TJ aisles, especially the store brand items. My TJ staples are the orange chicken and the cookie butter(taste great with apples). I remember shopping here a lot in college because of all the ready made items in the freezer section. Oh and I can't forget about Squirt! For those with antsy little ones, Squirt is the resident stuffed turtle that is hidden somewhere different everyday. Little ones can ask staff for hints, and once found they can go to the front counter for a prize/treat.Their store also offers samples and coffee. Parking can take patience on crowded days. I notice when I come after work some produce is limited or out. I'd suggest coming earlier in the day. read more

We live in walking distance of this Trader Joe's so we go here a few times a week, it's become our new 'corner store'. I've always been a fan of the brand but this particular location is special to me because they are SO SO SO SO nice to me and my family. My toddler has befriended Damien and every time she seems him there is an unparalleled level of excitement that everyone in the store can feel because she exclaims loudly how happy she is to see him. He is always warm, friendly, nice, polite and patient with her. He even remembers both of our names! The customer service is great and the employees are super nice. My only 'gripe' if I had one would be the parking lot, it is an absolute nightmare. Luckily we are close enough to walk and usually do that when we visit. read more
