I love Trader Joe's. Quality, organic groceries for amazing prices - I'm convinced all college towns should have one. My family has been going to this location for years, and I have never had a bad experience. However, they do have a significantly smaller selection of produce compared to giant supermarkets. Also, shout out to a female worker there (I wish I asked for her name!). She overheard me telling my mom I could not find any delice cheese (they didn't have any more out) and went out of her way to find some from me. Prime example of amazing customer service! This review is my thank you note to the amazing crew members at this particular TJ for helping me after I accidentally dropped my bag of grocery with a tomato sauce after walking out of the store. I didn't know what to do, except I didn't want the sauce getting onto my car. So I walked back into the store and asked if I could buy a paper bag to put my grocery bag with the tomato sauce in it so I can clean it up after I get home. A crew member heard my request and looked into my bag and immediately signaled another crew member to grab a new tomato sauce and a bag of apple (that was also in the same bag and now covered in tomato sauce). Then, the crew member said to me, "are you sure you want to keep this bag?" I told him, I can go home and clean it up. He said, "it's covered in glass now and I don't want you to hurt yourself. Tell you what, let me trade you. Let's go pick out a new TJ bag for you." The other crew member came back with the new tomato sauce and apples, and put it in the new TJ bag that I just picked out. I was so overwhelmed with kindness and was also speechless by the way these two crew members helped me. I hope they know how much their gestures meant to me that day. I love Trader Joe's! Yes, even the one in UCI where the long lines and parking lot are filled with students! I love the flowers that line the entrance/exit. Makes me feel like I'm at a good place. I'm always tempted to bring a pot home, but haven't yet. Maybe someday soon! This was where I discovered that they sold a second box of macarons: a box of 12 with 6 flavors (as opposed to the one with chocolate & vanilla only). I didn't like the texture of these as much. I love Trader Joe's so much. It's my favorite place to buy my groceries from in the whole entire world. They don't carry brand names, unless it's their own. They have such quality, clean, good sourced, and delicious ingredients here. We're truly blessed to have such a place exist! I'm a regular here. It's so convenient as a student living on campus. Right after class, just come here and buy my groceries and go home. I don't think anything is too outrageously priced. Has a lot of items for a lot of different people. I highly recommend this place, especially for students who want to save some money by making things themselves. The staffs are also very friendly and will help you if you need something. The only thing is that if it's busy, there won't be enough staff to help everyone. But normally if you're looking for something or have questions about a product, the staffs will usually dedicate some time helping you out specifically. Cashiers are very quick and they'll bag your stuff for you too. The only negative would be that some othe produce such as fruits, vegetable and salads could have gone bad but it's still on the shelf. So you as the customer will have to make sure you check what you're buying carefully. Sometimes there could be an over ripe avacodo or orange inside the bags or super wet spinach and kale in a salad mix. One time I didn't see that there was an apple bitten from the bag but the cashier who rung me up saw it and went to get me a new one. That's excellent. Great location, great customer service and competitive pricing on their products. read more

I give this location 5 stars because it's located in walking distance and their prices are incredible. I think the quality of food at TJ's is great compared to other stores in the area. We make the most out the produce section and have been able to make very few trips back and forth. The staff is always friendly and polite. Parking lot could be a little more efficient for this shopping center but I have absolutely no complaints about the store. read more

I love Trader Joe's. And yeah I'll be back despite my 3-star review. But I am disappointed. I like this location; I actually prefer it over the Culver store. I just wish the customer service was better. It's hit or miss. I've had mostly ok experiences but lately, it's a miss...the staff doesn't seem to care. Cashiers are almost always socializing with other coworkers/baggers and barely interact with customers. There's excessive socializing in the frozen section. On one occasion, there were three stockers blocking the entire aisle laughing and joking while goods are literally defrosting. This explains why I've been overcharged twice in the past six months and why my frozen entrees look expired. read more

I love Trader Joe's! It's one of my FAVORITE places to shop for organic food and little snacks. I love the popcorn and the drinks section. The store is always clean and organized. The service is great- friendly and helpful. I think I come here here at least once a week or so. TJ's can't beat any other store for carrying organic produce that is not painful for my wallet :) I love it! There are also samples of drinks/food in the back PLUS it's close to UCI. Added bonus! I really like Trader Joe's, it is one of my favorite places to shop. They have really great products and the prices are very low. This Trader Joe's is pretty similar to other Trader Joe's in California (and elsewhere). Everyone is really helpful and friendly, and they are quite willing to help you find what you are looking for even if they have to check in the back. It can get really busy right around dinner time, so avoid shopping then if you are in a hurry. However, there is never a long wait to check out even if it is busy, they are very efficient. The only reason this is not a five star review is that this Trader Joe's is smaller than some others, and the layout is not the best. (At least they moved the paper products to a slightly more logical location, but it is still inconvenient and some items are just difficult to find.) I much prefer the one in Claremont, it is newer and has a better layout. read more

If you go to UCI, this place will be one of your best friends! I absolutely love this Trader Joe's! Parking is always quick and easy to find. They have so many options for their foods, and there's always free samples! You can't say no to free samples! I love how I get to taste new cheeses every week too aside the free samples they have in the back. The fruit and vegetables are always fresh. The staff here is helpful, friendly, and pretty funny too. They'll make small talk with you and it just makes me really happy. Trader Joe's really is organic and I can certainly taste the difference. This TJ's is one of my favorite places to shop at around the UCI campus! The prices are astounding especially for the average college student's budget, and I always enjoy trying out random foods for the fun of it. The employees are so nice, and the cashiers enjoy chatting with customers at check out. If I lived closer to UTC, I would shop here more regularly! Just be wary of parking! The parking lot has plenty of parking spaces, but it can get crazy busy at night especially on the weekends. read more

If I ever leave the UC Irvine area, I am going to miss this Trader Joe's location. Trader Joe's products and the products they carry are always quality & I feel like I am getting what I pay for in only the best ways possible! What's more is that the service here is always great. TJ staff are always friendly and helpful & whenever I check out we always end up in some light conversation! First off, I love the location and size of Trader Joe's! After you come a few times you gain a pretty good feel of what products are where and sometimes you might see something new (or new to you) pop up and yes, you should go for it and try it! It's probable that it's affordable! Another thing I love is that they give out SAMPLES! Now, now it's nothing like Costco samples but they do give you a taste of quite a variety of items! Sometimes they have a plate of food (mini-plate) and it's enjoyable along with the coffee they usually have out for you to try. I also really like they have grab-n-go lunch options! From pressed juice, regular juices, and kefir drinks to wraps and salads if you're hungry or need something to settle your stomach for a while - stop over at TJ! Trader Joe's also sells a variety of wines, beers, and hard liquor. I think that your best deals here are on the wine! They have a bunch of different options and they are rather affordable. They also sell flowers, which at first you might be like "Hold up, Janelle No No No..Flowers are expensive!" Well, fear not! The flowers at Trader Joe's aren't too expensive so if you're picking some up for a special someone, want to add some fragrance and flair to your home, or it's for someone's grad or what not - you can look no further and buy some here! One of the issues I do have from time to time is really dependent on WHEN you come. If you go on Sundays & Mondays or other days/times when everyone else seems to be buying groceries, you're going to run into lines and maybe even times when they're out of items, which sucks but it's a pretty small grocery store. The only time the latter has really happened to me was when college students came back from winter break and needed to restock their fridges. Oh. My. Goodness. 'Twas an experience. Parking can be hit or miss sometimes because it's in the UTC. But if you go during the right times you shouldn't have a problem. Extra Tidbits. Excellent Trader Joes. Although it's more packed than others I've been to, the quality and amount of healthy foods are always consistent. I'm so glad there's one next to campus. Delicious salads, cookies, reduced guilt chips, butter waffle cookies, Japanese fried rice, and a wide selection of frozen foods, drinks, and so much more. I always buy fruit here too when they have the 2lb bag deal. I got apples first, and then pears. Both were organic and delicious! The customer service at Trader Joes is always so amazing. I'm constantly greeted with a smile, a simple "how are you?" that may possibly escalate to small talk, and then to a conversation, and lastly to a heart-wrenching good bye and "have a wonderful day!" I love Trader Joe's! You can never go wrong with buying your groceries here. They have a wide variety of cheese which is perfect because my boyfriend loves cheese. We usually buy prosciutto and a box of the pita crackers or the Rosemary crackers to go with it. I recently bought flank steak here and the cut of the meat was totally worth the price. Have to confess the store itself was very well kept to include stocked items the dates seemingly in order .. Problem was the check out cashier ( failed to get her full name ) Name on the receipt only as A . Liza .. Grabbed my cart ripped it away from me began checking items before I could rethink to move to the other cashier whom also waved me over .. Now I know why ! Several failed attempts by me to defuse her attitude towards me were made .. Not only rude yet a "know it all" "intrusive" "obnoxious" person in that I was left to discussing directions to another store with the other cashier .. My thought was to perhaps dialogue with the other cashier ( as I was finished discussing with A. Liza ) in that she could explain this other store could be very close with some simple verbal direction .. A. Liza kept up her forceful opinion for me to address her only ! A. Liza would not let up her barrage to the point of almost hysterical "talk to your phone" !! Over and over upon my ignoring her rampage .. ( My phone was charging in my vehicle it was not in my company ) .. The other TJ's cashier being friendly helpful courteous above all understanding .. I am in love with Trader Joe's, I do most of my shopping at Trader Joe's, they have organic stuff and you always can find different great things in store. I recommend you always check the new items, they have a different rack for new items which is pretty interesting and every time you go there you can find good stuff. Seasonal products are the other thing that is a very interesting, make sure you don't miss them. I got the food I wanted but I did not appreciate the way I was treated as a woman of color at the store. I entered Trader Joe's at night with my friend, who is more white-passing than I am, and we looked for snacks to buy. I got my things first and came to the register, there were two women who were white and/or white-passing and did not speak a word to me and grab my items. I inserted my card and when I was done paying they harshly pushed my items towards me when I was done paying. However, when my friend was ready to pay, they were praising her for her choice of dessert and giving her advice on how to best eat it. It was uncomfortable to watch what I just did but with someone else who had a different skin tone and features. I am heartbroken since I have been coming here for years with family and friends and to be treated like this was disgusting. read more

Fresh, organic groceries, bread, breakfast food, milk, yogurt and cheese, smoothies, snacks, cookies, sweets, spices, nuts, soups, ice creams, complete meals, vitamins and much more at this university TJ's location makes it quite convenient to shop at most times, except early evenings. The checkout lines can be daunting at times as it's a smaller grocery store. The quality of most food items is excellent. Just make sure you don't buy them too close to the expiration date (especially the breads.) Love how you can be in and out in a few minutes if you are in a hurry. read more

NEW STORE HOURS: 8am - 10pm Thank you, Trader Joe's for OPENING EARLIER for me! For a long time, they'd open at 9am, then last year, they started to open at 8:30am. Not too long ago, they opened earlier: 8am! Yes! This gives me time to pick up my breakfast and lunch items before I go to work across the street. This Trader Joe's location ALWAYS has coffee samples available, too. I love coming here for my small cup of joe. -1 Star: One time, I came here and found expired food. This is just your average Trader Joes. But a few specifics on how they earned 4 stars for me. 4 stars for customer service. Here is why: I was looking for spirulina in the supplement section, and the clerk was totally real with me and directed me to go to Mother's Market, stating they had a better and wider selection. HE WAS RIGHT. I wish I caught his name. Thank you, angel-wearing-blue-jeans! 4 stars for produce and prices combined. Cheap, organic and fresh produce. Spinach, zucchini, banana and lemons are my personal fave. 4 stars for ezekiel bread prices. Not bad, my friends. Their Trader Joe brand sprouted grain bread was also inexpensive and tasted good too. Really, who doesn't like Trader Joe's? Quick stuff, fresh stuff, fermented stuff, organic stuff, kosher stuff, vegan stuff and sometimes I can even find some fatty stuff for people like me...ultimately, Trader Joe's is Trader Joe's...Wine, food, flowers and aloha shirts... What makes this store a different? Across the street from UCI, each week, this Trader Joe's hides a stuffed anteater toy (UCI's mascot) somewhere in the store, and if your child finds it, they win a prize. I've found him a couple times, it's much more challenging than it sounds. I don't have kids, but I imagine that this would make it fun to go shopping as a family... read more

Trader Joe's - what's not to love? Great prices, friendly staff, every thing you need to fill your pantry and your tummy. Parking can look intimidating but it's really not as bad as it looks, promise. People coming and going pretty quickly so not a problem. My major issue with this location is the sample selection. Why so infrequently vegetarian options? It bums me out because I LOVE TJs samples and I so often turn the corner by the sample bar only to be confronted with Chicken Tamales and a sharp disappointment. But I guess that's life. Lines move quickly, crowed not too annoying. It's Irvine so people are all like, "go on in front of me" when you're standing there with a 99 cent bottle of TJs sparkling berry water (which I highly recommend) and they have a cart full of whatever-the-f. read more
