Trader Joe's products are great but most of the employees here aren't helpful at all. Their attitudes suck. I was there a few days ago and struggling to put some items in my car. A few TJ employees passed by and didn't bother asking if I needed help... and they weren't on their breaks. I was parked kind of on a slope and my cart was getting away from me. It was hard to manage the cart and putting the items in the car. They saw me time and time again and didn't even bother asking me if I needed help. They suck! read more

I prefer this Trader Joes to any Trader Joes that's within driving distance for me. It also helps that I work in Montrose. The Trader Joes in La Crescenta leaves a bad taste in my mouth. The parking is the worst there and I feel that they don't have the products that I need. This is where this Trader Joes comes in handy. I love this place wholeheartedly. I frequent this place a few times a week it seems. The parking is substantially easier here, I almost never have a hard time finding a spot. I also like the selection here as they have a lot of stuff that smaller TJs don't have. I find myself getting a few salads (just had the Pasadena salad for the first time and loved it) and some other stuff because hubby loves TJ products. As always, friendly staff here. I love everyone that I've come into contact here, extremely helpful in that "I'm helping you because I want to not because I have to" way. Like many Californians, I've been to quite a number of Trader Joe's. And I guess the beauty of Trader Joe's is that you know what to expect as they try to carry the same goods at all locations. Most TJ employees, I've found, are friendly and eager to help. You have a new layout, different signage perhaps, but generally, the goods are usually organized the same way. Produce, wine, dairy, frozen so once you find the right aisle...you're golden. Even the parking lots are the same, no matter how large or small, they are accident zones. You can feel your heartbeat racing as you battle the drivers all pulling out at once and pedestrians focused on their phones, but usually it's worth it. read more

Yesterday was the third time I brought home a rotten box of fruit from this Trader Joe's. I've noticed that recently they have majority of their fresh fruits in plastic boxes which is a problem in and out of itself. And, the other problem is that you can't check for rotted fruits covered by some fresh ones on top. I've bought not-too-fresh strawberries, blue berries and this time grapes which were half rotten from this store. Today, I took the box of rotten grapes back a sign of protest. I don't think it won't make any difference, though. I won't shop there any longer. Next stop is at the Sprouts a few blocks away on the same Foothill Blvd. read more

shhhhhhhhhhhhhh This is my secret Trader Joe's... I can't think of any other Trader Joe's that parking (for me anyway) has been this easy. I can't think of any other Trader Joe's that doesn't take fooreeverr to get to, even if it's semi-close by (all the ones in Pasadena are on super-congested streets) I can't think of any other Trader Joe's that isn't jam packed -- nearly ALL the time. So -- when I realized that there was a trader joe's in La Canada, super close to my house... with NOOO traffic congestion... easy parking.. and close to places like PetCo and Han's beauty stor??? Really??? I'm a little confused by the other reviews here -- the times I've been to this TJ's... the staff has been TJ's nice -- that super nice when you think the guy may be hitting on you, until you realize you're in TJ's and they talk to EVERYONE... The people in the store have actually been friendly too -- when Anna C. and I were searching for Basil -- audibly searching... like, "dude, where's the basil???" a woman stopped and told us where she found it... It is a small location -- but it doesn't feel cramped and really... with so few people there, it's like having a TJ's all to yourself.... which makes going to TJ's a joy like it SHOULD be... instead of an anxiety attack waiting to happen... read more

Great organic produce and a much lower price then their competitors Whole Foods any day! I buy their homemade corn tortillas and the dried fruit and the fresh spinach and avocados are always a great buy. Educated people shop here. They don't have to stand in the aisles and squint to read every package like this is some library (as opposed to the Montrose location). They don't walk around aimlessly picking up items that they don't buy like the zombies who shop at TJ's Montrose. They don't consider this a family outing and drag the kids and mom & dad to the place just to clog up the aisles with a debate about whether Susie can have the whole wheat cereal or the gluten free tortillas. People here know what they are here for and get it done, fast. The parking sucks, but not as bad as Montrose or Eagle Rock. Aside from being elbowed in the checkout line by ruthless soccer moms who are late for their nail appointments, this place is fine. Humans, not zombies, shop here. read more

I've been coming to this TJ location for years now. I work in Pasadena but live in Altadena and it is much easier to access this location since it is right off the freeway. Staff here is alway super knowledgeable and friendly. The place is always well stocked and tend to have the higher end options as trader joes goes... Bathrooms always clean and that is a plus if you are taking a three year old in who won't let you help with the process. I love the flow of the layout of this location and the aisle are wide enough too. One down side is the parking, its not like the parking is bad, its the design and the way people navigate in the lot, it just doesn't flow well. Then again might have a little to do with some of the patrons and their entitlement. I come here all the time and will keep doing so. read more

Trader Joe's is a wonderful addition to the grocery family, maybe better than Ralphs or Vons. Its cheaper, fresher, they offer more organic food, and they have different selections than most big commercialized stores. This store is bigger than others I've seen and parking is better with the bigger lots they share with Petco and other stores. I love their pizza, tofutti's, and salads. read more

I give this particular Trader Joe's a 4-star rating because... the customer base is rude. Even though this is the closest TJ's to my home, i dislike it, because the other shoppers are typically rude, and don't look at you, and will walk right into you. I much prefer the Rosemead location. The rating would have been a 3-star, but the lady behind me in line was so nice as to allow me to run and pick out the salsa i forgot, and return to my spot in line. However, because the clientele are rude, the parking lot is tough to navigate as per the first review. And the shop feels even smaller for the same reason. One customer shouted to his wife, "Let's get out of here, it's too crowded I can't stand it, let's go to Rosemead." It was kind of funny. read more

I LOVE Trader Joe's. I swear, I could live on only things bought here and be a happy, happy woman. I frequent TJ's at most five times a week, at least once a week, in various cities across L. A. Whether its the ingredients for a family meal you're shopping for, or just picking up a quick bite for lunch, you'll find something fresh, delicious, (relatively) healthy, amazing, and unique to satisfy your need. My staples from Trader Joe's are the fresh salad fixings (bagged organic baby spinach, organic baby lettuce, organic tomatoes, organic baby carrots, English cucumber, etc.), ready-to-eat meats to go on the salads, their pre-fixed salads (the Reduced Guilt Asian Chicken is my fav!), their multi-grain fiber bread, their natural peanut butter, their reduced-sugar strawberry jelly, their Fiberful fruit leather, their vast selection of nuts and dried fruit, their flat pretzels to dip in hummus, their garlic hummus, their Greek yogurt, their lime bubble water (AKA TJ's Sparkling Mineral Water), their sugar-free chocolate bars, the Reggiano Lambrusco sweet red wine, the rest of their organic produce... okay now I'm just going up and down the aisles in my head. You get the point - I love their products. The employees are always awesome and helpful no matter the location, and make the shopping experience that much better. The prices for produce can add up quickly, but you'll feel better because it's quality fruits & veggies. For the other stuff, prices are reasonable, if not inexpensive, especially compared to Whole Foods and the like. If you need me, I'll be at Trader Joe's. read more

I know this TJ location is rather small but I'm giving it 5 stars just because I appreciate having TJ's close by. I could care less about the shoppers not looking or saying hi to me. The staff could be a little friendlier but it's okay. I'm just glad for the place to stay. I go there to score wine, no calorie cookies, tortilla chips, organic veggies, and frozen dinners (which I'm not fond of, but I consider when it's from trader joes). And it's really not that expensive as some would think. I actually think I save when I go here because I'm less tempted to buy stuff that I don't need since it's a small store. This is one of my favorite places to shop, with Sprouts being a super close second. The only thing that gives it the nudge above Sprouts is the variety of healthy & yummy for you food that they offer. I could go to the Trader Joe's in Pasadena, but I really prefer the parking here at the La Canada store. I can always find a parking spot and when I'm done I usually hit the Starbucks a few doors away or the Petco that's even closer. So convenient! I love being greeted by the potted plants and beautiful flowers they always have at the front of the store. All of them and the fresh cut flowers right inside are so reasonably priced its hard not to buy a pretty bunch to bring home! TJ's is also my source for the fabulous blueberry-pomegranate green tea. I tried it 3 months ago and it was sooo good, especially chilled on a hot summer day or when you are done working out. I also buy their breads and trail mixes. They also have a really good offering of fresh salads to go. For awhile I would buy three or four at a time and take them to work for a much healthier meal than what I usually scrounge around. The employees here are a great bunch too, very friendly and helpful. What else can I say about this store...the La Canada TJ rocks!! read more

I'm in here maybe 4 days a week. Friendly staff, good prices on neat foody stuff. Much better than the stuffy Whole Foods. Free tiny cups of coffee bring me in, and I leave $40 later. GREAT selection of value wines, both on their own labels, and vintners labels. read more

Located in the nearby shopping center by my job, I love this lovation. Five minutes from my job. I can run over no problem during lunch. Parking can be a bit tricky as the shopping center is usual busy. The store is clean and orderly. They are fuly stcked. There is nothing I havent been able to find that I am looking for when I am here. Employees are all friendly and super helpful. Trader Joe's La Canada (42) has become the headquarters of the mask police. Employees and management encourage fellow shoppers to stalk, harass and annoy people deemed as "rule breakers". My wife and daughter were accosted by an aggressive male in his thirties for "inappropriate mask display". Seems that my wife let her mask slip to the tip of her nose while bending over to pick up a product. The aggressor quickly made spectacle by pointing out her egregious mistake and announcing it to the store. Rather than allowing my wife to simply correct her mask positioning and move on, the aggressor (now stalker) proceeded to follow my wife and underage daughter around the store while trying to get the attention of TJ employees to add tattle telling to his list of accomplishments. Getting increasingly nervous, My daughter announced to the store while telling this man that she was feeling very uncomfortable with the aggressor following them around. She became very scared and got emotional. This did not prevent the stalker to follow them all the way to the checkout lane, making snide comments the entire time. When the store employee finally arrived, rather than making sure my wife and daughter were safe, HE chose to chastise them about proper mask wear (while not remaining six feet of distance I might add). After getting back home, we called the store manager. In classic "take no responsibly" fashion, HE claims that he knew nothing of the incident and would of interceded if he did. Pretty lame when the entire store witnessed what took place. But I wouldn't expect much more from such a wuss. Needless to say, my family and extended family will not becoming back to this local store as they do not feel safe shopping there. What Trader Joe's fails to realize is while they have a right to take a position and operate in a certain fashion during this crisis, eventually this will pass and some will be left with a proverbial egg on their face. Everyday, hundreds of customers walk through this store. Why hasn't anyone stopped and asked each customer where their shoes have been? Has anyone walked through a Men's restroom? The transfer rate bacteria from shoes to clean tiles was 90% to 99%. Bacteria that has been found on footwear includes E. coli, a source of urinary tract infections and diarrhea, as well as other bacteria causing pneumonia (Klebsiella pneumonia) and respiratory tract infections (Serratia ficaria). So, while the effectiveness of wearing a mask has had mixed reports regarding its effectiveness (BTW, the stalker was wearing an N95 masked which has already been ruled a no-no for health reasons), no one is worried about what shoes are carrying into the store by the minute. The hypocrisy (and utter stupidity) is overwhelming. So, just remember when you are shopping at Store 42 in La Canada, they will be going through a re-branding effort soon. They are finalizing their new name. Will it be "Hater" Joe's or Traitor Karen's? We shall soon find out. read more

I like the place....quirky stuff...but as it is mostly there own brands the quality is very consistent! Don't go here for normal evryday stuff like paper towels...but for wine it kicks ass. Everyone is just so friendly at this location! I like coming here because it's close to work so I can stop by on my lunch break to get a few things. The parking lot can be a pain on peak hours so I definitely avoid it on the weekends. The selection is fantastic because they actually carry condensed milk. Great customer service! I walked up to the cashier to pay with only one patron in front of me (other lines also had 2 people in line), and they opened a check-out stand for me! More people got in line after me and the original line I was in and they opened ANOTHER check-out stand! In total, there were 6 check-out stands open.
