I Heart TJ but this location the parking can be an absolute nightmare

TINY parking lot! I usually stop at the TJ's on rosecrans but I popped into this location the other day because the Lobsta truck was there (yum). You might have to park on the street if you do your shopping here. Other than that, the store itself is fine, the staff is friendly and helpful. read more

This Trader Joe's is easy because its on the way to the gym. Unfortunately, parking here is awful after 5:00 pm. I don't even try the lot. I either park at a meter or at the gym and just walk. They generally have everything I need (except blackberries) and are friendly enough. Prices are good! read more

another afternoon quickie with TJ for lunch. i ran into this location and was pleased to discover that they had my favorite salad - bbq chicken. grabbed that plus two bananas (19 cents each) and a bottle of fiji water, and voila, instant $5 lunch. although there were not too many patrons wandering around in the middle of a weekday, lines were still a little backed up. i peeked at their frozen dessert section, always a good indicator of the size of the store. there was a dismal five kinds of desserts, booo. parking situation: the lot is teeny tiny, i felt like such a jerk entering from the wrong way and parked by the apartments at the back of the lot. next time during peak hours, probably best to park on the street. read more

Parking is tricky, but it's Trader Joe's so what do you expect? TJs isn't really my speed with all their emphasis on pre-made and pre-packaged food, but I love it for bottled water and nuts. You could try to approach from the back, which is exit only, or you could try to go at a less-popular time. Honestly, this location is bearable even if you go on a Saturday afternoon. read more

Friendly staff, yada yada. The parking lot is so small, and so hard to get into, it's just not worth it. Go to the one up the street on Rosecrans instead. It may be slightly more crowded inside, but you wont get stuck in a 20 minute shi*tshow trying to get in/out of the parking lot. read more

I live down the block and this is my grocery spot. The staff here are always helpful, smiling and friendly. Love all their stuff. Ultimate favorite is the tiny ice cream cones in vanilla...ok fine...count the ice cream sandwiches in too with the chocolate chips hehe read more

Small trader joes location. Pretty well stocked but I just feel a bit cramped in here. Lots of people frequent this location and the parking area is kind of crowded. Right off Manhattan blvd. so it will be crazy getting in and out. Staff is sweet at all locations and very helpful. read more

I go here for the amazing: chocolate covered peppermint sticks, sourdough bread loafs, per-sliced pepper jack cheese, amazing spinach cheese ravioli, potato and lintel chips, per-seasoned Tri-Tip, and chicken. Avoid the moldy fruit. Parking may look bad, but so far I've always end up getting a parking spot. read more

The people who work here are super duper nice & helpful and that is why I keep coming back despite the awful parking lot. I have actually seen more than 3 accidents and sometimes people back into cars and just drive off . The store is smaller than others but set up well and it makes it easy to find and get whatever I need. So I'm a regular (at least until my car gets hit). read more

Every time I've come here the chasers work as fast as they can to check me out. Unlike at Vons or other places where they don't care. The store is always clean and the employees are helpful when I ask questions. The parking can be hard since the lot is small, but it doesn't stop me from coming. read more

I absolutely love this place. It's really easy to get in and out of and the employees are always nice and helpful! The lines are usually pretty short, and they open more up as soon as they get long. I've never had to wait more than 5 minutes in one. They also tend to have desserty samples if you come by close to their closing time, which is awesome. Sometimes parking can be annoying, but if you come during non-peak times it's no big deal. I HIGHLY recommend this place for most things--fruit, veggies, eggs, milk, etc. As a vegetarian they also have lots of clearly marked veggie (and vegan) friendly things! read more

I have never experienced such great customer service as I have last night from TJ's employee Nick. I did not catch his last name, but he was blonde, average height, and very friendly-- He worked the night shift at the register Wed, Feb 3rd. Not only did he express great interest in every customer that he encountered, but his friendly demeanor and hard work ethic gave great representation to the entire entity that Trader Joe's is. Another can't live without business. This is where we do our grocery shopping except for Costco. Hardly go to the big supa's except if there is something TJ's doesn't have or I forgot something and I am in the middle of cooking. The prices and quality of the food is so much better at TJ's. There return policy rocks, think Nordstrom or REI, no ?'s asked. Only problem is parking and when they are out of something or even worse discontinue a product. Each store orders themselves so the selection and quantity available varies by store. read more

Good prices, nice people, healthy food. That's Trader Joes, generally, and it is true here as well. But I am putting 2 stars here to drag down the average, because the partking situation at this particular Trader Joes is abysmal, as some others have mentioned in their reviews. The cars waiting in traffic do provide nice cover for parallel parking on the street just beyond the entrance. But if you parallel park and forget to feed the parking meter, you can be assured of a parking fine of $48.00, within minutes. Update to previous post (12/12/2014 update): It seems that this Trader Joes has implemented some better quality controls. The food seems to be fresher or at least not as rotten as before. Therefore, I increased the rating from a one to a three star. This location consistently sells rotten produce. Additionally, my orange juice container almost exploded well before the expiration date - similar to a can with botulism. What are we in a 3rd world country? I'll be going elsewhere for anything I need fresh. read more

I wanted to update my review after speaking with management. I appreciate that they followed up with me with a phone call in less than a week following the incident. I was informed that the situation wasn't handled in a way that Trader Joe's supports or encourages. I conveyed to management that my concern was that the staff in the store be adequately trained to handle customer service in a fair way especially when encountered with customers who may be classist or racist. I am increasing my rating because of how management stepped in immediately and assured me that the employees would be educated in handling situations of this nature so they feel empowered in an tough situations and not find themselves in there middle of a bad situation with someone who isn't do diplomatic. I'm not giving it a higher rating because diversity training should be a given and an employee should never think they'll lose their job for doing the right thing for a customer based on the color of their skin, because this was the only reason he even called a manager when he clearly knew that I was first. I still can't bring myself to go back to this store and am not sure if I'll ever desire to do so. Every day that I pass it, I still feel the ache in the pit of my stomach that came from the pure ugliness of the situation that day. My hope is that nobody else ever experiences such a situation here or anywhere. read more

Nothing to do with the store itself but the miniscule parking lot which can back up traffic on the main street. There is street parking with meters that now take credit cards, but really i don't think paying for parking at a market is normal. Doesn't help that if you do find parking that people blow at fitting their cars within the lines. read more

This is the best grocery store in the entire state. I know it sounds really far stretched but honestly this store is amazing. They have the kindest, nicest, and most helpful employees. They are all so easy to make friends with and are so sweet. I can't believe anyone would go to a different store. Trader joes is the best, the pack in some known brands but that's their whole thing. Instead of Oreos they have a substitute that tastes like them. The food there is better, cheaper, and more high quality then anywhere else and I highly recommend this store. Everyone should feel welcome and invited. They also have tasters or samples of foods they serve. This can introduce foods that you haven't bought before and you fall in love with. They also give out candy to the kids who find the 'dolphin' that's hidden in the store. It's different everyday! It also gets seasonal items like egg nog, peanut butter chips, and the most amazing fresh farm squeezed apple cider. This is the best trader joes around and undoubtedly the most friendly. I've made friends with some employees here and you would too! They even serve these delectable apple cider samples in fall and winter.
