Clean and the variety is phenomenal. We got chicken fajitas and chicken al pastor. Absolutely fantastic. Our guests loved them. They make fresh guacamole and we bought the spicy one. The chips are made there and they are are thicker and crunchier. I thought they were okay but some folks loved them. Where they nail it is the tortillas. House made there and they are out of this world. More texture and taste than store bought. Loved them. I liked the big assortment of refried beans in cans or packages. We tried the El Salvadorian red beans and I really enjoyed them. Good change of pace. Everyone is friendly and helpful. I bought a bean and cheese burrito on the way out in the food service area. Seemed a tad bit disorganized and slow. Good burrito though.

The food court is spectacular with great food and prices. The tamales are a 9/10! Super delicious. Sad to see the meat is nowhere near the rest of the departments.

They have a nice bakery, hot food section, deli, salad bar, wine bar, and meat/fish counter. There is a huge gourmet cheese selection - literally any cheese you may want (cow's milk, goat, sheep) from nearly any country, they seem to have it! They often offer samples (if I remember correctly, if you want to try a particular cheese, they will give you a sample of it)! There are soups, sandwiches, salads, and other hot foods like mac n cheese. The quality of the meats is great! Everything is very fresh and well-maintained. The produce is very fresh too! Although many of these products are higher-priced, their other grocery items (i.e. canned/boxed/bottled/frozen foods) are much surprisingly cheaper than other grocery stores. The store is consistently clean and organized. The store hasn't been updated/remodeled but it still has a timeless design that looks very neat. The staff members are very friendly and will quickly help you whenever needed. The store is never busy and you will rarely have to wait in line. I was unimpressed by this one. As soon as you enter this store, you are met with a very unpleasant, almost rancid, smell. I couldn't quite place my finger on what the smell was, but it was definitely not something you want to smell when you enter a place that sells food. We checked out the produce and meat sections first. The fruits and vegetables seemed fresh. The meat section, however, was a bit concerning. All of the plastic bins where the large cuts of meat were stored were filled with meat juices. Although the refrigerated section was cold, I was still a little concerned about the sanitation. Unless you are truly buying in bulk for a restaurant or event setting, the prices are very comparable, if not more expensive, than other grocery stores like WinCo. The smaller bag of potatoes, for example, was significantly more expensive than the same size bag at Costco. The giant bag of potatoes though, was very cheap in comparison. They definitely have a great variety of items that your typical grocery won't carry though. A lot of the items are unique. The sheer amount of drink/cafe syrups was astounding. They have every single thing you may need for a restaurant from take-out containers to sauce and jelly packets. I am not familiar with the pricing of these items, but this seems like a convenient place to buy them.

I came in looking for something specific to which she told me it was only a seasonal item for the summer. I love shopping at Trader Joe's for food but also used to come SEVERAL times a week to check out what orchids came in that day. This location used to have a great selection but the person ordering only gets Phalenopsis NEVER the Assortment! Trader Joe's all over the US is known for a good place to get orchids for a reasonable price. Modesto is NOT worth it. Drive to Stockton or Livermore. read more

This is a warning for people that buys at this store. There are thieves working in combination to steal wallets and purses from females by talking to them to distract them. These thieves are taking advantage of the store not having security cameras. Be aware of the people around you. read more

Walking in and seeing all the seasonal displays at the front of the store made shopping exciting, and I could almost always find something special for birthdays, holidays, or little surprises. Over the past year or so, it feels like the store has changed quite a bit. The kids' section is much smaller, there are fewer home and gift items, and it just doesn't seem to have the same treasure-hunt feeling it once had. I've noticed the selection isn't as unique as it used to be, and several of my mom friends have mentioned the same thing. One friend even stopped shopping there altogether because she felt they no longer carry the kinds of products that made Grocery Outlet so fun and different. Another thing many of us really miss is the monthly receipt drawing they used to do. You could write your name and phone number on your receipt, and at the end of the month they would draw a winner who received a gift card for the amount of their receipt. It was such a fun promotion that got the community excited and made shopping there feel a little more special. People genuinely looked forward to it. When the new owners took over, that promotion disappeared, and it feels like a lot of the little things that made this Grocery Outlet unique disappeared too. The staff has always been friendly, and I truly want to see the store succeed. I just miss the variety, the seasonal displays, the fun promotions, and the family-friendly shopping experience that made it such a special place to visit. It used to feel like every trip was an adventure... now it feels more like just another grocery store. I hope they consider bringing back more of the fun finds, gift items, home décor, toys, seasonal products, and community-focused promotions that so many of us loved.

NOW AFTER A " remodel " THE NEW LAYOUT SEEMS INCONSISTENT, random , it seems to have been designed by AI ........ random and inconsistent.... Not enough to make a complete meal you will stop at another store to get the last of your ingredients because this place don't have regular items it has discounted randomly placed ingredients. Kinda like AI MADE SOME FLOOR PLANS UP AND THE NEW OWNERS THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA IDK , after years of shopping here I told myself yesterday this is ridiculous and enough for me to just buy at any other store with a regular floor plan .

My first two shopping trips it felt like the old Raley's. Everyone was friendly and I was able to find what I needed easily. This evening I came in and felt like a criminal. The security guard was following me through the store as well as an associate. I tried to not over think it and continued my shopping. I proceeded to use self check out, scanned all of my items, paid for my goods and began to leave the self checkout area. The self check out cashier was starring me down like I didnt pay, looking me up and down as well as my cart. I still smiled and spoke first, saying thank you and have a good evening. The cashier maintained her demeanor, no smile, no have a good evening, no thank you for shopping with us. As I continued to the door the security guard was standing near the exit and at least he spoke and said have a good one! With cost of living continuing to rise you would think these associates would at the very minimum be polite. No one has to shop Raley's. There is plenty of cheaper options. I also understand that people steal at an alarming rate but if that's how a paying customer is treated, I will stick to Safeway. Raley's needs to really train their employees on customer service. People shouldn't walk out feeling upset or profiled. Especially, since the cashier was older, she definitely knows better. I won't be returning and neither will my family. If I could give a zero I would. No personality, no service, not even a thanks from the self checkout cashier or the associates that passed while I was shopping. I will give 100% gratitude to the lady in the deli department as always she was kind and friendly. I also included my receipt. Which also reflects I spend quite a bit of money there based off my discounts. Also, the aisle with all the individual cold drinks is filthy. The shelves are sticky and when you grab a red bull the bottoms of the cans are so dirty. Im talking debris, stuck to the shelf, and sticky. Do better !
