Best Trader Joe's in the world. I consider myself a TJ connoisseur, and this one is huge, the parking lot is (relatively) massive, staff is amazing, great samples- always make an excuse to come here. In this era (and yes it is an era rather than just a week or a month or months...a year, years maybe) of our Pandemic this TJ's unit is pretty much the place to go if you are in any way afraid, trepadicious about going out and buying foodstuffs. By this i mean, say what you will about Montrosians, they follow orders. Glendale powers that be mandate is to wear masks and you will find everywhere in Montrose people are wearing Masks. I wear a mask and gloves and if i could a Hazmat suit. In any event i was here today, waited in a well organized line and did some major TJ's shopping. Whereas in Glendale, there are some people who just don't "get" the times we are in. I mean: people are dying because they are being infected by those who do not observe social distancing as well as wearing face coverings. Why is this so complicated for some people to understand? OK, i digress...as usual. Shopping here today was easy,quick, shelves are stocked with all the essentials: wine, liquor, toilet paper, paper towels, IPA's, Oh yeah: trader Joe units are overall always in stock. This in itself a big fat accomplishment. Have you been to a Vons or Ralphs lately? Today this Montrose TJ's had and almost always has their game together and during this Pandemic this is not a little thing...so many rules to follow. So few blocks for us to maneuver in order to shop. TJ's is smart enough to understand if we, their customers get sick and worse they will lose. The Montrose TJ's is one step removed from the unit in Glendale: not better, not more organized...just different based on the clientele. There are still the same amount of Crazies, though. Love the way my local Trader Joe's has been handling the store during the Covid 19 pandemic. The staff have been extra amazing and attentive here, they have always been very friendly. Last time I visited a staff member was playing guitar for those waiting in line, they were passing out cold bottled water and a gentleman even helped me load my groceries in the car. All of them are very professional and it's excellent that they have you sanitize your hand and give you a wipe for your cart as you walk in. So thankful for all they do! read more

If you visit this location you can find additional parking on any residential street near the location Trader Joe's employees park in front of my apartment everyday and every night despite calling and asking politely there are 4 or 5 vehicles in front of my apartment but I'll find somewhere else to park Good times read more

Stood in line for 30 minutes to get into the store, and IT WAS WORTH IT. I appreciate how serious they are about keeping us (and their staff) safe and healthy. They gave out bottles of cold water while I was in line (thank you), and once I got inside it was cool and not crowded. They had everything I needed. The staff was polite and friendly. Yes, the parking lot can be crowded, but so what? Find me a parking lot that never gets crowded! This is my favorite Trader Joe's and I feel fine about waiting to get in while we're dealing with the Covid-19 situation. read more

Given that I work in this area, I couldn't exactly get to this place in time enough to be the first to review like I would have liked to have been, but I digress.... Parking is a complete disaster. In fact, I walked and I work closer to the 2 on ramp at Verdugo. People really need to learn how to drive. When its a grand opening anything, it doesn't mean honk at everyone that you can thinking that it will get you into the parking lot faster. Please, people, please. I had a hard time walking to get to the front door due to the traffic, but I didn't start screaming at everyone.... The inside is great. I try to imagine it without the zillions of people that were there today. I love their signs, in fact, they remind me a lot of Sprouts and their design. Much, much similar. I really wasn't all that impressed to be honest. Again, I take into consideration that it wasn't exactly an ideal time to visit since it was the first day of opening. All the same stuff as all stores, except this place is bigger than most, and of course, cleaner. Very nice workers, in fact, I think they were a little over excited and happy, not a bad thing though. They have a line specifically for 12 items or less, woot! Except for the fact that the lady in front of me, indeed, obvi didn't read the sign and had a basket full of crap. That made the line completely pointless. Check out lady gave me my TJ bag for free since they were giving the 99 cent ones away for free due to grand opening. That was super nice of her. I was sad that I wasn't there to get a complimentary lei. I will definitely try this location again. Why wouldn't I? It's in an ideal location, although I doubt Sons of Anarchy will be filming in the area much more due to the immense traffic. There goes my lust for and desire to meet Charlie Hunnam. read more

Its TJs. Arrived off hour so parking not issue. But this tj is located in a very charming area. As far as their offerings in comparison to the other TJs, same! Yay! Love consistency! Wider isles than the typical TJs. The fair is fresh and abundant as always. The exception is the vibes. This one has the chipper lightness in the staff. Welcome surprise. I came here on a Saturday evening about an hour before closing and there was ample parking. The staff is so nice. I felt like everyone in the store greeted me as if I stepped foot into some broadway musical. I was gleefully strolling through the aisles enamored with anything and everything that looked "good." I was just throwing things in my cart as if I was in some hunger haze. I feel like this location had more items in stock than other Trader Joe's in the area. The only thing I didn't find were the "Everything but the bagel" chiabatta rolls. But then again, I haven't seen them recently at other locations so sadly they might be for a limited time only. read more

The people working there are rude, & nasty specially toward older people & I was disrespected by one of their so called Managers who later lied about the whole situation & NOW after I sent them an e-mail complaining their rude answer was DO NOT SHOP AT THIS STORE. That is what I got in return for my complaint. I just turned 71 on April 2nd & all I wanted to shop was eggs & dry Mango & since I am also retired on Disability they would not let me go in because I didn't get there in time for the older folks. This is a great Trader Joe's. It's clean, organized, fresh, the the workers are all very friendly (except this one older asian lady that never looks very happy and moves as slow as molasses on a cold day. I just avoid going to her line if she is in the check out, or asking her any questions if she is stalking the shelves). They are always serving samples, and the coffee is always quickly replenished if they run out. I love shopping at Trader Joes and this is typically a weekly stop for me. So many great items to try out! My one suggestion is that they should offer animal crackers by the sample station for kids. The Trader Joe's in Pasadena (on Lake and Del Mar) always had animal crackers that you could ask for. My son use to love it. I did ask at this location once, and they just looked at me with confusion and said that they don't do that. Luckily my son forgot that was a thing at the other location, so he doesn't ask anymore. However, if anyone at TJ's is reading this, I highly suggest you add this to the area. Kids love it! Regardless, I'll still remain a loyal customer! read more

What can you say about Trader Joe's? I have yet to meet a person who when discussing Trader Joe's has anything negative to say about them. I am in the same frame of mind. Not only do they entice us with a wonderful selection off foods and goodies which evolve over time, but their customer service is the best! They always seem to have something for everyone, which is certainly difficult to accomplish. I was at this site today right after lunch to pick up a couple of exotic items that the Trader always has in stock. I was immediately helped by the front door greeter who put me with another employee and within seconds had the exotic items that I was there to obtain. And this in spite of the store being busy with people packing the store-as is typical. I was in and out in just minutes and on my way. Thanks to the young men and women that work here and somehow keep the service and positive attitude going at all times, in spite of some of the rude local clientele shopping in this store which have that entitled bad attitude which apparently comes with being wealthy. read more

Just sear and finish it off in the oven - Very Green Juice & Organic Carrot Juice - I've been trying to juice more and these are very reliable juices that will not make your tastebuds cringe, promise. - Greek-style Honey Yogurt - add fruits (blueberries), it's amazing. - Charles Shaw - my household staple and the finest wine in all the land, ha. This is a nice Trader Joe's on the larger side with a rustic woodsy exterior that reflects the charming area where it's located- a quaint foothill village outside of LA known as Montrose. While it is farther away than the TJs I normally frequent, I may make the trek over here more often due to a better variety of food/snack/everyday items and friendly workers. I went around 8 p.m. on a Sunday and there were plenty of open parking spots, and the lot is pretty generous. I picked up several of my favorite staples (matcha green tea mochi!) and a few new finds (tomato basil hummus!)- I am looking forward to when they roll out all of their new fall items- pumpkin everything! Trader Joe in La Crescenta on Foothill Blvd., you left us high & dry and moved to Montrose 4 miles away. You were the greatest neighborhood specialty market, and were there since at least 1978, and may have been store #2 under the stewardship of the original Joe Coulombe. Four miles is not astronomically far away, but you're no longer the short hop, skip, & jump away, but I still like you, Trader Joe's, since you cater to us Liberal Arts graduate crowd in that we have Champagne tastes, but have only Vin Mousseux budgets. TJ's capitalizes on this by having buyers go around the world to find interesting, sophisticated comestibles & libations but obtains them from manufactures & producers that are able to discount their price. TJ's passes on some of the discount to the customer. One drawback is that some of the the labels are not around for long since when the discount or run ends, it no longer stocks them. The buyers seem knowledgeable about the foods they procure & certainly taste tests them with collegues to make sure the product is flavourful enough. Rarely do you find products at TJ's that are found in the regular superchain grocery stores. I like the way TJ's creates its own unique niche which no other store seems to be able to copy. Joe Coulombe seems to have established a paradigm of stocking good tasting, interesting, reasonably priced foods & libations not found in most other stores. The West German firm that now owns TJ's is wise in adhereing to the astute marketing strategies set up by the Original Joe. The only thing that I have noticed lately is a subtle one. The workers don't seem quite as happy as before. The crew at the old La Crescenta store of yore seemed more content & outgoing. Maybe it's my imagination, but with the advent of the Great Recession of 2008, has the number of staff been lowered, and the remaining employees made to do more work to compensate for the lack of more help? Hopefully, that is not the case. read more

Welcome the new Trader Joes! With it's expansive sections of cheese, wine and vegetables, this is sure to be a very popular Trader Joes. I went for the grand opening ceremonies in which a couple of council members said some words, they cut a lei and everyone started to rush in. They gave leis to everyone who walked in and had a steel drum band playing. It was really neat to see the excitement for the new location. The building is very nice, and large, they did a good job of blending it in with the surrounding area. Before, this used to be an abandoned car lot and now it is a beautiful area with trees and activity. This is literally walking/riding distance from my house, so this will be my new Trader Joes! My husband and I are very excited and look forward to getting our weekly eats here. read more

I can certainly declare that she is the nicest, kindest, most attentive, generous trader joes staff member I've ever met...and I sure have been to a lot of locations! She goes out of her way to find me the items that I'm looking for and advise me to try new ones...and every time I try one of her suggestions, I'm hooked. Her customer service skills are so superior and always excellent, I personally feel like I'm at home. What really impressed me about her service is that when i came the second time to this location, she knew my name!!! Doesn't everyone like a new Trader Joe's in their neighborhood? So, first things first, the parking lot is tiny. There is a parking attendant that will guide you into a parking spot. However, it did not take us very long to find a spot with that person's help. This market was quite packed on a Saturday afternoon. We bought so much stuff from this store. Trader Joe's has so much good convenient food products such as peeled hard boiled eggs, specialty cheeses, snacks, etc. The best part about this store has got to be the friendly staff. Various staff were helping us locate food around the store as well as the great people at the cash registers. I also loved the food samples throughout the store including some delicious parmesan cheese. read more

How can you go wrong with Trader Joes? The hometown feel the place gives you with super knowledgable staff members. Gotta love the items you can only find here like Cookie Butter, Maple Leaf Cookies, Charles Shaw, Blueberry and vanilla goats milk cheese, TJ Pizza Dough and TJ Orange Chicken....the list goes on and on for items you can only find here. The prices are reasonable also. If you haven't gone to a trader joes yet, then I may look at you like you're not of this planet. The only thing that's holding this place back from a 5 star rating is that TJ locations need to be bigger. I'm sorry, but these places are so popular and hold only a small amount of people before you start slamming your cart into others in the aisles. I love the TJ shops and have been a loyal customer for the past 20 years. Our store was ROBBED AT GUNPOINT last weekend and there is no video footage for the police to do their work. After a brief web search it seems that the TJ stores were and continue to be a lucrative target for robbers exactly due to the No Cameras policy. As a customer I am now extremely appalled by the inaction of the TJ management to install cameras after the robberies from 5-6 years ago and now the history repeats itself. Should I fear another wave of robberies once the dust settles? My apologies for this outburst; inaction does nothing seem to be the right policy. read more

In this age of COVID-19 and all our shared concerns, Trader Joe's Montrose deserves high praise for their management and handling of their customers. More than any other store, they have all new processes and rules and signage in place to let everyone know what to expect. I was given an anti-bacterial wipe when I walked in. They limit number of shoppers with an attendant. I got an apology from my cashier! We're all in this together, and while there are plenty of temptations for uh... bad behavior... I LOVE TJs. I love the daily samples they have. The employees are very nice and helpful. I had forgotten one of my grocery items last week that I had paid for. I went in today as I was shopping and asked if I can take a bottle of Pellegrino I had paid for and forgotten there. They trusted me without a receipt and told me I can take it. Hands down the best and biggest TJ I ever visited! It has not one, but TWO sampling stations!!! They have a huge variety of items, from foods, to gifts, to beverages! I large selection! Their staff is also quite helpful and friendly and will go out of their way to help you in any way! Parking can be a bit tricky even though they have thier own lot, but you can park across the street or on the streets. This location is ok. It looks larger from the outside than it actually is, and the selection is the same as most other Trader Joes in the valley. What I reaaaally despise about this place is the tiny postage stamp size parking lot. I come here so often I've practically moved in. I love this Trader Joe's and I'm so glad they moved here from their tiny location on Foothill. 97% of what I eat comes from TJ's and I am crazy about all of their new and interesting snacks they come out with all the time. I just wish they would do something about the abysmally small parking lot! Don't dare stop by on a Sunday, unless you enjoy being in car purgatory. There's just no escaping it! My advice? Just pick another day, any day will do. Just. Not. Sunday. Whether you're coming for Two Buck Chuck, your weekly produce run, or simply perusing their beer offerings for something new, Trader Joe's is a recurring stop for me in this journey we call life. read more
