With all of the gimmicks employed by the big 3 on specials and club pricing it is really nice to shop TJ's knowing the product is judged BEFORE it gets to the shelf. Always a terrific product for a fair if not better price than similar items elsewhere. TJ's is da bomb! read more

This isn't the best Trader Joe's. Firstly loud bad music blaring in the store making me not want to shop there--other Trader Joe's will either have that horrible noise off or will only have it at the door entrance and not inside. Then when I go in line, the place has supposed express lines for less items, but they let people with over 20 items go in them so it's functionally that they have no express lines. So I'm stuck waiting with bad music blaring making my wait miserable so I can't just space out like I could if they had it off. And then finally I see they don't give bags for free anymore and charge--this is months before the horrible state law goes into effect and Trader Joe's always did paper bags and didn't used to charge 10 cents for what costs then far less than a penny for a supermarket to buy. read more

We usually hit up this Trader Joe's when we are in the area to grab a few bottles of wine. They have some great Napa wines with the Trader Joe's label that you can only find in Napa, and once they sell out they are gone forever, so if you love it stock up! The staff was very knowledgeable about their wine selection and gave us some good tips and recommendations. read more

Who doesn't love Trader Joe's?! Of course their parking lots are always a nightmare, but the actual store isn't. The layout of this particular store is a little strange to say the least, but it most work for them or they wouldn't have it that way. Everything was pretty well stocked considering it was a three day weekend when we went. The staff seems a lil stand off ish and privileged/entitled. But willing to help once you approached them. However our cashier!!! Oh boy! She is a gem!!! Outstanding container service!! She seems like she's always up for a challenge! Our cart was overbearingly full, as our fridge went out the day before and we lost all our food. We were standing in line, Ivy, our amazing cashier, approached us and let us know her lane was open if we wanted to be helped right away. I said "are you sure?! Are you ready for this?!" She very optimistically said "oh yeah! I'm ready I saw you guys prepared myself and walked over here!" She was just so friendly and easy to talk to! Ivy had an incredible personally and customer service skills. This girl rung us up super quick and held a conversation the whole time! I helped her bag and she put my bags in my cart. We made a real honest customer connection! Starbucks trained her well. Lol oh, and also I accidentally left one of my bags in her register, and she ran all the way out to catch us and give it to us!! Who does that?!?! Only people who truly love what they do!! This girl needs a raise for all her hard work. Being a cashier at Trader Joe's is not always the easiest, but she makes it seems like it's a breeze! Thank you Ivy for all your help and advice! I normally don't wright a review for a grocery stores, since it's just...a grocery store. But Trader Joes is definitely not your average store. The staff is friendly, and the bananas are 19 cents each! 19cent!! They have items you can't find in normal grocery stores like wild rice, vegan butter, and good selection of dip and alcohol :) Definitely coming back. read more

The Napa Trader Joe's is a very good grocery store. Excellent selection of food with an A+ for a very simple item, Pizza Dough. Homemade Pizza is so easy to make, and fortunately, can buy all the other ingredients there: their homemade pizza sauce, mozzarella, mushroom, and extra garlic. What else do you need? I've been shopping at Trader Joe's for years and I love the chain. The Joe's in Napa isn't too much different than other Joe's I've gone to in Marin and the East Bay. Has the usual Trader Joe's perks - good food choices that are healthy and affordable. On the downside, the Napa Joe's seems to run out of products I like very quickly and it takes them a longtime to restock. They're also in a large mall surrounded by Target, Cost Plus and Whole Foods so finding a good parking spot can be tough. The mall gets crowded and traffic is slow moving in and around the area. I've noticed that Joe's is also raising their prices lately so some things aren't worth buying there anymore but I enjoy shopping there at least 2 or 3 times a month. read more

I lovr their frozen macarons. The vanilla & chocolate ones are awesome! $5 for 12 mini macarons--way cheaper than costco. The only reason why I'm giving thus place 3 stars because of the lack of diversity of the people who shopped there. I've been to this trader joe's a few times and I always find myself to be the only other asian there besides my mother (who comes with me). Sometimes, the atmosphere just feels different, especially with how people say "excuse me", and kind of ignore that you exist there. Also, yesterday, the cashier guy wasn't as energetic when charging our stuff compared to the person before and after us. We weren't offered a bag for our items--I'm not sure if Trader Joe's charges for bags now, but we literally had to put all our stuff on the cart without any bags. My mother, being a much older Asian, was offended because everyone else had bags for their groceries and if we needed to pay for one, we were willing to pay for one. read more

Been coming to this local market for a few years. Customer experience has been hit or miss between pleasant & abusive depending on who is working. My last visit experience was bad enough that I feel I have to forewarn other potential customers who are of Asian descent. This includes Indians. Make no mistake they will let you know that you are not welcome in "their" store & treat you dismissively like your a thief for absolutely no reason. Boggles my mind how Trader Joe's allows this type of unfriendly unwelcoming behavior that could get them sued for discrimination. Unfortunate. read more

I really like this TJ's. I love that they have a water and dog treat bowl outside for your four legged friends. I also like their extensive flower selection, a lot more than other TJ's. I also like that its a couple doors down from Peet's and Whole Foods. The peeps that work here are super nice and friendly. They always seem to keep everything stocked up too. Surprisingly low prices - certainly not what you would expect from the level of quality that is Trader Joe's. Whole Foods has just popped up next to Trader Joe's recently and I choose to continue going to Trader Joe's in support of their unique stock and & affordable prices. Some things to note: The 6 packs of Simpler Times/Red Oval beers less than $4.00 are excellent buys. Their brand name frozen foods are delicious (Pizza - Mushroom Turnovers!) and always be sure to get some free samples in the back. I also find that their walnuts are a LOT cheaper than anywhere else I've seen and their consideration for the vegan diet are respectable. Everyone that I know personally becomes hooked on Trader Joe's the first time they go - and I know you will too. At first, most expect Trader Joe's to be a bit more expensive with their exclusive brands and taste for natural foods - but they end up being more affordable than any other grocery store and Napa - with a great selection to boot. Try TJ's the next time you make a round of grocery shopping. read more

It is very fortunate to have this small Trader Joe's in Napa. It offers a diverse selection of staples, ethnic ingredients, meat and produce at a reasonable value compared to Whole Foods. You can also count on staff for a good attitude, answers to questions or to check stock. I can often get all of my shopping done here for the week in 30 minutes if I go on weekdays. There is always something new being introduced while regular favorites can be counted upon. The weekends are too crazy with the crowd in such a small space and parking is horrible given the popularity of the shopping center. So I look forward to the day TJ's moves to a larger space, two vacancies in the immediate area come to mind. read more

I love that there are so many employees that still work there from the beginning, years ago now. They know my whole family by site and some by our names. The day TJ's came to Napa, my life changed. I used to drive to Fairfield or Walnut Creek about once a month and take along an ice chest. The bill was always $300.00+. My love affair began in the cheese department.; what selection and FABULOUS prices. Busy? Yes! If that bothers you, try to go in the early afternoon or AM. The place is generally packed from 4-6PM. I do about 95% of my grocery shopping there. The staff is very friendly and will gladly check for items in the back room. Some of my favorites: artichoke lemon pesto (deli case), Fage Greek yogurt, TJ's frozen pizza Margarita, frozen artichokes, jarred peppers and olives, the entire bread department, and terrific selection of sausages. I love Trader Joe's! I am from IL...where there are only 2 Trader Joe's and they are 3 hours away from me... so when I visited CA I was amazed at how many there were out there. I think I stopped at one once a day while on our trip. The Napa Trader Joe's was very crowded, and had terrible parking, but was still just like the rest. I stopped there to pick up some bottles of wine to bring home to "not so good friends", and they were able to satisify my needs. Nice selection!! I wish I could go back!! read more

Really the only place I can afford to shop for my children, and good quality food. I love the bulked bagged apples, very fresh. High selection of fruits and vegetables at great prices. For moms who are always running out of peanut butter, bread, milk and eggs, this is the place to shop. I'm seriously obsessed with Trader Joes, who isn't. They have healthy foods at a very reasonable price. Always have samples, that i usually end up buying what they are sampling that day, great way to sell their products. I love their produce, always fresh and tasty, i love their dried fruit and nuts, pita chips and frozen selection of yummy goodness. Good wine selection, i get the Blue Fin Pinot Noir, which is only like 3$, hell yay, can't go wrong with that price. I give TJ a five because I really like their selections and their prices. I usually end up paying half of what I pay at another grocery. There's just one small quibble, not worth lowering the rating for though. They used to have really good green salads, especially the Greek or Caesar salads that consisted entirely of veggies. Lately I've noticed that it's really difficult to find any salad that does not include chicken. I find this rather annoying because I'm one of those people that just wants a salad to be veggies only. The last time I was looking for a veggie salad I gave up in disgust. Please TJ, a little lighter on the chicken in salads. read more

Watch out for two smug, incompetent members of staff. Sorry about the long post, but it's hard to condense so much moronic behavior into a short review. My family and I have been loyal to Trader Joe's for over 20 years, (beginning when we were living in Southern California) and have never had a negative experience until today, at around 5:00 P.M., when I dropped my mother off at the Trader Joe's in Napa, so she could do her weekly shopping. On coming back to pick her up, I found a packed store, and two members of staff who refused to apologize and/or rectify what started as an understandable mistake on their part: a cashier (red-haired, middle aged female, and yes, I know I'm an idiot for not checking their names, but I was listening to my mother's and other customers' account of the situation) had just moved my 85-year-old mother's very full shopping cart, from one cash register (I believe it was the 3rd from the main entrance) to another (the last register, by the liquor section) and stated that she was doing so because the original cash register was malfunctioning. My mother was first in line then, and logically should be still first at the new checkout. The problem was that the cashier got distracted by two other customers (who were not on the checkout line, they simply were asking questions), and, after answering their questions, she pushed my mother's cart back from the 1st to dead last place in the checkout line, giving priority to three other shoppers who'd had just shown up at the checkout, (again, not the ones who'd stopped her to answer their questions). My mother asked the cashier why she'd done so, but received no answer, and we spoke with a supervisor (a white haired man with a thick mustache), who immediately told my mother to "tell me something good" (well, on case you're reading this, sir, let me give you some staggering news: customers are not there to entertain you) and after listening to my mother's account, he continued joking, and saying the cashier decided to ignore my mother because "you're too short" (staggering news #2: it's called Osteoporosis, look it up before making an infantile joke out of a serious medical condition, and a 5' tall person is still generally considered to be visible, especially since you and your cashier friend are clearly less than 6' tall ). When he asked the cashier for a confirmation that she had moved my mother's cart from being first in line, to last, the cashier said "oooh yeah", no explanation, no apology, and the male supervisor looked at the other registers, told my mother "you'll forget all about it tomorrow", then walked out. I followed him, and kept saying "excuse me", but was ignored and he vanished towards the back of the store (I'm 5'8" and other people turned around, so they saw and heard me). I saw there were two closed cash registers and was going to ask him if the other closed cash register was also broken, because if functional, someone could finally ring my mother's purchases). A lady in front of my mother, and a gentleman on the next checkout line expressed their shock at the staff's reaction and offered to let her go first, but that left both lines still with people and their full carts ahead, and my mother wasn't inclined to reward Trader Joe's for hiring two sloppy, unprofessional people, who never offered at least an apology, and need to learn how to handle a crowded store, so she left the line, advised a passing clerk that she was leaving the full cart behind and not coming back to Trader Joe's of Napa anytime soon. read more

I can't even imagine living in a town without a TJ to do my groceries. 97% of their products are good, delicious made from healthy ingredients & they guaranteed their products!
