Went grocery shopping on my lunch break and had my wallet stolen out of my cart. No cameras in the store and couldn't find the security guard in the parking lot. I was told to retrace my steps in the store...or to look in my car... My coworker also had his laptop stolen out of his car. I shouldn't have been so trusting but just be careful- seems like some shady characters are lurking around the Milpas TJs. read more

This new Milpas SB Trader Joe's is one of the biggest trader Joe's units I have ever been in. And I have been in a lot: from Portland to Nyc. All of the sections / food categories are jam packed with old favorites as well as new stuff. Cauliflower pizza crusts ready to top with sauce and such : totally gluten free for those interested. And for those not interested an at least interesting way to make a home pizza eschewing all the carbs associated with that old devil wheat. I honestly didn't get a chance nor was I interested in touring the entire store hut give me time. On the people watching front . There were several of the regulars in attendance. People you will find at any TJ'S anywhere! I saw the slim women with a basket full of fresh produce who probably has not eaten a burger since 1967. There was the dude who asked 1000 questions of a clerk about non gluten items and then bought 4 big fat wheat based baquettes. There was an "alternative " man : I guess some would call a hipster wearing his hipster drag , salt and pepper beard down to his groin, trolling the beer section looking for the most obscure variety available looking bored, so bored. We were all treated with respect and interest by the tj's peeps. I love Trader Joe's I really do. My mission today was to buy Wine, Vino, Vinito! And buy wine and champs I did indeed. There are wines here that I have not seen in any other TJ'S that I usually shop. The service was primo as usual And our Cashier, Luis was fun. read more

Is there such thing as being too friendly?? I think so and almost wanted to deduct a star....but seriously, these people are so welcoming and conversational, I don't know if they are incentivized to do so or give out customer service awards or what but the high employee morale is notable and makes shopping there a step above. New location is way better too. read more

Thank you TJ's Milpas for getting your parking lot security guy to stop wearing his Covid mask pulled down, not covering his nose as he chatted to staff and customers. Last time I visited he was wearing it properly when he addressed customers! Apart from this, TJs has always been great for service, and for convenience foods. Santa Barbara Milpas Trader Joe's is the best! Easy parking! Great customer service, every time I have come here without fail I get greeted as soon as I walk in and I'm constantly asked while I'm shopping if I need help find anything. They really did hire the best of the best at this location I have never had a bad experience here. Check out is always fun getting to talk to the fun and happy checkers. A Trader Joe's is a Trader Joe's there are plenty everywhere but I would definitely choose this place over any other for the great people who work there. read more

Love the new Milpas location! I have several memories of frequenting the "old" TJs a few blocks down and feeling positively claustrophobic over both the cramped parking lot and the stifling interior layout. When the store moved to its current location, I was delighted to see that both of these issues had been improved upon. Walking in, you will notice that the layout is much the same as most other TJs out there - however, the aisles and checkstands have been severely widened which aids to a more positive customer experience. Though this store does not carry all of what you'd find at a grocery store, I've come to enjoy the array of artisan and locally-sourced goods at rather affordable prices. This is a place where you can come in to pick up a quick gift or full-on shop. Good customer service, too! I look forward to coming back here soon. read more

Honestly, I've never been to a Trader Joe's that I'd write a poor of. But this one is really great. I don't feel like I'm in a bumper car rink in this parking lot! It's never been out of my favorite cheese! The staff are always smiling and look like they're having fun at work. They always seem to have something new in addition to my weekly staples. I love the new location. I really wish they'd open one in Carpinteria. I love the street signs, in the correct order, marking the checkout stands instead of numbers. I love the art on the walls that tell a little story about our community. Amazing wine section. Did I mention the cheese yet? Because I won't even buy cheese anywhere else. I also love that's it's near a Pet Store. I can do most of my weekly shopping in one place. Saves time and gas. Please open a store in Carpinteria. Please. read more

The people at Trader Joe's are rockstars. Two weekends ago shopping was crowded, chaotic and stressful with the start of the Shelter at Home order. This past Sunday was absolutely civilized and relaxed by comparison. I waited in an orderly line with everyone separated by 6 feet. They let in only a certain number of people at a time. The shelves were fully stocked. I found everything on my grocery list except canned corn, and I'm sure they'll have some next week. The Trader Joe's employees were cheerful and chatted with me like usual. I know they have to be exhausted and stressed and worried about their own health, but they didn't show it. I just want to thank them for risking their own health and lives so that I can go home and cook healthy, delicious meals for my husband and me while we wait out the pandemic. Thanks! read more

Just got back from Trader Joe's on Milpas and was amazed at the pleasant shopping experience..stand in a line outside on a masking tape X 6 ft away from the next person and when I got to the front of the line,in about 10 minutes, one employee assured me the cart handles had been cleaned and another sprayed my hands with a disinfectant and made sure I rubbed my hands together. The store was fully stocked with about 20 people shopping and no one in the checkout. It seemed to make all the customers very calm no frenzy shopping! read more

For the third time that I've been to this Trader Joe's, I've always had bad service I went in this morning and once again felt discriminated against. It seems as though they never want to help myself or any others that I've been a witness to. I live around the corner and see you quite often, this morning was just another instance. I asked the cash register a question, he ignored me didn't answer my question and when I went to give him the money to pay he didn't even make eye contact with me. however with the two people in front of me he had complete conversations with asked them questions and took his time. Great store made perfect by a good parking lot! Nothing more frustrating than having a horrible lot like the other one in town. Love their products and even after years of shopping at TJ's they still surprise me with good new products. Only complaint is the high sodium levels in some of their frozen products. Nobody eats half the package either. read more

I'm giving 1 star for customer service. Just before this store opened, Trader Jones mailed me a large postcard asking me to visit their new store and pick up a free bag. The first weekend was too crowded to find space in the parking lot. So, my first chance to go back was 3-4 weeks later. I toured to store and bought some stuff and at checkout, presented my free bag card. The young man on Checkout looked nonplussed and showed it to the checkout person on the next lane. "We don't do that anymore," she said. And, with that, my checkout guy crumpled up my postcard and tossed it out. Well! There was a large pile of Trader Joe's bags nearby, for sale at 50¢. And, here am I, a paying customer, presenting my free bag postcard, as directed, only to be told that Trader Joe's doesn't honor that anymore. Now, it's not the free bag that bothered me -- I have plenty of bags and one more doesn't matter. But it was the dismissive way this was handled. Trader Joe's had spent 25¢ on writing and mailing me a postcard; and now they were telling me to "Beat it -- no bag for you!" Trader Joe's tries to present a warm and friendly approach to its customers, and those employees I've met in the store are usually very helpful. But this treatment at checkout, on this occasion on this day, was out of character and not acceptable. read more
