I love Trader Joe's. It's a reliable place to stock up on treats and staples when we're traveling. Today, after brunch at Bobo's followed by a perfectly lovely visit w/ my dear Yelp friend, Bleep, we headed to this Trader Joe's to shop. We bought bananas and oranges and unsalted almonds, chocolate covered almonds, candied ginger, beer for Alan and an Australian Shiraz for me. I love that we know their stock, have favorite things and everything looks familiar. I guess that's why people shop in chain stores: familiarity and predictability. I didn't buy flowers as I often do because I don't think we have a vase. But now we have healthy and fairly healthy snacks to carry us through our 10 day trip w/o a trip to a conventional grocery store. The staff, as usual, were friendly and capable. read more

When I first met Trader Joe, I was impressed. High quality and hard-to-find items at a low price. I only walked in once or twice a month to get this or that. However, my interest developed into quite a crush. I realized that my staple items were not only much better quality at TJs but they were cheap as well. Be still my heart! My crush has since developed into full blown love. When sampling wine one time at the sampling station, I told the guy giving out the wine that I wouldn't move anywhere that didn't have a Trader Joe's. He laughed-but I wasn't kidding. This is my go-to TJs. I come here at least once a week. The samples are delicious and it never seems to be too crowded. I come here for a variety of things but I always get their brown eggs (with wonderfully orange yolk), their pasta (only 99 cents folks), hummus, soy-riso (could have fooled me with this one), amazing olive oil, and of course, the famous two buck chuck. VEGETARIANS AND THOSE WITH SHELLFISH ALLERGIES BEWARE! I used to think Trader Joe's was a great place to shop, but they are not what they appear. If you read the ingredients on their labels almost every product, even those labeled vegetarian (even jams and jellies) are made on equipment shared with shellfish. For those with a shellfish allergy this can be extremely dangerous. Since so many people shop here, you never know what you are eating if you go to a party and someone has put out hummus or veggie dip from TJ, you can end up having a shellfish reaction (it happened to me). Also, I've read articles that some of their foods have been tested and the nutrition content, especially fats, on their labels are false. Google Hungry Girl and look for Trader Joe's or as they call it Traitor Joe's. read more

Okay, preface this review by disclosing that I'm not a vegan- or allergic to shellfish- or have to buy everything organic (like a few of the other yelpers who reviewed this Trader Joe's)... Honestly, I can't say I've ever regretted anything I've bought at Trader Joe's. The only suggestion I have when shopping at TJ's is to be mindful of the sell by dates on items before purchasing them, as I've seen that they occasionally carry products past the "sell by" date. This afternoon, I stopped in to pick up dinner. I came up with a good and easy recipe for Thai Chicken Curry: Chicken tenders, Thai red curry sauce, frozen peas, and frozen curried rice. You can throw in a little chicken broth, and a few raisins (if you have them). I make white rice in a rice cooker on the side. This meal is seriously easy, and even a culinary challenged person (like me) can prepare it with ease. Best part, it tastes amazing and you can buy everything you need to make this meal (and numerous other easy ones) at TJ's... They normally demo easy cook meals. Culinary challenged types like me need to come here on a regular basis for new ideas and samples- to see what you like or don't like. Today they were sampling dark chocolate truffle hearts in honor of Valentine's day. How could I resist? I live for chocolate!!!! How kind, thanks Trader Joe's- I will be your Valentine! What a nice way to reward their loyal shoppers, and the chocolate sample kept me going for my shopping trip and the drive home. That's what makes this store so great. You come here starving, and you leave a little more fueled. What other store (besides maybe Costco) can say that? Also, (and I think this speaks volumes about their quality) I have yet to encounter any store- chain or local grocery- that has better plants and flowers than TJ's. Today they were offering a dozen beautiful long stemmed roses for $12.99. So, okay- maybe they don't have the overall most organic offerings, but in my opinion you get friendly service, consistency, value, and quality at Trader Joe's. read more

I often forget about this Trader Joe's. I tend to visit the Wilmot location as I drive by that one every single day on my way to and from work. I hit up this one when I realize I have forgotten something and I am on my way to my gym, which shares this parking lot. It's smaller, things are organized slightly different and I honestly don't believe they have the same offerings as the other store. Maybe that's just my lack of familiarity with this location. However, the quality of the products never disappoint. I find certain things at Trader Joe's that I either can't find or just won't buy anywhere else. Their parmesan/romano blend of cheese can always be found in my fridge and their snack sacks of cranberries, cashews and almonds don't last long in my house. Their prices are great and they do a really great job of labeling things that are gluten-free. I personally think that gluten gets a bad rap. My wife, however, needs to limit her gluten intake, so it helps that TJ's offers so many different gluten-free products; at very reasonable prices, I might add. Oh yes, don't forget the wine. If you drink wine and leave Trader Joe's without finding a decent bottle of wine at a very reasonable price... well you did something wrong. read more

Such mixed feelings about Trader Joe's. When I think of all the Trader Joe's brand food I've purchased and thrown away after taking 2 bites...well....I feel sad. This particular Trader Joe's is the least crowded of all the Trader Joe's in Tucson and I still feel creepy and claustrophobic and can't wait to buy a few things and leave. Please employees...you can stop asking me how I'm doing today. It becomes tedious after the fifth time......sorry. I am grateful to have TJs here at all. There is no comparison to any other grocery of which I am aware. Organic easily available, huge variety, etc etc. My only complaint really is 1) the clerks need to say "I don't know" if they don't and offer to get someone who does instead of making up information about products they do not know and 2) I really have a high degree of suspicion about "winning" a weekly raffle for recycling your bags. I think the recycling is fabulous and should be done everywhere and an incentive certainly helps. But I don't see "winners" posted weekly AND, the prize is really on the cheap given the volume of business they get. I think they could afford either #2 prizes (not virtual, mind you) or #1 prize of $100 (again not virtual). Thanks for your kind attention. read more

I am rating trader joes in the category that it is in, and that is why it rates low. As a grocery store it leaves much to be desired. It has a very small selection of meat, rice, pasta etc. it seems to have none of the "specialty" stuff you need and tons of specialty stuff you have to find uses for. The customer service is great, the snack selection is vast and delicious. Really if they had more things i needed they'd rate higher. But the fact that you can't buy Orzo or a sack of russet potatoes is a huge downer. you cant do all your normal shopping there TJ's requires the energy and stamina for an extra trip. read more

I am really amazed at the assortment of unique foods, flavors, and selection at Trader Joe's. The prices are good even if the place gets a little cramped since the size of the store is small. I love that they carry hummus dressing, dried/ flattened bananas, spicy lentil wraps, vanilla meringues, yummy banana nut bread, and great salads. The customer service is so friendly and I have never had a problem with the staff. Trader Joes is an awesome place for all categories of food except produce. It's never that good and so much of it is packaged in styrofoam and plastic wrap so you can't inspect it. That aside there are so many things here I can't imagine my life without. These include feta with Medeterranian herbs, sweet and hot mustard and a $4.99 bottle of sparkling Contadino Pinot Grigio. And an added plus at this location is last time I was there they appeared to have returned to self serve beverage samples. read more

Okay, in general, Trader Joe and I are good buddies. There are things you can find cheaper here than at a larger chain supermarket, and I've yet to find something of their brand that isn't decent. This one in particular is small but mighty. There's a respectable wine and beer section, quite the array of cheeses (which is a huge reason you go to a Trader Joe's type grocery, let's be honest)*, and solid offerings of both prepared or cut and whole produce. I needed to fill some holes in my spice rack and was referred to TJ from a friend. She assured me that Trader Joes had cheap spices and a good selection. I'm not sure if all locations are the same , but the spice isle at this particular store was 2 feet wide and three shelves high. They probably had 10-12 different spices in all and many were basic and useless . Though the prices were rather low, I thought for a minute that I may have missed the ACTUAL spice isle and that this was perhaps a display shelf. I traversed the entire market in search of some help to either aid me in locating the true spice isle or to assure me that their meager 10 jar shelf was the best they had to offer. No luck. I may have laid eyes on one or two employees but none were too concerned with making so much as eye contact w me let alone offer any help whatsoever. Now I would be a whole lot more understanding if they store was super busy or it was the day before thanksgiving or something. But this was just a lazy Saturday morning.....maybe 20 patrons in the entire place. Just nothing to purchase and no one to convince me otherwise . So I dropped my basket on the floor and left. Went to Albertsons where their spice isle was 20 - 30 feet long with hundreds of options from which to choose. I got every spice I was looking for in five minutes. Many were 2 for $3. Not going to Trader Joes again any time soon....if ever. read more

We've been here a few times, and I am always pleased. It was not too long ago that I would mock the radio ads and label Trader Joe's a trendy/yuppie place to shop. I now publicly declare my original opinion was formed on my perception without exploring the facts. This location is small, but very effective. I'd rate the customer service as 'better than average' to 'very good'. Employee's generally appear eager to help. More times than not, they'll say hello and ask if you're finding everything you need. I'm a fan of the beer selection and the fact I can create my own 'mix and match' 6 pack. As with all my reviews, only World Class customer service scores 5 stars. read more

Great grocery store. Everything is priced reasonably and there are some fun items that are unique to the brand. Chipotle salsa and their bean dip are both a good go to for your snacking side. If you are going on a date or to a get together with friends you can run in, pick from an array of fresh flowers/plants and then select a bottle of wine from the most reasonably priced (for the quality) I have seen. This is not the two buck chuck place it was known for. They have recognized that for under 7 dollars they can sell some really good wines. Even the more expensive names are equal in price, if not less, than another grocery. I have never run into a staff member that is not helpful or kind. I am not one who care to strike up a conversation while I am checking out but sometimes it just flows naturally here. Real human beings, on the level and working hard. Kudos to management for making that happen and doing so for at least the 5 years I have been in the neighborhood (sorry it took me so long to write this) I would have taken one star off because I have encountered multiple times where their produce goes bad, quickly after purchase. Trader Joe's New York Style Cheesecake is the worst I've ever eaten. Sara Lee is better. The shrink wrap is difficult to remove without making a mess, the graham cracker crust sticks to the cardboard on bottom so you need to somehow peel it off without further destroying the cheesecake. The cheesecake has the texture and taste of week old cheesecake from a cheap diner. If I was Trader Joe's I wouldn't even put my name on it. read more

What can I say, I lived in California and loved this chain. Food is great and affordable, and I rather eat snacks from TJs than from Walmart any day. They also have coffee to give away, which is pretty nice, as well as free samples. I can really recommend you the frozen tortellini, some of the best in town without a doubt. read more

This is my go to location for trader Joe's. Right next to a chiropractor and a brewery! I love all of the obscure things that you can find at trader Joe's with ot paying an "obscure things " price. They also, without fail, have somthing for a sample. They always have something to eat and something to drink and usually things that I would (or have) buy. Trader Joe's may not be your one stop shop for everything on your list. The store us simply not that large. But where else will you find pickle flavored popcorn? read more

Employees are cheerful, friendly and helpful. Food you can get here and not anywhere else like Fallafel salad and smoked Scotch Salmon. Huge variety of cheese and international frozen foods. Always busy. A money pit because they earned a reputation of quality and fair price. Nice selection of wines for a smaller grocery store. Appreciate store blurbs under the wines even though I may bring them home and disagree. I have seen some outdated stuff, but not by more than a couple days. So much great stuff I can easily blow $150 on a single fit in a giant backpack shopping trip. Stuff is really well labeled. If you are looking for special dietary needs, staff is very helpful. I love all Trader Joe's and do most of my food shopping at TJ's. Mostly on Oracle and Mc Gee because I can go into Marshall's as well. However, I must say that the Grant Store is laid out so much better. Much more user friendly. The way they display their products is really like eye candy. I love the easy way they all handle anything you bring back for whatever reason. No questions asked. Even if you just don't like the particular product. Not that there are many of this kind of situation for me. I have a feeling that the Mc Gee store is going to remodel soon. At any rate, good prices, healthy food, so much choices. You just can't go wrong making this your favorite stop for just about everything. I can go back to years ago when grocery shopping was a chore. By far the best customer service I've ever received grocery shopping. The remember myself and my daughter and when the cranky toddler throws a fit (as cranky toddlers do) they are right there with snacks and stickers. I always have a great, uplifting conversation with any employee I come into contact with and I will go out of my way to go to a Trader Joe's. This location especially has the kindest staff, and we look forward to grocery shopping for that reason alone! read more

I'm used to go to Trader Joe's to supplement what I can't find somewhere else. They have good quality products but it is a little bit expensive. They have a big variety of wine from all around the place, Europe and South America. That is definitely a big plus! read more

Best grocery store ever! Every time I come in I am always greeted by nice and friendly staff. You really find the nicest little things at Trader Joe's one by one and eventually it's apart of your regular grocery list. Their prices are so reasonable which is hard to find for healthier food. During this quarantine time, they are doing an exceptional job at being clean, enforcing social distancing, and are always stocked up on what's in demand. I waited in line for about 15 minutes which gave them the opportunity to make sure only a certain number are in the store at a time. Every few people that would go in, the line would move up, and the associate would inform us on the bring your own bag procedure and so on. It is so nice how comfortable you guys can make us feel in this crazy time. I am so happy with this store and this is definitely my favorite in all of Tucson. And I want to say thank you to all the associates that are working during this time! And I can't wait for this virus to be over so we can have samples again lol! read more

Everyone is always friendly and helpful and I can always count on fresh produce, good quality meats, beautiful flowers and great deals on wine and all my other staples. I don't mind venturing out to other stores but I love the selection of this one. My only gripe would be how you can fall in love with some items and they are only temporarily stocked :( But it keeps you trying new things. read more

I love me some Trader Joe's! I am really surprised by the negative comment. I just moved from Kansas City where there are NO Trader Joe's and I love this place! It's right around the corner from my house so I love coming here. I always get good service find what I am looking for. However, it is true that it can be difficult to buy a sack of potatoes--Trade Joe's seems like the place for the grocery shopper who shops several times a month--always great products at great prices! I love Trader Joe's! I work near Grant and Swan so this store is a very convenient place to shop before or after work. The selection here is AWESOME. I love the Orange Chicken and Coconut Curry egg rolls. They have really good produce and meats, cheeses, breads, as well as desserts. Whenever my partner and I have dinner parties, we buy a lot of the pre-packaged meals and just heat them up and serve. We get nothing but great compliments from our friends. They have the most interesting desserts as well, from pumpkin cheesecake to Mochi, to Tiramisu and pumpkin souffles. Great selection!! The customer service is pretty good; I have only had one very unfriendly cashier, who obviously had issues. The prices here are also very good! read more

My first time at Trader Joe's and YAY I approve! After years of hearing people talking about this store and the food that they have I finally got to try it. It reminded me of a smaller whole foods and focused a lot on independent brands of food. Maybe because of this particular location it was smaller than normal store. The items also seem to be very healthy whether I'm correct or not. Prices are alright and the service is nice. The only thing I bought from here was....wait for it.....drum roll....COOKIE BUTTER! This infamous spread that everyone constantly posts pictures of on instagram and facebook, I got to try it! It was pretty good and mostly stood up to its reputation. I bet if I lived near a trader joe's I'd be visiting it at least once a week. read more

I used to be a fan of TJ's but not here in AZ. Their organic selection is very limited. No organic apples, no organic oranges, no organic fruit period. The kicker was this bottled water I bought. I think most all bottled water is BS to begin with, so I didn't bother to look where it was from or all the other stuff they write on the package. Once I got home, I looked and it said New Zealand Artesian Water. Yep, and it said it's taken from rolling hills and snow capped mountains yada yada. Right, they collect this stuff from water high up in the mountains, package it and then send it over seas some 17+ hours and sell you a gallon of it for 2 dollars and 50 some cents? Are people really this naive and dumb? If all this was true, it would cost about 8 bucks a gallon. I think TJ's is a joke, at least in this state anyhow. read more
