I recently joined my husband for a work conference and we chose to stay at the Renaissance due to their stellar reviews and location to the convention center, and who could pass up an opportunity to explore Disneyworld with our little 18mo old? To preface, my day started out horrible. My daughter discovered her old milk cup from the night before and managed to drink from it before I could take it away from her. She ended up being sick a couple of times which I wasn't prepared for. I also wasn't prepared for my husband forgetting to leave us a room key behind but managed to leave his credit card. (This will play a big role in the future) While realizing I should probably get another key made I went to look for my backpack with my wallet and ID in it. Low and behold my husband accidentally left it at the Tradewinds restaurant the night before. In all actuality I don't blame him, we were all exhausted from a full day at Disneyworld. I decided it was safe to venture out and attempt to retrieve my belongings. Worst case scenario, I had my husbands credit card with our name on it. I made it to Tradewinds with a warm greeting from Robyn Hill. I explained to her the backpack situation and she promptly called security and managed to track down a backpack that was left but we still weren't 100% sure if it was mine. The only caveat was that we would have to wait a little while because they had one more job in front of us. That was no problem, we were hungry so we decided to take advantage of the breakfast buffet. Since my daughter was still a bit under the weather she wasn't too into the food but I still appreciated the variety for her to nibble on. While dining she decided she had enough and got up out of the high chair. I sat her down next to me only to find she was entertaining herself with dads credit card. Moments later she put it back down on the booth only for it to slip through the crack and into oblivion. I seriously want to point out a flaw in the design as anything that falls through becomes instantly inaccessible due to built in cushions and a the solid footboard. So completely shattered from my day I honestly didn't think it could get worse. I had no form of payment, no ID and a very cranky 18mo old that was ready to go back to the room. Robyn rushed to the rescue and reassured me that she would do what ever she could to get the card back. She called engineering and we sat waiting in suspense. She had no clue the day I was going through but consistently made me feel reassured. Not much longer a gentleman Navigator approached with a stuffed animal and offered it to my daughter. What a relief it brightened up her day and mine and really turned my whole attitude around. It kept her entertained long enough to wait for security to bring the bag, get the card out of the booth and it also became her new sleeping buddy for the trip. Thanks again to Robyn and your whole team for really assisting in making our whole stay a really wonderful one! We would definitely consider the Renaissance Orlando again for any future travel. read more

Our dinner was amazing. My wife got the chicken & dumplings per a recommendation for our server. It was fork tender chicken and the dumplings pillowy soft. I got the ribeye and it was done a perfect medium rare. Our three children got kids meals which were a decent deal at $10 for an entree, side, drink & cookie. Nothing to really speak about here...typical overpriced hotel morning buffet. The kids are free but they did get orange juice (1) and a hot cocoa (2) and it somehow came out to $21!!!! For three drinks!!! I know I know hotels charge an arm and a leg but dang come on now!! The adult buffet was about $20 per adult which we did not eat nearly enough for that..we quickly learned though so we filtered our next morning breakfast and cheated the system a bit for a buck! The food itself was your typical breakfast buffet food. Omelettes made to order, pancakes and waffles made to order and the rest of the normal sides! The fruit was not as good as were expecting for being in FL so that was kind of a disappointment. We never went for lunch or dinner so I can only review on breakfast. I'm being generous with the two stars. However, breakfast at trade winds was pretty good. I had the yogurt parfait one morning and a scrambled egg, bacon, hash browns and wheat toast the other. I'm pretty fed up with hotels and resorts not offering healthier options such as sugar free jellies and syrups and whole grain breads for sandwiches and burgers. Here was no different. We had dinner here one night. I ordered three smaller plates to be served with my colleagues appetizer, soup and main course. I ordered the sausage burrata flatbread, corn chowder and half portion of linguini with clam sauce. The flatbread was outstanding. I should've stopped there. They brought the soup out about a minute after the flatbread so sent it back. When it came back out it was lukewarm but tasted ok. The linguini and clam sauce came out tasting sour. I sent it back. They pushed hard to refire it. I wasn't too hungry by then but they said the pasta was freshly made there so having admitted to being to heavy handed with the lemon, I agreed to try it again. It wasn't much better the second time. I'm probably spoiled by the wonderful clear clam sauce we get in great Italian restaurants in the NY tri-state area. Should've known better. read more

From my experience, hotel restaurants can be a gamble. Not wanting to leave the hotel for dinner on our last night in Orlando we decided to try Tradewinds. My daughter and I were not disappointed. The buttermilk biscuits, from the 'shares' menu, were amazing. We shared main entrees of ribeye and the fish special of the night, cobia, which were both above average. The cobia-in particular-was really quite good with a roasted corn and pepper base and fingerling potatoes. Our server was attentive and professional. Overall, a much better than average hotel dining experience. Would recommend giving it a try. read more

Meh. I ate here twice during my stay at the hotel. The food was good both times (swordfish with vegetables for dinner and a blackened shrimp chopped salad for lunch) but the service wasn't great. The night we ate dinner there our waitress seemed to disappear for long periods of time. The next day we ate lunch there and our waiter was very much hovering over the table and seemed to be in a big rush to get rid of us. There was a conference going on and at one point a large line formed to be seated but by the time we sat down the line was all but gone so I don't really know why he wanted to get rid of us so quickly. If you're here for a conference and only have a short lunch break, it's not a absolutely terrible option but if you have time to leave and find something nearby, that's your best bet. read more

Attended a conference and ate here in a group. Service was great. They were willing to accommodate separate checks for a large group. Food was so-so, as expected with hotel dining. I ordered linguini with clams. Noodles came out overdone. They didn't get the grit out of the clams. It wasn't worth complaining. I ate to eat. read more

Like others, we thought we were captive to an overpriced mediocre restaurant at Renaissance last week. WRONG! For $21.00 each, we had an upscale dinner "buffet" (buffet does not do it justice, except we could go back for more!). The slow-roasted short ribs in a horseradish-wine reduction was fabulous...and the roasted vegetables were far from mediocre; the salmon was cooked to perfection! Hardly buffet fare in our book. Ask for Georgina-we loved her friendliness and service. She is a huge asset to Tradewinds. And Napoleon was great, too. I fell in love with their local, local, local honey comb display. Mighty tasty! We had breakfast during our stay for a business convention. The food was good, but I felt extremely overpriced for what we received. They offer a breakfast buffet, but for $20/person. We hadn't anticipated eating that much so ordered off the menu. French toast and an omelet, took about r4 minutes to get our food. With just 2 coffees our bill was still over $40. The food itself was good, fairly bland and hot, just took a while to get. Wait staff was very friendly and seemed a bit stretched out for a morning rush. read more

The staff is friendly, but the wait was too long. We really wanted to like this place since it's right inside the resort, but if I'm honest It was not the best. The restaurant is very expensive so don't expect anyone else in the restaurant with you, because the price drives people away. We ate here twice. Once for breakfast, and once for dinner. The breakfast was just not worth it for me. They have Krispy Kreme donuts, omelets freshly made, smoothies, fruit and cereal but nothing spectacular about it. The dinner was better but so expensive and a very limited menu, like a total of 6 entrees on the dinner menu. If I come back to this resort, I will eat somewhere else. I suggest Bahama Breeze, they are close to the resort and they are amazing! read more

Great hotel restaurant in Renaissance. A little pricey, but normal for a Marriott brand hotel restaurant. Lunch buffet is $17, and includes soup, salad, several hot dishes, deli sandwiches & dessert. They also have a fairly ample breakfast buffet which is good. The items change from day to day, so if you are at the hotel several days, you wouldn't be having the same buffet items each time. There are menu items available as well, but the cost of a la carte items makes the buffet a better value with wider selection. read more

Was seated right away, there weren't a lot of people there at 8:30 on a Friday. Being in a hotel I imagine they aren't a popular option considering there is so much in the surrounding area. Bread was pretty hard, but sourdough usually is, so no qualm there. Side note - the menu listed on open table was ENTIRELY DIFFERENT than what was actually offered. That was kind of a let down. We already had our minds made up on what to get based off the open table menu. Probably wouldn't have eaten there if we saw the current menu. We ordered a prosciutto platter with Crostinis, ricotta and pickled vegetables. It was good. The pickled veggies were a little too sour for my liking. I ordered the "best cheeseburger ever" which - wasn't. Fiancé ordered the "harvest flatbread". The cheeseburger was massive, very difficult to eat. Had to deconstruct. The bacon was wayyyyy over cooked and inedible. Hurt my teeth to eat the bacon, had to take it off my burger. They weren't kidding about the jalapeños. I love spicy and I love heat, but holy f*ck, this was the hottest burger I've ever eaten. It was so hot that I couldn't even enjoy it. Ate a quarter of the burger and ended up wasting the rest - and I absolutely hate wasting food. Fiancé sent back his flatbread. This thing had a pound of cheese on it. The management offered a complimentary dessert but we declined. We stay at the Renaissance frequently and will not eat there again. read more

Sunday brunch. Service is superb. The staff were very friendly, accommodating, attentive, and personable- from the hostess, to our server, to tommy at the omelette and waffle station, and the lady food attendant. Initially I was disappointed and expected a larger spread. We had come on a personal recommendation from the concierge at our hotel. But I was won over with juicer, delicious omelette on top of purple kale, smoked salmon lox, crunchy bacon, the fluffy waffles, scrumptious croissant, and wonderful staff. This was the worst restaurant I've ever ever ever been to! It was a compete embarrassment for me. Was staying at the hotel due to a conference...decided to take customers there for dinner so we did not have to go off site. It started from when we got there, they told us they didn't have our reservation...then it took them two hours to get us our appetizers let alone they screwed up everyone's orders. We decided that it was probably not a good idea to stick around for dessert. I have never been more humiliated. The food was horrible and completely not worth the 300 bucks I dropped for six people. The waitress didn't give a damn because she knew she was going to get the 20% tip. Don't go! read more

Let's start with the decor in this place. What an identity crisis. Stuffed fish dropping from the ceiling, polynesian chairs, pictures of venice on the walls and nautical accessories throughout. The decorations are compilation of everything and anything that has anything ocean-related and other items such as fake flowers and floral print booth covers that add to the confusion. Now to the most important part of the review, the food...It was horrible. I had to return my dish because it was way too salty and the fish was not fresh. We had oyster shooters which I was excited about but the shooters were warm. Very bad food. I hope that they get their act together. read more
