I would like to mention how accommodating East River cleaners has been. I have a meeting scheduled for today at 2pm so I pulled my suit out of a closet that I haven't used in a year and a half. It was full of mold and the shirts were not looking too good either. I stopped in to five different dry cleaners in the neighborhood begging for immediate help. Not one of them would even think to take the time. On one last chance I went into east river with my plea for help. Rigo, the gentleman behind the counter jumped right on it. I've tried a lot of dry cleaners and tailors across New York, but East River Cleaners has become my go-to. They do a really good job with every garment I give them -- they've done excellent tailoring on several dresses that were too big on me, and they've taken great care of my nicer items that needed dry cleaning. Their prices are also very reasonable -- dry cleaning a long, formal dress from Reformation cost me less than $20, and none of my tailoring, even when it's very extensive, has ever cost more than $100. I brought my jeans in to have two holes in the crotch area patched. I'm a little in shock at what a terrible job they did. The light-colored thread they used only brings more attention to those spots, and on the inside, so much extra material is left flapping around that it feels like I am wearing a diaper. Be ware. They lose items and owner is very hard to work with. They did a fairly good job and I used them for three years, however they constantly lost some items here and there. I even continued using them after I moved. Unfortunately, the owner was not very cooperative when they lost two bran new Brooklinen sheets I sent them For their first wash before using. The owner said he'd replace them and then completely stopped answering my txts and calls. Shame he lost a customer just because they didn't know how to handle this situation. read more

I stayed at a nearby hotel (Marriott Courtyard) and took their recommendation for a local cleaner to steam/press a suit and launder four shirts, both on short notice. They send the shirts out but delivered as promised the next day, they even schlepped the shirts for me back across the street to the hotel. The suit was turned around very quickly, the in-house work was excellent, and presentation of the finished product also excellent with "stuffing" the sleeves with crepe paper and a lightweight cardboard mid-piece to stabilize and center the suit button, alignment and heft. Although there are other good-rated local cleaners listed on Yelp, I wouldn't imagine any need to go elsewhere, prices were reasonable although they charged 50 cents extra to box my shirts, everything was done to my satisfaction with absolute no complaints or concerns. This place is pretty great. It only takes them about 2 weeks to get to know you, and then you can run in with a big pile of clothes before work and drop it off and they take care of everything. The service is quick and friendly, and they have never messed up a single item of clothing. They even got dried nail polish off of a white shirt. And they deliver. The prices are pretty standard for NYC, but at least the service is good and there are no mistakes. read more

This business was taken over about 6 months ago by new management which is friendlier than the folks who used to run the place. A first for any dry cleaner I have ever used for which I give them high marks is that they actually returned change they found in my pants pockets. There has never been any reason for me to complain about any work they have done for me. Highly recommended. read more

I've taken my laundry in twice and they've lost four items. The first time they lost a towel, which I told them about but ended up letting go. I gave them another chance and took my stuff in again. This time they lost two towels and a pair of shorts (nice shorts). The stuff they lost cost about $100 in total, not to mention I paid them $30 for their services. I kept going in day after day and very calmly explaining my situation. They kept giving me the run around. Then they only offered me store credit, which doesn't do me any good when I have to replace $100 worth of items. Especially since they'd probably lose more items with my credited service. I don't trust them at all with my stuff anymore. I've never had anything dry cleaned here but I definitely would NOT recommend sending your laundry out. They don't seem to care about their customers at all. read more

Have gone to them for basic laundry and dry cleaning and all seems fine; prompt delivery/pick-up and always friendly - they know me by my voice now and I'm loyal, so that probably helps. This is a solid cleaner...nothing horrid or great to report on them. The clothes (shirts, pants, dresses) were clean and starched, and they deliver to my building (across the street) over two days. The service is kind of surly but not mean, so I can't complain. Nothing to brag about -- standard NYC dry cleaner, slightly overpriced, but generally OK most of the time. However, they've shrunk / ruined a few of my woolens by laundering them -- even when I specifically requested dry cleaning and the clothes were clearly labeled "dry clean only." (And the mistakenly laundered clothes reek of detergent, which is a problem if you're sensitive or allergic to residue.) When I complained, they were surly and unapologetic. read more
