First visit: I was driving up the mountain to Big Bear Lake on a blustery Friday night in December,…read morewhen I realized that snow chains were mandatory (oops!). So I headed back down the mountain and luckily for me, stumbled upon an O'Reilly Auto Parts store. They were particularly busy at 6:30 pm that Friday, as many other hapless motorists had belatedly realized they needed chains to ascend to Big Bear Lake. Some other folks were out of luck (their chains were out of stock), but luckily they had mine, for a reasonable price. Only a couple of minor complaints here: The dude behind the counter started to walk me outside to check out the size of my tires, but suddenly he disappeared. I realized that he had stopped to help some prior customers install windshield wipers.... but without telling me, apologizing for the delay, getting another sales rep to help me, etc. So I stood around outside, getting angrier and angrier, until finally I went inside to complain. Thankfully, just as I was getting worked up, the guy came back in to find me, already armed with the specs for my tires so he could find the right chains for my car. Unfortunately, the sales rep had made an idiotic assumption that my car was the first one he saw outside. This turned out to be (obviously) totally wrong. Had I not checked with him on where he got the tire specs, he would have sold me chains that didn't fit my car.... and I wouldn't have realized it until I was up on the mountain with the snow chain installer. Another annoyance: There were two identically-priced options for chains: One was a cable chain, the other was a standard link chain. The guy recommended the cable version. My snow chain installer later "tsked tsked" me for purchasing those, as it's harder to get traction when you're essentially driving on strings of mini rotating wheels. So.... why the relatively high rating, you may ask? I'll explain: On my second visit (the very next morning!), I had stupidly tried to remove my chains myself on the way back down the mountain, and they had gotten wrapped around the axles. In desperation, I headed back to O'Reilly, hoping they'd cut the chains off for me with bolt cutters. While the manager couldn't locate the bolt cutters, he very kindly made a phone call down the street to a friend at an auto repair shop, and arranged for me to get some assistance from him (turns out, I wasn't charged for this!) I was so pleased with this extra level of service that I called back to thank the manager personally for his help. (The manager was so flummoxed that he hardly knew what to say.... my guess is, he doesn't get kudos very often!) So while my experience here was mixed, I'd say: Go to this O'Reilly Auto Parts. If you have any issues, ask for the lovely manager, whose name I unfortunately don't recall.

They always make sure to keep me informed and are very clear explaining to me what my vehicle needs. During my recent visit, I was there long enough to observe how busy they were, yet they consistently put customers first, they made sure everyone's needs were taken care of (in person & over the phone). I also got to witness several satisfied customers leave the shop, which truly reflects the quality of service they provide. I'm very thankful to have a reliable shop I can trust to take care of my vehicle. I highly recommend Eddies Auto Care for any vehicle work needed!

I have taken my car to this shop for major repairs and other services, and unfortunately, I cannot…read morerecommend them. In my experience, they try to get as much money out of you as possible. After having my transmission repaired here, two additional issues arose--issues they refused to take responsibility for. One of those problems had previously been fixed by another mechanic and I brought it to Eddies Auto Care attention right away, yet they dismissed it entirely even though I was under the warranty period. The second issue became apparent months later when I noticed my engine oil level was unusually low which I didn't have oil leaks before the transmission fix. After taking my car to another mechanic for maintenance and an inspection, they confirmed the oil leak was coming from the transmission side of the engine with pictures. Despite this, Eddie's Auto Care showed no concern when I brought it to their attention and not manned up to take responsibility. Alfredo, the owner, was just talking over me and not giving me a chance to talk at all. I guess he views that as great customer service. I just hung up on him. In addition, they recommend services your car doesn't actually need, while overlooking things that genuinely require attention. For example, other mechanics and friends pointed out that my rear brake pads were worn out and needed immediate replacement. Eddie's, however, told me the rear pads were fine and instead insisted that my front brake pads needed to be replaced--even though they didn't at the time. Based on my experience, I do not recommend this shop at all. They are not trustworthy, do not take responsibility for their mistakes, and will try to milk money from you.
