Chicken salad, the Houston (pulled pork), Greek wrap and chicken Caesar salad wrap. 2 hot drinks and banana bread. According to my family, all the sandwiches were good choices. I tried my daughter's chai which was perfect. This place is very small but it's good to take out. It was fast too. I read about it and was happy we tried it. The food here is delicious and priced well. Walking in, I immediately noticed the size of the space. It's pretty tiny. There are maybe 5 or 6 tables inside, most for 2 people, so not a good place for a large group to try to eat in house. Big sign on the wall lists the menu, service was fast and polite. Problem is once you order you wait to pick up, and the service window is at the back, so it gets really crowded. I felt like I was constantly in someone's way, but that could be a me issue! Went with a large group, all of which went next door to the Bento place. They (12 people) all got their food while we waited at least another 10 minutes. Probably 25 minutes total wait for a sandwhich and a wrap. When I asked for an update about 20 minutes in, they rudely said, "Yeah that's normal, this isn't fast food." Which...honestly feels like they're hiding behind a "we don't compromise on quality" schtick to justify an absurdly inefficient prep process. I get that really high quality made to order food takes time. But we're not talking about a ribeye or halibut. It's a grilled chicken wrap...Hard to explain but it came off as very arrogant and rude without any real intent to make it better. This was the absolute go to place in Lake Louise. The food in Lake Louise is very limited and the Fairmont essentially has a monopoly on food hence their inflated priced. However, Trailhald Cafe is the single highlight serving fairly priced high quality items. I came here multiple times since everything was so good here. We ordered: 1. Ruben Sandwich: I was honestly kind of expecting just some cold pastrami on dry cold bread but this was actually really good! They grilled the bread first which gave it a really rich crunch and the pastrami was good quality and nice and warm. It was so perfect for bringing up to the Aegis Trail and eating it on top of the mountain near the Tea house. 2. Chicken Salad Sandwich: Also delicious where the bread was warmed and the chicken salad was super fresh with crunchy bread outside. 3. Maple Canadino Coffee: This coffee was SOOOOO GOOD! What I loved also was they don't pick on us lactose intolerant customers where cafes normally charge an extra $1. Instead it's a free changed to oak milk! The large size is also so fairly priced. 4. Donair: This is similar to a greek wrap with the lamb and beef cuts similar to a schwarma. I really liked it! Initially I thought it was an actual sandwich since it's in the sandwich section but it's more of a wrap. 5. Ceasar Wrap: This was super good! I liked this more than the Donair but my wife ordered this so I only got a few bites. The chicken was really good and they had the perfect amount of dressing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall, the service is fast even though it can get crowded. They're all working super hard making everyones orders. Took about 10 mins to get both sandwiches out which is pretty fast since they freshly cook the meats. It was a 5 star until we went for a second visit. On our first visit, we loved the falafel wrap so much we decided to go a second time. The second time however is when we discovered the inconsistency in their food. On our first visit the falafel wrap was well dressed with the dressing mixed into the ingredients so that with each bite you can taste the dressing. On the second visit the dressing was only on one side of the wrap and the falafel itself was very dry and crumbly. We also tried the Cajun chicken wrap. Most of the chicken was at one end of the wrap and I couldn't really taste the Cajun seasoning. What we did enjoy was their samosas (butter chicken and vegetable) and their baked goods (lemon bar, carrot cake, and lemon poppy seed cake). The restaurant is very small with limited seating, about 4 small tables inside and 2 outside. Anticipate taking your food to go. The service was fast and efficient but not very friendly. The food is actually pretty tasty if they can be more consistent with the execution of their items. Wow, love love love this cafe!! Their drinks and food are amazing and so reasonably priced. I've tried the caramel brûlée latte (iced) and maple Canadiano. Both were great in their own ways, but the espresso of the latte was sooo smooth. It tasted high quality. The maple Canadiano reminded me of hot chocolate. The drinks are not overly sweet, which is nice! We tried the chicken salad sandwich and the donair. Absolutely scrumptious. The chicken salad was fresh, and the ingredients were well balanced. The focaccia was divine. The donair was so yummy - it was slightly sweet from the sauce. Everything about this place is wonderful, and I understand why it gets so busy! Lovely little cafe and coffeeshop that is conveniently located in a plaza not too far from Lake Louise and the famous Fairmont hotel. We were happy to have found Trailhead Cafe because it was tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist stops. I ordered a bagel and cream cheese and it hit the spot. Not sure how you can go wrong with a bagel and cream cheese but nonetheless, they delivered. We also wanted the butter chicken burrito which was listed on their specials menu but unfortunately they were out. Got the Rueben sammy instead and apparently it was one of the best rueben's ever. The staff wasn't too friendly and rather quick and kept to themselves. The pricing is all reasonable. Overall, they came through on exactly what we needed at that time. read more

Bison soup - Very hearty and loads of filling. Could use more meat but was very flavorful. 2. Pancakes - Fluffy, large and has a compote on top which makes syrup not even required! 3. This place was so good we came back a second time. The Cesar wrap is so delicious. High quality sandwiches and wraps. Lots of bakery items and the BEST iced coffee of my life. The maple candiano is so good I sipped it so slow to make it last. Keep in mind that this place gets very busy for the bus drop offs but the staff works very hard and fast it is worth the wait. Solid option for food before Lake Louise! They serve both breakfast and lunch items. I came around lunch time and ordered the Cajun chicken Caesar wrap and the bliss burger. There's not a lot of budget friendly places to eat in lake Louise but trailhead cafe is a great choice. The line may seem long but it moves decently quickly. There's often a lot of people here. Food: Belly buster sandwich - turkey with stuffing and bacon. Great delicious sandwich with a nice cranberry touch to it. 5/5. Donair sandwich - you get a decent amount of Donair slices though I suspect they're pre made with lettuce, tomato and onions in a pita. Nothing special but hits the spot. 3.5/5. Pulled pork and Mac and cheese sandwich - the pulled pork has a great sweet flavor and meatiness. The max and cheese is subtle but delicious. Placed between two toasted slices of bread, this is a nice treat. 4/5. Chicken wrap - the wrap is filled with lots of fresh veggies, chickens and sauce. A great bang for your buck. 5/5. Trailhead cafe is located in a plaza with lots of parking available. Pretty long line for a cafe for a weekday. Very small indoor seating area felt crowded and busy. Good sized menu with a variety of hot drinks and bakery items. Initially, I was excited to try the banana nut bread and poppy seed but that died when I found out the cold items I ordered could not be warmed up. Pro tip for cashier: if you know that it can't be warmed after being given to your customer, best to tell your paying customer their options before refusing them a basic service. We spent two days in lake louise and we had breakfast here both days. Doesnt mean that we didn't check out other places, but this place had everything we were looking for - vegan options, nice view of the mountain and decent coffee. For my desis out there, this place has samosas!! Pretty decent tasting ones, don't expect authentic ones though but tasty nevertheless. The staff is friendly and courteous. Yum! Great place to stop by for a relatively affordable and quick lunch. We grabbed sandwiches to go before our drive along the Canada Icefields. There was a line when we arrived during the lunch rush but the staff were super efficient and friendly. We ended up getting the Canadian club wrap and rueben to-go and ate them in front of bow lake for a great lunch. I loved the wrap which had a good amount of protein and well balanced with the veggies. The rueben was super flavorful as well but a bit salty and oily so definitely good if you're up for something heavier and more filling. Definitely stop here for lunch in Lake Louise! read more

Stopped by here for lunch to see what they had and was pleasantly surprised tried a couple different items and all were very good. They have a great selection and the staff was very friendly , I ended up getting the bliss burger which was very good the bacon was spectacular and also had a great sauce, also tried the Houston sandwich which was pulled pork with Mac and cheese and was also a good size. If your at the Fairmont lake Louise and are looking for a cheaper food option this is definitely a place to stop by and try . A delicious Ruben sandwich, great winters night coffee/hot chocolate, and the chocolate truffle bar was rich and delicious as expected, too. The line was out the door, but moved pretty quickly once we got inside and the staff was blowing and going behind the counter. My friend had a VERY messy BLT that she said was good, and she wasn't a fond of the winters night coffee, she thought it had too much whip or something she just didn't like. After a couple of hours hiking near Lake Louise, we decided to stop by here for a quick snack before heading back to our airbnb. It's a small cafe located near the visitor's center, so parking is readily available and free. There will most likely be a line for both ordering and waiting on your order since this seems to be a popular spot! I can def see why though cause the staff were so nice and friendly, and the items we got were delicious and hit the spot after a day of adventure! So this is the "best breakfast place in Lake Louise", which isn't saying much given the minimal and very mediocre options. This place is TINY and had just 3 people working. It's basically a to-go, order at the counter and take your stuff hiking with you place with a few small tables. Line was out the door and well into the parking lot when we got there at 8:30am. Service was friendly enough and food was fine, nothing special or exciting. But the whole process was a huge cluster. Clearly tour groups have agreements with the cafe because 1. Our Moraine Lakes bus driver gave us vouchers for free breakfast and 2. While we were waiting in line a half hour, two large tour groups came and were given coffee cups and told to go inside and help themselves to the self-serve coffee. This involved cutting through a large line, a narrow doorway and a crowded interior. There simply isn't room inside to accommodate something like that. Food is made to order, which is great, but it takes awhile. Also, they were out of several things when we were finally at the front of the line and able to order. I get the impression that they really want to be a coffee shop, but need to serve food to make it financially. It would work much better in this physical space if it was just a coffee shop. It would function much better if the coffee was set up for tour groups outside. So yes, it probably IS the best breakfast place in Lake Louise, but no, that doesn't mean it's worth waiting in line for. Plan ahead, get your breakfast in Banff or bring it with you. read more

As of June 22 it's open 9 am to 4 pm everyday, with takeout service only. You can't go inside the cafe, but someone will take your order outside and bring it to you when it's ready. They have a good selection of wrap and sandwiches, including some breakfast options that are available all day. I went with The Cure Bagel ($9.25), which is essentially a meat lovers bagel. They offer white, whole wheat, and everything bagels. Both bagels were ready within minutes and we were on our way to Lake Louise! The bagels were wrapped well and were still piping hot when we opened them at the lake. I really enjoyed my bagel; there was a very generous amount of egg and meat, and they didn't include any cheese or peppers as I asked. My friend really enjoyed his Veggie Lovers bagel as well and said it was one of the best bagels he's ever had. We'll be back tomorrow for another delicious and filling breakfast! read more
