Yummiest Bánh Xèo I've had outside Oklahoma City's own Little Saigon/Asian District -- crispy, delicious, and not overly filled. (Lanie had already pointed this out, and I can confirm it. (It's a nice change from the crepes that are so stuffed that no one -- with or without chopsticks -- can pick one up and expect to get even ninety percent of it into his or her mouth.) Ok, I have thought about this place since I ate here for the first time 4 months ago. I went back yesterday to eat here for my birthday. It was such a disappointment! First off, we drove about 2 hrs to eat here. It's all I wanted for my bday dinner. My hubs says it's a far drive for some food, but I was like it's worth it! Well, when we got there, it was not too busy. The lunch crowd was already eating and gone. We ordered the "famous bun Bo hue", banh xeo (Vietnamese crepes) , a brisket pho and a 2 orders of the clear shrimp dumplings (banh bot loc). The server was the same one we got last time. Nice kid. He takes our order and leaves. Brings us water and soon came out the clear dumplings. Once we ate that, we just waited for our food. After 20 mins, I said " it's taking longer than normal"... hubby agreed. Another 10 min goes by, I look around and realize the tables who came in after us, already got their food and was eating away. We looked at our server and he runs to the kitchen. Then the lady who runs the register, (boss lady) brings out two bowls. I look at it, and said that's not ours, we ordered BBH, not pho. She then takes it back toy the kitchen and then we wait again. After another 15- 20 min, our server came by and I said "hey, our food is taking forever to come out. What's going on?" He said oh I don't know let me check. I think they gave you the wrong food. So another 10 min goes by, they finally being out our two bowls of BBH. I look at it, no herbs. I ask the kid, can I get some of the green onions and cilantro that shall comes w it? He ran and brought out a plate of veggies I didn't ask for. At this point, I was so hungry, I am ready to eat. I dig in, and omg. The BBH was BLAND. This was not the BBH that I had last time and had me thinking about it every day! I was so sad. This BBH was bland, not tasty and noodles are hard. I was thinking we wasted a whole 2 hrs drive for this and waited over an hour to even get it. Ughhhhh. I didn't even finish it. Last trip, I ate it down to the last drop. The kid came and apologized saying. it took so long and he wasn't sure what happened I told him it looks like they lost our order. It never takes this long to bring out soup. While we were sitting there, people who came in way after us ate and left. I looked at my phone and realized we got there at 1:20, food came out at 2:28. Wow. So , when the hubby went to pay, boss lady at the front, not only blamed the server and the kitchen, she didn't even discount or offer anything for the whole situation! She has this RBF, and said the servers handwriting was not legible. So instead of asking him, they just guessed. Wow. Over an hour for our food and she blamed it on her staff, instead of apologizing on their behalf and making it right. Sad to say, we will not be returning due to lack of consistency, professionalism, and manners. I can find better BBH close to home. Do better Trang Le family. Also, the condiments on the table were disgusting. The bottles of hoisin and sriracha had gunk all over it and looks like it was never wiped down. What happened since we ate here last? Was in town this last weekend. Craving pho has become my habit when I travel. Since my family didn't have any other objection, we decided to check this place out as it wasn't far from our hotel. Got there shortly after 7p, but was told we had to order take out as dinning room was closed. We ordered the XL pho combo, pho ga, this stir fried chicken dish and chicken chow mein. Our hotel was less than 10 min away, so we quickly went back and ate at the lobby of our hotel while it was still hot. I do have to say the XL pho was a good size as mine came in 2 containers. Overall, the soup for both mine and my son's pho ga had an interesting taste. It wasn't bad but also wasn't the traditional pho flavor. I tasted some of my wife's stir fry chicken dish as it was too spicy for her when we specially asked for no spice for her dish. Overall, it tasted fine on all dishes. But it was more of the Americanized version than being more traditional. Now, I'm comparing to the many Vietnamese in Texas as we do have several pockets of Vietnamese neighborhoods in the DFW metroplex. One thing I would say is the service was very friendly. But the fact my wife's dish was too spicy when it shouldn't have, and overall taste was just OK, this would be a solid 3 stars. read more

Wee set out on Tuesday to go to our usual Pho place in Broken Arrow, but unfortunately it was closed on Tuesday, and we weren't aware...luckily my Elite wife came to the rescue. She said she had seen this restaurant on Yelp and it had a lot of vegetarian options. (I'm on a vegetarian kick right now). I was hesitant at first, but with my heart set on Pho, I caved and we went, and I'm so glad we did! The restaurant is located in the strip mall across from Wal-Mart and McAlister's. We weren't aware it was here, but it is good sized on the inside, and there is a lot of room between tables, which I appreciate. The service was friendly as well. The menu has a lot of offerings, and they have a HUGE selection for vegetarian. Probably the biggest I've seen in a restaurant. We ordered the veggie egg rolls and I got the veggie Pho (veggie broth with noodles and mixed veggies). The egg rolls were nice and crispy and very hot. The inside was packed to the brim with amazing flavor, veggies and a nice mix of noodle. It was served with a sweet chili sauce on the side. This was my first time having a veggie Pho, and I was worried it may not have the flavor of a beef Pho. My worries melted away as soon as I tasted the broth. It was UH-MAZING! Actually more flavorful and delicious than any beef broth I've ever had. It was piping hot and the medium size was plenty big to fill me up. I also appreciate the sprouts, jalapenos, lime, cilantro and basil that is served along with your Pho to include. I can't wait to come back and try out the other menu items, but it's going to be hard not to get the veggie Pho again, because it was SO good. Looks like we found ourselves a new go to! read more

I sadly have to update my previous review. In the past year it seems Trang Le has changed their recipe or sources different ingredients. I truly loved trang Le and it was my go to pho restaurant in Tulsa, but it's unfortunately not the same anymore. In the past year, I have gone 5 separate times and each time my Pho bowl has been soooooo oily. And not fish oil, which I love, but more like a tasteless vegetable or olive oil. This oil sits on top of the broth and coats your lips and mouth with every sip. I have had pho from all over the country, and it's genuinely my favorite food, but I've never experienced an oily broth like this in my life. Also, the noodles have been super soft, almost falling apart, and not at all chewy like they should be. They also have a really unpleasant aftertaste. The only redeeming quality is the taste/quality of the meat. This review hurts to write, as I genuinely loved coming to Trang le for years. But after five visits with the same experience, I think I have to part ways as a customer. read more

Definitely a new (but not new) fave! I've been to their relatives restaurants (Binh Le' and Ri Le') and love all their dishes. It's been quite some time but I will say the Deluxe Bun Cha Gio did not disappoint. There was cooked beef, chicken, and shrimp a top a bed of rice noodles, accompanied by lettuce, a scant bit of shredded carrot and small chooped cucumber bits with crushed peanut sprinkle topped off with a chopped eggroll and sweet potato, all served with a side fish sauce to pour on top(which I love and always order extra because I'm saucy like that!) If you're like me and consider even a little bit of lettuce on your plate a salad regardless of the the amount of stuff you accompany it with, this is by far my favorite "salad" ever, even though that's not what it is. Authentic Vietnamese food. The pho here is comforting, flavorful and hearty. The broth takes on a darker color than what you'd traditionally see for pho, but the flavors are all there. Meat options are rare steak, brisket, tendon and tripe. You can ask for any combination of those to be in your bowl. The rare steak and brisket are phenomenal. The flavors are fresh and very pronounced, the meat is juicy and tender, and the brisket has some pieces of fat on the fringes for additional flavor. The noodles are a bit thick for my preference, but they're still good. They're long, firm, and great for slurping. Bowls come in small, medium, large, or extra large sizes. The portions for each size are very generous. The deluxe bun cha gio is another great option if you don't want pho. It's a bowl of vermicelli rice noodles upon which sliced egg rolls, beef, chicken, whole shrimp, crispy sweet potatoes and vegetables are placed. A side of fish sauce is given to drizzle over everything. Obviously, there's a lot of flavors and textures going on inside this bowl, but everything works well together. It's best to mix everything so you get a bit of everything with each bite. All the proteins are tender and juicy; the veggies, sweet potato and egg rolls provide a change in texture, and the fish sauce adds the umami element to the dish. The banh bot loc and banh beo are good appetizers to start with. The banh bot loc is a small, chewy tapioca dumpling filled with shrimp. It's garnished with some sliced green onions and fried onions for a crunch. The banh beo is another small cake made from rice and tapioca flour that's steamed. It's not as sticky or chewy as the banh bot loc and comes topped with minced shrimp. The banh beo here is a lot thicker than what they should be, but they're still pretty good. Service is quick, friendly, and efficient. They do a great job remembering the orders and are attentive to the table's needs. read more

Ordered the pho with rare steak and meatballs. The broth was amazing and probably the best I've had. The same with the portion size- huge! Plenty of the accompaniments and everything was fresh. The meatballs were A plus! Unfortunately I have to deduct a star for the rare steak. It was not the correct cut. It should be thinly sliced filet but this had to be some cheaper, leaner cut because it was very chewy and unpleasant. Very disappointed in the rare steak they use. On my last visit I ordered the Bun Cha Gio with all soy meat. It was amazing! All of the faux meats had really good flavor - my husband was jealous of my choice. It's a big bowl of noodles, soy "meat", fried sweet potatoes (holy moly, I loved these), veggies, and lettuce with a sweet chili style sauce on the side. Really filling and flavorful. Hubby ordered his usual veggie pho and was happy with it. We both really enjoy the veggie broth more than the regular one, but the regular pho broth is good too. The largest size pho is L-A-R-G-E so only order that size if you want leftovers, are sharing, or are super hungry. The negative would be they are not super easy to work with over the telephone. Also they play the strangest music during lunch hours, (like heavy-metal or dub step) As far as my favorite meal I would say the chicken bun cha gio -or they call it deluxe salad for easy pronunciation. Had this for the first time yesterday, the Pho was the BEST I've ever had, hands down. It was all very fresh - the bean sprouts, cilantro, jalapeños and the chicken taste like it was just pulled off a fresh full cooked chicken. AND the rice noodles were thick and sturdy, cooked to perfection. I'm giving a 4 stars because of the service. It wasn't "busy busy" in there and it took 5 minutes to be greeted, then around another 8ish just to bring water. Literally my favorite part of TL. TL offers an abundance of authentic Viet food I rarely find in other Viet restaurants in Tulsa. They have all of my favorite noodle soup items (bun rieu, banh canh cua, bun bo hue, and of course, pho), other items like banh bot loc and banh xeo that I just don't see in restaurants in general, while providing your staple Asian restaurant dishes as well. My friend and I both ordered bun rieu, a noodle soup we both grew up loving from our parents, and we tried their spring rolls and banh bot loc as appetizers. The appetizers were both good, but we loved the bun rieu we ordered the most. It smelled like what we were used to growing up with the dish but had a bit of a sweeter broth because of the crab meat in it. Yum!! So I've been here a couple times with a friend that recommended it and once with my family..I'm now addicted! If this was closer to my house I'd be here a lot. My husband loved the pho and I usually get the bun cha gio which is the best I've had in Tulsa area so far. I got a small bowl of the Mi wonton and next time I'll get it without the egg noodles. It adds nothing to the dish. The broth and wontons are delish on their own. My 9 year old was adventurous and ordered the Bun Bo Hue; he enjoyed the spiciness of the dish. Ordered it without the "pork pancakes" when we found out it was pigs blood, eek.. Place is clean, prices are very reasonable, friendly service and tasty food.
