I had a Gordita con pastor to go. It was delicious. Service was great, salsa was delicious!

Trankys is one of the most highest rated taco spots in the area and I decided to give them a try since I was in the area. There were a couple of people in front of us and a lot of people came in not long after. I got tacos with barbacoa, fajita de res, Al pastor, and chicharron. They came topped with onions and cilantro, with some lime and sautéed onions on the side. Their tacos were juicy yet the meat were also a bit dry. They have 2 different salsas as well but they didn't really add much to the tacos for me flavor wise. I had high hopes for this place, but there are better taco places in town

I have not been here for a few years although I think about this place all the time when I am in the mood for authentic street tacos. I went for lunch and saw that the place had not changed. Nor had the food. The restaurant remains modest, but it is clean. I had the 3 taco plate again with chicken, brisket, and ground beef. You get sides of beans and rice. Everything was very tasty, actually, everything was delicious. The tacos are street size but pack a ton of flavor. The homemade salsas are excellent. Prices are very reasonable. My 3 taco plate was only $10.99. Service was good as my lunch was served quickly. This place is a winner and one that I will return again soon.

Tacos are good, but the outer tortilla had become stiff, chewy. I don't like the "Mexican rice". I rarely see rice like this- seems ground up and clumpy. Not much flavor. My guess is if it's the kind you grew up eating you will love it. I had the bean soup instead of refried beans. It had cut up hot dogs in it. Like the rice, if you grew up eating that style you will likely love it. I'm not a fan. There were two hot sauces available- red and green. Green was on the mild side and the red warmer. As for service, it's 5 stars all the way. Very nice staff, helpful. Ambiance is typical of a taqueria in a strip center in an industrial area- plain, all business. The table could have been cleaned better.

I passed by here and decided to stop and get a couple of Barbacoa tacos ..I've had many street tacos in my time. But these are the best Barco tacos I've ever had will definitely be back.

Just NOOOOO! The fish tacos had a musty stale taste! Called my order in, came to pick up and they we're still making them. Perfect, hot food. WRONG! It wasn't even luke warm!!! Huh?? Ordered a side of chips and queso, EVEN THE QUESO wasn't any sort of hot. That's CRAZY! Just a hard PALE NO! Queso was good tho just cold and SMALL AS CRAP not worth 5 bucks AT ALL. Soooo odd.

Tranky's Tacos is by far THE BEST tacos in the DFW, and it's not even close!! I've tried over 20+ tacos places and have been generally disappointed by the lack of flavor and gentrification of the cuisine in this area. Guys, gals, and non-binary pals, buckle your seat belts because eating tacos at Tranky's is GUARANTEED to rock your world! The place is a family-run business, and the daughter was able to walk us through the menu and the cooking process. They braise their meats for hours, and everything is cooked fresh. I got an assortment of tacos (barbacoa, fajita de res, carnitas, and al pastor), and they all did not disappoint. I will say that the braised meats were by far OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD and are must-tries when you come. They were so juicy and packed with flavor. The corn tortillas were handmade and had amazing structural integrity despite the juiciness of the meat (the worst is when the corn tortillas are old and break while you eat them). My favorite personally was the carnitas! The price is on the higher side (~$2.75 per taco), but these tacos were worth every single penny. I live 30+ minutes away from this place, but you best believe I'll be at this establishment weekly.

I was greeted immediately (by the chef) when I entered. I was given a sample of the agua frescas as I was unsure which one I wanted. The prices were appropriate and the portion sizes were quite nice for the prices. The taco salad was quite sumptuous and the chicken tacos were served with cilantro, onions, and lime. The sauce went quite well with the taco, and had the right amount of kick. The Agua de Jamaica was a nice surprise. It wasn't abundantly sweet and was a good price for the size. I definitely recommend this place, and I will go again if I'm in this area.

We were very pleasantly surprised. It's even better in my opinion. The people are very warm and friendly. The food is really delicious. I love that they bring not only good salsa with their fresh hot chips, but also a tomatillo sauce and a black bean dip. We've now eaten there several times. The taco meat has a nicely charred flavor. The tamales were very good. (I'm picky about my tamales. I've tried their ranchero sauce, chili con carne, and sour cream sauce. None of them disappoint. Their rice isn't dry like it is at many other Tex-Mex places. And their $5.00 all day frozen margaritas are worth it. We usually go for the lunch specials that run until 4:00. They don't have mole on the menu, yet. I'm looking forward to their future specials. In this day and age where it's hard to keep a restaurant open, I really hope this one survives. It's not fancy, but the food and service make it worth it. And I'm a picky person when it comes to spending money on food I don't make myself.

Unfortunately, since the ownership change, the experience just hasn't been the same. The customer service is still decent, and I genuinely enjoy their spicy Mexican martini -- that's honestly the main reason I still stop by. However, the food quality has noticeably declined. Over the past year, I've experienced stomach issues after eating here, which had never happened to me before under the previous ownership. I'm not sure if it's a change in ingredients, preparation methods, or sourcing, but something is clearly different. It's disappointing because this used to be a go-to spot. I truly hope the new management takes a closer look at the food quality and consistency. There's a strong history here, and it would be great to see it restored.

There was a 45-minute wait, due to how many people were crammed into downtown, trying to find places to eat. I had wanted to come here for a while, and suggested coming here to my girlfriend, who admittedly, "doesn't like Tex-Mex" (I know, I know), and after encouraging her to give it a try, we were pleasantly treated to some very high quality food in a nice environment. Despite being woefully understaffed, to the point that they were out of bowls for the salsa and started serving it in to-go containers, the staff was friendly and helpful, with the manager still making the rounds to introduce himself and check on people's experiences. I really liked the chips & salsa, and so did my girlfriend who is very spice sensitive. We had the, "Julio's Tilapia", which was, "Pan-seared tilapia topped with fresh sautéed baby spinach and jumbo grilled shrimp, finished with a silky spicy chipotle cream sauce. Served with rice and a crisp side salad." and the "GUIS-Ohhhhhh!", which was, "Traditional Mexican beef stew. Served with avocado slices, tomatoes, lettuce, & tortillas". The food was delicious, and I really thought the jumbo shrimp was great, and the Guisoooo (carne guisada) was deeply flavored, and very rich in a way I haven't had before. My girlfriend made sure to flag down the manager to point out what an exceptional meal she thought it was, and mentioned several times how blown away she was, and I quote her as saying, "I was expecting one thing, but I did not expect a foodie experience!". We sat at the bar area, which while not large, has taller tables which is helpful for me. The restaurant handled the huge volume of people well, and the food quality was great.
