TransCo did work on my Mazda transmission and car was never the same. As a woman I can't recommend this place unless you want to be mansplained. Not willing to do what was necessary to fix the problem. Finally my mechanic found a transmission leak after they did the work and insisted it was fine and they addressed that after multiple calls and visits. But after they worked on car shifting was sticky and sometimes totally froze up. Sold the car. read more

The guy at the front counter should not work with the public. I walked in as referred by someone to help me find a tool for a repair I was doing. I stood quietly and waited as this person at the counter was discussing a repair with a customer. He seemed OK then he asked me what i waned I explained another shop suggested I come in and see if I could buy, borrow or rent a stupid $2 to $5 tool. I could not find one at Napa, O'Rileys, Auto zone, Smothers, and one other transmission shop as their mechanic was off due to illness. The guy went crazy on me. I explained I have a Chevy 5 speed transmission and was putting a new clutch in and needed this tool to center my clutch so when I torque the bolts the clutch lines up and my transmission goes in. He says How do I know which one you want. I have a bucket full, and not one with your car or name on it? its a common tool. Its used on Chevy S10 pick ups all years with 5 speed transmissions. On Chevy Camero's, Ford Mustangs, AMC products, and also Jeep..... So why did the guy treat me Like I was asking him to make it rain, and or like I wanted a miracle from GOD? I wouldn't let them touch my car, and anyone who does your a fool. if he represents this company they need to replace him as he has been working too long.... read more

Transco is the bomb! Dave and Jason really took care of me in my time of need. My Honda's tranny pooped out, so I had it towed to the dealer for diagnosis. Dealer tried to tell me that the problem was related to using wrong transmission fluid, which didn't sound right. So, gave the guys at Transco a call and they took care of it from there. Dave towed my car from the dealer, diagnosed the problem, and had the car ready to go when I got back from my trip. Beware of the specials. I made an appointment to get my transmission fluid changed. I found a special on their website, $114 for a change plus filter. When I arrived for my appointment, I was told that all the racks were full and they were very busy, I remarked that this was the reason I made the appointment to avoid a long wait. Then I was told that the "special" was $144, but it did not apply to my vehicle because I had to have synthetic fluid which was $198. They ended up getting it done within a couple of hours, but I was frustrated about the false adverting about the price. read more

I just spent $10,174. having my transmission rebuilt after Transco botched their rebuild job. I have only put 12,337 miles on my vehicle since their rebuild. Transco ruined the case by drilling out the pinion, had only 5 frictions in the B-2 clutch, K-3 drum and K-2 drum, and the check ball vent was smashed because they used the wrong size shims. The shop that rebuilt my transmission this time said they were amazed it lasted as long as it did. If you have a German transaxle don't let these guys touch it. They are incompetent. read more

Each day I drive my 1992 Dodge Cummins.. I have a smile on my face! The fellas as Transco rebuilt my transmission. Apparently, this is the third on this 450K mile vehicle, but the second in my ownership. I appreciate the good advice about how to reinforce this transmission based on what I use it for. This is a work truck, a beast of burden, used to pull heavy equipment trailers and farm related tasks. I was wary of "hot rod" parts since my goals were reliability and fuel economy, not doing smokey burnouts, "rolling coal", and other juvenile activities. Dave assured me that the reinforcements and shift kit would result in a longer lasting unit, AND my fuel economy is up about 2MPG (from 13 to 15MPG in town). I'm sorry to say I've worked with other shops that don't stand behind their work and are no heroes to me.. but these guys are true "stand-up" men. Nice having strong brakes on the truck for the first time also.. thanks fellas. read more

I recently had the transmission in my VW go out, and took a chance, letting my 'fingers do the walking'. I could not be any more pleased or impressed with the professionalism and customer service demonstrated by Transco. The estimate was about what I expected, so I released the work. I received a call later that day, informing me of a possible leak that would require sealing for a small fee, and that they wanted my authorization before they started. $50 on a $1600 job may seem trivial, but I've been surprised before w/ unexpected charges at other places, and was greatly appreciated. The car was finished ahead of schedule, and even w/ the additional work, the total was less than quoted! On top of that, Transco has a policy to have the customer bring the vehicle back after 15 days to check the install for any problems, which really filled me w/ confidence. A very positive experience, and would heartily recommend them to any one needing transmission service! read more

Wow- an auto repair shop I can absolutely trust! My '08 Saturn never had problems until last week when I could not shift gears. I didn't know what was going on, so I really wanted to be able to trust the shop I was going to have AAA tow it to because once it was there, it was there and would have to be towed again if I didn't pay the place do the work. AAA would tow my Saturn to its nearest facility, but there were no reviews on the place and it wasn't a member of the Better Business Bureau. Fortunately that BBB research lead me to Transco in Santa Rosa - a BBB Accredited business since 1999 with zero complaints! Lots of 5-star yelp! reviews and now I'm a very satisfied customer too. QUALITY WORK, HONEST MECHANICS My 1996 Honda was having noise issues in higher speeds so I took it to a local shop and they said that the transmission was making the noise, and recommended that I take it to Transco. I took my car there and told them about what I learned and dropped it off for a diagnostic. I came back an hour later and the owner Dave told me that it was not the transmission after all but bad wheel bearings and the brakes needed to be replaced. I could not have been more relieved that I didn't need a new transmission, and that he was HONEST with me! He gave me a very reasonable price quote for the work and when I agreed he was very enthusiastic and told me he would make it run like new. I mean.. he made ME excited to get the work done! I am very pleased to say that after one week my car runs like new as promised! I couldn't be happier with the customer service and the work done to my car. Really impressed with their work and honest suggestions on what I have to have done right away and what repairs can wait. Don't have a lot of money to spend on car repairs. Took car in for transmission work a few years ago and it's still going strong. I've had belts, lights, brakes and other minor repairs done over the years. They have always been helpful in showing me what needs to be repaired, either by writing it down or showing me a picture of the part on my car that was bad. BE CAUTIOUS when choosing to do have your vehicle repaired at this shop! I brought my vehicle in to have them diagnose the check engine light. After having them change the oxygen sensor and $438 later (just to replace the O2 sensor), the check engine came back on. They then recommended that I have the EGR system reamed out to remove carbon build up. Three weeks and $735 later, the check engine light came back on. I bring the car back to them and was told it was the SAME code. This time they suggested that I replace the EGR temperature sensor. Not only did they keep my vehicle for another 3 weeks because they needed to order the part, etc. they then tell me that the new temp sensor tested the same as the existing. They said they had to go deeper to clean more carbon in the EGR system and charged me another $229. REALLY?! So I paid them. Do the math..$1400 later and being in their shop more in the past two months than being driven on the road, my car died at an intersection after a hard start. Giving Dave the benefit of the doubt, I brought my car back to Transco one more time. They couldn't diagnose the NEW SAFETY issue and recommended that I bring my car to a specialist. They wanted to refer me to another shop, however, using my better judgment I declined their referral and took my car to a REAL mechanic. My new mechanic found a newly broken camshaft sensor along with an existing coolant leak. I had both problems fixed and learned that the camshaft sensor is in the same location the all of the work that Transco performed on the past two invoices. Not only did I pay Transco almost $1,000 in an attempt fix the recurring check engine light issue which they could not, apparently I paid them to create another issue! Being a reasonable person, I decided to present Dave with the invoice from my new mechanic and the broken camshaft sensor, seeking compensation for the replacement of the broken part plus labor. I made several attempts to give Dave the opportunity to make it right and he failed at every attempt. If you care about the safety of financial well-being of your family, DO NOT BRING YOUR VEHICLE TO THIS SHOP!!! read more

I bought a truck off someone and was having transmission issues after the first week. They had put a bandaid over some problems and I spent a lot of hours and money tracking down the problem. I wish I had taken it to Transco first. Within a minute or two of speaking with Dave, I felt comfortable that I had made the right decision bringing it here. He explained a few things in a very concise manner that I could understand and sold me the right part, the firs time, at a very reasonable price. As I drove home from an assignment, I knew I was having transmission issues. As a girl I know that when I put on the gas and the engine revs, am not in gear. Could only inch my way towards home. Then I see TRANSCO transmission! right there in front of me. Dave noticed the back of my car was covered with a layer of greasy stuff..said transmission oil. He put some fluid in so I could be on my way and make an apt for service. The fluid was running out of the engine as fast as he was putting it in. They fit me into their busy day around customers who had appointments as Dave said could not drive it with that level of a leak.
