Ok this ride is similar to the Spiderman ride at Universal Island of Adventure in Orlando, Florida. The only difference is this isn't Spiderman, but the Transformers. You're in a car trying to save the world (or city) from the bad guys. You're up close and personal with the action, but of course in 3D. Everything in Universal, it seems, is in 3D. Tons of action, and you're bouncing from one scene to the next. It can get confusing, but its a ride, so don't think so much. In the end, you win because you're the good guys, and commended for a job well done. The ride is not just a simulation but it moves, so you're not just sitting there. Concept is good, but wish it was more complete like Spiderman is in Florida. read more

Now let me tell you a secret about the waiting here--go first thing when the park opens, and head to this ride which is at the "bottom" lot in the same area as The Mummy and Jurassic Park. You won't have to wait, we went during spring break and rode it twice in a row without a wait. The people who work this ride get into character which I like too. If you sit in the front you feel the fire and water more-yes Fire and Water! As noted you can meet characters outside the ride, Bumblee and Optimus and Megatron (please don't quote me on their names!) who make appearances every thirty minutes. This is the best ride in the theme park! The wait time was about 30 minutes but as you go inside, they have all these flat screens showing video clips, audio over the speakers, and all the flashy warning lights to keep you from being bored. The ride seats 8 people, 4 in front and 4 in back. You want to get the front row instead of the back. For me, I'm short so if there's a tall person in front of me, I'm going to be seeing the back of their head the whole ride. Yeah, it's not as fun that way. The ride could cause dizziness and aches and pain for some people. I left with a sore arm (grabbing the pole too tight) and neck (too much back and fourth movement) but it's fine. It was a fun experience and I would totally do it again. Next time, I may just stretch out my muscles a little bit before hopping in. read more

Loving the ride. My kids are really into Transformers and "saving the world". If you come first thing in the morning the line is about 20 mins (we came Saturday morning and ran down to the lower lot) They also have parent switch so you don't have to wait in line twice with the same child. I'm not really a fan of Transformers even though I've seen most of the movies. Because of that, I didn't understand the plot of the game but you don't need to understand it to enjoy the ride. It's a high speed action sequence in 3D, it's the most adrenaline rush of any of the screen rides in my opinion. They spin you around and backwards and forwards, and the whole time you're helping a transformer bot "save the world". Lots of fun. It's the second most popular ride so make sure to do this straight after Harry Potter World. It opens at 10am and there is no lineup if you get there on time. You breeze straight through. If you do end up waiting, it's not a big deal as they have set pieces and a backstory that you get to listen to to get into the mindset of the ride. I highly recommend this ride for a major fan of the Transformers. read more

You get to watch the action in 4-D, so the ride moves and you may feel the heat or splashes on you. This is a 12 seater (4 for each row) 3D ride found on the lower lot of Universal Studios. You get to ride with one of the autobots as you try to transport the all spark. It's a very high speed thrilling action pack ride. There is never a slow moment because you are surrounded by the decepticons! But don't worry, your fellow autobots are there to help you. read more

This is getting 3 stars because it is a fun ride but I personally am not a big fan of 3-D rides. I prefer the traditional roller coaster and find that this ride is probably more enjoyable for children (especially if they don't like traditional roller coasters). If you have young kids/teens then they would probably love this. The line can be long but I went on a weekday on a non-break/holiday so there weren't many lines anywhere. read more

Awright so this ride has been around for awhile now. It may be getting old for some but not for those of us who love the franchise, especially the movies. Keep it coming. The US Soldiers give you the AllSpark to hang on to for safe keeping. You will find out that's not what it really is. You can experience that yourself. Here's where it begins. All of a sudden it's fast and furious (is that another ride coming) as you battle alongside Optimus Prime and Bumble Bee. More like as they protect you from getting blown to smithereens. Loved it loved it. It's probably the closest I will feel to being a superhero. The action sequences are uncanny twisting, turning, falling, flying every motion possible that is nonstop action all the way. Every time you feel like you are about to meet your end, one of them comes infront to take the shot. I could've taken it but thanks for the assist. Don't you hate it when someone takes all the fun? I've been to Universal Studios many times. I've came with and without my kids. My daughter, as many times as we've been here had never been on transformers, and let me just say, she's now a fan. She wanted to go on again and again. This is a 3D and live motion ride. Please note, if you get motion sickness, don't attempt to ride this ride. It is based loosely on the first Transformers movie, but you don't have to had watched it to be a fan of this ride. It feels like you're actually in the movie, and in an actual car. Curves, turns, hammering down on the gas to go faster, falling off of a building, it has it all. I do believe there are height requirements of 48", but if you and your child are tall enough, I definitely recommend this ride. 80% of the time there is a very long line, so it might be something you choose to do right when you get there. An alternative option is the single rider line. If you and the other members don't mind sitting next to strangers, this is a great alternative option. Everyone working here is dressed in military camouflage, and some of them act like they are drill sgts. They do it all in a playful way, whether it's telling you to move, move, move to load the car, or asking the kids if they are prepared for the mission. Oh and don't forget your government issued glasses to help you see better and protect your eyes. (Just really cool 3D glasses.) With the 3D visual effects, and the feel of the ride, it's a definite reason to go to Universal Studios. With the buy a day get the year free, we can go on it whenever my kids want. We love it, and as long as you don't go right after lunch, I think you'll love it too. Please note, that the characters are available for pictures right outside the transformers gift shop a few times a day. My kids love that too!!! read more

On my first visit to Universal the line for this ride was 125+ mins - granted it was the middle of the day, but good gracious 2 hours! Yikes! So I made it a point to check out the ride on a return visit. Fast forward a week. I came to the park super early and headed to the lower lot where the Transformers ride was located. There was no wait so I actually got to go twice! BTW, you can bypass a substantial part of the line if you're willing to go the single rider's route. They hand you a pair of 3D glasses and you hop into a car to stop Megatron's evil ploy to take over the world. To be honest, I wasn't really blown away by the ride. It was fun, but nothing to ride home about. Onward Freedom Fighters! read more

Kinda surprised at the high marks this ride has. It really wasn't something I enjoyed. I noticed a theme at Universal. Video screens and shaking you around, and 3-D glasses. It seems that's what most of the rides entailed. You'll wait in a long line to sit in a car and watch a 3-D show while Transformers fight. That's about it. I left thinking I just wasted my time, but then again I wanted to visit all the rides. Or most at least. I wasn't impressed, but you might be. read more

Well, if you've ever wondered what it was like to be in a Michael Bay film...this ride is for you! You zip around from 3D screen to 3D screen all while being bombarded with so many explosions and robots smashing into each other that it's near impossible to understand what is going on. It's just loud and testosterone filled. Just like a Michael Bay film! I am tired of Universal relying so heavily on projected motion rides, but I do like how this ride also integrated physical elements within the track of the ride. It's unique (well, was until they added the Harry Potter ride) which is nice, but you're moving around so much, you can never really enjoy it. read more

Best 3D simulation ride...ever! The line: Themed out and loaded with Blu-ray, large screens and buttons that look important. The extras: Good quality 3D glasses that stay on through out the ride. The health factor: Not for the faint at heart, this one will shake you up and spit you out. There is a certain amount of looking up that may be tedious for folks with neck and back pain. Maybe do some stretching before hand? Highly recommend for Transformers fans and adventure seekers. read more

The 3D was quite impressive and I love the subtle wind blowing and the fast water splash that made it more realistic. This definitely caters a specific audience. It's all about living out as a robot fighting. It is not a roller coaster ride. If you are looking for that, check out the Mummy ride. Do wish the ride was longer. It's easily a ride you can go for many times in a row. Pro: Most advance ride in the park. Ride very similar to the Simpsons except has added 4d experience and actual building structure design in the ride. Impressive some of the 3d scene such added heat effect. Staff actually wear cammies, feelt more like in the movie setting. Cons: Longest waiting time in the park, can be over 60 minutes during typical peak hours. (longest wait line i ever see in this park) 3d is good but not the best i had see, is similar to dark of the moon. Ride can be more rough than the mummy. The scene is like different ending of the first movie,. not like new mini sequel like terminator 3d Overall, if you like 3d and roller coaster ride or enjoy the simpsons ride, this is definite for you. Transformers 3D was probably my favorite ride/attraction at Universal. It's a wild, spine cracking, twisting and turning 3D adventure. It was my daughter's birthday so we were fortunate enough to be given a couple fast passes. This enabled us to skip was was a pretty large line. The ride itself was thrilling and well worth a 20-30 minute wait, however. My 8 year old son especially enjoyed it. Highly recommended! read more

This was the ride #3 for us. Approx wait time: 10min (actual: 2 mins) Best ride/experience I've been on period! So amazing and realistic. The first time I rode it I was so overwhelmed and literally couldn't figure out what was going on or how they were making it look and feel so real. Pieces of metal feel like they are flying all over the place and made me flinch a couple times haha. A tire comes rolling right into your car and goes flying over your head, duck! At one point an autobot fires a rocket that gets launched straight at you and literally feels like it's going to hit your face then explodes and you feel a blast of heat and visual fire. In one part you are in "free fall" until one of the transformers catches you and saves you. Another fun part is when you get "hooked" by an autobot and get thrown through the inside of a skyscraper and it actually feels like you are drifting through the building. At the end of the ride Optimus Prime gets right in your face and thanks you for your efforts to save humanity, pretty cool and you're welcome! After a couple more rides I understood how they created the effects and realism. Overall AMAZING 3D experience. Can't imagine what the future holds for 3D rides. The only ride I can say I've done that comes close to how cool this was would be X at Magic Mountain, but that's a full blown roller coaster adrenaline rush type ride, this as an experience was even more incredible. read more

I had the advantage of riding this a couple of times before it opened to the public and so I did not have to wait in any lines. I did walk through the line and I love that it is indoors (real nice in the summer) and there is lot's to watch and play with in line. There are buttons and things to push and play with, kids will love this. The staff is dressed in fatigues and really plays up military angle. Loved that they stay in character the entire time. Now the ride, it's a simulator but it is on tracks so I think the flow for this ride will be much better than say the Simpson's. It seats 12 to a car and I landed in the same seat each time, so I can't talk about where to sit. This ride is an amazing combination of movement, film and in your face special effects. You are, within seconds, in the center of a Transformers film. Having the advantage of using the entire sound stage, Optimus and the gang are FULL SIZED and in your face. The cutest thing happened on one of my rides, a little girl in front of me when coming face to face with Optimus says in a little voice "I love you!!", it was adorable. She was meeting her hero. This ride is a lot of fun and definitely worth experiencing. Don't miss the gift shop associated with it, the staff there are in full Army mode as well and break into marching chants at the drop of a hat. It's Hollywood everyone is an actor. read more

Located on the bottom level next to Jurrasic Park and Revenge of the Mummy ride, this is one of my favorite rides at Universal Studios. Based on the popular movie franchise, it makes you feel like your in real gallactic battle. It combines the popular theme park attraction of Indiana Jones and Simpson Ride with vehicle-mounted motion platform simulator while displaying 3D images of Transformers characters on to a huge screen. In addition to the spectacular 3D graphics, the live action special effects of sound, smoke and heat (to simulate an live explosion) are truly heart pounding and so realistic. Even the cool movie props, abundant flat TV screens and monitors inside are amazing as it role plays and reneacts movie scenes from the Transformer movie preparing you for your action packed ride. Due to the popularity of the ride, the wait time and lines can be very long. I suggest you get here early in the morning or purchase VIP access. Don't forget to take a pictures with Optimus Prime and Megatron Live Character photo shoot near entrance. read more

The Autobots are here to protect the All Spark from the Decepticons. You can help the Autobots at NEST Headquarters at Transformers The Ride 3D at Universal Studios Hollywood. Since debuting in May 2012, this is one of the biggest rides to be in Los Angeles and set a new standard for Universal Studios Hollywood. Located on the end of the lower lot where the former Backdraft and current Jurassic Park, you will get to help protect the All Spark from the Decepticons. Unlike the sister theme park, Universal Studios Orlando, the exterior design is more a painted exterior with Optimus Prime fighting with Megatron. However, there are Autobot & Megatron character photo opportunities before you walk in to make up for the exterior design. The Queue is pretty cool when you walk in, but don't look too well in detail. It may ruin your experience. By reading this, you will get very curious. There is one room that I am not fond of. I call it, "The Seizure Room". You will find this room with flashing lights of red and blue. It feels like you were surrounded by police. The queue keeps your attention since you don't want to be staring at nothing. You will see videos from the movies and see some movie props. The wait times can get very packed during the summer. I've seen 120 minute wait times. You can utilize the Single Rider Line or if you purchased the Front-of-the-Line Pass to shorten the wait. For those who are not tall or old enough to ride, you can use the Child Switch area and play in the children's area and watch some Transformers Cartoons. Before you get on the ride, NEST personnel will give you your Safety Goggles. I won't go into details about the ride, but its very detailed with physical props that blend with the screens. I sometimes wonder if you could put the option of: Which Side Are You On? The Autobots or Decepticons. I would see myself loyal to: **GARBLED** Transformers set the new standard at Universal Studios Hollywood. That means a bigger expectation for Universal Studios Hollywood. When things are one of a kind they deserve 5 stars. My body went into "fight or flight" mode as soon as Evac peeled out with the All Spark. Universal does a good job building the story for the 3-D experience while you wait in line. We've become jaded as a culture when we're unwilling to be entertained in line for 60 minutes to be immersed into imagination. Worth the wait if you spend the time in N.E.S.T. getting in o character. Takes King Kong 3-D to to another (previously unfathomable) level. read more

Currently, this is my most favorite ride. It is really unbelievable what Universal Studios has created in this ride. The quality of the 3D is amazing and what I describe as surreal reality. Full of energy from the beginning and all your senses are oooed and awwwed to the max. Without giving away too much, they incorporated the air, heat and water as if it were "surreal reality". Lines are long on weekends and holidays! If you can weekday the trip, you should be able to get on in 30 min. At least the line incorporates buttons and switches that the kids can occupy themselves with and some videos/tv's along the wait. Usually, a character (Optimus, Bumblebee or Megatron) will be outside that you can take pictures with. If you are a Transformers fan and haven't experienced this ride, it'll blow your mind. Hands down, it beats Star Tours (IMO). read more

I love how everything is synchronized so you feel like you are a part of the experience with the water shooting at you and the flames to give you that missile experience. BIG TIP... if you are a party of 2 or group of 4 and don't care if you sit next to one another then use the single rider line. I managed to go on this ride twice in 40 minutes instead of waiting an hour to ride it once. read more

The Transformers The Ride 3D was a great ride. There was no line because we were there just after Universal Studios opened. I think this was the Back To The Future ride a long time ago because the way the ride moved had a very similar motion with the visuals except in 3D. The visuals were awesome and they definitely helped along with the whole experience. The ride was longer than others I've been to at Universal Studios and I wasn't expecting that but still great. This was definitely my favorite ride on my most recent visit to Universal Studios. If I had to wait a long time in line, then it would still be my favorite ride. I'd say it would be worth the wait. Transformers in 3D?!!.. Oh my! The larger than life visual and sound effects were amazing. A lot of movement just to warn you. And you may get water splashed on you. :) I'm not a huge 3D movie fan... but this ride is just long enough to enjoy it without over doing it. 3D in moderation is good. So what's not to like?!!...
