I was a little disappointed they got rid of Backdraft, but Transformers sure makes up for it! The wait on a Monday was about 50-60mins all day, but it was 30 min wait after 7pm. The line went pretty fast. I love how they have a tv screens and pseudo control panels on the wall so the kids can push, keeps them entertained a bit. This is a fun ride, I normally don't get motion sickness, but during this past trip, I wasn't feeling so good on all the rides :( The layout/concept is similar to the Harry Potter ride, except you're in car and not a "broom". If you or your kids like the Transformers, this ride will give you the experience you'd expect! You get jerked around, splashed, wind blown, and even fall off a building! I honestly feel an even better experience is meeting the actual Transformers outside of the ride! If you get a Deceptacon, they're the best! They rip on whoever is taking a picture with them and it's very funny!! My BF and stood on the side for a few minutes just listening to them make fun of adults AND kids...in a funny way. read more

Until Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey was built, Transformers was the most intense motion sim ride in Universal Studios. It's a jarring, tilting ride that whisks you and others in an Autopod between 3D high-definition video screens. Unlike the Harry Potter ride, you're not strapped in but held by a single pull bar because the Autobot pods never elevate more than a foot or so off the ground. You don't need to wear the 3D glasses, and if the ride becomes too intense, merely close your eyes for a few seconds. If the timing is right, you can take photos with costumed characters near the entrance. read more

The Transformers ride takes all the best technologies from Universal studios and creates an experience for transformers fans young and old through the streets right in the middle of the action. You sit in a car and move haphazardly from room to room and see it all go down on screen with fog and water effects. It feels very real especially with the 3d glasses. The line itself has many interesting pointa of interest and explains the story of the ride. I know adults with tattoos who grew up on transformers and kids who still play with transformers and all love this ride. This ride took the place of the Backdraft experience and the special effects show in the spund stage. While i miss both of those, this ride is a great replacement in the lower lot of Universal Studios. read more

This is one of my favorite rides at Universal Studios Hollywood! I know this one gets long wait lines but there was no line when we went. It's most likely because of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened a month ago so everyone just wants to try the Forbidden Journey 3D ride. It is a 3D ride. You're in a car with 3D glasses, computer simulated and you move around trying to save the city from the Decepticons. Lots of action and bouncing from one scene to another. You win in the end because you're on the good side and Optimus Prime commends you for a job well done. You can also take photos with the Transformers characters. I didn't do that since there was a mob of people doing that. Watching it from a distance was still cool though. read more

Even though the ride is new and still exciting, it still doesn't match up to the thrill of the Mummy Ride. What separates The Mummy and Transformers is that The Mummy is an actual ride, whereas Transformers is a 3D experience. If you utilize your peripheral vision, then you know you're not going anywhere and it kind of takes away from the ride. However, the action is great and if you don't utilize your peripheral vision, then you may get motion sickness from all the tossing and turning. For me, the best part is when Megatron fires a shot at you (via Time Crisis) and you high tail it out of there. The lines are ridiculously long, and the ride captains hustle you in as if it's a real evacuation. If you don't like being yelled at, then you better let them know. As far as the lines go, your best bet is to go through the "Single Riders" line. You'll spend far less time waiting, and you'll probably get ride with a few people from your party. But if you want to wait 45 minutes or more in line just so you can ride with your group, then I just shake my head at you. All my single riders, all my single riders... read more

I've been on a ride like this when I went to Busch Gardens Willamsburg, but when I came here to ride the Transformers ride, I felt so sick to my stomach that I wanted to puke on the people next to me... I didn't, but honestly, I could have, and would have felt bad, since I rode single rider, and didn't know them...haha. This is a cool fun attraction and is super fun with all the different videos. It's crazy that they can make you feel like you are doing such simple things like falling, flying, or being picked up just by throwing some wind fans at you and the different things on the screen. The Transformer movies are trash, but this is a really fun ride. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first rode this, but I was pleasantly surprised by how intense this ride gets. Honestly, I wouldn't expect anything less than intense from a ride that is based on Michael Bay's directing style. OK, my favorite ride here. I had gone twice, and if my group was willing to wait around, I would have gone more. This offers single rides, and there is barely, if any wait or line, so even if you are with others you could go here and get on faster and go multiple times without standing in line forever. This, to me, felt a lot more interactive even though it's like any other 3D ride at Universal. The ride jostles you around a lot (more so than other rides) because you're in a car trying to make a getaway and avoid all the fighting. It's stop and go at times, fast, but I didn't feel any motion sickness like at Harry Potter because there weren't a lot of ups/down and loops and spins as if trying to imitate magic. You're also constantly engaged, as there is not a quiet or slow moment at all. Decepticons were grabbing at the car and shaking us, there was a long simulated drop, a hot flame explosive came right at us, and I always cringed when i felt the heat on my face. The entire thing was loud and explosive. It really did feel like being in the movie, being part of the Autobot crew, and it was simply fun. Kids could either hate it or love it, I guess depending on their ages. Bumblebee added his fun music. Megatron does get up in your face and it's up close compared to the movie. The best part was walking around after and seeing "real transformers" outside for pics. Optimus and Bumblebee were out, and it was hilarious watching Optimus talk to the kids. read more

After months of biding my time (and waiting for the summer crowds to die down), I finally got to experience Transformers The Ride 3D. I'm a huge fan of The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man at Universal's Islands of Adventure in Orlando, but until this year, the left coast had nothing of its ilk. All I can say is it's about damn time! I'll admit that I was expecting a little more innovation. I mean, it's been 13 years since Universal debuted this ride technology in 1999. When you break it down, the rides are extremely similar and employ the same techniques. I actually prefer how Spider-Man combines real sets and props with on-screen action to create a cohesive adventure. Transformers relies almost solely on the on-screen footage, but it excels in that department. The feeling of movement is very realistic and feels silky smooth. Put simply, Transformers The Ride 3D is an incredible experience. And the fact that it's Transformers-themed autobotically makes it super-kewl. Trust me. This ride is worth the drive down to LA. read more

This is the best 3D ride I've experienced, sorry to the newly remade Star Tours. If you're at the park, make sure you check out this ride, it's a MUST!! The wait time said 50 minutes, but our wait time was about 35 minutes in actuality. They have a lot of large screens that play videos that keep you entertained while moving through the queue. The ride itself is great! It didn't leave me dizzy or nauseated did (as the Simpsons ride did). At one point there was a squirt of water, so beware. It's not terrible though and you won't leave soaking wet. I kept trying to figure out if we were just getting moved from one room to another, either way, just sit back and enjoy the thrill of the ride! read more

When I first rode this ride I didn't think I would be a fan but coming off the ride I wanted to ride it again. The entire ride is 3D and it is one of the longer rides at Universal Studios. The effects on thing is pretty cool and can physical feel heat and cold air and all the effects of this ride. If you have fast pass for this ride it is worth it as the lines can get long. This ride is also kid friendly. Front row seat is the best seat in the house! Back isn't so bad either to get the pano view! read more

Awesome ride... I didn't know what to expect, but it was way better than I expected, if that makes any sense... I actually felt like I was in the movie, sitting in a transformer, fighting alongside Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. The graphics were pretty cool. I would definitely ride it again if the wait wasn't more than 40 minutes! My kiddo is 6, and she would rather ride the Jurassic - but I would definitely choose this one! read more

If you guys have not been to Universal Studios Hollywood lately probably because there aren't that much to do, NOW, it's definitely the best time to revisit Universal to ride Transformers The Ride. Since the ride was having soft open since May 20, I was able to ride it about 14 times during my last several visits to Universal. Thanks goodness for the Annual Pass. Instead of Spiderman, we have Transformers. basically the ride layout is almost the same as Spiderman the ride over in Orlando. The building is 2 story high, make sure to keep an eyes out for the elevator lift that pull you up to the 2nd floor. There are some real props being used in the ride itself. The queue is immersive and very long like Indiana Jones Adventure at Disneyland. I even recorded the full walk-Through of the entire queue. There are a lot of buttons and switches to play around while you are walking and waiting in the queue. I've heard a lot of crap from people about this ride, but I went on it for the first time yesterday and thought it was pretty cool. Although not necessarily a "ride", it's still a fun experience and you really get to see all the cool and modern effects Universal puts into the 3D experience. My head kind of hurt after the ride though (and we went on the Simpsons ride after, which left me with a migraine for the rest of the day.) But this is a fun ride, and I don't get why people don't just go to the single rider line. It's like a 1 minute wait at most. I guess you miss out on all the command center and history that other people have raved about, but it beats waiting in a line any day. read more

RIDE #2 POSTED WAIT TIME: 20 MIN (approx. 10am) ACTUAL WAIT TIME: 8-10 MIN THE RIDE: this is a 3D ride, so be sure to grab your 3D glasses just before lining up to board the ride. this was another ride that resembled a vehicle and sat quite a few people, except that it was open at the top. i haven't actually seen any of these movies in their entirety, however, i know enough about the movie and premise that i recognize the plot and the goal behind this ride. we essentially were taken thru several movie scenes, where we partner with optimus prime and battle the evil deceptacon. the special effects were pretty cool, as there was bloodshed, where we riders were splashed with a few drops of water, and an explosion, where our vehicle was heated up for a few seconds. the 3D effects were also very good, as i did feel like i was a part of the movie, fighting the bad guys. as for the length of the ride, this one lasted more than 5 minutes and i did feel that it was a good length for a ride. while it wasn't a true roller coaster, we did move from scene to scene, and the vehicle had several sudden moves and shakes that made me feel like i was flying, falling, crashing, etc. this was definitely one of my favourite rides at universal. COMMENTS: as soon as you exit the tunnel for this ride, you can meet some of the transformers characters and have your photo taken with them. read more

This is one of the best rides at Universal Studios. When you are waiting in line they will start to assimilate you into the Transformers world and explain the whole struggle between the Autobots and the Decepticons and recruit you for the upcoming battle. The ride is a mix between the old fashion roller coaster ride but this time a virtual simulator is added into the mix. The ride itself stops at different locations along the route and puts you in the middle of a fight between the two sides. The 3D effects are top notch and the quality of the sounds makes you feel like you are really a part of the movie. If you go at the right time you will also see Bumble Bee, Optimus, or Megatron outside taking pictures. read more

I don't know where I've been, but I didn't even realize this was a new ride. We came to Universal Studios last week and my fella was all about trying this ride that I had never even heard of. We came here on a weekday, props to us for being smart. The line wasn't too bad, but my fella and I still opted for the single rider line since we are all about maximizing our time. It's not like we're going to be talking all the way through anyway. Two minutes after getting into line, we were on the ride. Lucky for us, we were seated next to each other. Double score. Right away, I was thoroughly impressed with this ride. Loved the animation and it held my attention throughout, which can be hard. The movements are all very realistic and there actually seemed to be a good story to go along with all the battling. Glad Universal is finally adding some more rides to entice me! read more

Wow, someone beat me to being 1st for this MOST CHOICE of thrill rides. Ok, the set up is a little cheesy. And the long lines will test the will of the strongest. But it's worth it, once you get inside the ride. Let me say that the effects team has outdone themselves on a lot of front for this ride. Let's get this out of the way, this is not one of the *traditional* roller coasters, but a simulation. A GREAT simulator that moves you in every which way. Effects were GREAT, the ride not being predictable was AWESOME, the 3D experience REALLY made you feel like you were in the environment. We are getting so much closer to Star Trek holodeck technology, and this ride proves we are headed in the right direction. I want to say more, but that would spoil most of the fun of discovery on the ride before Memorial Day weekend. All in all, DEFINITELY worth sitting through 2 hours of lines and mid-day Cali heat. This show is bad ass. Really unique and the best of its kind. Coming from a family that has been going to Disneyland for four years at least once a month, I can tell you not even the magic kingdom has anything like this. On the way in, there's tons of cool effects and visuals on the walls including props that looks like they're from the Transformers movies. The Universal people are all dressed in camouflage uniforms (which I am super jealous of by the way) and really act the part! This ride is an absolute MUST if visiting Universal Studios, just make sure you come early to beat the crowds! read more

This is such an amazing ride. It's definitely one of my favorites at Universal Studios. Even if you haven't seen the Transformers movies, you will most likely enjoy this ride. This ride is a 4D ride. It's not a roller coaster but it's computer simulated and you move around. You don't just sit in one place the whole time. It is so cool. I try to go on this ride every time I come to Universal. On top of the amazing visual effects and thrill of this ride, it is actually a decent duration. I hate waiting forever for a ride only to be on it for a minute. Definitely try and go on this ride when you come here. It is worth the wait. If it's high on your list, try and get to this ride early before the wait gets crazy long. You can also take pictures with Transformers outside the ride; I have yet to do that because there is always a mob of people around them. But someday I will!! read more

This was my best ride in the park! The queue was uber long and even though I was a solo rider the staff made me go in the main queue! I was pretty happy I brought a frozen drink with me as it was a pretty hot day and the people behind me kept bumping into me and I was queueing for 50 mins! Now even though there are different rooms you queue in and parts of a film being played on repeat it needs to be more entertaining as I was ready to walk out half way through queuing! The ride when you finally go on it is amazing! You are in a cart and there was no point where I noticed how the effects worked and I even had my eyes closed when I thought we were dropping! read more

What an awesome experience. It was like a 3D simulator ride that made you seem like you were an autobot yourself and fighting off Decepticons. The last time I was at Universal Studios, Transformers the Ride was being built. Skip ahead 3 years and it's one of two new attractions (Minion Mayhem being the other) that I will get to experience. My friend and I get to Universal Studios shortly after the 8 a.m. Park opening. We both agree to go to the Lower Level and do the attractions there. I mentioned that Transformers will be our first stop since I haven't experienced it. We make it to the lower level and there is no one there. 10 min posting, but we pretty much just walk through the queue. I couldn't believe how much queue there was. It sort of felt like Disneyland's Indiana Jones queue where it just keeps going and going. The only good thing is that once you exit the vehicle, you go up a set of steps and you're outside (unlike Indiana Jones ha ha). I remember watching the animated Transformers series as a kid in the 80's, but really can't remember specifics about the characters. I never saw the live action movies that were put out. And as far as this ride goes, all I knew was that it's similar to the Spider Man attraction at Islands of Adventure in Florida. We board our vehicle and are on our way. This attraction relies on giant screens and 3D glasses to bring the adventure to life. Some theme park fans may feel like a ride based solely on projection screens is a "cheap" way of creating immersive experiences. But I say that for this type of experience, screens are the way to go. Animatronics could never do what the characters in the screen do. This ride was really cool. Right after my first ride, my friend asked what to do next, and I said "Transformers!" as I was walking right back in line. During the second ride, I was paying more attention to how we traveled in the show building than the action on the screen. That's when I realized that we traveled up to a second level by an elevator. And then of course, I had to watch to see how we descended back to ground level. It was pretty cool. After the second ride, we went on Mummy. After Mummy, my friend asked if we should head up to the upper level. I said "I want to ride Transformers again". And it was still a walk on. After the third ride, we noticed a lot more people on the lower level and the wait sign had gone up to a 20 min posting. So we pretty much left Transformers. Even though I know next to nothing about the Transformers, I was still able to enjoy this attraction very much. read more

One of the best rides at Universal!!! I love all the transformers movies and I'm very happy how well they brought the movie to life with this ride! Compared to the other simulation rides like the Simpsons and despicable me, this ride is a lot more action packed! You actually feel like you're an autobot fighting to save the world! The ride takes you through different rooms while you're flying throughout the air, being jolted around during flights, and you can feel the heat from explosions! The mummy ride usually had the long lines but since this attraction opened the wait time can get pretty long! It was weird, when I went on it the wait time said 45 minutes so I decided to time the wait and see if that was true. We only ended up waiting about 23 minutes which wasn't bad at all! I don't know if the wait time was wrong or what but it went by fast! There's lots of tv's and buttons on the wall that keep you entertained while waiting! This was one of my fave rides 5 years ago when I went (it had just opened) and it still is. We rode it twice with our front of line pass and it made me wish that there could be different storylines each time. I don't know what it was about the day we came but it was broken the first time we were in line (and we left) and down for most of the day. So when we came back at the end of the day, we rode it twice to make sure we got our fill. It's still just as fun today as it was then and I love hearing Optimus say "Autobots - roll out" and then you're going 60 MPH. It's just such a instant action ride and I think that's how it should be. We never got to stop and take a photo mostly only due to how hot and long the lines were. read more

I am not loving the 3D stuff. If you don't like 3D in the movies don't bother coming here. Initially the ride's wait time was an obscene 1 hr. That is downright criminal. I guess this is what you get for coming here for halloween. The ride is jarring, and doesn't make sense how a vehicle can drive like that. At least this ride was decently long. read more
