I did not notice until I arrived at my destination that the registration tags were expired, all 4 tires were spare, and one was completely bald. I notified the owner and submitted all concerns within the app, and I extended my rental by several hours because I was concerned about driving over 55mph on the freeway given the state of the tires. I submitted a refund request for the rental extension. Two days later I received a response stating "it appears that neither the vehicle nor a Getaround representative was contacted to help address the issue at the time. Unfortunately, this step is necessary for us to provide an immediate solution. In this case, the rental could have continued with assistance from our support team or the vehicle owner. As a result, I regret to inform you that as per our policy, we are unable to process a refund without the owner's approval." I responded with proof that I contacted both the owner and support during my rental (both of which went unanswered) and am waiting for a response. Regardless of the response, I would certainly recommend to avoid using Getaround!

They do not care for customers - being fair or acting with honesty are not their values- GREED is the motive. The towing service, a money making scheme, no itemized statement provided to support the charges taken out of your account unauthorized. If you breakdown, safety is not a concern, even when a technician firmly states there was a safety issues from lack of proper maintenance by owner- that wasn't even acknowledged. Pictures I submitted showing the 'no tread/weakened tire wall that exploded during my drive on a canyon road were not reviewed. Upon further research; the rental vehicle profile on their archaic mobile app- had renter after renter having issues with car maintenance being performed. I was stranded for over a total of 8 hours in the middle of the night, harsh weather conditions, on a deserted, dark canyon road in a vehicle that had no power or electricity. I had to wait for operator of 24 hour roadside assistance for over an hour to start the process for help, on top of that when I finally was able to talk to help line, it was as if I was inconveniencing them, even told me to contact my insurance company that I initially tried to use for the rental but Getaround would not accept it since it was not available in a dropdown menu on the mobile app. So I added insurance from the app which made my rental that was already expensive more costly! The worst part is that the purchase of renting was to make income which was already significantly reduced by the cost of rental and insurance, then the car broke down and reduced my ability to make money to pay for things, and then I am charged with all these additional fees by Getaround, current bill was for 2 towing trips made same night which is unethical because the first towing service I was charged for didn't have jumper cables- so they did nothing and Getaround sends another tow to me and charges me AGAIN! That is beyond consumer abuse and profiting illegally! The insurance I was forced to purchase was worth nothing to me. What's worse is the rep on the phone told me that the towing would be assisted with because the first tow didn't have the required tools. Getaround charged me for 2 towing, while I didn't have a rental car that operates for over half the time I rented it, no insurance that actually helped me, and I was treated with disregard and disrespected by EVERY service person I interacted with- they have no phone number to call and everything is through email where they do not look at the problem only use scripted response to deny your claims. I have only experienced financial harm, aggravation, constant nagging for more money, not any real retribution for the nightmare I have been experiencing which now continues with asking me for more money for towing and paying for the incompetence of having to wait for another towing. This is the most unethical, discourteous place I have ever transacted business with! My rental was so expensive and it was only 3 days of renting and it only worked 20% of that time! Why does Getaround take no accountability for anything and do not instruct or require safety inspections on the vehicles they allow to be rented. At this point- Getaround epitomizes and is the quintessential textbook example of what an organization is NOT to do or say, or how to act with its customers. That is the reputation they serve PLEASE share this story and DO NOT give this deceptive, misleading, greedy company your business. And if you have been treated unfairly- DO SOMETHING...write letters, join groups, contact media, anything to take down this no good profit only consumer abusing company!

    Hmmm, where to start? We rented the car from San Francisco…read moreairport and drove to Northern California. We were moving family to Texas. We drove the car from Eureka, California to Waco, Texas. During our stay in Texas, winter storm Fern, came in and covered most of the country in snow and ice. We drove up to Dallas/Ft. Worth airport, our return destination. Our flights were cancelled 4 times and then delayed another 3 times. We considered keeping the car and driving to O'Hare airport in Chicago, but when we tried to extend the reservation to do so, an automated message came up and stated that this was not allowed. Not to mention, the rates on the cars were astronomical. This was very frustrating, and forced us to stay in the airport for over 24 hours. We have rented with Enterprise for years. This company should be ashamed for the price gouging of their customers in a time of need. The price was well over $800 for a 2 day rental. All this is on top of no snow brush in the car. The windows were (and always are) absolutely filthy. We had to clean the windows and purchase windshield wiper fluid (which we left in the car). Also, what good is it to be a "member" and accumulate points, if they never seem to be able to be applied to a reservation? Do better, Enterprise

I sometimes use Enterprise for convenience as they have a location near me, but I saw this SIXT location and gave them a try. Patrick who works at the desk here was so helpful. He walked me around the car and explained everything about it and how to use various features. I have heard things about the company claiming extra damages and things so I was careful and stayed when I dropped the car off to make sure everything was OK. It was fine. Return was fast and easy. You just enter the garage on Sunset Blvd. and drop the car off on the fourth floor and then go downstairs to the office. This urban Hollywood location on Sunset Blvd. is so clean, nice and futuristic with the orange glowing interior; it's super easy to get to, especially if you live in West Hollywood. It's also an ideal location if you're staying in one of the hotels nearby. The cars are stored upstairs and you just book everything downstairs at ground level. Definitely try to book in advance online using their app, if you can. You can also get additional airline points and cashback if you use certain online portals before you book. I have to say that every time I have rented with Sixt they have given me an incredible car and I always have the best experience. No one ever believes it's a rental car! While they have the standard Toyota sedans and Ford Mustangs, what Sixt excels at is providing premium German equivalents to those cars. These are cars which normally would cost much more to rent with other companies, but with Sixt are sometimes about the same price as "standard" cars with other rental companies. For example, you can currently rent a BMW 2 series sedan at Sixt for around the same price as a Nissan Altima at other some companies. I've rented a Mercedes C class convertible (which at the time was the same price as a Mustang convertible at other places), a beautiful Audi sedan for the price of a Chrysler 300, and the gorgeous BMW that I rented this time. The prices are usually the same as traditional looking rental cars from other companies. Check the prices online and you can see that some of the rates are quite amazing. I have never used the pay in advance feature because I find the savings are minimal and you can be penalized for changing times or canceling. And also make sure that your credit card covers insurance if you're using it for more expensive cars because the cars here are higher value vehicles than their equivalent from other companies. I have read that the reason is that Sixt is a German rental car company and has deals with BMW and Mercedes so they can offer them at a lower rate.

I'll try to make this as short as possible but how short can you really make a 6 month battle to get back $4000 you were wrongfully charged! So, brother in law and husband rented car end of February-2 week rental. Returned car after 2 weeks and everything is good (so we thought) 2 months later (in May!) I get a charge for over $5000. After a month of run around and refusal to provide any documentation, they say we didn't return the car for 2 months and left it in Salt Lake City?! Whaaaat??? It was returned to the studio city location we got it from exactly 2 weeks after picking it up!!! They did research and recognized it was an error and said they would refund-couple weeks later-no refund. I dispute with cc company and they respond to dispute that we had the car for 2 months (AFTER ALREADY ADMITTING WE DIDNT AND IT WAS AN ERROR ON THEIR END!) so cc company won't refund now! Go into branch and they also claim it was an error on their end and the employee we returned it to even remembers us and confirmed!! Got an email from manager stating the car was returned after 2 weeks and he would remediate the problem and after another month of texts and saying he had to escalate this to a dept in Germany, finally a refund was approved, that was over 3 weeks and NO REFUND STILL. This is $4000 that we don't owe (total was over $5000 and I have no problem aging what's owed for the actual rental but the exact refund is $3906.07!!!!!!!) no one can help. No one has answers. Don't call back when they say. I literally have documentation that they admitted fault and still can't get $4000 back!!!!!!!!! Paying interest on the card every month Becuase I don't have money to pay it down!! STAY FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!! Whether it's a scam, negligent employees, ignorance or they just don't give AF-it has been an absolute nightmare!!!!!!!!!
