I'm almost hesitant to write this review because I don't want them to get too busy! Bayside Auto has helped me in three different binds this year alone. After another auto repair shop completely screwed up my car, I brought it to Bayside after being scared to drive it all the way home from work. It was looked at the next day, and the owner sent me a video of my engine going crazy (like it was the day before too) and proof there was zero oil in the engine, and that it was seizing. They flushed it with oil for me, ran it for a while, and told me that they did what they could, but they were not sure how much damage had been done without taking apart the engine completely, but it was not good. I'm so grateful Bayside was honest with me and truly saved me from a really unsafe situation. The owner is upfront, honest, and will do anything to help you. I cannot recommend them highly enough, and hope they will be serving our community for a long time to come. read more

Celebi is a professional mechanic who continues to advance his knowledge of auto mechanics over these many years. The Bayside Transmission company name does not really tell how diversified the scope of this shop dispenses to so many satisfied clients. The shop now masters electric vehicle work while continuing to service vintage autos. While this innovated professionalism is rare in so many business today, I have frequently witnessed multiple times that Celebi has taken care of so many people challenged to pay for their car repairs. His customers always depart thankful for his generosity and thoughtfulness to their situations. This man looks after others as they are his family. A lot of these reviews are old . . . . I would suggest disregarding them! I had a radiator go out while visiting my son (I live out-of-state) over the recent holidays. We had my car towed here New Year's Eve day (we bought a new radiator at a local auto parts store first), and it was fixed two days later. I've driven the 5 hours home and my car has no problems - fixed like new! The owner of Bayside was extremely polite, called me to let me know what was happening, and was very easy to work with, and very honest about the condition of my problem. There are few consumer experiences more frustrating than the feeling that you're getting screwed by an auto repair shop. Bayside Transmission, just off the Northampton ramp on Shore Drive, was recommended to me by a friend a while back and now I will not take my car anywhere else if I have a series issue. The owner/manager is this Middle Eastern guy named Chilebi. He's honest, he's efficient and he's reasonably priced. Scratch that...he's cheap, but not so cheap that you doubt you're getting what you're paying for. When my last car needed what I knew for a fact was at least a $1,200 repair, he said he could do it for a little less than I'd been quoted elsewhere but that if it were his car he wouldn't waste his money (at that point my car wasn't worth that much). I didn't. I bought a new (used) car and donated the old one to a charity. He has never steered me wrong and he does great work. read more

Bayside is easily the worst place to take your vehicle. I felt the mechanic lied about work that was done. I was told me vehicle was fixed, yet broke down within 2 miles from business. The mechanic refused to even look at the car again. After getting a second opinion, another mechanic confirmed Bayside had not completed what they stated they completed. I would stay away - especially if you are out of town. read more

I received a quote for radiator replacement directly from the owner/manager just 3 days ago. He kept urging me to "Bring it on in!". Then today I brought it in first thing in the morning and dropped it off. He called me an hour later and said he couldn't do the same repair at that price. The owner here is so kind. I've been to this shop twice to have my car looked at. The first time he filled my power steering fluid for free and the second time he fixed my AC and told me I didn't owe him anything and that it was a "gift to baby" (I'm 20 weeks pregnant) I almost hugged him. I trust what he says and really appreciate that he takes the time to explain what's wrong with my car and how he fixed it. read more

I have been trying to figure out what's wrong with my tail lights for about a year now. Chelebi figured it out in less than a day, and for $82. I recently moved to the area, and you know how it is when you relocate, always trying to find an honest service provider. Well, yelp has led me to a good one once again! The owner is one of the nicest, honest man I have ever met. He tells you just like it is and I listen to him everytime.He has worked on my car for maybe 5 years and to be honest, I would not go anywhere else. If he can't do it because computer related items on all of these newer cars, he will tell you up front. Everyone in his shop are knowledgeable and nice to work with. The owner does a lot of the work himself. If I have any questions or problems witth anything on the car, I go to him and he tells me what the best way to go is. We were visiting from Ohio and our vehicle suddenly lost all power (lights, radio, dashboard, power steering, etc...) while driving through downtown Norfolk on a Sunday evening. We had no idea where to have our insurance company tow our vehicle to as we weren't familiar with anything about Norfolk. The Uber drive we called to pick us up recommended Chelebi and his shop as being fair and honest and with reasonable prices. Chelebi noticed our alternator was brand new and mentioned this should have warranty coverage and he made the effort to work with the mechanic in Ohio who originally replaced this item and their warranty company to fix this. He spent two days coordinating all of this despite not being contracted with or previously working with the third party warranty company and he was able to return our vehicle back to us in healthy condition and at no cost to us. This man and his crew had never made a previous penny off of us or our vehicle and they just provided warranty work with a vendor they really could have said "no thank you" to. He additionally recommended when we get home to have our local mechanic look at replacing our brake pads as he felt they looked extremely worn. He could have easily made this recommendation with the intention of selling us on the replacement while our vehicle was in his shop but he simply made the recommendation to us. I wish we had a Chelebi and Bay Side Transmission back home that we could trust to be this hardworking and trustworthy. read more

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Bayside Transmission and Auto Repair. I recommend them to anyone who will listen. I needed to replace a sensor in my transmission, and was shopping around for the best price. I pulled in to Bayside Transmission and Auto Repair on a whim. It turned out they were getting ready to close, but they still took the time to examine my car and explain what they could do to fix the problem. They then called around to see where they could get the necessary part at the best price. Their estimate was the best price, so I made an appointment for later that week. When they got under my car, it turned out that there was a buildup between the gears that they could clean off. The expensive part was not necessary, and they saved me over $500. My car is running better than the day I bought it, and it is thanks to their hard work and honesty. As a girl that knows the basics about cars, I appreciate their honesty and integrity. The part that was "needed" had been replaced in my car several times by another repair shop. If you need transmission work, definitely give these guys a shot! read more

VERY DISAPPOINTED...I brought my 03 dodge ram 2500 w/auto trans in because the reviews for Bayside Auto were very good(4.8/5). Chelebi estimated maximum $1500 if he had to drop tranny too. He didn't drop tranny but still charged me the full $1500 amount with used parts and no warranties on his work. My transmission was shifting perfect but would not shift back into PARK. I drove it there(Bayside Auto:35 min away) and dropped off to Chelebi, again, running & shifting fine. 3 days and $1500 later, Chelebi said transmission is fixed. I come take my truck for a test drive and all gears are reving higher(RPMs) before changing AND randomly downshifting in lower gears.Chelebi(owner) said "maybe it needs to warm up first"??? & "We didn't touch inside the tranny"??? I now has more problems with my transmission than when I brought it in...and you say it is fixed??? $1500 and no warranties on their work! Too many excuses, so I don't have enough confidence in them to fix/repair my transmission properly anymore, and I will not bring it back. I will have to try another reputable place(that specializes in transmission installation/repair/replacement w/warrantied work). I would NOT recommend this place for transmission work of any kind. read more

One of the most frustrating things when moving to a new area is finding a mechanic that you trust. The owner Chilebi is the nicest guy that I have ever dealt with. Every time I have taken a vehicle here to get fixed they have fixed it in a fast, professional manner. You will not find someone to work on your vehicle for cheaper in this area. He does not charge you for parts you do not need and will give you honest recommendations. I can't say enough good things about Bayside transmission! read more
