There are places you enter because you are hungry and places you remember because the food was…read moregood. Cube Ramen in Lacey is the second kind. The noodles have bite to them. They hold against the teeth the way good noodles should. The broth comes through, then the pork, and then the marinated egg with its dark, quiet flavor. It is more authentic than the ramen you buy at the Asian grocer and take home to make yourself. There is something different about a bowl made by someone who knows what the bowl is supposed to be. The room was not what you might imagine when you think of ramen. It was somewhere between a teriyaki place and a sandwich shop. The building was full of businesses and the room belonged to the building. There was nothing wrong with that. A man does not need much from a room when he has a good bowl in front of him. The waitresses understand this. They come by often. They look at the table and see what is needed. Water. Another thing. Anything that is not quite right. They take care of it. That matters. It is a good bowl of ramen, and they take good care of you while you eat it.

The portions are definitely huge and worth the pricing, because she had to double wrap my order just so it would all fit and wouldn't fall out. To pair with the nori wrap, I also ordered the original miso soup, which comes with the usual tofu and seaweed but is on the sweeter side compared to what I'm used to. I personally like it sweeter but if you don't, I probably wouldn't order it. She told me that the portion made is not the lunch special and next time, make sure to specify that over the phone if I want the Lunch special or dinner portion. She clarified, while acting out the mannerisms, of customers that would complain about the Lunch special, because they would want a dinner portion instead, so she just places general orders as the dinner portion. They paired very well with the rice and galbi, which was thoroughly marinated in a delectable glaze. Even though I was initially frustrated that I received the dinner portion, I calmed down after eating the galbi. My son and I actually ended up devouring it.. the food was so good, I totally forgot about the pricing at the moment. Just keep in mind though, this place is not advertised as KBBQ, so you're paying for individual plates/dishes/orders that should already be cooked. I would only recommend this restaurant if there are certain staples you really enjoy (i.e. you're only craving bulgogi but don't want to go out to eat or grill it), because it is arguably just as expensive as KBBQ. But if you're a foodie that can afford it, I'd suggest stopping by to try it out yourself! :)

I have been eating here since they opened and it was Great the first few years then became Good. This past year Ok and now I have to say Horrible. The Service was terrible and there was onmy Six People in the entire restaurant at 12:00 lunch time, just two of us at the Sushi Bar. They created all kinds of you can't do this or that while ordering or as you are eating. Sushi Chef actually pushed my order to far on case in front of me sending Sushi into my water glass and all over the counter, then actually asked if I wanted him to remake it. I actually wanted to say No it's ok I will just use my Chop Sticks to retrieve the Tuna from my water glass and eat the rest off the table. Server actually forgot my Squid Salad and never removed dirty plates. Wasabi dry chunks, needing a little water and Rice dry as without Rice Vinegar being used , fish cuts paper thin and very small, not even fresh. I asked for a way to contact Corp. on the way out and told they do not have the phone number, I asked about contacting the owner, told to look it up by finding the Federal Way location. I looked up Federal Way and called asking to reach owner, was given to a manager to speak too and I left my name and number asking simple he call me without explaining what I just had experienced. No return call! My 12 year old had the all you an eat lunch, ate a half of Cali. Roll and could not eat any more of it. I did the all you can eat Dinner and it's the first time I have left Sushi in my plate in over 40 years of eating it. If McDonalds was to put Sushi on their Menu, this is what it would probably taste like, possibly bette, absolute waste of money. $65.00 for garbage Sushi, I believe the Sushi you buy at the Super Market by the Meat Deli prepackaged would be superior to what Trapper is now serving. This is my second sushi experience ever. My first, nearly prevented my second. I was encouraged to try Trappers from multiple friends and I....am...."hooked"! How do I express how this combination of fresh, spicy, crispy, creamy ingredients made me feel....it is truly an "experience". And if you don't think you like sushi, try Trappers before you decide you don't. I had Buddha, Firecracker, and Vader (one piece I bummed off my friend's plate)...and just like children, it's unfair to choose a favorite...they were all simply perfection. The staff (Bethany) was super friendly, helpful for a newbie and clearly their primary focus is on the customer having a wonderful experience, whatever that takes. I now need a second job to support my new obsession. (Although, the quality is worth what would have been the SAME price for a King size meal at BK! So you decide which you'd rather have) Go to Trappers....and go often ***UPDATE 8/6/18*** I went back FOUR times within a month, I HAD to have it! I've had the all you can eat lunch twice, dine in once and a call in order for pick up. I've had the WILLIS, the SEAHAWK, the SPICY TUNA and more BUDDHA and FIRECRACKER. Every one exceptional! Best Sushi in all of Thurston County!! Love the All You Can Eat option. The service is good for the most part. The hostess Juanita always recognizes my wife and I when we come in and doesn't even have to ask what we want to do. Our servers however has been a hit or miss. Sometimes it takes a while before we get served and we see the servers behind the bar chatting. Tyler is our favorite chef by far as well. This is my favorite place to eat at in all Thurston county. You have to try the TIMMY it's the best roll on the menu. Also, be sure to come during lunch time and get the all you can eat its the best! I've had similar sushi before that I'd consider more of a budget option (not amazing, but decent for the price). This sushi was passable but tasted more like $15 for a roll.. Just subpar for my standards. I think what made it more disappointing is that when I go out for sushi, I am expecting something better than what I could make at home (and yes, I have made sushi before with sashimi-grade fish, sushi rice, etc.). It is convenient to have someone cook for you, and good sushi is supposed to feel like an extraordinary experience. That's why I dine out at sushi restaurants but this just didn't hit the spot. Overall, amazing service, but the food was pretty underwhelming for the price.

We go miso soup, a spicy tuna hand roll, soft shell crab appetizer, a spicy tuna roll, and sushi house roll. The rolls were big and very yummy!
