Cute Fusion Asian place that tucked in the end or beginning of the plaza strip. So with that say, my dish is Vnese and nothing came close (yes I kept in mind of the fusion part) from taste to presentation l. Given that this is Yelm, therefore not much of expectation but they do have most of the dish's elements. And this apply to all dishes. It's not bad at all, my friend likes it a lot and this is her favorite place with her favorite dish of Singapore noodles...which I don't recalled that the noodle is that wet. The favor is there but it's wet, too wet in my POV. The mochi is nice and soft and chewy like and flavorful. Overall not bad, very water-fusion for my taste. Trying out another restaurant in our town because we always hear good things about it. We got the egg rolls to start, Mongolian beef with a side of rice and chicken chow mein. The food honestly was a bit underwhelming. The chow mein noodles looked and almost tasted like spaghetti, they weren't the normal type of chow mein noodles. The Mongolian beef had good flavor but there wasn't enough beef to vegetable ratio. For the cost of the food, we were hoping for it to be a bit better. The service was great and attentive to our needs. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The overall ambiance was okay, it seems like they don't use half the restaurant for storage so the space is a tad small.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The best part of the meal was the donuts for the donut shop they run out of the same building. Red lantern never disappoints. 7 flavor beef is a consistent favorite, as well as their pad Thai! I've actually never tried food from here that wasn't delicious. This place is really good! My wife, grandson and I stopped by here on a Thursday night. The service is excellent and the food comes out fast. It was the best Pad Thai I've ever had. And the white sticky rice is perfect. Big servings. I love it when the food comes out piping hot. The beef was not really spiced up but the chicken and pork were great. We hadn't been back here in over 6 years (due to a military move), so now that we moved back we had to try this place again. THEY NOW HAVE PHO!!! So we HAD to try it. The pho restaurant in Yelm was our go to for pho 6 years ago but since moving back, we heard the original owners moved and it shows. I'm so happy to have another Pho alternative near by. The broth was so rich and flavorful and the meat was very tender! I'm hoping they'll keep this on their menu, it said limited time special so idk if they'll stop eventually but I sure hope not! The coconut shrimp were tasty as well. I had the beef pad se ew and it was just okay, I probably wouldn't get it again since it lacked on flavor and the texture wasn't what it's supposed to be. (We have had plenty of this same dish at other places) We also had the Thai iced coffee and that was very good! Out Harley riding and Yelm was where i found myself hungry. I have been here long ago and liked it. I ordered the best EVA fresh pork shrimp salad rolls and the best EVA peanut sauce. Main course was pork yellow curry. And this was their one flaw. The curry was great .....but. I ordered it 4 spicy level. Disappointedly it was a weak 2 spicy. I wanted so much to be like this place, especially since the other Thai restaurant in town closed. A few weeks ago we got a to go order. Part of that was pork spring rolls. Not only were they so poorly wrapped that they fell apart, but it contained almost no pork. Basically just a salad in a rice wrapper. Figured that might have just been an off night, so we tried them again. Got the pineapple curry. For something with the word pineapple in the name, it had only 2 tidbits in the whole thing. Ok, that could be forgiven. Except for what I can only imagine what was coffee grounds in the curry! I'm seriously worried about their attention to detail, and also food safety. Decided to go eat dinner by myself tonight. The guys were in Puyallup and I found myself in Yelm, by home. Ive bought food from here before, but to go, not dine in. So I figured out why not. I was greeted by a nice guy and was offered to sit anywhere of my choosing by a nice lady. The place is clean, and only some tables were finished with plates, napkin, and fork. After I looked over the menu I decided to try their grilled shrimp (appetizer: 8/10 I wish they changed the named to grilled shrimp peanut salad, because lets face it, it was a salad, with grilled prawns, and peanut sauce not bad) so far off to a good start. I also asked for a thai iced tea which wasnt served in a glass since I was dining in, but in a to go boba container which put me off a little but you cant go wrong with thai iced tea, but maybe serve it in a glass for customers who choose to dine in 6/10. For my main dishes I asked for the Red Lantern Chicken (9/10 cooked well, over a few steamed veggies in a peanut sauce with white rice that was served in a sushi rice bowl, which also threw me off. It's white rice, just serve it in a metal or white small bowl. ) and Pineapple curry 5/10 with pork and the meat was over cooked or not cooked enough so it could've been tender to chew. Summed up in one word:flavorful. We came because we wanted Chinese and this is as close as it gets in this area but it was a great call to try it. There's lots of options from Thai to Vietnamese to Chinese and almost all have a vegetarian option. We started with their version of a tofu eggroll which was perfectly crispy and unexpectedly full of flavor (eggrolls for me are usually pretty bland but wowza!). I had tofu Singapore noodles and my friend ordered mi quang and both of us were absolutely delighted with all of it. Everything tasted in layers, the Singapore noodles were pleasantly spiced then sweet then salty. As is usual for me also, I ate until I was full and felt I had barely made a dent in my dish so portion sizes are pretty good too. The chicken wings were the best part of this meal but the breading was soggy, however, they were the exception as the sauce was tasty. The pad Thai wasn't that good either but edible. The chow mein was super bland, do not recommend! Save your money and go elsewhere. This is our second time trying this place. Last time we tried it was 2 years ago. We got food close to closing time for a big family get together, spent about $250. The food tasted so old like it had been sitting there all day, no one could eat it and we threw it all away. Tonight our go to restaurant Si Racha Thai was closed, so we went here. The crab Rangoon's were SO HARD and chewy, and no filling inside. Whatever was inside tasted like pesto mixed with cream cheese. The green curry was pure milk, absolutely no flavor, and the vegetables were so soggy it was like it was a week old. I called and let the manager know my feedback. She advised me all food is "made to order", and perhaps the Rangoon's were so hard because they sat in the togo container.(which is impossible, they only sat in there for 10 minutes top) She said no one else has ever gave her this feedback and I am the only one. There is a review from two months ago saying the same thing I did about the Rangoon's! Clearly they do not care about customer feedback, or wish to improve their food whatsoever. 2 years later and still tasted just as horrid as the first time we tried it. Dinner time on a Tuesday and the place had about 5 of the 12 tables full. We were quickly seated and our order taken timely. Our table had the Red Lantern Chicken, Thai Fried Rice, and Singapore Noodles. The Red Lantern Chicken was very tasty. I found myself wanting white rice to help sop up the goodness, which I ordered and it was perfect. Huge portion of chicken on perfectly cooked veggies. The Singapore Noodles were also a good portion size and we couldn't stop eating them if we tried. The rice was as good as any I've ever had. The only area for improvement is to get some beer on draft rather than everything in bottles, and bring our entire order. We ordered some appetizers that didn't come until we were done eating. I'd give 5 stars except for the mess up on the appetizers. Definitely a place to try out more menu options. read more
