Came here on a busy Friday evening for date night and we were immediately attended to. We were seated immediately after and were pleased with the beautiful interior views of the restaurant. Complimentary fresh bread and butter were provided that paired well with the entrees we ordered. The pollo marsala was delectable and generously served with two breast filets. My partners linguini was rich in flavor and the chef did NOT hold back on the clams and mussels! The dish was loaded with at least 30 clams and mussels which is unheard of nowadays. How can 1 restaurant justify selling a plate of pasta for $25-$30?! The prices here are beyond ridiculous. Calamari for $25 is insane. My family of 3 ate here for lunch, and we ordered 1 calamari, 2 pastas, and 1 fish. The total was about $130 without tax, without a tip, and not to mention the 5% credit card fee. The flavors are generic, and nothing stands out. If you're expecting to have exciting flavors that feel like authentic Italian food, then you have come to the wrong place. I've been to Little Trattoria 25, the sister restaurant to Trattoria No. 25, and have always had very good food & service. However, while the food was very good at TN 25, the service was inattentive and warrants a TS2uesday! First of all, the complimentary bread was nice and warm. It went very well w/ olive oil alone: 4 Stars. On the other hand, the caesar salad ($7 w/ anchovies) was just OK. The lettuce was not cut uniformly, and there was too much dressing. Nonetheless, there were a lot of anchovies: 3 Stars. Lastly, my entree was very good. The salmon had a nice crisp to it. Additionally, the risotto was unique and cooked al dente: 4 Stars. TN 25 is an oasis in a desert. Its one of the few nice restaurants in the area. That explains why it was very crowded on Wed at lunch: 4 Stars. In contrast, the service should have been better. The waitstaff didn't refill my water w/o asking, the waiter didn't stop by to ask how our meal was, nor did he offer coffee, and he was no where to be found when we wanted the check: Negative Stars for that loser! Absolutely loved this place.. I can't wait to go back and try more of their dishes! First of all, the bread they bring you itself is so soft and yummy. We ordered the calamari, seafood fettuccine with mushroom sauce as well as their black risotto with salmon. The food was delicious. My favorite was the calamari.. it comes with this orange sauce that is so tasty with the seafood. Their fettuccine comes with plenty of seafood in it. Their coffee was also good and their servers are so friendly. It does get packed around noon though. We came on a Friday around 11 and that time seemed to be perfect. A few weeks ago we went to celebrate my friend birthday. When we got there the restaurant was completely empty just the waiter and cook were there. Some of the food was good but one of us order what it said was a panini but it turn out to be a regular cheeseburger which had the meat burnt also. Next, the smell that was in the restaurant was awful. Smell like sewer. Then when it was time to pay we paid with credit card. Got charged $11 for using the card which was never mentioned to us. What a find!!!! I LOVE Trattoria 25! We came here one Friday afternoon for our end of week luncheon (more like early dinner), the place is quite nice, it's casual chic and has a very open feel. I could tell that this is a hub for many professionals and corporate gatherings but make no mistake, this place seems like very family friendly as well. We first started with their Antipasti, two beautiful servings of deep fried Calamari and shrimp with subtle dipping sauce on the side - fantastic! Order a glass of Pinot Grigio to go with this antipasti - really good! For my main dish, I ordered the Bigolleti alla rucola e frutti di mare (what a mouthful right?)! Made with homemade spaghetti with lobster, shrimp, clams, and crab in a mild but flavorful sauce - it reminds me a lot Ciopinno - elevated! My colleagues had the Fettuccine ai funghi porcini con capisante e gamberi (lordie - this one is more of a mouthful than the other!! haha) being the curious monkey that I am, I asked my sister (my work colleague) If I could taste her dish - Wow!! the sauce was so flavorful and they sure did not skimp on the scallops!..very generous! The staff here at Trattoria are really nice and attentive, parking is not a problem, they have a huge shared lot, however, I believe at night or during dinner, parking is validated. Another visit recently after volunteering at the LA Food Bank again. This time, there were 12 people in the group and I forgot to call ahead of time, but the same waiter remembered me from before so he was really accommodating. We pretty much had the restaurant to ourselves with great service and food. This time around I ordered the pumpkin ravioli, which I liked more than their pizzas. The pumpkin flavor was really marinated into the dish. The ravioli was really filling that I ended up only eating half. The guy was really understanding when it came time to pay. To make things easier, he just gave everyone his/her own bill. That was really nice of him because that was a lot of work on his end to handle each of us one at a time. I came here for my lunch with the boss. It's one of the few restaurant options in the area as you can tell that it's all people on their lunch breaks here. I like how the windows really bring in the sunlight into the restaurant. They provided complimentary bread with butter, olive oil, and vinegar. I ordered the Fettuccine Al Salmone ($17.95). It had great presentation mixed with colorful spinach and sundries tomatoes. They also gave a lot of salmon in the dish covered with a flavorful and creamy Alfredo sauce. I'm not sure why this place got a 4 star review, because this place is the epitome of mediocre. The place is located in a sketchy looking mall corner of Vernon. We got here at 6 pm, which is only an hour after their dinner opening time, and there was nobody seated in the restaurant. Literally no one. That surprised me seeing how highly rated this place was. We were seated right away near the windows, and offered bread that was the only redeeming part of our dinner. My friend ordered the Fettucine al Funghi and I ordered the Risotto de Nero with Grilled Salmon. I've been dying to try black risotto for a long time, and this was going to be it. After my first bite, I missed traditional Arborio rice risotto immediately. The Venus rice that this was made with wasn't the same soft, chewy texture that I had expected. It didn't have the same creamy heartiness of risotto either. The salmon was okay as well - I enjoyed the burnt edges but the rest of it was...eh, let's say I would prefer salmon from boxed sushi. The scallops in the Fettucine al Funghi were too soft and mushy, but the shrimp was redeemable. BAD: I would probably give the food alone a 3.5 star rating, but what irked me was the INCREDIBLY slow service, ESPECIALLY since we were the only customers there. There were about 5-6 waiters standing around the TV just hanging out. It took them forever to bring us our check and boxed leftovers (which they brought separately so we had to wait twice as long). I would understand if the place was packed, but really....it was just the two of us in a vast vast empty restaurant.... tl;dr: Mediocre Food, Poor Service.
