I'm not sure why this place got a 4 star review, because this place is the epitome of mediocre. The place is located in a sketchy looking mall corner of Vernon. We got here at 6 pm, which is only an hour after their dinner opening time, and there was nobody seated in the restaurant. Literally no one. That surprised me seeing how highly rated this place was. We were seated right away near the windows, and offered bread that was the only redeeming part of our dinner. My friend ordered the Fettucine al Funghi and I ordered the Risotto de Nero with Grilled Salmon. I've been dying to try black risotto for a long time, and this was going to be it. After my first bite, I missed traditional Arborio rice risotto immediately. The Venus rice that this was made with wasn't the same soft, chewy texture that I had expected. It didn't have the same creamy heartiness of risotto either. The salmon was okay as well - I enjoyed the burnt edges but the rest of it was...eh, let's say I would prefer salmon from boxed sushi. The scallops in the Fettucine al Funghi were too soft and mushy, but the shrimp was redeemable. BAD: I would probably give the food alone a 3.5 star rating, but what irked me was the INCREDIBLY slow service, ESPECIALLY since we were the only customers there. There were about 5-6 waiters standing around the TV just hanging out. It took them forever to bring us our check and boxed leftovers (which they brought separately so we had to wait twice as long). I would understand if the place was packed, but really....it was just the two of us in a vast vast empty restaurant.... tl;dr: Mediocre Food, Poor Service. I am so glad that my new bosses and co-workers took me here. This is hands down the best fettuccine I have had. Not sure if it is because it is slathered in butter or not, heh. I ordered the Salmon Fettuccine (about $18) and I was very surprised! I was expecting something like Cheesecake Factory, but this place is better! The salmon was cooked perfectly and not overdone! In addition to this, when you are seated, you are given a basket of bread, along with butter, olive oil, and vinegar. My coworkers tried other items and I can't wait until the next time I come so I can try other menu items. Service was very quick and friendly. And food came out within 10 minutes. read more

I've always loved their food however for the service that we received yesterday when we ate here, I would not go back again! First off our server Paulino when we walked in, he said how many and I said 4 please outside . This RUDE man gestured outside and said GO - telling us to go sit outside. Wow. Now come time to order. Someone in our party wanted a fish dish and before she even got to finish. Very rudely so, he cuts her off and says we don't HAve that! Our drinks were not refilled timely and napkins were not even given. Thank goodness for the pleasant lady who brought us bread and napkins when we asked. He also took so long to give us our check. Been multiple times and now glad I did. yes the location is way funky, but once you get inside this restaurant it is phenomenal. Bread is fantastic. Pasta dishes all are good, just flow with what you like and you will not be disappointed. Steak Sandwich - masquerading as a panini, is actually really good. But I would just categorize as a steak sandwich. Chicken Dishes have been extremely flavorful and awesome. Overall, if this location is close to you, definitely a major go to in this area as the area , well, its' Vernon and Industrial heaven. So one of the best places to eat in the area. read more

What!? Where did Trattoria come from? Tucked in-between factories, Trattoria's location is a hidden gem. The service here is top notch; I truly feel at home here! Our waiter was amazing and such a delight. I would highly recommend trying out their pastas. They also have a unique burger (Yes I'm THAT person that comes to an Italian restaurant and orders a burger). The fries served with the burger was so light and delicious; I was extremely tempted to order an extra side! The burger did get soggy after a while though and started falling apart but I enjoyed all that flavor too much to even mind that! I'm having major food withdrawals thinking about the burger... The location was old and looked like it needed some maintenance, but it's still quite welcoming. The staff is my favorite and just for that, I am grateful to have stumbled upon Trattoria! Went in at around late lunch at like 2pm. Not busy at all. Just a few people here and there. It was just the 4 of us. Place is a bit hidden. Probably that's why not many people know about it. We come in and the waiter comes in and serves us on time. There complimentary hot bread is really good served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar and butter. Yum! We came In Saturday. We asked what is the special for today is abs it was Salmon de Alaska. 2 people got that. My husband got a Panini chicken breast pesto without eggplant and French Fries. I got the Mushroom Risotto. When the plates came, they were literally big entrees. I couldn't eat my plate nor my husband. Never tried Risotto, it was okay, am not sure how risottos texture should be it was a bit like it was uncooked but I ate it quietly, only ate half of it cuz it was too much. The Panini we thought it would be a half a sandwich but it was a full sandwich, it was good but too big. Must try the SALMON DE ALASKA so juicy and tender that was number one and vegetables with potatoes but salmon is class. Customer service was very good. read more

My dad was in town and wanted Italian food for dinner.. I took to yelp to find a good spot. My dad is the kind of guy that will take you to any whole in the wall and act like it's the Ritz. He loves off beat parts of town and doesn't let outside appearance phase him. I kid you not, as we are getting closer he says, "Daughter, where are you taking me? Vernon is an industrial area with a lot of warehouses so to find an italian restaurant is a diamond in a hay stack.. lol. Trattoria's bread is addicting and they give plenty. I've tried the ahi tuna salad, caesar salad, and the seafood pasta. Trattoria is very busy during lunch hour but I have never had to wait and never seen guests wait longer than 10 minutes. The pasta is delicious and the salads are also pretty big too. This restaurant is great for business men and women working in the area. It's a place for business meetings rather than a date spot. Best choice ever for our group of 12, coming from a solid two hours of work at the LA Regional Food Bank, around 3:15 pm. It's less than a five- minute drive and there's plenty of parking. Trattoria 25 is a gem in this industrial area of @DiscoverLA (Vernon). The general area is a wasteland if you are looking for a great lunch option...except for Trattoria No 25. I don't know where the other 24 Trattorias are but this one is great. I came in with a large group (several of them office nearby and are regulars) and we had a great lunch. I had the pumpkin ravioli which was really tasty and I especially liked the walnut cream sauce...yummy. Several of the regulars had the Pannini Bistecca (steak paninni) and went on about how great it is. I unreservedly recommend this place as a lunch option (or dinner for that matter) if you find yourself in this area in search of non-fastfood. read more

Was taken here on my birthday and enjoyed the overall experience. The first thing I wondered was, wow, how could a nice place like this exist in such a industrial area. It was a nice escape and I wish I knew of it sooner. The only downside (for me at least) was it was full of old businessmen, and excuse my blunt words but it was a sausage fest of older gentlemen. Service was okay, wish the waiter was more attentive though. You start off with bread, the bread is actually amazing, I normally don't finish bread when at Italian restaurants but, I can easily gouge down all the delicious bread here. For the main course I had the chicken special, and the person I came with had fish. There wasn't anything very special about these, the chicken was a little dry, both dishes looked very aesthetically pleasing though. It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything to rave about. For dessert we shared a Creme Brulee. It was enjoyable but not memorable. I would give this place 4 stars for just being a nice get-a-way from the normal Vernon environment(any other situation would be 3 stars). Hey, This is probably one of the places where the crooks of Vernon City probably wasted city coffers. They probably drank gallons of the decent wine and fattened their bellies with authentic Italian food. Though probably not a single waiter.is Italian, they know the menu written in Italian and they can help you decipher it. The food, based on yelpers before me, is mostly a hit with possibly some misses. But overall, I liked it and would return again. I want to support owners that had the guts to open a restaurant here. The interior is minimalistic modern...Cushioned walnut colored chairs and booths, very while walls, dark walnut colored floors, and strange choices for wall art..pictures of coffee drinks, Yup, no flowers or beach scenes or photos Rome. I sat in the bar facing the entrance. This has to be one of the coolest people watching restaurants. They're not far from the headquarters of high couture BCBG, trendy Forever 21, and several other designers. Lots of fashion forward people wore outlandish to business suit attire. Some of them IMO did look right in those body hugging outfits, but it's LA. There were even a few people from da hood with their body tatoos, and I'm just talking about las chicas, They obviously have money because this place ain't cheap. I generally don't like to spend more than $10 for lunch before tax and tip, and today was $18 with a coke. (then you add the tip and it's a 20 plus dollar lunch). McDonald's is a mile east, BTW. They have some cool looking salads, pastas, pizzas, and grilled meats, etc. Their pasta special of the day ($14) was rigatoni, bell peppers, sausage, and onions in a velvety creamy tomato sauce. Portion size was decent. I usually only eat half of an entree and lake the rest home. But it was so good, I ate it all like a famished pig. The sauce had just enough garlic, salt, oregano, and onions. I hope they put it on their menu full time. When you order, they bring some nicely grilled bread and butter, but opted to dip it in balsamic vinegar and olive oil. The patio was kind of cool looking, but something about being a mile from Farmer John's pig processing plant made me choose a table inside. The view isn't great from there, but sometimes, you just want to be outside. It might not be a great dinner spot, but it's good for lunch. Service is their weakness, however. While most places in this price range bring you bread and water as soon as you are seated, it took a while for the waiter to come by. He never returned to ask me how my food was, and though he passed by a few times, he never refilled my coke. And I noticed it took a while for salad plates to be removed from other tables. And that's the main reason they are 3,5 stars are not a 4,5. Their food this day for me was a 4 however. read more

I've started a new chapter in my work life in Vernon... which does not include many great food spots, it's super industrial. I was taken here by work friends and told it's 'THE' spot. I can see why they might think that, good prices, fast table side service, and quality eats. This is in a small shopping center, which includes a parking lot with plenty of spaces. The staff is fast and friendly. I was filled after eating the chicken Caesar salad. One can't miss highlight is the bread basket, it's soft flat bread, which is made all the better by mixing up some virgin olive oil and vinegar. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. A vendor took us out lunch and we were craving Italian. The place is only like 5 minutes away from the office so it was convenient. The place was very busy and full of office people. It didn't matter though because we were seated right away. I was trying to hard to be healthy and disciplined but I caved when I saw the basket of bread and butter that was brought to our table. It was sooooo DELICIOUS!!! I couldn't stop reaching for more. For my main entree I am not going to lie, I wanted pasta so BAD! I didn't do it though I had to be somewhat good. I got the White Fish instead which was smothered and some lemon/white wine sauce. It came with a side of vegetables. In all honesty, I hated it. The sauce had a weird taste that was hard to like. It kind of feels like a big hollow space full of tables and chairs. I get the feeling that this restaurant is in the middle of nowhere because it's structured in an industrial area. They do have ample parking but when I came here for lunch, this place was packed to where parking was limited. I suppose you can't blame a place that provides enough parking spaces for doing so well. They must have some type of crack in the bread because it tasted amazing or it could have been the fact that I was hungry. I forgot the name of the plate that I ordered but it had chicken dressed with this lemony cream gravy type of sauce. This plate was better than I had expected. The chicken was tender and the dressing was just right. One of my biggest pet peeves are flies. These little creatures bug me most when I'm eating. I don't know if I smelled funky but I counted 3 flies that were hovering over our table. The service was also subpar compared to the food. Talk about being fancy in the middle of nowhere! Yup, all you Vernon folks, you know what I'm talking about. This place is always packed and popping during lunch hours, for Vernon workers and maybe even for non-Verners. A nice get together, fancy shmancy lunch for big groups. It's quite lovely actually. They have their daily specials that sound delish but their menu items are also very tasty looking! Huge portions too. Most of my coworkers ordered the salmon/tilapia dish or the chicken dish, because they all think that you can never go wrong with chicken. Probably true. I was the only one who ordered the penne pasta with salmon on top. My order took the longest to make and I was expecting something phenomenal. But I got okay. My salmon was too salty and too pink, tasted like salmon from a can. The pasta itself was good, but I was expecting the salmon to make my dish savory. Didn't happen though. I suspect that they are more known for their chicken and fish, so I'll have to try those next time. But who would have known...the salmon came in different form when served on the pasta... I love the decor and the ambience of this place, which will make me want to come back and give their dishes a second chance. read more

I would definitely recommend Trattoria 25 as a business lunch venue for small groups. It's nice that the good ol' city of Vernon even has such a place. Since the surrounding area is actually industrial, so is the inside of Trattoria 25. I like it because it's different, you know? The parking lot was plentiful. The outside of Trattoria was nice especially with all of the surrounding ugliness. Ha! Like Colleen M. I really wish they had a few more options for pastas. This is indeed an Italian place, so I'd like to see some more pastas with something a little different rather than shrimp and fish. The have daily specials, but I honestly cannot remember what was on that day. That being said, I asked for a small side salad and a cup of the soup of the day. I really appreciated the fact that they held the Italian or Caesar dressing or whatever they tried to offer me and gave me some olive oil with garlic salt on the side instead per my usual request for salads. It was a fresh salad--no complaints. The soup that day was minestrone. It hit the spot... full of flavor and served hot! The table bread was decent too. The service was quick and mostly friendly. The place was really busy, but no one was sitting outside in the cute little cafe area. I wondered why... My excuse was that I was 8 months pregnant and needed fresh, cool air which I got. ;) There were plenty of TVs on with random sporting events on. The restrooms were clean and well-maintained. If you're in the area and need a decent sitting meal (not a food truck, ha!), try it out. Trattoria is a very good Italian restaurant in a not so good location. Came here for a work lunch with some coworkers for my first time, and was quite impressed. This Italian spot definitely exceeded expectations. I've been here a couple times since my first visit, and for good reason. The ambiance is upscale, and the dishes here are gourmet. The service is exceptional, and the servers are all very nice, friendly, and helpful from my experience. Parking is free and easy, which is rare for a restaurant in downtown LA. I highly recommend the linguine with clams! The pasta and sauce was divine, and the clams tasted fresh and delicious. This place is a little pricy, but if you're going to splurge, and in the mood for gourmet Italian pasta, this is the place for you.
