Pesto FETTUCCINE ALFREDO WITH CHICHEN. Get it! The Bomb!

The food was amazing. I love me an authentic Italian restaurant. Service was so personable. Celebrated my birthday and they greeted me and guest every time with our names.

Trattoria Alberto was recommend by friends who have lived on the Hill for over 3 decades. We met for dinner and enjoyed a meal together. They recommended the Avocado salad to start. It was delicious. The avocado was pleasantly soft and ripe. The dressing wasn't over bearing and just the right amount. What a nice start to a meal. The menu is extensive - I wasn't sure if I should I order pasta or a protein that's served with pasta. I decided on Chicken piccata with gluten free pasta. They offer gluten free variations and vegetarian dishes. The chicken piccata was cooked perfectly. The only issue was the side of pasta. It wasn't served with gluten free pasta. However, the server quickly noticed and replaced it. I didn't have to ask. He knew and fixed it. The service it great at Trattoria Alberto and so is their at home feeling when dining. It's not rushed.

I really wanted to give this place four stars for the level of service provided from beginning to end, but I just couldn't bring myself to it based on the cost. The night we stopped in we decided to sit outside since given a choice and they do have covers and heaters for the remaining cool Spring evenings. They have an extensive beverage menu, so you won't have difficultly selecting a wine or drink choice via the bar. The menu has a wide range of Italian dishes to choose from as well as traditional salads and antipasti. The food was above average and no one was disappointed with any item ordered and I was satisfied with my chicken parmesan dish. Four stars for the quality and portions of food, but as I mentioned at the outset the value brings the overall rating down. The street the restaurant is on is highly competitive and would it be hard to justify coming back here based on the cost.

"Veal a La Boehner," named for Rep. John Boehner. It's fried veal, fried egg and anchovies. It's different! I'll be back for it again!

Read about this place in John Boehner's book, "On The House." He described the atmosphere as a local hole in the wall style place with good Italian food. He was right! I ordered the calamari and veal a La Boehner! Both were great!

I can't say enough great things about this place. My best friend has been taking me here for my birthday for the past two years and there is nothing but great service and delicious food every time. The restaurant is cute and not too far from the Navy Yard. They have a nice variety of wines, so many entrees to choose from, and desserts that make you an offer you can't refuse. Worth a visit if you enjoy Italian food and you're in the DC area.

Visiting DC from Phoenix, AZ and this was the first stop on our trip. Amazing pasta, some of the best I've ever had. I got the fettuccine alfredo and my wife got the penne arrabbiata, both were excellent. Also we were impressed with the portion sizes. Had a good amount of leftovers. Highly recommend this place if you want some outstanding authentic Italian food!

I am obsessed with the vibes here. I went for a intimate date night. I had the tortellini pasta. My boyfriend had the veal piccata. We shared the garlic bread as well. For dessert, we had the creme brulee. Food was good but the service, family feel, and character of the place made it for us. We are not local to the DC area but will make this a staple when we return. Being from out of town I would give this place $$$ for price. Worth it.

    Outside

Bruschetta and Lasagna both were amazing! Staff was friendly and accommodating of our party of 6. Nice place to take a date.

I'm a long time neighborhood customer. This used to be my local Italian go to spot but the prices are a bit too much for the quality of food. The food is homemade and ok, but these are Ristorante Filomena prices with smaller portions. Maybe it's because of covid-19. I will give them another chance post covid.

    Fettuccine Alfredo... $18.95 pre tax
    Amanda J.

I came to Trattoria Alberto with a friend for dinner just before Christmas, and we had a nice dinner. I ordered the Fettuccini Alfredo ($18.95), and it was a good version of the dish. Their version is very cream heavy, and the portion is quite large. I enjoyed it but did not find it to be a special dish. I love the ambiance of Trattoria Alberto so much. It feels like a hole in the wall Italian place that you would find in New York City. The service is good, and at Christmas, there were cute decorations. While I don't think the food is terribly unique or special, it is just good Italian.

One of our favorite restaurants in DC. Absolutely amazing food and the very best service. We love visiting and our nights at Trattoria. We recommend the avocado salad, lasagna, clams linguine, and chicken parmigiana. They make a great pomegranate martini and always have specials like rack of lamb or filet. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu and definitely get dessert! Our favorite is the pistachio gelato. Enjoy!

Between the handmade pasta, creative cocktails, beautiful waterfront views, and welcoming staff, it's become one of our regular OpenTable reservations. At this point, we've tried just about everything on the menu, from the bomboloni and fluffy Morini pancakes at brunch to many of the pastas at dinner. If it's your first visit, don't skip the gnudi--they're pillowy ricotta dumplings that are absolutely worth ordering. The pappardelle and cappelletti are also favorites, while the gnocchi and tagliatelle are always a hit with kids. The espresso martini is a great way to kick off a relaxing weekend, and what keeps us coming back isn't just the food. We've gotten to know the chefs, managers, and several servers over the years, and they consistently make us feel welcome. It's the kind of restaurant that remembers its regulars and creates an experience that's just as enjoyable as the meal itself. We're grateful to have Osteria Morini in our rotation and look forward to many more family brunches and dinners with friends.

The hostess told us we likely wouldn't sit until 9:45 so I inquired about the bar and the manager quickly stepped in to put us on a waitlist. Since the restaurant is connected to a food hall of sorts, she recommended we grab a drink there while we wait. Shortly after we got our drink, we received notification of an opening and were seated by 8:15. We had the burrata appetizer, Ragú x 2, and the seafood fra diavolo. The burrata was one of the best I've had since they serve it with pesto, pine nuts, and garlic bread. It was truly divine! The Ragú was not far behind. Incredible flavor and a generous portion. The seafood dish had a nice kick and had plenty of seafood, which is not common as of late. All dishes were also priced reasonably for the quality you received. As we sat at the bar, we had pleasant conversation with the bartender and finished our meal with a small cannoli that really sealed the deal. If you're looking for excellent Italian food in DC without breaking the bank, look no further than Caruso's grocery! For the main course i ordered the Trout Piccata. The fish was cooked to perfection and the veggies were well seasoned. My friends ordered the chicken piccata, Caruso Alfredo and baked Cavatelli. Everything was good. Next up we ordered the butterfinger sundae, Nutella cannoli and tiramisu. The sundae base is chocolate ice cream. If you are fan of chocolate ice cream you will love the sundae. We ordered the fried artichokes as an appetizer and they were delicious! The Italian couple who own the place were doing all the cooking themselves the entire time we were there, so you know it's authentic. After polling my colleagues, we came to the agreement to check this place out. That being said, I booked a table our first night in the area and off we went. L'Ardente specializes in Italian fare - specifically marketing themselves as "glam Italian". Walking in, I didn't really get glam vibes, but perhaps because it was still daylight. The restaurant is pretty spacious - the main dining room has high ceilings and big windows, with a bar along the back wall and some alcoves along the far side of the restaurant. The decor is mostly modern, with mostly dark finishes with clean lines. We started with drinks - they have a good selection of cocktails and were also flexible to make something that we specifically requested. For apps, we decided to share the pulpo, verde salad, artichokes, and melon with prosciutto. All of these were good, but the pulpo and artichokes were my two favorite. Both were creatively prepared and had great flavor. For my main, their signature 40-layer lasagna was tempting, but I opted for the linguine ai frutti di mare. This was an interesting preparation - the expected seafood was there, but the red sauce was thicker than traditionally used in the dish, and had more heat. The dish was good, and apparently this is a running theme where they put their own twists on what are usually traditional Italian dishes. We opted for dessert, and shared the vanilla soufflé, crème brûlée, and the blueberry panna cotta. All of these were really good and creatively prepared. The soufflé was my favorite - great vanilla flavor and pared with tasty pistachio ice cream. Service was great, everyone was super friendly and made sure we were taken care of. Overall, I had a good experience at L'Ardente. Glam? The jury is out for me - but, the food is solid and service was great. I would return, but not before checking other Italian restaurants out in the area first.
