I'm conflicted about this review because the food and service were amazing but I can't help but feel that they sit all the people of color in a somewhat hidden dining area upstairs... when we first arrived for our 7pm reservation for 2 there were plenty of open tables downstairs but the host kind of looked us over and said we'd be going to the upstairs dining section. All of the guests downstairs were white and once we got upstairs it was a family with two (slightly loud) younger kids, an Asian family of 6, and a table for my mother and me (Asian). Once the other guests finished their meals and left, their tables were replaced by an Indian friend group and an Asian couple. When we went back downstairs after dinner none of the guests were people of color. The servers upstairs were amazing though and I really appreciate their kindness and work ethic. Wasn't a huge fan. Authentic Italian menu, but just didn't thoroughly enjoy what I had tasted. They may have other things that could be worth trying as those on my table enjoyed their items. I had the angel hair pasta. I was very surprised when I asked to add shrimp to have to answer to "how many?" They charge around $3/shrimp. These aren't even huge shrimp. Being from New Orleans, I would say very average size. Given the price point, I'd say decent quality but I would expect a bit more in quantity. I wouldn't be opposed to coming here again but I also wouldn't go out of my way to go back or recommend. You should certainly see for yourself, though! read more

Came by here on a rainy night, made the mistake of not getting a reservation on their website directly which they highly recommend. The host was very greeting and told us they'd have a table 2 hours later which on the website says walk ins may not be accommodated. We were served some bread and ordered 1 pasta each. The ambiance was nice and overall the sauce on both the pastas were delicious! The gnocchi was a bit undercooked, I wish I asked to have it cooked a little longer but overall the pastas were very solid... the tiramisu was very good, one of the best I've had... very airy and not overly sweet. I ordered the mama fratelli (100/5 omg...) A rigatoni pasta with sausage bits, basil, chili, a creamy wine sauce. Whichever chef made this needs a chefs kiss right back at them Along with the Ravioli Correnti (not pictured, ordered by partner). They literally stuffed the life out of the pasta. Each bite oozes out flavorful perfection. To be honest too, I usually avoid raviolis since portions never fill me up but oh boy... we were stuffed to the heavens. The bread is always a great snack and palate cleanser as you wait for your meal, feel free to ask for re-fills (my big back got 4 refills ). I just wish it was slightly toasted but it's free sour dough can't complain there! Will I be going here again in the near future with friends, another dinner date, treating my self?! Of course! We ordered 2 bottles of the Montepulciano and it was a good vino, but in combination with the pasta it put me in a daytime sleep coma for hours! The food can be hit or miss, for appetizers we got the mussels and clams in a red sauce and the beef tartare and arugula salad with pistachios and golden beets. The tartare was pretty unremarkable and didn't have a zing in the dressing, it was quite plain and ordinary. The arugula salad was also quite ordinary but the clams and mussels were quite flavorful but a bit too salty For mains I tried the classic spaghetti and meatballs, but the sauce and the meatballs were flavorless, and I sent it back. My buddies enjoyed a Calabrian pepper pasta and mixed seafood pasta; The meatless Calabrian pasta most flavorful dish in the place and the pasta was al dente to the max which added to the flavor of the dish. Full of flavor and cooked perfectly. My friend had the spicy penne, which she also loved -- great kick without being overpowering. It's not a huge restaurant, so I would recommend reservations for more people, though some people had success with walk-ins if they were smaller parties. The tables are a little short, so our waiter had to crouch down a bit to talk to us. We got the Carlesimo and Il Diavolo pastas to share, which our waiter told us were his favorites on the menu. The complimentary bread was fluffy with a nice crust and served with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Our dishes came out in legitimately 5 minutes -- fast service! Maybe it's because they don't have such an extensive menu. The waiter was happy to grate a generous amount of cheese on top of both pastas. Carlesimo: 5/5, so creamy and the sun-dried tomatoes were so delicious! The rigatoni, though a bit thicker than I was used to, was perfectly al dente. Il Diavolo: 5/5, my favorite of the night. A nice kick of spice from the sausage balanced the smooth, creamy burrata. An elevated classic dish. Overall, I loved the casual yet classy ambiance of the restaurant. Even the plates were so pretty! If you're craving pasta and want to treat yourself, this is the place! Came here on a Friday evening with a friend, and although the place was a bit busy, since we had reservations, they had our table ready and sat us down immediately. As soon as we were at our table, a server came to give us the menu, explain it, and ask if we wanted some initial drinks (we were also served water simultaneously). They were very attentive; every time our water cups were at half, they would come by and refill them, which I appreciated. We ordered the Carlesimo and the Il Diavolo. Both were great! The pasta was al dente and full of flavor. They also brought some complementary bread to accompany it. The pancetta on the Carlessimo was the star of the plate; it was perfectly crunchy and complemented the rest of the ingredients. The Il Diavolo was sauce-heavy since it has tomato sauce, but it mixes very well with the sausage and onions. In comparison, the Il Diavolo was a bit more spicy than the Carlesimo but still delicious, and it is important to note that the spice level didn't overpower the rest of the flavors. Although we didn't have any drinks, they did have an extended selection of wines and liquor, if you're into that! They also had some cocktails and mocktails on the menu. This place is definitely on the pricier side compared to other pasta places in the area, but if you're looking for a nice place to sit down, talk, and enjoy some high-quality pasta and drinks, this is your place! We shared the Shrimp Scampi appetizer which was just ok, I would not order it again, portion is small, came on a hot plate which may have caused it to be over cooked.
