Also it gave us the chance to talk and mingle with other people in our group. They gave our group a choice of pizza and i got margherita. It was by far one of the best pizza's i had ever tasted. Albeit i normally am happy with sbarros. Very authenic and rich in tomato taste. Highly recommend. Turns out they are a couple of restaurants on the way up. Happy stomach. The pizza con bufalo is amazing, as is the bufalo mozzarela appetizer. If you've never had authentic bufalo mozzarella, made from the milk of Mediterranean buffaloes, you're missing out. Blows traditional mozzarella out of the water with a firm exterior and creamy interior. Their pastas are perfectly al dente and seasoned nicely. The basil pesto pasta is especially good. The servers are very friendly, and the space is large, and utilitarian, yet comfortable. If you are staying in Ercolano, it's definitely worth a visit.

So we got a reservation and went for dinner. The interior is charming and warm with an old-school vibe and it offers a great view of Ischia Island during the day. Fantastic wine list and excellent pasta. After dinner, our waiter who was attentive and friendly came by with a tiered dessert cart and serves the dessert right off the tray. Our only complaint was that a couple a few tables away were Facetiming with someone on their phone for half an hour. None of us wanted to listen to their conversation. That has nothing to do with the restaurant-- I just wanted to point out that it's rude to talk on speaker phone when other people are trying to enjoy a nice, quiet dinner in an upscale environment. I heard a rumor it might close down as the owner is retiring, but I hope that rumor wasn't true. I'd definitely like to go back next time I'm in Sorrento.

Spectacular fresh pasta, outstanding Neapolitan pizza, and many good wines, all at an exceptionally good price - much less than restaurants in Naples built to get high prices from the tourists. The outdoor space is covered, so in the event of rain, we knew we'd be safe. First, our waiter was one of the kindest and congenial Italians we came across on our travels. Originally, for my meal I was going to go with a clam and spaghetti dish, but our waiter convinced me to go with the lobster. The lobster in the Mediterranean is very small compared to what I'm used to on the East Coast, however, the flavor and freshness was beyond reproach. We passed on dessert as we were stuffed (we also housed the bread basket) with pasta and wine...but asking for the check was tough. The waiter didn't want us to go, finally telling JT, "ok, you can go, but the lady...she stays". Wonderful spot!
