We popped into this tiny Italian restaurant because it was very close to our Airbnb. Although they were pretty close to closing, the staff was friendly and accommodating. Trattoria Giorgio was hands-down the BEST meal we had in Greenville. If you're visiting, I could not recommend it more highly !! It is fantastic. You do need to call in advanced and make a reservation because they do book up. The clam special was literal PERFECTION. I have been dreaming about its tomato base sauce since we ate it. I literally wanted to lick the plate *lol*. The ribeye was full-flavor, I have no notes on it whatsoever... The bolognese is something special; made fresh in house and you can tell. Our server was so warm and curated our meal with care. The ambiance is intimate, relaxing, and charming. I would go back in a heartbeat. What a classy take on Italian dining. Love it how you have plenty of elbow room around you and no one is on top of anyone with the seating. The atmosphere is rustic, inviting and simple. I visited this restaurant with a dining companion as a weekday walk in. (we got lucky because just an hour earlier the restaurant was packed but people were flocking to the Peace center for an event) The ambiance is cozy and intimate. Just the right level of dim lighting while still bright enough to read the menu. They have about 9 tables in the dining room plus a small counter with a couple of barstools (making a reservation is highly encouraged!) Our server was kind and attentive but, not intrusive. Food was prepared in a timely fashion and we had some delicious airy bread to nibble on while we waited! I had a house salad to start. It was a simple mix of fresh greens with cherry tomato, shaved carrot and onions perfectly dressed in a house made balsamic vinaigrette. Then I had the spinach and walnut ravioli dish. I was pleasantly surprised with the size of the portions. So many places serve minuscule portions of ravioli but this was a whole platter of tender pillows stuffed with creamy spinach, ricotta, and buttery minced walnuts. They were sauced in a simple cream sauce that perfectly accented the filling without stealing the attention. My dining partner had the pappardelle bolognese that was equally delicious - a heaping bowl of fresh made pasta coated in a hearty perfectly seasoned bolognese. We were too full to try dessert but, I will look to visit again if I find myself in Greenville! If you're looking for a romantic Italian spot with a true scratch kitchen, go see Giorgio! read more

We walked by and decided this is where we would reserve a date For Our anniversary. People Said it was a great place to eat. It was nice ambiance, the waitress was very nice but forgetful. There is about 10 tables in the place. My husband ordered duck and I ate the shrimp pasta. The duck breast was soggy and inedible, but the roasted summer vegetables with a mushroom sauce, which was seasoned well and delicious. The pasta Was good and great butter/garlic flavor but it was too al dente for me. The bread was very good soft in the Middle and crunchy on the outside. Fresh baked. The cannolis were delicious creamy filling and crispy shell. Be ready to dish out cash. I expected an exceptional meal for the price. You be the judge but one and done For me. My family and I have been to Trattoria Giorgio many times and have enjoyed our experience there. This was not the case this past Friday. One of the members of my family had their trained service dog with them and we were denied entry due to their no pets policy. I explained to the hostess that the dog was not a pet but a trained service animal and was told again that it did not matter because they have a no pets policy. Under both the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and South Carolina law, individuals with disabilities have the right to be accompanied by their service animals in public accommodations. My family and I will never set foot in Trattoria Giorgio again. We ended up having a lovely evening down the street at Soby's. The food and service were excellent. Isa was our wonderful friendly server tonight. There were 7 of us celebrating birthdays. Very charming restaurant, intimate atmosphere with a lovely outdoor terrace. We thoroughly enjoyed the Chianti wine with our meals. The salads, pasta Bolognese, linguine with pesto and shrimp, steaks, and tiramisu and cannoli desserts were very delicious!!! Last night we dined at Trattoria Giorgio and our table got savory cured meats, caprese with house made mozzarella, pasta pomodoro, creamy delicious spinach and walnut ravioli, veal, lamb chops, and the cannolis and pancetta for dessert were to die for. Everything was fabulous and cooked to perfection- compliments to the chef! Isa had recommendations that were magnifica and paired our meals with beer, wine and espresso martinis. This restaurant is located in my favorite part of town, easily walking distance to a beautiful waterfall park, unique stores lined with products from local artists, surrounded by amazing historical architecture. We have been coming to his delightful family owned and run restaurant for about twenty years. Without a doubt, they have the best Italian food, if not the best food period in Greenvile. This is not a place to "hurry", but one to relax and truly appreciate what a chef who genuinely cares about presenting you with the best food possible, can do with a reasonably limited menu and time. Let's face it, fine dining is expensive and we only eat here 2 or 3 times a year, but every time we come, it turns out to be a special event. Last night, the sea bass set a new high standard for fish. Absolutely delicious! The zucchini and red pepper side was almost as good, which surprised me since it didn't sound like it would knock my socks off when I heard it described, but it did. I know the pasta, etc is good too, but always get the fish dish. Giorgio is a true master with fish. This may not be everybody's cup of tea (or limoncello), but if you want to spend a leisurely delightful dinner in a great restaurant with uber ambiance, this is the spot. Want a fast meal with a menu that has 200 things to get, go somewhere else. In spite of some negative reviews on this site, there is a reason this restaurant has been here, in a very competitive market, for 20 years - it is clearly one of the best in town. And no, I am not related to the owners nor have any ownership in this place and for that matter don't usually wax eloquent on various restaurants, but this one is special. Try it! read more

From the start, part of our party was denied access due to using a wrong first name with the reservation. No accommodations could be made for a gluten free guest. When the waiter made a huge mistake with an order, he was apologetic and adjusted bill. BUT: I have never had a server clearing the table YELL at me. What? Poor help? Poor training? Poor leadership? This place is centrally located in Greenville, a bout 3 blocks north of the river. It is on a block with several other restaurants and across the street from one or two large hotels. I'm not sure what parking is like in the immediate area, as we walked a few blocks here from our hotel. I made a reservation for a Thursday night a few weeks in advance. They have about 9 - 10 tables inside and maybe 5 more outside in a courtyard. They filled up quickly the evening we were there. This is definitely on the 'fine dining' end of the restaurant spectrum. If you are looking for a place to celebrate or just for a date-night, this is a good venue. The menu is not extensive, but they have a good selection of main dishes. They seem to focus on full bottles of wine, but do have some by-the-glass options as well. I opted for a ravioli dish, while my wife got the catch of the day. We split a salad and a dessert as well. We both enjoyed our food and neither of us had leftovers. I'd consider another meal here if we were back in Greenville for a trip. read more

They have a limited menu (but always have a few extra options as specials such as melt in your mouth ribeye or lamb chops) but this only means what they do do, they do RIGHT. We had been wanting to come here for a while, but due to the limited hours and the appearance of guests inside when we walked by, we had assumed we would have to save it for a special occasion. Finally took a look at the menu and realized it was much more affordable than it appeared, and I'm definitely glad we decided to go! For appetizers, we got the Ravioli Alla Aragosta (lobster ravioli) and Affettato Misto (Italian cured meats) to start. The ravioli were awesome, the sauce with them paired perfectly. The Italian meats board had a nice variety and was more than enough for the two of us. For entrees, I got the Pappardelle Bolognese, which was absolutely amazing! Awesome home made pasta that held up to the hearty sauce, great flavor all around. My fiancé got the Veal Scaloppine Piccata, which was also very flavorful! At the end of our meal one of the waitresses that claimed to be manager and 30% owner asked us if we were happy with our food, and we said yes, and she said, then why didn't you leave a bigger tip? I thought the tip we chose to leave was of our own choice. She then proceeded to ask us not to come back because we didn't take care of them, wow you cannot tell someone not to come back to a Public restaurant, I protested and said how dare you to be rude and she proceeded to call us cheap scapes for not leaving a 30% tip!!. I called after we left and talked to the owner and he apologized and said he would call me the next day, he didn't call, all my years never been insulted at all restaurant for not leaving 30% I give them 1 star read more

Went here for dinner on the recommendation of a local that we met at another restaurant. We were not disappointed. We had lobster ravioli and steamed clams for appetizers. I had rack of lamb which was on the specials I intended to have the shrimp linguine but I love lamb so.... My husband had the papardello bolognese. Both were excellent. I had the mousse Al chocolato for dessert. We left there totally stuffed and satisfied. We were taken care of by Chuck who has been there for 23 yrs. Excellent. I love this place. It's small with brick exposed walls and a few tables in an outside courtyard. Curated wine list and wonderful pastas. My favorite appetizer is the lobster ravioli which is spectacular and I love the smoked salmon with penne and the papparelle bolognese. The bread is also great with their olive oil and balsamic. Reservations only and a great date place or special occasions but we just go often dine it is so reasonably priced. If I had to select only 5 restaurants in Greenville that I could only go to in the future I would probably have this one on the list. read more

Incredibly disappointed. To preface, I feel the need to mention, in previous chapters of my life I worked in fine dining. After hearing positive reviews for the past couple of years, I was thrilled to be trying out this seeming quaint and romantic restaurant. I place a reservation weeks in advance to celebrate my birthday and my boyfriend's accomplishments over the year. I noted each of these things to the host and even called the day of to see about a couple of glasses of champagne upon arrival and shared my card information to surprise my boyfriend with the meal on me. All perfectly curated for a wonderful date night. We arrived at the restaurant ten minutes ahead of reservation time and were seated promptly with unfortunately zero acknowledgment to the occasions or glasses of champagne to toast and wake up the palette. We sat there all of two minutes for the server to come up and ask what we'd like to drink. We hadn't even had the chance to review a menu as we were absorbing our surroundings. We asked for more time and that was certainly given to us... 15+ minutes went by without even a glance in our direction. We called Jianna praying for possible reservation cancellations we could hopefully fill in, with no luck. Sitting there feeling completely unwelcome and uncomfortable, listening to a waitress complain about her personal problems to our server, and seeing regulars being treated like royalty, we decided to give it a chance as we had no other choice. Overall, the food was average and the service was utterly upsetting. When asking for thoughts and comparison between bottles of wine, it was very clear that there wasn't much knowledge of the particular region/varietal (Super Tuscan). Overall, honestly, there is way better Italian in Greenville and even an Olive Garden could outshine this staff. Don't go to this place expecting the "experience" that you should when enjoying a white tablecloth meal. -We went to brunch this morning, only two gentlemen working about ten tables (including two parties) and the experience was a million times better. As well as the price being over 50% less. I'm not one to leave a bad review typically, as empathy is a strong value of mine, but when you're paying as much as do for things like this, no matter how much is in the bank, you should absolutely be met with service appropriate to match it. read more

I've been wanting to try Trattoria Giorgio for a year or so, and on the one occasion I committed to it, it was Monday and they were closed. This particular visit it worked out and I was finally able to give it a try. Our waiter was great and took care of our party of four like a champ. When we arrived they had one table for four open so that made things easy and our drink orders were taken as soon as we were seated. I should also point out that not only did they bring us bread but they also offered us butter, even more impressive, the butter was room temperature, a rarity in Italian restaurants. For appetizers we ordered the Affetatto Misto and Mozzarella Caprese. The Cured Meats were particularly flavorful especially when eaten with the Mozzarella. I loved the spicy pepperoni which had a great peppercorn flavor. For my meal I ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese and I was not disappointed. First, the portion size was tremendous, I was looking forward to dinner so I purposefully had an early lunch and saved room for dinner. I ate about half of my pasta and still had enough for a very filling lunch the next day. Each of us ordered a dessert so we could try some of each, of the four (Tiramisu, Mousse al Ciccolatto, Panna Cotta, and Hazelnut Ice Cream) I can say with certainty that the Mousse al Ciccolatto was the stand out favorite. That being said, the Panna Cotta was one of the best custards I've had, I was very surprised at how sweet and flavorful both the Panna Cotta and the sauce were. The Tiramisu was good, but I've had better, personally I think I've made better. The only thing basically uneaten was the Hazelnut Ice Cream. The Hazelnut in the ice cream tasted bitter, and completely unsweetened so it unbalanced the ice cream, I'd give it a miss. read more

This is no Americanized Italian. It's the real deal. We got the lobster ravioli and that was the highlight of the night. The sauce was delicious and you actually get large pieces of lobster in it. We used the bread to get every last drop of that sauce it was that good. Then my wife and I shared a salad, which was very well made, and a pasta with an aioli and shrimp. The pasta and shrimp well cooked perfectly but the pasta needed a little more flavor in my opinion. Overall, the meal was great and we will be back. The bartender was EXTREMELY rude and treated me like I didn't belong there. She was unprofessional and made me uncomfortable. I also found out that she works at one of my favorite restaurants, The Bohemian in greenville. I'll make sure to never to sit in her section. Every person who sat down got bread at their table or at the bar and I was never offered this "luxury" so when I asked if I could have some bread, this same girl told me that the bread was still baking...then I watched as other patrons who had gotten there AFTER me were being served fresh bread. I have lived in Greenville for 32 years and have wanted to go to this beautiful restaurant for 20+ years. Finally went. We didn't have a reservation so they offered bar seating...They sat us at the end of the bar closest to a service door( I thought about asking to be moved over to the other end but thought they may have already promised other bar seats....) The entire dinner I had to endure being bumped as waitresses were coming and going. Since we were at the bar, I am used to bartender/servers being more engaging. He was nice enough but just not A+. We ordered too much food and I could finish my entree....the waitress, in passing, said "did you not like your sea bass?" I appreciated her noticing but her approach was a little brusque. We had to ask to take our leftovers, which we had a full meal left over between my husband and me. They brought it back to us in styrofoam and a "t-shirt" plastic bag.....not at all what I was expecting....felt like I was leaving "The Clock". Now about the food. It was ok, nothing stellar. I have had pasta in 2 and 3 star restaurants that was better. They served us nice bread with only olive oil...no spices/herbs or balsamic vinegar glaze. It was very disappointing. I had the Chilean Sea Bass which was their special fish for the evening. It was fishy to me and I have never once been served "fishy" tasting Sea Bass. It was served with zucchini and peppers we were told......I ended up with 3 pieces of zucchini that were as thin as potato chips and no peppers. My husband had the Pappardelle Bolognese. He said it was good....I tried it and it was average. They didn't offer fresh parmesan grated on your dish.....surprising. Will not be returning. For the price it was a huge disappointment.
