This place is ok. We got sat right away. After we ordered drinks we ordered the fried mushrooms and a salad. We got the fried mushrooms but didn't get the salad. The spaghetti was good. The alfredo was ok. Definitely tasted canned. We got the check and saw the salad was on the ticket so we mentioned it to our server to take it off. He asked if he can pack one to go for us to take home. I assumed he asked so he didn't have to take it off the ticket. Umm...no. We don't want just one salad to take home! We only ordered take out, so we say much for the experience and ambiance. But the lasagna was decent, maybe a tad bit too greasy but the flavor was there. The pizza was hot and fresh, and I could tell the tomato sauce was authentic, carrying tomato chunks and flavor. Except my main problem was the saltiness. Boy could I taste the salty cheese, pepperoni, and I suspect the tomato sauce as well. If it weren't for that, the pizza was overall well made with a nice thick crust. I was in the mood for some good Italian so we decided to eat here for dinner. We were immediately greeted when we walked in, and the staff was very friendly. Our waitress was able to help one of us decide what to get, although she didn't seem to be in the very best mood haha. I got the spaghetti with meat sauce, which was pretty good; it would be high up on my list, but I've had better, at places like Milano and Paisano's. The rest of the family thought the food was decent as well. The ambience inside was a little lacking, with not much theming and the music stopping while we were there, creating an uncomfortable silence. We also tried to use a coupon, but were told we can't because apparently what we ordered didn't qualify, but that was stated in the fine print. I ordered an eggplant parm sub with fries. It wasn't good. It was a very weird brown color (I'm assuming it wasn't fresh). The sub was mushy, wet, and tough. Get to restaurant and tell them I'm there to pick up , the girl at register is in full panic mode and says I'm just going to tell you , you may not get the order they told me more orders. I said I've already placed the order 25 minutes ago . I'm not placing a new one , she said I know you see all these I took them before ( then pauses, looks at vi workers starts waving hands, too many people in front area ) then goes back and says see all these receipts these people placed orders before I knew no more orders. Then screams to other lady check to see where this order is it's my receipt, lady comes back in oven. She says to me it's in oven( pauses screams to back these people just going keep calling, what do I do) takes phone off hook, turns back to me says you gotta wait it's in oven. I've never see. Such chaos in my life , I finally got food and it was so spicy we could hardly eat it . I git a steak combo it was so overloaded with oregano that's all I could taste . I could understand if this was close to closing but this was 7:30 pm and they are open till 9:30, the place was turning away customers to dine in and I heard lady say well we aren't getting out with all these call in orders setting here. If they were short staff , then tell people in calm manner unfortunately we are short staff and can't accommodate anymore orders or guest tonight . Third review, second update, first din in experience since Covid reopening allowed. Met with a great greeting by the hostess/cashier and we were asked to seat every other table. They table was sanitized and everything on the table removed and replaced (eg, salt & pepper shakers). Menus sanitized between patrons. Warm welcome, great service, thrilled to be in dining room dining! Food was good, but who would complain after two months of dining in deprivation? Felt normal! Finally felt normal! The Owner is RUDE and placed little if any value on his customers. My family and I had dinner here this evening and when checking out found the owner to be rude and almost belligerent. I ate here for years on lunch breaks. It's been two years since I'd been here after changing jobs and I'm pleased to say it's as delicious as ever. Service was quick and friendly for a Saturday lunch, although I do remember they get pretty busy during weekday lunch hours. Everything was fresh and delicious. I always get the Greek Salad with chicken and their house dressing is so good. The chicken is marinated and tender. We found Olive Tree in Mauldin during the height of Covid, after things opened again. We have ordered multiple things at multiple times. It has been fantastic. Unfortunately today might have been an off day, maybe new staff, or just tired staff but the quality of the wings we got tonight were.. well in one word.. chalk! Cooked beyond done the devil himself would choke on these wings! I'm going to try it again because I understand the restaurant game. But come on show some pride in your food. Is this Olive Tree somehow connected to the one that used to be in Duncan SC? The one in Duncan used Good Seasonings Italian Dressing spices with olive oil instead of vegetable oil. I remember they told us that the olive oil had to be chilled so it didn't separate.
