This is a review based on how a private event was handled. I would have given 1 star based on just the event but the food was decent so I'll give this place two stars instead of one. I would never book an event at this venue. First, there are two separate rooms connected by a hallway. Apparently the host of the event was not notified there was another party going on in the backroom. This normally wouldn't have been a problem except the food from the kitchen had to be brought through our party. Not enjoyable when we are all starving and the food keeps being brought through our room to another party instead of to ours. Unfortunately, it gets worse: I put in a simple order for my kids: 2 buttered spaghetti dishes. The head waitress put the order in on the computer (at least that's what it looked like). Ok so 10 minutes go by and still no spaghetti. My kids are starving so I ask nicely about the spaghetti and the waitress brushes me off and says it's on the way. What made me really mad was when another kid received his ravioli that was ordered 10 minutes after my order. And we still didn't have our spaghetti! At that point I was pretty upset so I asked the waittess if the pasta was being made because an order after me just came through. Instead of admitting she forgot my order (which was obvious) the waitress gaslighted me and said our orders were placed at the same time. I was with the other person who ordered the ravioli and he definitely put his order in well after mine. After about 30+ minutes my kids just ate the bread and gave up. The spaghetti finally came out and no one touched it. The waitress didn't apologize for the wait or anything. She just placed the spaghetti on the table and walked away. I've never been gaslit by a waitress in my life. Worst experience at a restaurant I have ever had. I will never come back here again. read more

Cute italian restaurant in Santa Ynez. Had a calabrese pizza and it had a kick to it. Crust was delicious! My Penne Funghi Salsiccia which was penne with mushrooms, sausage, pink sauce and truffle oil was good! My son who was with us only wanted white sauce and pasta. I don't even think they had something like that on the menu, but they were able to make him a penne with alfredo sauce which he stated was the best alfredo pasta he ever had. Trattoria Grappolo is a hidden treasure in Santa Ynez, established in 1997 located just beyond Solvang - and if you continue your drive north there's a nice walking town just around the corner. If you like olive oil, garden amenities, and wine there's Los Olivos. Grappolo meaning cluster but poetically meaning "warmth and richness" An Unexpected delight! Welcoming interior, wonderful engaging owners and delicious food! Don't let the exterior of the restaurant give you second thoughts, the interior is very different. The minute you step in, you feel the welcoming comfortable cozy atmosphere, it's just the right size, thus the word Grappolo , we found it to be aptly named. We enjoyed savoring the Linguini Mare Monte and Cotoletta Alla Milanese both wonderfully prepared, visually pleasing dishes with a wonderful richness of taste and beautifully arranged pork chops topped with arugula,shaved Parmesan, potatoes, spinach and carrots. They also have a very nice selection of wines. Now, the desserts... My absolute favorite, it really is absolutely done to perfection, it's their Panna Cotta, smooth as silk with just the right consistency that melds with the chocolate & caramel & garnished with strawberry & mint, the Crostata Di Mele, caramelized apples topped with vanilla gelato also a delicious treat! This is a nice neighborhood restaurant. More family than fancy. I thought it was going to be a bit fancier but that's fine. Split a Caesar salad. Don't see the splitting charge noted on the menu but at least they did a nice job splitting it. Very anchovy flavor forward which was ok. The piece of dry flatbread was not an improvement over a good homemade crouton. Suggest they change that. Service was good. We had lasagna and a margarita pizza. Pizza was good but nothing fancy but tasty. Lasagna had a pink sauce with a tomato soup flavor which is not awesome. It was good but not great. I think a 4.2 Yelp rating is about right. If I was craving Italian in the area I would come back and skip the lasagna. read more

We were lucky enough to stumble upon this restaurant. In town for the Santa Barbara Shootout, we were looking for a nice, quiet, local restaurant for dinner. The ambiance was very lowkey and homey feeling, and the people were very kind. We sat at the bar because there was a large party and the other tables were full. That was the best thing that could have happened. We watched the magic! Every dish was well prepared, quick but with precision and care. When completed, I wanted to order every item that came out of the woodfire stove. Beautiful presentation, and so tasty looking! We had a simple meal of caesar salad and the sausage pizza, but were absolutely thrilled. Everything tasted excellent...just right. I would highly recommend Trattoria Grappolo and will absolutely come back if I'm ever in Santa Ynez again. 5 stars! read more

Just when I thought I've tried all the popular Italian restaurants north of Santa Barbara, I've been missing out on Grappolo. After two trips to this establishment, I've experienced a friendly atmosphere that feels genuine and warm. The location is quiet, and the restaurant is lively, and although a little on the smaller side yet comfortable. My family enjoyed the food from the bruschetta and Caesar salad, to the pizza and pasta, pork chop, and the desserts (tiramisu, chocolate cake, cannoli, apple). It felt like much love was put into the food, and I imagine this is what excellent Italian home cooking would taste like. We will be coming back, and likely again and again. read more

I am truly sorry not to have taken pictures of our meals to share with you all but enough to say that they were so delicious that we couldn't wait to enjoy them!! Our little family of 5, had the following: we started with the Beet Salad that was savory with pine nuts and so flavorful! We also had to have the caprese salad with heirloom tomatoes and a burrata cheese that melded the flavors just right. My little one had the fettuccine Alfred (they offer half portions for kids and I must say the portion were not that small) the fettuccine was creamy and rich and the linguine was cooked to perfection, the lasagna was cheesy, rich and flavorful making this a favorite comfort food, the tortellini with spinach that was light and creamy, the capellini with a light tomato sauce was flavorful and light, the funghi salsiccia was so delicious with its flavorful sausage and truffle oil that blended so well together making this a table favorite, and of course a meal is not complete without dessert to which we had the créme brûlée that was tasty and the panacota that was a absolutely delicious!!!! Not only was the meal delicious but the staff from the front hostess who greeted you and quickly worked to seat you, to the support staff who were efficient in bringing water, bread, clearing the table without making you feel rushed and packaging your left overs, to the amazing waiter (if you're lucky, Erick will be your guide and happy to assist in choosing anything from wine to food) What an amazing food experience, we can't wait to come back!! read more

We had our rehearsal dinner at Trattoria Grappolo's private event space and I'm so glad we did! First, you would have no idea this hidden gem of a room was here since it's detached from the main restaurant. It's a separate building near the back parking lot that features a private bar and restrooms. We had two handicapped parents and the room was perfectly accessible for them! Food is family style for private parties and everyone raved the whole night, going for seconds and thirds of everything! Various private room menus are available to choose from and we were given no hassle about swapping out an item! We came here to celebrate my granddaughter's 13th birthday tonight and it was so delicious! This is a quaint little restaurant nestled in Santa Ynez. There is outdoor seating, patio seating or indoor seating. Otr waiter, Erick R., was very attentive and always checking if we needed anything. They start you off with nice crusty sourdough bread slice with oil or balsamic vinegar for dipping/drizzling. I ordered the Linguini Mare Monti, which is Linguini with shrimp and shitaki mushrooms in a red sauce. It was amazing. My daughter had the Ciopino. She said it was very flavorful. One granddaughter had Linguini Crostacei, which is seafood linguini. And the birthday girl had Capellini Checcs zVegan, which is angel hair pasta with angel hair pasta in extra virgin olive oil, basil, garlic and fresh tomatoes. I liked the fact that they offer San Peligrini water. For dessert the birthday girl got tiramisu, and it was delicious! As was the Lemon Sorbet my other granddaughter ordered. My daughter and I ended dinner with a cappuccino. I highly recommend coming here to eat and can't wait to come back. read more

I've been coming to Grappolo since they opened and had one of the best meals I've had there in years the night before Thanksgiving this week. My friend and I shared a fettuccine special with shrimp and mushrooms as well as a Caesar salad. My husband had the pesto dish with chicken. All of our meals were very tasty and the fettuccine noodles and mushrooms were especially delicious. We all shared a bottle of Rusack Chardonnay that was delicious and reasonably priced. Service is always exceptional at Grappolo and this meal was no exception, staff were prompt and attentive. We ate on their enclosed porch which was plenty warm on a cool fall evening. I know there's a lot of pricier competition in SY these days but I think Grappolo is a reliable, affordable, great spot for even a picky diner. Enjoy! read more

We've been coming to Trattoria Grappolo for years - every time we go wine tasting in Los Olivos/Santa Ynez Valley, this is our final stop before going home! The ambiance is cute and cozy while serving top notch food right in downtown Los Olivos. The service is excellent and fast, just what we want after a long day of wine tasting before our 2 hour trip home back to LA. My dad isn't Italian food's biggest fan, generally, but raves about the cioppino to everyone near and far. We've tried to find other Italian restaurants all over LA with this on the menu, but nothing comes close to the one he loves here. The bowl is huge, so he and my mom always split it. I'm not a huge fan of seafood and always go for the penne salsiccia e funghi. I'm typically full halfway through but it's so good, I can't stand to leave any behind! read more

The employees were a good sport about everything, especially given the fact there were about 40 people in the back room having a rubber band fight... Everything was delicious.
