Francesco, our waiter, was very nice. This is an unpretentious restaurant. There were three dining rooms. The small room we were in was furnished simply, with a mix of tourists and Italian speakers. There was a lot of moderately priced wine available. It's almost never worth spending the money on expensive wine in Florence. We were started off with some typical Tuscan bread. Two of us ordered excellent butterflied shrimp with white beans as appetizers. My buddy and I split an order of perfectly prepared tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms. My wife had the same pasta as her entree. My friend's wife had tagliatelle with a beef ragu. My buddy and I shared a majestic order of steak Florentine. It was cooked and seasoned just right. It was accompanied by excellent roasted potatoes and white beans. The price was a bargain at €100 for two. We were too full for dessert. Yesterday morning, we asked the hotel to make a reservation at this restaurant for five people at 8:00 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., hotel staff called our room to remind us about the reservation. However, when we arrived at the restaurant, they said there was no table. The restaurant manager claimed that someone had called to cancel the reservation, which shocked us. The manager had given our table to someone else, which was very upsetting. After arguing our case, they finally arranged a very small, cramped table near the entrance. Ambiance nice, we sat downstairs. We ordered the Tuscan steak and a bottle of wine. The steak was very tough, extremely hard to cut and served rare, not to my liking. I asked our server if it should be tough, he said no and they quickly jumped on it and cooked us a filet and charged us for the filet vs the more expensive tuscan style. The filet was good but I make better at home so again kinda a letdown. They should have asked us first if we wanted something else vs. assuming we wanted the filet. Long story short, they were very very attentive but the steak was a big letdown and it was out last night in Florence and this was a recommendation. Delicious Florentine steak (perfectly grilled) and potatoes - full of flavor, and pasta... but it was the tiramisu... AMAZING! We finished off the first tiramisu so quickly (and fought over it) that we had to order another. Honestly, I could eat a whole, huge tray if they allowed it. One last note, the service. It was NYE, and they were super busy; however, a man (dressed in white) who seemed like the manager was SO attentive to everyone coming in and out of the restaurant held such a collected calm. He was a tall guy, which would seemed intimidating; but after placing my to-go order, you could tell he was a nice guy that is very generous with his time. After reading so many reviews, we were excited to book at Parione. We arrived early and were turned away as they were not quite open, which was fine, but we noticed others going in early and being seated. We checked in for our reservation and were seated on the main floor in a corner (rather than the cellar or even a nice window table) where our server took drink orders but did not provide her name. Our first appetizer, the prosciutto and melon was phenomenal; even after weeks of touring Italy, we agreed this prosciutto had the best flavor with a melon so perfectly ripe. Our second appetizer (salami with pear and cheese) was slightly disappointing as the pear was no where near ripe. Our goal for the evening, however, was the Florentine steak. We ordered one for the table (it's served as a 1.2 kg, 2 person minimum with potatoes and beans) with the intent to order more food, and did not finish it. The meat was perfectly cooked (medium rare at most, and that's traditional so if you don't like that, don't order anyone's Florentine steak), but lacked any seasoning and was tough. The potatoes and beans were lovely, but none of us wanted seconds of the meat. To top it off, our server never came back other than when we flagged her down to get our check. This seemed atypical though as we watched other servers interacting with their clients in a more familiar manner. Likewise, every table not ordering the steak seemed enchanted with their food. We left somewhat hungry and got other food elsewhere. Very disappointed, and as we've had Florentine steak before, we know it can be better. read more

We ordered the pice and the bisteca florentina. The pice is like a thick spaghetti that you won't find often and comes in a broth like sauce loaded with spices, bacon and cheese. Each bite is phenomenal and would definitely order again. The steak florentine was something I have been looking forward to and we were very pleased to have parione recommended to us. The steak is naturally cooked rare which is more rare than usual for us but wanted to try traditional. The whole thing was so tender and juicy and flavorful. Ive been to florence 5 times. Its my favorite city in the world. I stumbled on this place on my way home after a day of shopping and exploring new areas. My food was delicious. I was a walk in on a Monday night. It was 7pm and by 9 was still slow. I was not greeted. I felt like i was in the way trying to navigate eho to check in with. The first person I interacted with smiled and said hello but didnt instruct me who to speak to and i thought i was to follow him. I wasn't! When i finally met with the owner or manager, he was arrogant & rude. He acted like it was a burdon that i had not made a reservation in his empty restaurant. I knew it was early so i expected the place to fill up and let him seat me in a corner with my back to a window. I heard him greet others with reservations much more graciously & let them pick where they were to sit. The wine cellar would have been fantastic! A couple with a small child was seated next to me and we chatted a bit (this was ok for me as I'm social but with all the space it was odd to seat a family right next to a single person who had to adjust to let them get into the tiny space). The same rude manager later put things on my table as he served them (as if I didn't exist) for his convenience (plates and later the charge machine). He even pulled a chair away from my table without asking causing my bag to drop on the floor with no apology!!! On a good note; My server was sweet. Gnocchi was the best I've ever had. Cheese cake was so light & delicious but if you're looking for the generous, kind loving Italian experience, its not here. read more

The food was amazing: we had tagliatelle al cinghiale, bistecchina di vitello con patate al forno, the gamberoni con fagiolini bianchi and we loved all dishes! The cinghiale was stewed to perfection with rich flavor, the gamberoni were fresh and butterflied for grilling so were tender and very flavorful and my daughter loved her bistecca so much that she picked up the bone and nibbled off all the little pieces of meat she could get off the bone. Our server was very friendly and helped us through the menu. We ordered black truffle fettuccini, a truffle steak, and a bottle of wine. I was super disappointed with the pasta. All I tasted was olive oil, noodles and truffle shavings. The steak itself was good but I was hoping for something more innovative than just truffle shavings on top. We walk down a cobble stone road, we turn to see a small entry way into the restaurant. We are greeted by the Manager who tell us to follow him. He walks us down a spiral staircase leading to a lovely wine cellar. We sit and gaze at the brick surrounding us, marveling at the copious amounts of wine. This is the place whereI lost my mind. On our first day in Florence, our hotel concierge recommended l'Parione AND made a reservation for us. Granted, it was an early reservation, like around 6 but he spoke so highly of it that we felt we definitely needed to try it. So, we got there and the kitchen was already hard at work. We got seated and immediately ordered the FLORENTINE STEAK, because we are in Florence and well, you know you have to order dishes named after the place you're in when you're visiting. (For context, we got the Risotto Milano when we were in Milan as well). And a bottle of the Chianti! Okay, so you might be thinking, when did you lose your mind? It was when we ordered the Florentine Steak, the signature dish of this restaurant. How so? I am NOT a red meat eater. We did NOT order any other non-red meat dishes. I did make this rollicking speech to R about how great I am as a team player and how I would be a great addition to any team (I had like, nearly two months of interviews before this trip so, please empathize). Then the waiter comes out with the Florentine Steak. I think I choked on my wine. Time for me to put my team player brag into work. I did finish half of that giant steak. Yes, I am a tiny Asian woman who eats very little and am mostly vegetarian. R's eyes were in shock as he watched me shovel piece after piece in my mouth. I also drank a good portion of the bottle of wine. The potatoes were delicious, soaked in animal fat. Lots of yum. The steak-crispy on the outside and quite raw on the inside. You definitely need to pepper and salt to your liking. It was a great meal. I felt like a champ, constantly chanting "Team Player, Team Player!" on our walk back to the hotel.
