Alba was caring, friendly and very helpful with great recommendations. We had the world famous Florentine Steak that was almost 2000 grams or over 70 ounces. It was gigantic but perfectly cooked. It had a nutty, rosemary flavor with a buttery aftertaste. Yum! We asked for medium and medium rare. It was expertly grilled over fire. They gave everyone a free tuna bruschetta before dinner and a limoncello after dinner. This place deserves 6 stars out of 5 stars. My boyfriend and I arrive late afternoon from the train from Rome. We decide to eat here as it was recommended by locals who usually eat there. When we got to the restaurant it was about 2:40 pm and the restaurant closes at 3pm. the server or owner was so kind to allow to eat there regardless. Silly us didn't know the florentine steak and how big a kg is and we ended up ordering that for lunch ( our mistake) it was MASSIVE piece of meat which we couldn't finish at all. Initially recommended by an Italian friend, with a follow-up recommendation from our hotel's concierge -- we knew we had to go! We had a reservation for early evening -- 7:30 is considered early -- but tables were available and the waiter didn't check; even without pre-booking, you might stop by prior to 8 p.m. for an impromptu meal. (Note that the restaurant is small. Only about seven tables.) I don't often eat steak, but in a place known for its "Florentina," our choice was a no-brainer. The meat -- cooked rare/rare/rare! -- is brought to your table prior to cooking, for your approval. You pay by the weight. If you don't know the size that'll feed your party, the waiter -- helpful and friendly -- will guide you. Very, very flavorful and tender. (The steak. Not the waiter!) We rounded off our meal with two pastas, a shared salad and a house red. The standout sauce was a combination tomato/pesto. Probably the best we had in Italy. A great, local, traditional restaurant with excellent service and easy on the wallet pricing. We snuck in on a weeknight with a very short wait and the the waiter was very friendly. The food was some of the best we had in Florence. The filet steak with grana and balsamic was better and better priced thank some of the other steak we had in Florence and the pici with guanciale pasta was excellent. The house wine was a great surprise in quality and paired well with everything at a low cost. Their cannoli was also a star for desert. The entire experience was very homey and authentic. One of the best meals we have ever had in Italy. Our Airbnb host recommended it, and it did not disappoint. They were booked solid for the night, but we showed up at opening and they had one table for us at seven that was reserved at nine. The waitress and the host treated us like family. We started with a cheese and honey appetizer, which was fantastic. My husband had the tagliatelle Al ragu and I had a pesto gnocchi. We finished the meal with the famous Bistecca Fiorentina. We don't eat raw meat at home, but we will definitely make this exception for their rendition of this steak. Absolutely fantastic! Came here for dinner Tuesday night. We decided to gamble and didn't book a reservation. We got lucky. They had one open table left for the night. Pro-tip: want to eat here? Make a reservation. We ordered: 1) Linguine with duck sauce. Delicious. Perfectly salted. Rich and savory. Perfectly-cooked pasta. My wife swears that the secret sauce for all the delicious pasta in Italy is their olive oil.  2) Grilled rabbit. Also delicious.  3) Grilled veal with garlic and rosemary. Super savory. And, you guessed it... delicious.  4) Pappardelle with meat ragu sauce. This dish was just okay. That said, it was still better than 90% of the papardelle you'd find in the best Italian restaurants in San Francisco. Okay seriously best meal(s) we had in Italy. I mean we aren't even done with our trip yet and I know this will be the best. Save yourself any trouble and just eat here. The food is cheap and very simple. The service is included and yeah, they refused to give me olive oil for my bread because it's apparently a real "Italian trattoria" but after I went back and googled what a trattoria was (I'm American lol) I understood why they didn't serve it. The bread wasn't too good but you don't want to eat it anyway! Save room for everything else. The bread doesn't matter. Most people were ordering the massive steak. It looked so good. We didn't order that but had pork and beef ribs as well as the tagliatelle and salad. All made to perfection. My mom and I are still drooling and dreaming about their food. Well I don't usually fall into the tour guide thing but on our first night in Florence this was a quick step from our hotel and we were tired...thank God for the tour guide on this one...WONDERFUL! The atmosphere is small and quaint. Perfect for a first date. The waiter spoke perfect English and was extremely helpful. The menu was charmingly handwritten. We started with a Bruschetta. The tomatoes were fresh and plump. The olive oil and basil was perfect. The bread was perfectly toasted. We then moved on to a spicy pasta that my wife fell in love with. I had the rabbit...she also fell in love with this but I was able to keep her off long enough for me to devour it. Absolutely wonderful. The house red and white wines were quality yet cheap. Upon entering, the restaurant was pretty packed. Despite the crowd, we were able to get a table for 6. Wine was good and reasonably priced (~12 euro for a light white wine). I ordered the veal with garlic and rosemary- OMG! Cooked to perfection, literally. The meat was SUPER tender and very flavorful. You have to eat the garlic cloves. They are so good- very strong but good! (WILL MAKE YOUR BREATH STANK BUT WORTH IT!!) On the side I got potatoes- they were huuuuge and very good. I also got vegetables, which consisted of cooked spinach + zucchini. Overall, great restaurant. We did get in trouble for being too loud, but that tends to happen alot with my family. After suffering some fairly unappealing meals in Venice, we arrived in Florence and dined here our first evening. IMO, no reservations required if you get here early. By early, I mean between 7 and 7:30 p.m. (it opens at 7). This is a very casual restaurant, with a friendly server, Thomas, who explained to us some of the reasons why the cuisines and cultures throughout Italy are so different. Italy was not a unified country until relatively recently, meaning the different regions developed separate cuisines, cultures, languages, and even religious practices. The atmosphere here is lively, casual, and relaxed. Lots of locals, and some tourists (probably courtesy of Rick Steves). The food was excellent. We had the tomato soup which is extremely thick, almost like oatmeal but not heavy, and certainly not soupy at all. The reason for this is because in the region they use last week's bread to thicken the soup. We also had the veal with garlic, and the fried potatoes. The veal was superb. Awesome flavors, with basil and garlic. Very simple, very tasty. Of course, the potatoes were also excellent. The olive oil flows generously throughout all your meals here. Highly recommended, this will be one of the meals that leaves you feeling great about your day. UPDATE: We returned to see Thomas and have another great meal on Thanksgiving. We wanted to be sure to try one of Florence's famed Florentine steaks before departing, so this became our Thanksgiving meal. The steak did not disappoint. Because there were three of us sharing, Thomas brought us a 1.5 kilo (3.5 pound) porterhouse, which was awesome. Be aware that in Florence, these steaks are basically prepared very rare, and asking for it to be done (e.g., medium rare or medium well) is basically in bad taste. My daughter and I happily wolfed down the steak as served, and I will say (with gratitude) that Thomas was kind to take some of the steak back for further cooking because my wife just can't eat her steak that way. Shhh, don't tell. We topped off our Thanksgiving meal with some Grappa and Vin Santo. Another great meal to end another great day! Thanks Thomas! read more

came here since it was recommended by our hostel host and was blown away! had the bistecca alla fiorentina - since it is their local speciality - and loved it! I usually don't love steak but this was super juicy and tasty all its own. price was also really good. we heard it would be about 40-50 euro per kg to get bistecca, but this place was only 35. we also tried the chicken liver crostini (meh) and the asparagus side dish for veggies but both were so-so. the highlight was definitely the meat. we'd go back for that and maybe try the tomato soup or something. read more

4th of July far from home- so I promised my carnivore son Florentine steak instead of hamburgers and hot dogs! What a fun choice! We were there early- I know- Tourists!- but we'd been touring all day and skipped lunch. Our waiter was fun and friendly and the food was overall very good. We started by splitting a plate of farfalle with tomato pesto and then had the steak with roasted potatoes. Pasta was fine- steak is only served rare- check the pic- but SO tasty! Our last day in Florence, after some early morning wanderings, we knew we had time before our train left. We originally wanted to eat at Mario (a highly recommended place), but there was a wait of at least 30 min. We ain't got time for that! So, we decided to wander around, looking for local hole in the wall type places, and stumbled upon Trattoria La Burrasca. Upon entering, we knew we wanted to try the Florentine Steak. It is a small restaurant, with maybe 10 tables max. When we arrived, there was only one table in the restaurant. Upon looking at the menu (apparently the specials change daily), we were thinking of just sharing everything, so we were going to get the steak, and a pasta dish. The server, however, was very adamant that we not mix the pasta with steak, so we opted for a few sides instead. And obvs, we had some chianti and acqua. The steak is 35€ per kg, and as we had 3, we would received a 1.5kg steak. The waiter also did warn us that the steak is cooked rare, but it ain't no thang. They brought out the uncooked steak to show us what it'll look like, which got us hyped for it. Our sides came out, and were a little salty, but we only cared about the steak. The steak came out, and was humongous. Imagine 3 tiny Asian girls trying to tackle this steak. Somehow, we were able to devour it, it was that good. The meat was super tender, the seasonings super tasty, and the rareness of the steak didn't hinder it at all. As we were finishing, we noticed a able of 2 guys gawking at our finished steak, I'd like to think that seeing us table it pushed them to order the steak as well. Definitely a hidden gem in Florence! read more

The dining room is small, with a handful of tables, and the decor is rustic and comfortable. The staff was very relaxed and quite friendly...it was almost like dining at your neighbors place. After reading through the menu, my mind was racing with the possible choices...Florentine steak...homemade gnocchi....?? Slow down and start with something you haven't tried before, so we experienced "Balsamic Jelly" and a selection of Parmesan and reggiano cheeses of varying age with some crusty bread, and it was fantastic. Having never seen or heard of a 'jellified' balsamic vinegar, it was subtly sweet and played so well with the cheese of varying levels of tanginess. Superb. One of the very best meals I have had in my life. They can take something as simple as roasted potatoes and make a dish that brings a tear to your eye. The tomato soup is unlike any tomato soup you've ever had. We also had the fried goat cheese and salad and the veal Marsala. I cannot put into word how delicious everything was. Great little Florentine trattoria. There are only 10-12 tables in the restaurant and we were lucky to walk in and get a table for dinner (a reservation for dinner is probably a good idea). Started with the antipasto Toscano, which was a meat platter (with about 4 different meats) along with crostini and liver pate. We all enjoyed the antipasto. Mains were the pasta, all of which were excellent and incredibly affordable. We had the rigatoni strascicati al ragu and the ravioli with duck meat. Both were of high quality and the flavours were fresh. We finished with a cannoli each, which are delicious and highly recommended. Would definitely return. read more

We had just one night in Firenze and couldn't be happier with our restaurant choice! We walked in without a reservation and were lucky to grab the last table. The service was delightful, the atmosphere is comfortable and relaxed - and the FOOD! We shared a bruschetta, two primi - penne with bacon, pesto and tomato, and pork sausage, and the cauliflower au gratin - and the best canoli EVER, filled at the table. Having only two nights to stay in Florence We knew we had to be careful about the restaurants we picked, so we asked locals. This Trattoria was recommended and we are glad we asked! As soon as we walked towards this gem we heard mostly italian being spoken; (staff does speak English and Spanish as well) which was the first good sign this wasn't a touristy spot as that is what we were trying to avoid! Inside all the tables were full with each of them containing an abundance of delicious looking meals! We ordered polenta with bolognese and a pumpkin risotto which both were easily better than any other food we'd had in Florence. We finished our meal oddly with a truffled egg which was cooked perfection as well. The service staff (which I believe included the owner of this wonderful restaurant) was top notch, patient and made us feel welcomed! We will definitely be back here again if in Florence again! We were looking for a restaurant close to our airbnb appartment and not too expensive on Yelp and we found that little restaurant. It was a small and cozy restaurant, with a great menu and reasonable prices. The 1/2 liter of wine wasnt expensive at all and was pretty. There was a lot of choices of food on the menu. I took the veal with a white wine sauce with a side of boiled potatoes and it was really really good! And our surprise of the night is we met a couple from Montreal like us. They were at the table just beside us! I recommend that restaurant if you are looking with a noce italian restaurant with reasonable prices. read more
