Initially recommended by an Italian friend, with a follow-up recommendation from our hotel's concierge -- we knew we had to go! We had a reservation for early evening -- 7:30 is considered early -- but tables were available and the waiter didn't check; even without pre-booking, you might stop by prior to 8 p.m. for an impromptu meal. (Note that the restaurant is small. Only about seven tables.) I don't often eat steak, but in a place known for its "Florentina," our choice was a no-brainer. The meat -- cooked rare/rare/rare! -- is brought to your table prior to cooking, for your approval. You pay by the weight. If you don't know the size that'll feed your party, the waiter -- helpful and friendly -- will guide you. Very, very flavorful and tender. (The steak. Not the waiter!) We rounded off our meal with two pastas, a shared salad and a house red. The standout sauce was a combination tomato/pesto. Probably the best we had in Italy. Note that there are many restaurants in Florence that serve steak Florentine. Some are considered shabby imitations, others the real deal. Trattoria La Burrasca is indeed authentic.

Fantastic dinner, great service and lovely ambiance. Got the bruschetta, liver with onions, pesto gnocchi, and a ricotta and pair cake. Everything was delicious, highly recommend. I want to try their whole menu.

A great, local, traditional restaurant with excellent service and easy on the wallet pricing. We snuck in on a weeknight with a very short wait and the the waiter was very friendly. The food was some of the best we had in Florence. The filet steak with grana and balsamic was better and better priced thank some of the other steak we had in Florence and the pici with guanciale pasta was excellent. The house wine was a great surprise in quality and paired well with everything at a low cost. Their cannoli was also a star for desert. The entire experience was very homey and authentic. It felt like a great escape from some of the more "tourist-y" restaraunts on bigger roads nearby.

Big fat steak....YES We ordered some pasta and steak to share and we were not disappointed! The wondrous scents wafting out of the kitchen are painful as you patiently wait for your meal. The kitchen staff seems to sing a lot and is readily audible in the dining area. Perfectly seasoned and cooked steak. Medium rare and juicy!

Second night in Firenza, we decided to check out this Rick Steve's recommended dining spot This spot is located in the Northwest corner of Mercato Centrale Indoor seating only very reasonably priced handwritten menu, changes often did not have Ribollita (vegatable soup) or Zuppa al pomodoro (Tomato soup) at this time NO table or bread cover charge We ordered 1. Rigatoni in tomato sauce with mozzarella & olives, 6€ Rigatoni cooked al dente, balanced marriage of sauce, mozzarella and olive 2. Fiorentine steak, 35€ per kg or 3.5€ per 100 grams, we ordered 800 grams to share The waiter presented the steak to us prior to cooking on a chopping board The thick slab of meat is cooked just under medium rare, because the steak did not have much marbling, we found the meat toward the middle of the steak to be very chewy and underwhelming 3. A side of mixed salad, 3.5 € For 3.5 €, this spring mix salad with tomatoes is a steal Good value, adequate service (this entry was written by my husband)

O.M.G. Delizioso! Fresh, Simple but sooo good! A small 9 table restaurant and we luckily were the first ones when they opened -one friendly efficient server with on the spot recommendations. Everything was perfectly cooked and presented - caprese salad, pici pasta (tasted like the sea) with fresh mixed seafood clams mussels octopus and perfect med rare (as their custom ) ribeye - don't expect well done meat. And soooo good ricotta and hazelnut cake with pear One of the best meals I've ever had !

Okay seriously best meal(s) we had in Italy. I mean we aren't even done with our trip yet and I know this will be the best. Save yourself any trouble and just eat here. The food is cheap and very simple. The service is included and yeah, they refused to give me olive oil for my bread because it's apparently a real "Italian trattoria" but after I went back and googled what a trattoria was (I'm American lol) I understood why they didn't serve it. The bread wasn't too good but you don't want to eat it anyway! Save room for everything else. The bread doesn't matter. Most people were ordering the massive steak. It looked so good. We didn't order that but had pork and beef ribs as well as the tagliatelle and salad. All made to perfection. My mom and I are still drooling and dreaming about their food. I wish we could eat here all the time.

Well I don't usually fall into the tour guide thing but on our first night in Florence this was a quick step from our hotel and we were tired...thank God for the tour guide on this one...WONDERFUL! The atmosphere is small and quaint. Perfect for a first date. The waiter spoke perfect English and was extremely helpful. The menu was charmingly handwritten. We started with a Bruschetta. The tomatoes were fresh and plump. The olive oil and basil was perfect. The bread was perfectly toasted. We then moved on to a spicy pasta that my wife fell in love with. I had the rabbit...she also fell in love with this but I was able to keep her off long enough for me to devour it. Absolutely wonderful. The house red and white wines were quality yet cheap. I recommend this place. My one problem is the location is outside is less than desirable. Ok the grid: The good: Excellent food Excellent service Very good price The bad: Inside nothing! The ugly: Location outside is seedy. Don't drink too much wine considering you might get tossed :)

Upon entering, the restaurant was pretty packed. Despite the crowd, we were able to get a table for 6. Wine was good and reasonably priced (~12 euro for a light white wine). I ordered the veal with garlic and rosemary- OMG! Cooked to perfection, literally. The meat was SUPER tender and very flavorful. You have to eat the garlic cloves. They are so good- very strong but good! (WILL MAKE YOUR BREATH STANK BUT WORTH IT!!) On the side I got potatoes- they were huuuuge and very good. I also got vegetables, which consisted of cooked spinach + zucchini. Overall, great restaurant. We did get in trouble for being too loud, but that tends to happen alot with my family. Recommend!

Not many places actually have yelp reviews, but this one had so many with great feedback. The food looked amazing. When we arrived we thought they were closed, but that is because they moved to a bigger restaurant a few doors down. When we arrived at the front, the gentleman asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. He directed us to the line with no reservations. The line was a bit long, but doubled in size almost immediately. It also started pouring rain during this time and we were ALL getting drenched even with an umbrella. The non reservation line was not really moving unless people left the line. We waited a good hour. As we inched closer and closer, the lines were now both outrageous and getting seated seemed like a distant memory. The staff came out and gave out Sangria and Bread bites to help those in line feel welcome. We did finally get seated and we were so glad we waited, it was worth it! We ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara, the lobster spaghettini and the chicken breast with roasted potatoes. We also ordered sangria. Everything was so good and our total was 83 €. Prices were unbelievable! We were amazed at the quality, the service and how large the restaurant they relocated to was. It was like a well oiled machine. The food coming out quickly and efficiently. I will 100% be back if I return to Florence!

We ordered the 2.6 lb dry aged Florentine steak and gnocchi. The Florentine steak is a must try steak here. It was very juicy, tender, and it was bursting with flavor. The meat was nice and chewy. The steak was gigantic and it is bigger than my head. They first bring out the raw steak and weight it in front of you. The steak is enough to share for three people. The gnocchi was also very delicious. It was cheesy and rich. It was also in a way creamy and the cheese just melted in your mouth. One of the best things I've ever put in my mouth and eaten. The cheesecake is very famous in this restaurant. We tried it and understand why. The cheesecake was super creamy and soft. I had a great time and experience here. Definitely will be back sometime soon hopefully. This is a place I highly recommend to everyone. Come and try it out for yourselves.

Creamy and spicy, only if you mix in the hot parts. They come to table and weigh the meat in front of you so you know what you're paying for. It is cooked rare or medium rare. This is NOT like steakhouses in NYC. In its own category. It was presented with melting bone marrow, sea salt and cut off the bone. Extremely flavorful and tender. My only issue is that the fat doesn't render and there was silverskin in some pieces making it inedible, plus you've paid for this by weight. Great attentive service by Nick

I went to the internet for the best Florentine steak and Trattoria Mario consistently popped up as highly rated. I reached out to the restaurant via email to make a reservation for a Friday. I wanted to get the earliest reservation possible, so the restaurant reserved me for 7:30pm, which was when they open. I was advised to show up on time - even a 2 minute delay would make me miss my reservation. I can see why Trattoria Mario was strict on reservations. They open on the dot, and then a staff member calls out each reservation at 7:30pm like a roll call. Seemed to me that if you don't have a reservation then you're out of luck, because there was no waitlist and the restaurant small and space was limited. Service was great. Our waitress was highly attentive and got us in/out of the restaurant quickly, which was what we were going for. Food came out in a timely manner. We ordered the penne al ragu, salad misto, and a Florentine steak to share. The penne was perfectly al dente, and I liked the meat sauce. I did find the pasta sauce salty, but it could've came from the grated parmesan. The saltiness was not a fluke. The Florentine steak was just pure beef and a ton of salt... too much salt for my liking. I also decided that I'm not a fan of Florentine steak in general.
