It was clean for the most part. Bathrooms were fine but the towels, I dont think they were clean. Basic room though, I didn't get sick.

Hotel Royal exceeded our expectations…read more We stayed here for one night before our cruise. The service was excellent. Our room was super cute! Very comfy bed, great AC! Bathroom a little small but easy to work with. They had a fridge and coffee maker. In the lobby they have a small room in the back behind the receptionist that has tea, coffee, utensils and other things you may need on your trip! Plus it's a cute area to sit in the morning or while waiting for your Uber. They have plenty of water in the lobby. Bottled and ice water from a large glass dispenser. There are bikes available for use. It's a pretty great location - we were able to walk to really incredible restaurants, and it was super close to our cruise port!!! We highly recommend this place and would book it again on our next Long Beach stay!

The property itself is located in the heart and soul of downtown Long Beach. Our room was cute, cozy, and clean with beautiful hardwood floors. We had a comfy king sized bed and also a sitting area with a couch. Just to name a few of the amenities there was a microwave, mini refrigerator, coffee maker with Starbucks coffee. The bathroom had a shower and it also provided full sized bath and body essentials. They do not have an elevator but we managed to bring our stuff up a flight of stairs with no issues. The guy who was working in the lobby did offer to help us but we declined. Overall we had an amazing experience here and can't wait to return.

Yet, I don't think I'd book this hotel again. It feels really old and run down. The biggest problem is definitely not enough parking. There is an overflow parking facility that didn't feel very safe.

We really liked the rubber ducks display where you can grab as many ducks as you'd like to hide on the cruise ship. There are also multiple family games in lobby like mini pool table, large Jenga blocks, and table shuffleboard. The breakfast buffet also has a good selection including made to order omelettes. * CONS: Overnight parking can be expensive especially if you are valeting your vehicle. It didn't feel safe parking off site for self parking. The elevators are slow. The hotel is starting to show some wear and staff is struggling to keep common areas clean and tidy. Our room's toilet was having issues flushing and staff refused to let us change rooms even though we just checked in room 5 mins ago. We had to vacate room and use public bathrooms downstairs for over an hour while maintenance fixed the issue. It would have been less intrusive and inconvenient if they just given us another room. They said they will alert us when problem was fixed but no one did. We had to check with front desk continuously until problem has been resolved with no compensation or freebies for our inconvenience, despite being Hilton Honors members! Fitness Room had no air conditioning and was very musty and stuffy.

This is a vintage hotel on the outside and and a fully remodeled interior and all of it is stunning from the lobby to the rooms. They have a great pool and gym, steam room and relaxation room. If you want a massage they will handle it. The rooms are all comfortable and quiet. They are spotless and the beds are great. It is quiet and the amenities are great. The service is very good, but they do need to work on getting you into your room on time. The maid service is exceptional. We also love the valets. This hotel is expensive, but great for a special occasion. It has a full bar, room service and at least 3 eateries. We loved having brunch there. Their eggs benedict are just great as is all the food. We did not get a chance to try the other eateries. We loved the pool. The only issue I had was the AC kept going on and off and that is not okay with me, but I assume they have repaired it. You will love this place.

After housekeeping cleared a used teacup from my room earlier in the day, it wasn't replaced...something I'd expect as a basic standard at a hotel of this caliber. I called to request a new one and ended up waiting 21 minutes before calling back for the status on it. I was then told that they would follow up on it and I'd receive an update on the status. 7 more minutes go by - no cup, NO UPDATE. I called back one final time, to which the man on the phone said, yes he put in a rush order and the man who's delivering it is elderly and it might take him just a few minutes longer. I said no problem but just so you know, my cup was taken earlier in the day and not replaced. The man then said he can definitely let housekeeping know for next time. I proceeded to respond and intended to say okay great but before I could even get to the great, he STRAIGHT UP HUNG UP ON ME. Also the person who delivered the cup was a younger boy so idk if the elderly man reasoning was just an excuse for the moment. I went down to the lobby immediately to speak to the manger in person and let her know how insanely unprofessional, unpleasant, and UNCOOL this was. They made an error and I got attitude back for it?! AT A FIVE STAR HOTEL. To their credit, she did apologize and sent up dessert, but by that point the issue wasn't about the teacup or a free comped anything. It was about the breakdown in communication, lack of respect, and service quality. Overall, not the level of service I anticipated for the price, which is disappointing. I will not be staying here again and don't recommend it for anyone else looking for a true five star experience.

I stayed during a busy eventful weekend and it seemed that I was provided the last available room in the hotel that hadn't been used in who knows how long. Unlike most other locations, they do not sent out a digital room key, because they bait you to their front desk to pay their mandatory parking fees and to collect a drop tag for your vehicle first. The parking lot is just a very basic space, nothing special and unprotected. They did not let us know that they only clean rooms every 3 days, until we inquired why we had not received clean towels for the next day. Very vague information is given and it felt quite frustrating. The breakfast was ok. We have never been fans of powdered reconstituted egg products which we have come across with Hampton Inn's in the past. This location actually did provide what appeared to be a make your own sausage egg muffin situation, which included round whole eggs. This was the only good part of our stay. We will not return. We travel a lot and our childhood hometown was this area. It didn't feel welcoming nor, like home. They also need to tone down the extremely obnoxious smell in their lobby. It smelled like a Comet cleanser factory. Not a great scent especially if you have allergies.

The restaurants, bars and shops offer unique experiences that are quintessential to the Queen Mary and improvements continue to be made. Is everything perfect? No but that is the beauty of the unique Queen Mary Hotel. Time should be taken to take in all the available displays, self guided tour, films about her history as well as a meal at The Chelsea, or Promenade Cafe, cocktails at the Observation Bar. The daily breakfast buffet has all the breakfast offerings and an amazing view of downtown Long Beach across the water. A La Carte breakfast is also available. Now that the F&M Bank Amphitheatre in Long Beach is open, this is the perfect place to stay and then walk to the Amphitheatre for your concert. The location is "across the street" - but it feel so close that it seems like it's in the parking lot of the Queen Mary. Because the Queen Mary is a historic ship, the walls are thin, the hotel doesn't have all the traditional bells and whistles that are common in newer hotels but for me, that is part of the experience. There isn't central air or heat but you can request a fan or more blankets, if the room is too loud they do offer ear plugs. What the hotel does have is beautiful historic woodwork, Art Deco style in the staterooms, 1930s artwork, photos of the celebrities who have stayed on the Queen Mary, working portholes. It's a time capsule that you can enter. Explore their website, review the tours that are available and remember that you can do self guided exploration as well. Wander the deck and it feels like you're traveling back in history.
